Say outside with friends-chatting and waitress came by 3 times in first 10 minutes to ask for food order-we weren't ready to which she replied "you should decide before the rush". We settled on choices quickly-flatbread was good. The sliders were super fatty (like, no meat, just fat!)... the cocktail was watery, and the clam chowder was like drinking cream. I came here on a Thursday night with a large group and there was plenty of room both indoors and out! We chose to sit on the patio and it had beautiful ambiance. There was even a farmers market next door that almost connected to the patio. The staff here were very willing to allow our large group to buy drinks at the bar and bring them to our table outdoors rather than collecting one large bill outside. We sat in view of the bar at a high top, but no one came over to our table for about 20-30 minutes. Our bartender/server was very kind and helpful, but not attentive enough, especially as it was not super busy. We finally put in our order and after another long wait for it to come out, my burger ($17) arrived well done despite being ordered medium. Once I was able to get the bartenders attention, she immediately offered to have the kitchen remake it. It took a long time to come out again, but was ultimately delicious. Aspects of this restaurant were nicer than expected, especially the bathrooms, and the food and drink offerings were quite good. Service overall was good but very slow. I think this neighborhood spot has promise, once it comes into its own. We've been in once at night for beers, and the beer list is pretty solid (Purple Monkey Dishwasher, anyone?). It seems pretty lively, and there's a ton of TVs so it's a good place to gather to watch whatever game you're interested in (not my thing, but to each her own). And the large open window is a big plus in the hot weather. Today we stopped by for their very first brunch service, and were overall pretty happy. My 'JFK' boozy coffee drink was excellent and highly recommended (the orange adds a lovely touch!), and my $9 omelette was a good size, filled with a good amount of cheddar and my chosen toppings (spinach and red pepper), and came with delicious red skinned breakfast potatoes that I could eat plates of (note though that the dish did not come with toast, which would have been nice to have since they source their breads from Clear Flour, but wasn't really a major con for me). My husband got the $18 frosted flake chicken tenders and waffles, and it was a good-sized portion that was very tasty and well-prepared. The service was very attentive, and it seems like the staff cares, always a nice thing. There are some tweaks that can be made to take these dishes from solid to great, though- the edges of my omelette which had no cheese on it was very bland and needed salt. The chicken and waffles also needed a bit more salt and would have benefited from a touch of heat to help balance the sweet-on-sweet (like, adding a bit of red pepper flake to the maple syrup, or using Mike's Hot Honey), and the batter kept falling off the chicken tenders. I think that since they're still so new, they're still trying to find their stride, so right now things are a bit mixed. But it'll be nice to see how they even out and begin to excel, as I think they could end up doing well, especially for this neighborhood. read more

Very inconsistent. Very mediocre. So much potential. So disappointing. The first night we had a great waitress Who was very helpful and accommodating. She came to see if we needed anything. She came to check on our satisfaction of the food. She was kind and nice and polite and lively. The second night was a nightmare. The waitress was all but invisible. Would go 20+ minutes between visiting the table. She dropped off my bill and I had to go to the bartender to see if I can pay it. It seems like it could be a good idea but it feels like this place is run by someone who has no idea how to run a restaurant or maybe they don't take criticism seriously. I get the weirdest vibe from this place. It feels like everyone working is super focused on a specific task but not really concerned with customer service. We come here frequently with our three young children and sit in the back patio area, where the kids have plenty of space to stretch out and roam around a bit if they want to. Came here for a quick beer with my roommate and we were sat at a table in the back. All of a sudden my friend said "Oh my god, there's a mouse running around". I turned around to see a mouse scurrying around the floor. It was running in and out from under the benches on the back wall and weaving in and out of the kitchen. Our waitress was lovely. The person who served our food, so professional and friendly. But here's the bad news: They messed up a burger. Twice. First time. Raw. Seriously. I eat my burgers med rare so I like it red but raw? Nope. Took over 10 min for a waiter to come back to table to check in. Then it took another 15 min for them to actually cook it. By the time I got my *well done* burger, my friends were done with their meals. Although the customer service was good, they really should have observed how they messed up my meal and my first dining experience; and comped my burger or offered me a drink on the house. They didn't. I won't be back until they figure out how to cook a burger. And it wasn't cheap. $16 for a burger. (Not expensive but when coupled with it being cooked at the wrong temp, twice? A fun spot in a convenient location. I've been here somewhere around 5 times now and it's been solid each time. The menu (both food and drinks) has good options and I've always enjoyed what I ordered. My main feedback, as some have also mentioned, is that the service tends to be slow. There was also one weird time when we tried to check in at the entrance, but no one was there, so we went to the patio out back and they said to go to the entrance, but when we went to the entrance they just said to go to the back again! With the layout of the restaurant, this is about a minute walk, not just popping in and out of a door. I suspect staffing issues may be related, but I feel like there must be a better system -- just committing to one place and perhaps adding a sign in the other? Still, it is not enough to be a deal-breaker for some good food and drinks. read more

