These are probably the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. A bit on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. These things are heavy and loaded with goodness. If you get more than one burrito, the to-go bag will tear under the pressure! Their homemade salsa is very tasty. The special cookies they have are worth a try too. The staff has always been as nice as can be. You can tell they appreciate their customers here. Update: after eating about 10+ burritos, I've determined that attempting to eat only half -or a portion of your burrito, is almost impossible. What a hidden little gem. We tried the double meat breakfast burrito and the ham and egg muffin both well done. The burrito was not overloaded with potatoes like other places but was very well balanced. Perfect amounts of bacon and ham with potatoes, bell peppers, onions, cheese and egg. Amazing! On a Saturday morning I had a craving for breakfast burritos...which I rarely do because I am not a fan of breakfast burritos. Of course being pregnant brings a lot of cravings and this being one of them. I yelp breakfast places and this place came up. I ended up ordering their breakfast burrito, took it home with some salsa and wow I gotta say, for not being a fan of breakfast burritos, this was delicioius. I bought 2 one for me and my boyfriend. I gotta say, we were both impressed and the cost for the breakfast burrito is well worth it. The owner is usually there and he is very friendly! If you become a usual, he will offer to take a picture of you and post it on his wall with others that are usual customers...if you want it. This has been one of the more difficult reviews to write on considering nothing I say will actually justify the amazingness that I experienced from this place. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't find this place on Yelp. I searched "early breakfast" and this was the first restaurant that showed up that was in the vicinity of where I live. I went here not expecting anything with my boyfriend. We were greeted immediately upon entering the place. Not knowing exactly what it is that we should order, we ended up with the breakfast plate. Needless to say, the breakfast was amazing. I haven't had ham that good since Honey Baked Ham and that was eons ago. The owner was even kind enough to give my boyfriend and I a sample of the two soups that they had that day. It was my first try at the split pea soup. After finishing the sample...I think I would be afraid to have split pea soup elsewhere. I don't think any other soup can compare to the amazing flavor/texture of the soup I had at Ham 'n Scram. I had originally bookmarked this place long time ago and forgot about going here. My friend decided he wanted to go here so I was like sure! Upon arriving to this place, I was super hungry. My friend and I hadn't eaten at all yet and it was close to 12pm. I came here today, which is a Wednesday, and at first look the place looked pretty small. But right when you walk in the people are embrace you with open arms. They greet you when you first walk into that door. Pretty awesome. What did we order... The original breakfast burrito and the ham n' scram on an English Muffin. Okay so the breakfast burrito looked so bomb compared to my English muffin ham 'n scram but dude.... it was like an elevated McDonald's Egg McMuffin. They offer four different types of cheeses and I chose swiss. It looks dinky compared to the burrito but it definitely stuffed my 5'0" medium-sized body frame with ease. I really liked my Ham 'n Scram on an English Muffin and my friend definitely liked his burrito. He didn't even have to use Tobasco sauce because they offered the salsa and the flavors were quite nice as is. A great added factor when eating here was the owner was so gracious to offer us soup samples. He made sure we got our waters served to us and handed us salsa. It was like he was waiting on us but they didn't really have to but it was so nice of him to do so. Back to the soup samples, they were pretty big samples. If I eyeballed it, probably about 1/4 c. of soup was offered of both the pea split soup and the chilli with ham. When I tasted the Split Pea Soup, it wasn't that bad. I do like peas but usually I like it as whole so I was okay with that soup. Although, I think the owner is a huge split pea soup fan because he had a button "I love Pea Soup" placed upon his visor and he offers the soup on a daily basis. But the chilli with ham was pretty amazing. It wasn't typical chilli. You can say it was more like a sweet/tangy veggie soup with ham. I liked it a lot. Next time I come here, I definitely want to try their corn beef sandwich. YUMMM! I cannot wait for my next visit!!! Boyfriend and I have been here two different times for Saturday morning brunch, and they have been great both times. The man that works the register is great. Friendly, attentive, and just super awesome. Makes us feel welcome and wanted as soon as we walk through the door. The ham n egg burrito is delicious. They give you a side of salsa, and you can grab whatever other hot sauce you want from the counter, sriracha included! I felt relatively full after eating only half my burrito and ended up giving the remaining half to the bf who finished it included his full burrito. If you come hungry, you'll devour all of it, easy. I've ordered the breakfast plate as well which came with eggs, hash brown, ham, bacon and toast. Also, super delish and filling! They gave us a sample of their pea soup and it did not disappoint! Went to this place on the recommendation of a friend who, incidentally, had a frequent visitor card in the cupholder of his car. I got the breakfast burrito filled with ham, eggs, potatoes, jalapenos and bacon and it was DELICIOUS, especially with the homemade salsa that the owner, Forrest, offered us. Boyfriend got the ham&cheese sandwich. Ham was real - thick and juicy - and the cheese was melted on butter-toasted wheat bread. Tasty but not my cup of tea. The owner, Forrest, was really nice and talked to us for a while while we were eating