beware, this restaurant used to serve good food, owners must be different, stopped in today as we used to do traveling to fort bragg, what a mistake. ordered a vegetable omelette- must have been made with some substitute egg mix, canned mushrooms and a fake cheese, took 2 bites, it was tasteless, toast was like a brick and cold with no butter. my husbands milk was sour. i told the waitress, was not charged. i have visions of a very poorly run kitchen with outdated low quality spoiled food being served. l've never been served such a disgusting meal from a restaurant. we were the only ones there, 10 am on a monday morning. also used the restroom before being served and that was another sign to leave. i wonder where the health inspector is. I started this review before we left yesterday evening, slept on it, and finished this morning. It's the last time I'll ever come to this place. It took three trips, months apart to get to this point.... As always, take any review with a grain of salt. The first time we went it took forever to get service because the servers each thought our table was the other servers table. When we were finally served, they apologized. The food was great and we got a free desert because we kept getting slow service. Fast forward a few months. The second trip was fine. The service was quicker, but the food wasn't as amazing as we remembered. Fast forward a few more months. We got the same "not my table" service from the servers. They were not busy, maybe 1/3 full. We finally got to order. I watched my BLT get served to someone behind me...then taken back.... I watched a family of 4 who order 5-10 minutes after us get all their food. 20+ minutes later I was served a chewy, BLT with cold, cooked an hour ago bacon, that I could barely swallow and "toasted 30 minutes ago" bread that was awful. We were told "sorry for the delay we had to make fries" that went with the overly greasy hamburger...the fries were lukewarm at best (not hot). We should have walked out when we saw the people behind us get part of our order, or when the family who came in after us and ordered way after us received their food before us. Better yet we should have walked out when we got cold crappy food. I listened to our server (April by the way) apologize three times to this other couple...not once to us. I'm disappointed we were lied to. I'm sad our food was disgusting. And I'm frustrated that I didn't just get up and walk out. Wow...talk about crashing and burning. This is the second time we have been there since they changed owners. The first time was almost as bad but we reserved our opinions allowing for some transitional snafu's. The sides horrible-unseasoned pinto beans, mayonnaise-mustard globs with a few potatoes posing as potato salad and wait for it...the ribs were raw. My companion who is a champion barbecuer doesn't even think the ribs were smoked, but parboiled and finished (in as much as they were) on a grill. I'm from Sonoma, which is a little diverse, not much but a little. There are a handful of people with lots of tattoos and maybe 5 or 6 Asians. But if you go north into the woods, all that is lost. We found ourselves on N Redwood Highway on our way home from a trip up north to Mendocino. We initially stopped here to use the restroom. Since it was also lunch time, we decided to stay for the burgers! I immediately honed in on the fungi burger, which comes topped with jack cheese and sautéed mushrooms. My burger was cooked perfectly (medium) and covered in mushrooms. So many mushrooms they couldn't be contained on the burger. Also included were the standard lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Still on vacation, and throwing caution (aka healthy eating) to the wind, I enjoyed my burger AND crispy and delicious onion rings on the side. They've got three kinds of BBQ sauce, ready and waiting on each table. 1) Spicy, 2) sweet, and 3) a more tangy vinegar-based. I liked the spicy. Decent service and prices. read more