Hosted a birthday party last night for my little brother and it was awesome. We reserved one of their two "private" spaces and the guest list was about 20 people. Reasons for 5 stars: 1. The owner, Greg, allowed us to have customized menus! 2. He also allowed us to rename some of their signature drinks. The theme was JAY-Z so we chose names like 4:44 and HOV etc. 3. They gave us full control of our own music. Inside a restaurant! Who else does that??? It was AMAZING! 4. Our server, Jessica was very nice and efficient. 5. The whole ambience and vibe was dope AF. 6. Overall experience was 10/10 not just for me but for everyone in our party. looking for an impromptu dine-in for the 4th, we were extremely delighted to be offered a seat through the phone. Melissa, our waitress was so sweet and accommodated to our questions and requests, but we rarely saw her at all. And after several attempts of waving down any workers in the restaurant (they were either absent or conversing with each other although the restaurant was half full,) I finally had to find a worker myself just to acquire takeout containers and the bill. Loved this bar! I was visiting the area for work when I saw this bar across the street from my hotel. I wandered in and found a set at a long wooden table. Joe, the bartender, was terrific. He said that the table was made from reclaimed wood from the USS Constitution. The table really added to the ambiance and the windows were open and it was a beautiful summer day. Joe was super friendly and gave me great suggestions for lunch. Loved the fish and chips. The food was so good that I came back again for dinner. Short ribs and delicious mac and cheese. Joe greeted me again at dinner and it felt like a bar you would grow to love if you lived near by. Can't recommend it enough!! read more

I have to say that this place has pulled a 180 from my first experiences over the last few years. I used to think the food was average. Fast forward to now and my family of 4 with two kids 6 and under has come three weeks in a row for an early dinner with another family who also has little kids. They put us in a big comfy booth and give us the best service we've probably ever had as a little kid group. We are not easy. Lots of noise and picky little eaters and running around etc. Alex and Brooke are incredible servers. The food is WAY better than it used to be...tempura cauliflower, burgers, impossible burgers, flatbreads and especially the specials have all been stellar lately. I had a massive bone-in pork chop with mashed potatoes and a mushroom gravy for $15. Probably the best casual restaurant meal I've had in a year and for that price is astounding. Seriously, look at the specials menu when you go. Anyways, we'll be regulars so long as they continue to welcome our crazy crew so warmly! Hamilton is a laid back casual bar/restaurant. I've been here twice! The first time in the winter when it was cozy and the TV's were the backdrop playing hockey! Then more recently this summer. The windows were open and the Red Sox were playing. My Martini was very good and my husband liked his beer. I had crispy chicken tenders and tempura onion rings! Both large portions! I had the same thing both times as it was good! Opt to get the sauce forthe chicken tenders in the side! Chicken can get soggy if soaked in sauce! My husband had delicious steak tips! Both times I've been there they've been under staffed. Food took a long time to arrive! Hamilton is a good place for a casual affordable dinner but they aren't consistent with service or food prep. Tonight we ordered a chicken sandwich with no avocado and salt and vinegar chips, a cheese quesadilla and a side of coleslaw. On my way I received a call confirming it was just a cheese quesadilla and I said yes just cheese. Arrived at home to find a chicken sandwich with avocado spread all over sandwich and French fries but no chips. The cheese quesadilla was limited on cheese but filled with chicken. Lastly, if you are going to charge $6.49 for a side of coleslaw maybe you might think about actually a portion that would equate to a side and not what I was given. Just do your job ! read more

