Stopped by Half Shell Oyster Bar for happy hour and had a good experience! We sat at the and the bartenders were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Drinks were $2 off during happy hour. We ordered the fried crab claws and the chargrilled oysters, and both were excellent. The crab claws were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the chargrilled oysters were hot, buttery, and absolutely delicious. They paired perfectly with happy hour drinks. If you're looking for a great spot for happy hour with tasty appetizers, great service, and a relaxed vibe, I definitely recommend checking out Half Shell Oyster Bar. We'll definitely be back!

We had a group of 5 ladies for brunch. Most of us ordered varieties of mimosas. I ordered the Seafood Sampler with Argentina Grilled Shrimp and the Seafood Stuffed Portabella. It comes with a Boudin Ball, Hushpuppies, Fries and a Side. I ordered Hashbrown Sticks which were crispy and well seasoned. The Seafood Stuffed Portabella was the star of the show for me. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals.

Met 2 friends here for dinner after work. We were able to catch Happy Hour where the drinks are $2 off. Our wait staff Chelsea was very kind and attentive but not bothersome. I got the sampler with 2 picks of fried catfish and grilled shrimp... this comes with fries, hushpuppies, a boudin ball, French bread and a side. So much food for a great price. Overall we enjoyed the food, drinks and service.

Absolutely love this place! We came in on our 3 years anniversary and sat at the bar and Becky (the bartender) was amazing! Like words cannot describe how amazing she was. The food was incredible love the aura of this place. They offer dining and bar seating. It's a nice sized restaurant but I would definitely make a reservation for weekend nights. Overall I cannot say a bad thing about this place! Will definitely be back!

My wife and I met some friends here for dinner this evening and enjoyed some fantastic service and delicious food. Aubrey did a great job making sure our visit was very good. Ask for her area to sit in. I enjoyed a half order of Oysters Orleans and a bowl of red beans and rice. I did miss having a little andouille sausage in the serving but it tasted very good. My wife had the shrimp and grits. All the food was outstanding. We finished off with some cinnamon roll bread pudding. Highly recommend.

This is the 3rd time I've eaten at this place. We normally go when we are in Mobile but they now have a location in Birmingham! It's aerially in an old elementary school. It's a very neat set up. Anyways- to the food.... We love the fried crab claws and crab and shrimp au gratin. For the main- I love the crab cake. I just tried the Redfish Orleans and it was really good. For desert- I had the bread pudding and cheesecake. You can't go wrong with anything here. The restaurants is beautifully decorated and has nice music. There is a huge bar. Our waitress was beyond wonderful. We were greeted by a very polite hostess as we walked through the door. I love being able to have this restaurant closer than Mobile! I know Mobile was the original Half Shell but this one is no different!

Upon entering, I was greeted by a charming open-space ambiance that was well-lit and inviting. I want to take a moment to mention that our host was one of the nicest and friendliest people I've encountered in a long time. If you're in the Pelham, Alabama area, make sure to stop by and see Andrea. She was exceptionally courteous and offered some great suggestions. She definitely knows how to time the appetizers, which were delicious, and the entrées came out at just the right pace. I was pleasantly surprised by the steak; it was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly definitely not overdone. The chef really knows what they're doing there. For my side, I had asparagus with sweet potato brûlée, and it was fantastic. Overall, I would rate the entire meal a perfect 10 out of 10. The seafood platter was also really good, with everything freshly cooked. The burger had an excellent flavor, too. Although I didn't have dessert this time, I definitely plan to go back soon to try some of the dessert options.

Starting off i have been here quite a few times. And each time I have absolutely loved it and what this amazing dining restaurant brings to Pelham. I was able to come to have a team meeting and I was able to enjoy a dish of Voodoo Shrimp to start out and finish up with the Shrimp and Grits/Bacon. The staff and service was amazing and checked on us multiple times. Cannot say enough about them. The restaurant was also super clean and tidy so I really appreciate that when I walked in. The restaurant is in what used to be an Old Elementary School Building and they transformed it into a fully unique experience. The music in the background was soft and the bar and tables looked so nice. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to or visiting Pelham to eat!