My boo and I were heading north for a small weekend getaway which ended up being a total bust, but at least we discovered this worthy pit stop out in the middle of nowhere. It's quite simple, but the food was immensely satisfying. Right when both of our stomachs started growling, I looked on Yelp for anything that could catch my eye and we happened to be approaching Cloverdale. Perfect! I'm glad I turned down the In-n-Out that we passed which, of course, I had strongly considered. They have a huge outdoor patio space under a tent and plenty of seating inside surrounded by old wood and postcards. I ordered a half rack of ribs with potato wedges, and my partner ordered the brisket with macaroni and cheese. The meat was rich in flavor, but not so much falling off the bone -- a little bit dry, although with added BBQ sauce I really didn't mind. Potato wedges were exactly what I'd have wanted. Hot and crispy but mushy potato right beneath. I also tried the brisket which was tender and tasty and dipped some wedges in the artery-clogging mac and cheese -- sooooooo good. We did need to add a little salt to the super creamy macaroni. Overall, we totally enjoyed the time it took getting off our path and stopping by Hamburger Rang and BBQ. The service was pleasant and attentive. Food - Amurican, delicious, unhealthy, and anti-vegan. Ambiance - Americun. Super casual and laid back. Came here on our way back from Oregon. It was about 11am so the waitress let us choose lunch or breakfast. Some of us chose breakfast others got lunch. Pet friendly outside patio area. The food was okay but nothing amazing. I wanted chicken thighs but waitress said they didn't have any, so I settled for pulled chicken. It appeared to look similar to cat food & the taste wasn't much better even when I smothered it in bbq sauce. It was mushy & pretty flavorless. Disappointing. The good: The butterscotch pie dessert was delish it came in a glass cup. The chili was spicy and that was good. Potato wedges were also on point. The reason for 4 stars, everything else was pretty good, just not the pulled chicken but it was saddening because I was craving bbq. Pancakes here are AMAZING & huge! A lot of places have big pancakes but these were freakin delicious fluffy hot perfect amazing. The bacon was a bit gross because the center was raw & outside was burnt but they exchanged it for sausage without issue. The service was great & friendly so that's another reason for the 4 stars. I'd definitely recommend coming here for breakfast, chili, dessert, potato wedges, we didn't get to try the macaroni because it wasn't ready yet. If their name is world famous, they better be good. This is where we had dinner our first night in the area. Hubby loves BBQ so I thought it would be perfect for him. I liked how this place is decorated with postcards from past customers who loved the place. The ambience makes me feel like I'm at a place where everybody knows my name and you get welcomed with a big "howdy". Since we weren't super hungry, we decided to split a half rack of ribs and pulled chicken. The waitress or the cook messed up our order. They gave us a full rack instead, but I guess that was to our benefit and bellies. They also did not charge for this mistake, which was really nice of them. Also hubby and I were not able to finish it all so we took the leftovers with us. The ribs were pretty darn good! And like a good BBQ they have several kinds of BBQ sauce. Yum! Stopped here on the way home from camping trip at Clear Lake. Kids wanted pasta and the Italian restaurant we helped was closed. The owner sent us here and man, do we appreciate it. One kid ordered pasta and polished a half order off. The other kid ordered a cheeseburger and not a crumb was left. The husband and I shared a three meat plate with tri-tip, brisket and pulled pork. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. Tender, juicy and when topped with a mixture of the sweet and the spicy BBQ sauce, perfection. We got sweet potato fries and baked beans. I ate until I was full, then ate some more. I just couldn't help myself. And with four kids, the big communal tables, the ranch setting and the laid back atmosphere was great. The biggest disappointment was the dessert. Ice cream sandwiches were Nestle, ice cream was in a little plastic cup from the 70s, the world famous pumpkin cake and the warm apple crisp were both out of the freezer and not very interesting or good. read more

The staff was friendly and took our order immediately. Had the tri-tip sandwich with onion rings. Unfortunately I had to get it to go so I didnt get to eat it right away. Good smoke. The spicy BBQ sauce was sweet and brought some nice heat. It tasted like the regular one with some hot sauce added. Regardless, it was good. I wouldn't mind checking this place out again. Stopped off at this place on the way to Manchester State Park. Postcards and photos of famous people adorn the walls. I got the tri tip sandwich and my friend got the BBQ pasta. My sandwich was average - the various dipping sauces added most of the flavor. The BBQ pasta was saucy and full of mushrooms. Tasty, but a combo that would take some getting used to. It's a cute stop off place and