Nice place, Irish pub mixed with local tavern. Food was good, had the steak tips with rice pilaf and Brussels sprouts. Meat was cooked perfect, very tender and yummy. Met a friend for late lunch. Not many customers. Took our order promptly and waiter was friendly. But took long time to get only two salads ordered and despite not ordering any dressing my salad was drenched in some olive oil or vinaigrette dressing. I hadn't eaten all day and was starving so I ate about three quarters of it but didn't feel good about it. The food was good, though the breakfast poutine was actually "curry chips" and should not be advertised as poutine. It was a proper curry dish, and as someone who would avoid ordering curry, but will consistently have poutine when it's on the menu, this was a bit disappointing. Our group of 4 adults and 4 kids enjoyed a late lunch here. Katherine was very efficient and friendly. She made great drinks for us and gave recommendations about the choices on the menu. We liked everything we ordered, including beef stew with mashed potatoes, fish and chips, steak sandwich, marinated devil eggs, beets and goat cheese salad, clams chowder, and flat bread. A place with potential and a long way to go. Perhaps my timing was bad - They've only been open a few months and I went for a 4:15 Patriots game with friends. The timing is strange, in that it's after Brunch hours and still early for dinner, and they have a good amount of TV monitors around. This would normally be a no-brainer, have fans watch and eat and drink here! But the management and the staff were ill-prepared for a full house at that hour - Hamilton's first afternoon football game since they opened. One manager. One waiter. One bartender. I'd imagine only one chef in the kitchen, as well. They were buried, swamped, unable to provide any reasonable type of service. We arrived early, just before 4pm. Note: they only have "after hours" menu running before 5pm. 30 minutes later, our order was taken. 15 minutes later, drinks arrived. Food arrived just before halftime. Shortly after that, another friend came in and joined us for the second half. Her food order was placed at the end of the 3rd quarter and NEVER arrived. Meanwhile, our drinks were empty (and had intended to order more), no water for over an hour, and a hungry customer patiently waiting. We asked the manager at one point how much longer for food - his reply, "you ordered food?" As the game ended, people left. Still no food. Still no drinks. Still no water. Our waiter (Jaime) walked by and we (very politely) asked for our check as we were now ready to leave empty-handed. "But we just put your food order in! Like 15 minutes ago?" Uh..... no sir. No, it more like 40+ minutes. 15 minutes later, with bated breath, our waiter approaches... with a check. "your food's not on there," he says gruffly, drops it on the table and walks away. OK, so the food - completely hit or miss. Honestly, the burger was solid. The fries, when fried properly, were tasty. BUT... we sent back our fries twice because they were grossly undercooked (completely soggy with fried grease). Drinks were definitely good. And the buffalo wings... I've had better, but totally fine otherwise. In the end, it was service that, at the very start of the game, I was willing to overlook due to an underestimated crowd. But 3 hours later, nothing had changed. One person joined them in that time, and it was clear 1 more helper wasn't going to be enough. Perhaps our own waiter was more frustrated than we were? But that didn't warrant his attitude or handling of the situation. I'll be back, some day. Just not anytime soon. The location and setup is too good to pass up completely. read more

I don't review very often but wanted to write one because of my pretty lousy experience here. I've eaten at Hamilton twice. The first time was nothing special, food was fine, service was good, nice beer list, and seemed like a nice place to watch a game on Sunday. So far so good. The second time was a lot worse. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad, it took a very long time to come out, and the chicken was raw in the center. I sent it back, politely, and to their credit no fewer than 3 separate people came to apologize to me for the problem. They said, "what can we do to make this right?" At this point I was very hungry, the two other guys I was eating with were already half done with dinner. So I just asked for whatever would come out quickly-Chicken fingers is what they suggested. The chicken fingers were so-so, a bit dry and not very flavorful breading. But what really annoyed me was that I was charged for the chicken fingers, despite the fact that I didn't really want them in the first place and only ordered them because I was served raw chicken first. Again I hate to write this because the folks running this place seem like nice people, it was busy when I came in, and I'm sure they're still working out the kinks after opening recently. But I really wouldn't recommend anyone go here if there were any alternative. read more

*Automatically charged gratuity without telling me* This was my first time here. Decent food, okay service considering when we went they said they were understaffed. I am disappointed because they automatically charged me for 20% gratuity without telling me, it was on the receipt so i guess it's my fault for not reading it close enough. Because I didn't know they would automatically include 20% gratuity in the amount they charged me, i tipped an additional 20% on top of the amount they charged me (which already included 20% tip). I don't mind generously tipping but it left a bad taste in my mouth that they did not disclose at any point during the meal or after when they charged me that 20% gratuity would already be included on my bill. read more