When visiting family on the holidays, I always drive by this restaurant and it's been calling my name for years! Lucky for me, my dad was ready to try something new so we stopped by for lunch. This establishment is large and open, it felt like I was back in New Orleans with its decor of iron fences, and lots of dark red brick. We started with an appetizer of oysters on the half shell which were so fresh and some of the best oysters I've had in a while (I live in Florida on the Atlantic and know fresh oyster) Next, we tried the soup. We had a cup of gumbo and a cup of the corn and Seafood bisque. We inhale them! They both held such flavor and were filled with ingredients. Some of the better soups I've had at any Seafood restaurant. We also shared some of the fried oysters which were battered and fried to perfection. Very tasty. The service was accommodating, helpful, and we were never left to need. A perfect visit with a perfect menu. Go try half shell oyster House in Pelham if you haven't.

I also had the smokehouse burger, and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked just right. What really stood out beyond the food was the overall experience. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, which made us feel right at home. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, and even the bathrooms were spotless, which always says a lot about a place. It also hasn't been very busy the times we've gone, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Even so, the food came out quickly and was still hot and fresh, which is the best of both worlds. If you're looking for great Southern food, friendly service, and a laid-back dining experience, Dale's Southern Grill is definitely worth a visit. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the kids' chicken finger meal. I tried one of the chicken fingers when biting it to give to my toddler, and it wasn't good. The taste was weird and it was gummy. Because of the intense Alabama heat, we chose to sit inside, though they have a really nice screened-in patio available. The restaurant is intimate but well laid out, featuring a couple of distinct dining areas and a bar. Since it was our first time, our server, Daniella, recommended the candied bacon bombs to start. They came with a side of cheese curds, and both were absolutely delicious. Even as small as the curds were, they had a perfect cheese pull! For our mains, I ordered the cowboy burger with an added egg and a side of sweet potato fries, while my son chose the shrimp and grits. My burger was incredible, a solid 9.5 out of 10. My son rated his shrimp and grits a 7, though he has a lot of experience with that dish to compare it to. Daniella provided fantastic service, checking in at just the right times without hovering. I later realized I forgot to ask if they do anything special for birthdays, but honestly, my son was probably glad I forgot! We had squash casserole, Mac and cheese, yams, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, and yeast rolls. I know, I know - we went light on the vegetables. Their squash casserole is talked up as their specialty, and it was very good. Nice squash and onion flavor. Mac had great cheddar flavor and wasn't overcooked. Delicious, actually house-made yeast rolls. And the fried okra, heavily breaded, has an awesome crunch! Mashed potatoes were the weak link; I've had much better. Yams were the perfect balance of cinnamon and sweetness, but without being overpowering. My dad got the fried snapper with pinto beans and collards. He liked it all. My mom thought the pintos were too salty, but I just thought they had a nice meaty flavor. Corn muffin was a little dry. The fried snapper was crispy and not fishy at all! Big win there. My wife ordered the Fried Mississippi Catfish with fries and coleslaw, along with jalapeño hush puppies. The fried chicken and catfish were the stars of the meal. Both came out piping hot, crispy, and well seasoned. My chicken had plenty of flavor to stand on its own, but the Sweet Heat sauce complemented it nicely and added another layer of flavor without overpowering the chicken. The French fries were excellent and easily the best side. Crispy, hot, and exactly how fries should arrive. The remaining sides didn't reach the same level. We both found the vinegar-and-mayo coleslaw somewhere between average and below average. I felt about the same about my baked beans. My wife thought the jalapeño hush puppies were average. If you want excellent hush puppies, Shrimp & Co. in Hueytown remains our standard. Both of our meals were also served with a thick slice of white bread, which fit the simple, down-home presentation. This was our second or third visit to Champy's, and the food that matters most has been excellent each time. The sides may be hit or miss, but they know how to fry some chicken and catfish. Come for the chicken and catfish, definitely get the fries, and consider the other sides supporting players.
