I love stopping by this place for their burritos. I hear their soups are fantastic, but I'm always wanting the Ham&Egg burrito so I never end up trying it. The hash browns inside are the perfect amount and the melted cheese makes everything so delicious. My sweetheart absolutely loves their double meat burrito. I do too, but I love my hash browns more. I never finish anything I order, except my food here. And it's definitely not a small burrito so this place is a must try. The meat here is top quality so expect an amazing meal. If you're a Phan of salsa like I am, you might want to ask for extra of their homemade salsa. It's more on taste than burning your taste buds off. read more

The first time I went was at 5:30am, when they first open. Jeremy popped out of the back and fixed up perfect eggs and toast for us while we helped ourselves to fresh tasty coffee. Forrest came in shortly after, beginning the entertaining conversation, and welcoming atmosphere. Note - this review spans multiple visits. I've picked up burritos here many times go to and have eaten in at others. Double meat breakfast burrito - enough said. Best burrito around. They are huge, as I usually eat half one day and half the next, and the salsa goes great with it. The ingredients are fresh, the ham is flavorful (though could have a bit more smokiness) and the customer service is great as well. I've only been there a handful of times but this is now the new tradition whenever my brother comes to town. Drawbacks - very little seating, ham could use a bit more smoke, and the salsa is on the blander side. Sometime, I'll have to try something else on the menu - but it will be hard opting for something else. read more

First off, let me say, the food is very good. It's the vibe from the staff that keeps me away. For the few tables they have, it's in too close proximity to constantly hear the owners and employees shamelessly plugging the restaurant. It just gets annoying. I wouldn't mind such a small place if I wasn't listening to that my entire meal. I love and support small, local, mom n pop joints... but the loud and constant self-promotion was so off-putting. The cashier was very defensive and insulting mixed with being friendly (and making sure you noticed how friendly she was by complimenting herself about knowing peoples' names and just being very overt with the friendliness) at the same time. She called customers cheaters for checking in after their order to get their free drink and made a rude quip about someone trying to get extra salsa without paying for it. It's super tiny cup and the people clearly didn't know it was an extra cost when they asked. Instead of being politely informed there was an extra charge for it, the both of them made some nasty comment about trying to get things for free. Wow. What pieces of work. (Also, I don't think salsa should be an extra cost if they don't give you enough to cover a whole burrito or bowl in the first place.) The ham is clearly a high-quality meat. It's not as good as other places that pan fry the individual slices because the ham stays its pretty bland, unseasoned self. It's still very good though. I had the breakfast bowl and my husband got the soup and sandwich. The breakfast bowl was good, as well was the sandwich. The breakfast bowl was just the right combination of big chunks of ham, scrambled eggs, a few hash browns, and plenty of cheese. There's just something that could be done to bring out more flavor of the ham. As far as the sandwich goes, it was good as well. Ham, cheese, mustard, and tomato made a solid standard ham sandwich. The rye bread wasn't awesome as it was just a touch stale for being preserved rye but nothing to complain too much about. The pea soup had that good homemade taste to it but was a touch on the watery side. Good food, good service, and friendliness can be done in a much more subtle way. Extra friendly, this is my kinda place. not only do they specialize in breakfast burritos. They sell ham bones to make your own soup at home, they are even offering to cook your ham for you! How helpful and more so thoughtful! Bought a bone for making a soup and it was delish! I freaken loved how much meat came on the bone and it made for a special treat for the puppies when I was done boiling it! My husband and I sought this place out because the yelp reviews. We are about 15 miles away and were looking for a place to eat brunch. The owner (who worked the counter) was super friendly and chatty! It is a small place but it wasn't super packed or anything, we must have missed the Sunday breakfast rush. The breakfast burritos were smaller than we were used to, however the perfect size. We both ate the whole thing and were very satisfied. Both environment and food excellent! Definitely appreciate an owner that works in his own spot. We love supporting family owned businesses. They even make homemade soups there! For sure worth the drive to me ;) read more

