This is the 3rd time I've eaten at this place. We normally go when we are in Mobile but they now have a location in Birmingham! It's aerially in an old elementary school. It's a very neat set up. Anyways- to the food.... We love the fried crab claws and crab and shrimp au gratin. For the main- I love the crab cake. I just tried the Redfish Orleans and it was really good. For desert- I had the bread pudding and cheesecake. You can't go wrong with anything here. The restaurants is beautifully decorated and has nice music. There is a huge bar. Our waitress was beyond wonderful. We were greeted by a very polite hostess as we walked through the door. I love being able to have this restaurant closer than Mobile! I know Mobile was the original Half Shell but this one is no different!

Upon entering, I was greeted by a charming open-space ambiance that was well-lit and inviting. I want to take a moment to mention that our host was one of the nicest and friendliest people I've encountered in a long time. If you're in the Pelham, Alabama area, make sure to stop by and see Andrea. She was exceptionally courteous and offered some great suggestions. She definitely knows how to time the appetizers, which were delicious, and the entrées came out at just the right pace. I was pleasantly surprised by the steak; it was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly definitely not overdone. The chef really knows what they're doing there. For my side, I had asparagus with sweet potato brûlée, and it was fantastic. Overall, I would rate the entire meal a perfect 10 out of 10. The seafood platter was also really good, with everything freshly cooked. The burger had an excellent flavor, too. Although I didn't have dessert this time, I definitely plan to go back soon to try some of the dessert options.

When visiting family on the holidays, I always drive by this restaurant and it's been calling my name for years! Lucky for me, my dad was ready to try something new so we stopped by for lunch. This establishment is large and open, it felt like I was back in New Orleans with its decor of iron fences, and lots of dark red brick. We started with an appetizer of oysters on the half shell which were so fresh and some of the best oysters I've had in a while (I live in Florida on the Atlantic and know fresh oyster) Next, we tried the soup. We had a cup of gumbo and a cup of the corn and Seafood bisque. We inhale them! They both held such flavor and were filled with ingredients. Some of the better soups I've had at any Seafood restaurant. We also shared some of the fried oysters which were battered and fried to perfection. Very tasty. The service was accommodating, helpful, and we were never left to need. A perfect visit with a perfect menu. Go try half shell oyster House in Pelham if you haven't.

Fast service and cool ambiance, as this New Orleans themed restaurant is inside of an old elementary school. The red snapper in orleans sauce was extremely flavorful and delicious. The sides of grits and mashed potatoes with everything on top was also excellent. Highly recommend the Key Lime Margarita, a summer special

I went to Half Shell for a Halentines dinner and had a lovely time. I ordered the seafood stuffed mushrooms which were great and got broccoli and sweet potatoes on the side. Such a fun environment and a great time hanging with my friends!

Yelp! The aesthetics of Pelham is Amazing! Drew your service was amazing too. Thank you. Now on to this food that is not as Amazing. We are a party of 10 celebrating Leiah, Birthday and Nursing school. We gots everything. Starters were Oysters and Voodoo wings. Everybody raved! For main dishes, not so much. Catfish, really popular grilled and fried both delicious. But these sides suck! Greens, terrible. Sweet potato brûlée, yuck. So soupy you can drink it. Red beans and rice, tasty. Fried green tomatoes, good. Salads, good. Grits, decent. Chicken Alfredo and seafood Alfredo, both were bland. It needed more sauce, seasoning and cheese. Then there was the burnt steak. Rubber! Yall already know, I can't come back with this food.

    Punch ! Ummm

We had Half Shells brunch and was pleasantly surprised with how amazing the banana Foster French toast was not super heavy and breaded. It was a little light and delicious and not overly sweet. We also had a crabcake . The light jazz in the background was nice and The service was amazing best service we have had there in a long Emma was cheerful, prompt , and even handle a problem with gift professional ..and efficient.the one negative is the bar . Every time the bar is to slow getting drinks to table this time food came out before food .Seems to be an ongoing issue.other than that food was amazing. And service . Thanks Emma

Food was decent. The Cajun oysters were great, pasta was bland. Seafood dip was nasty. Service was good, and place had a nice vibe.

I also had the smokehouse burger, and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked just right. What really stood out beyond the food was the overall experience. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, which made us feel right at home. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, and even the bathrooms were spotless, which always says a lot about a place. It also hasn't been very busy the times we've gone, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Even so, the food came out quickly and was still hot and fresh, which is the best of both worlds. We actually loved it so much that we went back again just a couple of days later, and it was just as good the second time around. If you're looking for great Southern food, friendly service, and a laid-back dining experience, Dale's Southern Grill is definitely worth a visit. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the kids' chicken finger meal. I tried one of the chicken fingers when biting it to give to my toddler, and it wasn't good. The taste was weird and it was gummy. I ended up not giving her them.

They gave my dad an extra corn muffin when they saw he got beans and greens. Can't do that without cornbread! My mom and I both got vegetable plates. We had squash casserole, Mac and cheese, yams, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, and yeast rolls. I know, I know - we went light on the vegetables. Their squash casserole is talked up as their specialty, and it was very good. Nice squash and onion flavor. Mac had great cheddar flavor and wasn't overcooked. Delicious, actually house-made yeast rolls. And the fried okra, heavily breaded, has an awesome crunch! Mashed potatoes were the weak link; I've had much better. Yams were the perfect balance of cinnamon and sweetness, but without being overpowering. My dad got the fried snapper with pinto beans and collards. He liked it all. My mom thought the pintos were too salty, but I just thought they had a nice meaty flavor. Corn muffin was a little dry. The fried snapper was crispy and not fishy at all! Big win there. We all agreed we'd return if we found ourselves in the neighborhood again.

Only concern was I asked for Champy's sauce with the tender basket, looked at it in the parking lot and noticed it looked like their honey mustard instead. Spoke to a waitress (not the one who helped us at drive thru) and I explained that I wanted Champy's sauce. She said "uh huh" confused and I held up what I had saying it tasted like honey mustard. She said yes Champy's sauce is honey mustard based. I told her I've been to (and worked as a teenager) at Champy's before in Tennessee and the color was more yellow than the orange I'm used to (like they added too much honey mustard) and again it tasted exactly like honey mustard. She explained that the Champy's sauce (and red heat) recipe was different at their location. I took her answer and left. Not sure if I indeed had honey mustard (they come in the same containers) and she didn't want to double check or if their Champy's sauce recipe really is just primarily honey mustard. I think the people of Alabama are missing out though on the champys sauce from the original location in Chattanooga, not sure why there is so much variation between locations.
