These guys have been repairing my sewing machine and Kurby vacuum since the 80's and through different locations. I follow them where ever they go because they are good, quick and dependable to give you suggestions when its not clear. I work for an residential agency that uses this place for all vacuum repairs. The repairs are often laughable, but I don't really have a say if the agency continues to use them or not. However, two of the vacuums we had repaired crapped the bed, so I decided to bring an older vacuum I had from home to use at my job. Well that bag filled up, and as a supporter of local business I decided to try and buy replacement bags from this local business, despite my views of their repair work. I came in with info on the type of vacuum and model number I needed bags for. The staff was completely unhelpful. I was told "Hold on let me look it up." During which time this guy received a phone call from a customer complaining about a smell coming from her vacuum they just fixed. The man in the shop was dismissive and disrespectful towards her. After getting off the phone I assumed he would continue looking for the bags I inquired about, instead he said to one of his co-workers "You think this f----ng guy would realize that if I hadn't found the bags by now, we don't f----ng have them!" I said "Oh you know, that's a great point, So dumb of me to not realize that you haven't found them yet. So true. I am so sorry I'm so stupid" and started walking out. The employee the original guy was speaking to tried to apologize.... I was able to find out within 5 mins of leaving that store, that they actually DID have the bags I was looking for, and I had them in my hand, and one of the guys there said "that probably won't fit." Some true vacuum experts here. I would love to get my agency to stop using them as they're evidently completely incapable of providing any kind of customer service. Aside from their place being a complete dump. Which the first few times I went felt like part of it's old school charm...but really I think it's indicative of their lack of passion for what they do. Miserable people doing horrible work. I hope they improve soon, or go out of business. I absolutely despise people who suck at their job. read more

I received this message from Janes this evening! May 22, 2918! Original complaint 2016! This response is ridiculous, 2 years late and initiated in response to pressure from the BBB or poor reviews. The Titan was in fact NOT a Titan, it was a knock off, so any promise of a warranty is false. The number on the machine, after calling, checking and researching was invalid. The machine was made in Mexico and was NOT a Titan. Period. Cut my losses and went to a reputable central vacuum dealer. Subject: Titan Central Vac problem. "Dear Susan We are very sorry to hear that you were so unpleased with your Titan Central Vac. We have sold and installed hundreds of them over the last 17 years with nothing but great reviews. I hope you realize that the Titan is THE ONLY CENTRAL VAC WITH A LIFE TIME WARRANTY ON THE MARKET. All you had to do was call the number on your machine and you would have gotten a free motor. The titan is far from an inferior machine, but again we're sorry you feel this way. Just give us a call and we'll even get the motor for you. Again are apologies for your problems." read more

The Titan installed in 2016 by these people, is now not working. The motor is dead. Inferior/knock off products installed by inferior/knock off service people. This will be reported to the BBB. read more

I've been here a lot and every time has been without issue. Sewing machine repair was on the money, carpet shampoo machine recommendation was a good one, and they know what vacuums hold-up and what ones don't because they repair all makes all the time. It's a nice experience to have someone who knows what they are taking about take the time to explain things. Big box stores may be brighter and fancier, but I'll take a shop like this any day. And they double the warranty on any machine you buy because they won't even sell machines that don't hold up. Many people talk about supporting the little guy, here's your chance. read more

Brought my Brother sewing machine in to be serviced and paid $65. Brought it home and it did not work. Brought it back in and told them and they said they would fix it. When I came back to pick it up they gave me another $65 bill. I asked why I should pay again when it obviously wasn't fixed the first time. The man in the back said he remembered me and that I was all set. The younger guy proceeded to argue with me, telling me that if he was the boss I would be paying because he didn't believe me. He proceeded to write down a number to a Singer repair shop, the area code was missing, and he told me a couple of the numbers may be off. Thanks, sir! read more

This place is a joke, and the only reason I gave it one star is because I couldn't give it zero. My wife dropped off a Hoover Hardwood & Tile Cleaner there for a general service, cleaning, and new brushes. There it sat...for months! We never heard back from them. When she finally got tired of waiting, she went there to pick it up. It was in the exact same spot that she left it in, and had never been even looked at, never mind fixed. He tried to say it wasn't worth fixing, even thought the damn machine was never broken! It just needed to be cleaned out and have new brushes. Do yourself the favor and find a place that'll actually make an attempt to try and fix your machine. Pathetic... read more

My wife dropped off an electrolux vacuum. The young guy told her it was probably just clogged (which it wasn't) and that it would be ready the following week. The first frustrating phone call ended with her being told she should have "called to remind" him on Tuesday and that the vacuum wasn't ready and hadn't yet been looked at. He'd have it looked at by the end of the day and it could be picked up on Friday. Friday she called to ask when to pick it up and was given a long story about how there was too much stress and how could she possibly expect it to be done. She said if he was too busy she'd pick it up and either replace it or take it elsewhere. The guy flew into a fit and said he didn't need customers like her and that she could pick it up whenever but the deposit was being kept. I went to the shop to pick up said vacuum and when I walked in the young guy was sitting there explaining to another customer that he didn't have time to work on his vacuum either. And then proceeded to tell the other customer about how my wife wasn't understanding of him. I'll spare you the confrontation that followed. Bottom line: If you don't have time to do the job you said you'd do, then don't say you will. And don't keep my money when you can't hold up your end of the transaction. Take your vacuum or other device elsewhere. There's a good vacuum shop near the DMV in Waterbury that actually follows through. read more

The older fellow working here knows his stuff- he diagnosed my Necchi sewing machine's problem in under 30 seconds. His estimates for both the cost and wait time were accurate, and it's running great now. He even reset the tension, which I'd really messed up trying to troubleshoot it. My machine is older and not electronic, and it seemed like most of the sewing machines in the repair section were the same. read more

I had my old vacuum serviced here 3 or 4 times over a number of years. Always thought it was a little expensive. I recently decided to buy another vacuum instead of having mine serviced again. It clogged from dog hair about once a year. So I asked these guys what they would suggest. It was one of their Carpet Pro models. I was a bit worried because of its low price but I was told it would do every thing my old vacuum did but better. It was an Oreck. My old one. Needless to say that wasn't the case. Within 2 weeks the belt broke. We got the response of they never had to replace one before this. Thought that was a little weird but we gave it another go. A month later it didn't work again. $60 later it was unclogged and ready to go again. Thought we had a warranty with them? They said 2 years. Then the belt broke again just recently. This was over 3 months. So I bring it back in and say I would like to return it. He says he will repair the belt for nothing but that they can't return it because it was all beat up. Which it wasn't. No credit offered no nothing. Just excuses like we received from the beginning. What a joke. Will never go here again. Don't make the same mistake we did! read more