they have a large outdoor patio as well. Service was efficient (which is another way to say that it wasn't exceptionally warm and friendly as a place like this would suggest ... she was just there to get her job done). Friends had been telling me for a while that we should come here. We drive the 101 corridor from NorCal to the Bay Area often enough, that we should have already made the stop. On this trip back north we finally did... and it was definitely worth it! Thick, juicy, with a nice bun and fresh toppings. The fries were ranch style and huge. Dee-lish-ous with the on-the-side-ranch dressing. I couldn't decide from the many uber-yummy sounding menu items so I took the server to task by asking him to rapid-fire pick from my top choices: Italian Fungi burger versus Rock Shrimp sandwich (Italian Fungi); Italian Fungi versus Ribeye Sandwich (Ribeye); Ribeye versus TriTip Sandwich (Ribeye). So I ordered the ribeye, and it was soooo good. Huge, cooked to order, on top of a Dutch Crunch bun (and hanging off the sides) with fresh toppings. I immediately cut it in half knowing I would never be able to eat it all in one sitting; especially with my own massive pile of those freshly fried fries steaming on the plate. The meat was tender and juicy and and and... I know we'll be back. Especially after seeing those piles of BBQ plates making their way from the kitchen to the other diners. Oh, and hubby commented that seeing the bottles of BBQ sauce on the table always bodes well for good BBQ. We went by our usual turnoff in Cloverdale in order to find the Hamburger Ranch. The name sounds strange and intriguing at the same time. We were ready for a stretch after driving for a couple of hours and found the old red building very welcoming. A throw back to simpler days. The décor is diner style and the knotty pine walls are covered with post cards that customers have mailed back with their mostly rave reviews. DH kept with a simple order of a hamburger and fries. I could not pass up the opportunity for my favorite Boont Amber Ale on tap. My BLT was long on the bacon with the fresh tomato and iceberg lettuce being almost an afterthought. The sandwich came on sourdough, but rather thin slices so the whole sandwich somewhat fell apart. Happy with my choice of baked beans. Some of the best ever Very flavorful with lots of bacon. Definitely homemade and not from a can. Desserts, mostly pies, sounded tempting ... no room. If we are ever in the Cloverdale area again, we would make sure to stop here. read more

Used to eat here once a week from 2010 on, and it was fantastic and always crowded. Super burgers. Patty Melts, home made desserts and the BBQ brisket and BBQ Quesadillas were the highlight of the drive to the coast. Then something happened around 2017 on and the quality slipped and the crowds started thinning out. Tried it again twice again this year, and it has somehow even got worse. The pulled pork was yummy! And the sweet potato fries were bomb. The prices are excellent. As a couple, we got the half rack, one meat, and two sides for $24 and weren't able to eat everything. I really like the fact that they have pasta (hard to find at diner-type places; I guess it's never as popular as burgers are)---however, I've never tried their pasta yet, because a burger or their BBQ have swayed me instead. I was in Hopland looking for a Bluebird Cafe burger but they were closed. The next best bet was World Famous Hamburger in Cloverdale 15 miles away! It was more than worth the drive. I had the International Burger with extra Jalapenos with onion rings and a Racer 5 IPA. They had five local brewpub selections on tap which is always a plus for anyone interested in the local fare. Horrible customer service. Had lunch here today and watched the staff talk very rudely to an elderly couple and also overheard them talking bad about other customers in the restaurant. They were not friendly taking our order, and the food was not good. Old bread and the burger patty tasted like a frozen patty you'd get from Safeway. Waited a good 15 mins for a menu and another 15 to be asked if I'd like a drink. If the staff was friendly I would have excused the garbage food knowing that lots of restaurants had to make budget cuts due to covid but they clearly don't care about much here. I tried this place after a recommendation from a friend. I came here from the nearby campground to eat some burgers and I cannot complain. We had great service and great burgers but the desert and price did me in. I think the burgers are really delicious and fresh but don't think it was worth the price.