The double meat burrito is a brilliant concoction of generous portions of ham and bacon mixed with cheese, green peppers, eggs, and potato. This is no ordinary ham, either. It's quality, bone-in ham that's been roasted to perfection. Seriously, my burrito had me salivating harder than a group of housewives after seeing Magic Mike. The proprietor, Forrest, is a delightful man who goes out of his way to learn your name and be friendly. He also offers free samples of the soup, and service with a smile. If you are by the 405-N Springdale and Westminster exit, I highly suggest that you make a pit stop here for breakfast/brunch. This mom&pop store is small and easy to overlook as you drive by, but if you ever eat here, you will never drive past the area without thinking about Ham 'n Scram again. Upon entering, you are warmly greeted by the store owner and his employees. Their specials are easily visible on the wall behind the counter, and they take care to make you feel welcomed and knowledgeable about their menu. For my first time, the owner and I got to chat and get to know each other a bit which I thought was great. The walls are covered with artifacts from the owner's home state (I forget which state), and also has newspaper clippings and pictures of their honors and community recognition. Being that it is a bacon/pig/ham theme-d store, it definitely gives off a memorable impression of high-quality pork, which it definitely does. I ordered a breakfast burrito and was extremely satisfied at the tastes and portions. The owner also walked around offering samples of his split pea soup, which smelled great. If you are in a rush, be sure to call ahead of time and order because the store only has about 10 seats available, and can sometimes have a wait. read more

I checked out Ham 'N Scram on a whim... I was actually on my way to somewhere else, but found out that place was closed. Yelp saved my breakfast! Ham 'N Scram is a cozy hole in the wall breakfast joint that boasts having the #3 rated breakfast burrito in the Nation. Oh reeeaaallllyyy? I thought... I ended up getting the Double Meat burrito, and my girlfriend for the original. Now...I'm no food expert, nor am I the biggest breakfast burrito fan..but damn this burrito was good. I normally don't like green peppers in my burritos, since a lot of the times they're not properly cooked and overpower a lot of the other flavors. NOT here, the peppers were cooked perfectly, with a hint of flavor while keeping a crunchy consistency. The hash browns were also cooked crispy, so the entire texture of the burrito was excellent. Oh, and the ham is REAL ham...not sure if anyone gets what I mean by that, but they definitely use higher quality meat than other places. I'll definitely be back! EDIT: Just finished my leftover burrito, a full 24 hours after I got it, and a MICROWAVED Ham 'N Scram breakfast burrito beats out every other breakfast burrito I can think of within 20 miles. read more

Have been going to Ham 'n Scram for over a year now. What a great find. Place is small, and menu is likewise small, but everything on the menu is very good. The food is all breakfast / lunch items. The breakfast burrito is probably the most popular item on the menu, and I highly recommend. Also quite good are the breakfast plates, soups, and sandwiches. This is just good, honest food. The ham and bacon are especially good. The place is small, only 4 or 5 tables. I almost always get take-out. Recommend calling ahead for take-out, because this place can get busy. The owner is a really nice guy, always very friendly and accommodating to all his customers. read more

Woke up at noon and by the time i got out of the house, it was 2pm. Met up with a friend to get a late breakfast (yes really really late breakfast, but we both were craving breakfast). We first went to Kayes Kitchen in Garden Grove and got there at 1:55pm. They said they were closed. The sign says they close at 2pm daily, didnt know. So we tried Omelette House and got there at 2:05pm. Walked in and the guy said, sorry fellas, we closed at 2pm....great. So we got on yelp and searched for the next closest breakfast joint and saw that Ham n Scram closed at 3pm, coo!! Off we went, driving down the 22 freeway. It was a lil further than we liked but for breakfast, we were willing to drive the 5 miles to get here. We walked in around 2:20pm and went up to the cashier to order breakfast. The clerk tells us sorry guys, we stop serving breakfast at 2pm!! NOOOOOO! Third strike for breakfast, damnnnn. The owner, his name is Forrest, hears of our plight and comes out from the ktichen and says, hey, we'll take care of you guys! Really? That made our day!! He said yes the breakfast menu does stop at 2pm and they were putting everything away but for us he was willing to make us the breakfast that we were so craving for that day. I don't even remember the name of what we ordered but it was a bowl filled with eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, cheese (basically it was the breakfast burrito I believe without the tortilla). It was damn good! I finished it in 5minutes and went away a satsifed customer. Bottom line of this review is not only what I ate was good, it was the customer service from Forrest that put this place above the rest. I think I will be heading back tomorrow or soon to try some of their other items. They gained me and my friend as a customer and I highly recommend this place if you want a good breakfast spot. Simply one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Small place and simple menu but packed with flavors. I had the ham burrito, just like the name it is packed with ham, egg peppers, cheese, and bacons. They hot pressed the tortilla which creates that perfect crunch texture to compliment to everying in between. They make it fresh as you order. It's unpretentious, just simply delicious.
