My boyfriend took me here for their chargrilled oysters and honestly, those are the best chargrilled oysters I've had in my life! I didn't even care about my entree as much as those oysters! He ate a dozen and I ate a dozen. Sheesh, I wish they shipped lol. read more

On our way to Gulf shores from Indiana & We got on the online waitlist at 6:10pm and it said our table would be ready at 6:30pm--got to restaurant and checked in at 6:20pm and was told they were running behind so it'd be 6:40pm We said okay and waited outside until 7pm went inside and asked (yelp said we were next in line) and they said that we were first in line but that because the kitchen was swamped they were not seating anyone else for an undetermined amount of time! We decided to wait since we'd waited a long time already & we were next--we were finally seated around 7:45pm Our waitress was new(she made a point to tell us) so she wasn't the best but also not the worst Took awhile to bring our drinks...we decided to just get appetizers since we'd been there forever already! The oysters bienville were amazing as were the jalapeno hush puppies! And a manager came by and discounted our bill so we are giving 3 stars! Service was great , nice ambiance, food, well not terrible , first of all started with a dozen raw Oysters , probably the smallest I've ever seen I think one was a decent size , ordered the seafood sampler , fried fish wasn't very good too fishy it's not grouper or cod for sure , shrimp typical frozen breaded shrimp something from china would be my guess , the crab cake not very crabby , more like stuffing with a hint of canned crab , for $28 bucks I could've had a party at a captain D's they've got better fish ,shrimp , and crab cake , how ever the fries were better here . Hush puppies exactly the same . Had one beer one margarita a piece of blueberry cheesecake . $85 plus $20 tip . My fiancé and I had dinner recently here on a Saturday evening. Restaurant wasn't busy at all. Apparently all the vehicles you see parked there are at the billiards, not the restaurant. Service took forever, food was terrible. Redfish swimming in an oily mess, overcooked and over salted. The asparagus was so overcooked it was like mushy strings left, not edible. The combo plate was cold, fish all seemed overcooked and not fresh at all. Appetizers, the stuffed mushrooms were very fishy tasting, the crab claws were just sub par, the oysters were overcooked. Honestly the only thing any good was the drinks and those took way too long to get served. Way overpriced for the terrible quality of food. I had a gift certificate for $150 and our total was over $200. The restaurant has great ambiance, but we definitely won't be back. Like someone else said on here captain Ds is much better and cheaper. read more

Half Shell Oyster House has an amazing menu with many seafood favorites. The bar has a vast selection of spirits and wine. We sat at the bar and felt that all of our needs were met. Food is good. The service was fine. Relaxed place. But unfortunately I have to complain about the bathrooms here. There is no soap to wash your hands with and these photos are a week apart. I'm alarmed that they can't bother to put a soap dispenser of any kind to maintain proper hygiene. Not sure I'll be coming here anytime soon. read more

I ordered the oyster sampler plate to go. I picked my food up just as it was being placed in the bag. I was disappointed in the size of the oysters (none of the 4 varieties looked at all like the pictures posted). There was absolutely no sauce or liquid in any of the oysters. The juices had spilled onto the rock salt that the oysters were sitting on. No effort was made to make sure the oysters didn't move around during the car ride. The bread was OK after warming in the oven, but there was no liquid to soak up. read more

The food & drinks were just not good at all. Food arrived cold, ginger beer was flat for my mule but the restaurant still gave it to me and food was tasteless. We love this place. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love the lady bartender. The food is great. I had Royal Redfish: Bronzed redfish served over a bed of grilled asparagus and Cajun boiled mashed potatoes, topped with Royal Red shrimp sautéed in a white wine cream sauce and Parmesan cheese. And their Half Shell Salad is great also. My favorite drink is blueberry pomegranate sangria. They are a little pricey but there are good dishes for reasonable prices or for a special trip. read more

Went here with high hopes to enjoy oysters for lunch upon seating took 45 minutes to get us our char boiled oysters, which sat there and got cold because the bread that supposed to go along side it was not there 10 minutes later when the bread arrived to the table the char boiled oysters were cold, and the butter was all dried up and this was supposed to be our appetizer and when the oysters came, they were not properly shucked . They were very greedy and dirty, which is not the restaurants fault, but they were not shucked properly. I felt like I was having a fight with my oyster while wanting to slurp it down and then we ordered a burger, medium but the Burger arrived way well done and dried up but it felt like trash. I should've gone to Burger King if I wanted to have a burger. I don't remember service ever being bad over here never having a bad experience if they were short a shucker then they should have relayed that message so u could have come back another day it was my husband's birthday lunch, and it was all ruined The server was very nice and very sweet. It's the management's so disappointed. Don't think I'm gonna be going back there for oysters again it's just put a bad taste in my mouth and a dent in my wallet as well. read more

Appetizers were served, had to ask for silverware, by the time she waited on all her other tables she finally brought us utensils, at this point it was cold. We went on a Sunday evening at 6:30. Place was not full. We ordered a dozen charbroiled oysters and it was good. 2 of the oysters had a flat oyster. Looked more like it cooked too long. We ordered seafood pasta, seafood platter, red royal pasta, and mahi Savannah. Mahi was salty, seafood dishes again salty, the pasta plates were warm to touch. My green beans sides were cold and soggy and looked old. Of the seafood dishes we ate, the oysters were probably decent. The value of food, not worth the money. read more

The food was very tasty with decent portions ( I had to get a to go plate) . We've frequented the one downtown prior to this one opening, but it's great to have one closer.