and was really helpful. Oh! The cookies are also really good - we got the bacon chocolate chip and the s'mores. If I could describe Ham n Scram in one word....I would not be able to do it. When you first walk through the door, you notice how small this place is. But just like Asian girls, the best ones come in small packages (shout outs to my baby girl!) With one foot in the door, you'll immediately be greeted by Forrest in the most professional and genuine way possible. If you're a first timer, he will guide you through the whole menu and you'll be stuck debating what you want to get. I've tried many things from the menu but the two that stand out are the breakfast burrito and the corn chowder. The breakfast burrito is the best breakfast burrito I have ever had! It is stuffed generously and the flavors of the peppers, cheese, egg, ham, bacon completely blend and complement each other. The bacon is SUPER crispy so it adds a nice crunch. The best part of it all is that is it flat pressed on the griddle! So both sides of the burrito are crispy and nice. Definitely a must have! The corn chowder...I have dreams of this corn chowder. It's a shame they don't have it everyday because it is awesome. It can't even begin to describe it, but it is perfect and loaded with corn. Oh and they ALWAYS run out of the chowder so hop on that fast. Enough said! From the food to the customer service, this place is awesome. Forrest remembers pretty much ALL of his customers by the second or third time they come back in. I took about a three month break from Han n Scram and Forrest still remembered me... First time to Ham & Scram, thanks to finding out about it here on Yelp. Thanks, Yelpers! Went here this morning to try their Ham & Egg burrito. Was the only one in the place, so got to chat for a while with the owner, Forrest. (He and his son run H&S) Such a nice guy, and you can tell he loves what he is doing. We talked about how he started the place, and he told me about how he runs his business. Keep it up, Forrest! I'll be telling everyone about this place! I got my wonderful-smelling burrito and trekked to work. The burrito was pretty hefty! It doesn't look it when you get it at first, but it is a pretty decent size! It's toasted so it's sealed pretty good and just looks fantastic! I think I inhaled it. And every bite had a nice chunk of smoked ham in it. That, along with the eggs, cheese and other ingredients made for a pretty tasty and filling burrito. The salsa that came with it was very good, too! Unfortunately there wasn't any soup available, but you can guarantee that I'll be back to try those. Especially the Split Pea. So for me, so worth the price. They have a smaller menu but I think it's better to do a few things right than to do many things just 'ok'. Again, I'll be going back. Came in this morning (5/5/2016). I have been trying to find a local breakfast burrito place that I would be able to call home and unfortunately I have yet to find it. Considering how high these reviews are, I thought this place might live up to them. I'm not sure what the hype is all about. I ordered their Ham Burrito and was throughly disappointed. The burrito itself is nice and thick (it filled me up with no problem), but for $8 I don't think this breakfast burrito is worth it. It tastes very bland and they only give you one small container of sauce. I don't know about you, but I like to use plenty of sauce when I have a burrito so I wish they would provide a little more. Again, the burrito was pretty bland tasting. I might try this place again - maybe I just came on a bad day. Came back a second time just to give it another chance. Got a breakfast bowl and a BLT. The breakfast bowl still had soggy hash browns, but actually tasted better with the salsa that they give you. I find it odd that it comes with salsa, who eats salsa for breakfast? The BLT was just your standard BLT. It wasn't anything special. It comes with a pickle and a bag of chips. I ended up giving the owner the pickle because I'm not a big pickle person. The service here is great, everyone is super nice. We stumbled on this place on a trip we recently took. The food was very good! The burrito was fresh, and the salsa was legit. My only complaint was when one of the workers that worked in the back, was very rude to an older cashier that was questioning him about a coupon that another customer wanted to use. Best breakfast burritos ever. Full stop. The ham is always moist and the breakfast burrito has the right ratio of hash browns, eggs and cheese. I don't know what is in the side of salsa but it is a perfect compliment. I'm never disappointed coming here and while satisfied the breakfast burrito never leaves me feeling lethargic. I also had to try the ham cakes, which are crabs cakes but with ham and an egg on top. While I did enjoy the ham cakes, I prefer the burrito as a ham delivery mechanism. They are worth trying but in addition to the burrito, split them with a friend. Seating is somewhat limited but I've never had to wait for a seat. Most people seem to take it to go. Seal Beach Pier and Sunset Beach are a few miles away if you want to take it to go and eat an amazing burrito by the ocean. Really the thing that put it over the top was the owner and the service. I've been passing by this place for awhile now and I was drawn in by the name. Hmm, I love ham and I love scram...Might as well check it out. Well, I was greeted by a really friendly guy behind the counter and he told me about their steak burrito. Steak, egg, onions, bacon? Sign me up! It was deliciously devoured in no time! It also came with a homemade salsa that was different from all the commercial salsas my burrito is usually accompanied by. The burrito itself could have used a touch more salt but all in all, not a bad $7. They have a small menu which I appreciate because it allows them to concentrate on the ones they have. Also, they have a Bacon-Chocolate Chip Cookie that I am currently munching on while writing this review. Mmm, not bad but I'm a bacon lover and I think it could use more bacon.
