What a fun time tonight. The service makes you feel comfortable and adored! The bartender Dan is the bomb. The outdoor area is comfortable and content in terms of covid. They're spacing and cleanliness is on par with New York standards. I asked for music and for music! The drinks are big and bold. The food is tasty. Our waitress was so fun!

Burger cooked to temperature perfect Fries with no salt had salt No care taken in packing food Adult Mac n cheese had barely any topping/bacon but was delicious No forks/napkins/ketchup in bag. Ordered sautéed onions on burger and there were none.

Clearly shows no charge for substituting mashed potatoes for rice.

Used to love this place pre-Covid, but the place has gone downhill. On our LAST visit, the service was slow (the place was nearly empty). The waitress looked like she could care less about helping us, which was apparent when I watched her count her tips behind the bar 5 minutes after I asked for refills. To top it all off, I was charged $2.50 for a substitution of mashed potatoes instead of rice for my entree, even though the menu clearly states no charge for a substitution like this. When I saw the bill and questioned the waitress, she flat-out lied to my face that this is correct and it doesn't state that on the menu. My kids don't like me making a fuss, so I paid the bill and left. We won't be coming back; there are plenty of great pubs in the area with better food and service.

Basil Burrata app; Best in Warwick

Pros: If your heading into Halligan's you might not think your going to be getting amazing food but the culinary program here is actually my favorite in Warwick. Now if your thinking about getting the appetizer sampler, DON'T! Halligan's has amazing apps. The Basil Burratta is actually my favorite app of all time, every time I visit my family this is what I need to get. I would avoid the fried foods but almost everything is amazing. Cons: The wine is cheap which is great on my wallet but not on the taste buds. On the weekends they convert the place into a make shift club by bringing in a DJ which makes the place swarm with barely legal drunks that constantly start fights and get way too drunk.

Please don't mistake the mushrooms for the supposed flank steak that I received a few overdone slices of for almost $40

We went to their Rockaway Mall location and walked right in with no wait. The staff were friendly and everyone was in a festive mood. The place was clean and much more comfortable than the other location. We got a booth and placed our order...Shepherds Pie and Fish & Chips. The food was great...delicious crunchy Fish and not saturated with oil, that you usually get at other places. Our waitress had quick service us and we enjoyed the gentleman on the bagpipes as we waited and during our dinner. Definitely will go back, even when it's not St Paddy's Day!!

I chose the corned beef reuben on rye with a garden salad. The 1/2 sandwich was served open-face and included swiss, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing. The garden salad was a very generous serving with an italian dressing on the side. All were wonderful. I ordered a pint of a NY State "hazy IPA," which went perfectly with the food and tasted terrific. We sat in the "grassy" (it's turf) area which is shaded by trees. I felt like I was in Europe, except when the LIRR trains came roaring by. It's adjacent to the tracks, but there are trees that separate you. Highly recommend for the beer and food!

They put "Sports Bar" in the online listing so all the hotshot, sports crazed lunatics know exactly where to go to yell at a screen. Inside, it's the same old story. You've got a long, dark wood bar behind a long dark haired bartender in tight black clothes. These walls are lined with glowing television screens showing sports games like the damn Jets that everyone is paying attention to but me. When i walked in there's a guy sitting by himself at the bar in a khaki shirt, staring down at his hands or his phone, looking completely miserable while light bulbs that were hanging from the ceiling in what looked like metal cages were tearing at my retina. (In all fairness, i do have an eye issue). That's what people do it seems to me, they pay money to go sit in a dark room with and feel lonely, together. Its free at the county lock up and if you drink and drive, step right up and blow because your taking the ride to central booking. I know nothing about this. Then I looked over at the bar top and they've got these fancy beer glasses filled up to the brim, a cool dark draft beer in a pint and a Stella Artois in a chalice, it was sitting right in front of me but it wasnt mine. I beckoned the bartender to "let me have the same". Reflections of glowing televisions illuminated by neon blue lights and rows of prettu liquor bottles above me and more beers being passed around to my right and to my left. Outside, it's completely packed under these warm hanging lights, full of people crammed together in the dark. I noticed that lot of guys wearing baseball caps and that is so prole, leave the baseball hat at home, your an adult, dress like one. They're was even a guy wearing a cowboy hat standing around drinking his beer, talking loud. I wore a cowboy hat once, i was seven years old. It just drives me crazy. The whole place is just sports screens, wooden bar stools, hanging bulbs, and a bunch of phonies trying to forget how depressed they are. It really is.

And considering this restaurant has been around since 1885, they likely happened here itself. The cigar smoke that once clouded the halls have been replaced with a more casual ambience - particularly at lunch, where I found myself. Still though, the various halls, stairs, and old framed pictures and art that hang give you the feeling that you sit where those who made the decisions once sat. And I find that really cool. So ultimately this is still a restaurant. Despite being a steakhouse, they're most known for their mutton chop - something that comes in a 26 oz, gigantic saddle cut that includes both the loin and the tenderloin of a sheep. I was by myself this meal - so there was no way I was getting that. Thankfully - and this is something I really appreciate - they offer a 10 oz version of the same iconic dish, known as the Taste of Mutton, for a much smaller price. Don't have much to add on the bread/butter that came out first. Both were relatively standard. Then came the mutton chop, which I asked to be cooked medium. The first thing that was clear was they left the au jus under the meat, which I appreciate. It provided a fantastic dipping/mixing combination for the salad also present on the plate. This was quite good. The cook was basically perfect, as essentially all the fat rendered really well. Most of the fat is concentrated on the two belly flaps on either side, and the loin part is on the leaner side, but I didn't think this harmed it too much. As far as the taste, I'd describe it as more similar to steak than I thought. I was expecting something on the gamier side closer to duck, but this felt a lot more like steak tenderloin than anything else. It was pretty juicy at every point - not really being dry at all - and I got a lot of umami from it. There were a few downsides though. One is that the crust was pretty lacking. I was expecting dark brown and a char from the high-heat broiler used, but what I got was more glossy, medium-brown, and shiny. It didn't feel special texture wise at all, and the texture wasn't really there. Also, it wasn't seasoned with enough salt. I had to add a lot more from the salt shaker on my table. Something that really helped was the mint jelly. This might be the best condiment I've ever been given on a cut of meat. The mint flavor works so well with the sweetness of the jelly. It's not like mint ice cream - it's kind of like a really clear and good-tasting toothpaste, if that makes sense. But it pairs amazingly well with the rich, umami, fatty meat. The combination of this condiment on the mutton was ridiculously addicting. I paid around 45 in total including tax/tip for this chop. I'd say the taste of mutton is enough for one person, including the bread that you also get. On the expensive side, but glad that this exists so I don't have to get the full thing. Overall, it's an iconic place that still retains its old stature, and makes some high-quality food still, although I was more impressed by the environment than the dish. 8.75/10
