Haven't been here in a long time. Since we lost El Chico in town, we had a white dipping sauce fix, which was met. Hamlin's is well known for the chips and white dipping sauce. What it's called... I'm not sure what the ingredients are, but at this point .. it's a tasting food mystery. The table service was friendly and greeted us promptly. I'm not quite sure where to start so perhaps at the beginning. The menu touted famous dip with their chips. When the chips came, the red looked more like cocktail sauce and tasted oddly like ketchup and siracha. The white seriously tasted like Ranch dressing. The only reason I kept trying it was to figure out the ingredients. I asked what was in the chile rellano and got an odd look. She replied nothing. It's a breaded jalapeño fried with cheese. I was going to say poblano? But didn't. So I ordered the plate and sure enough, it was a huge jalapeño that I couldn't even cut through with my fork. Granted the menu does say they pride themselves on being unique. I believe this qualifies. Chips were adequate as was the tea. The rest was no bueno. read more

When we drove up at noon on Saturday, my wife noticed "no cars." White sauce and chips and cheese enchiladas were as good as I remembered. Their hamburger meat for beef anything must've been old, it tasted weird. I don't get sick, but after not being there for 32 years, it was disappointing. They used to have two restaurants, now down to one. I was at my reunion for a local high school, and when I said I was going to Hamlin's and asked if anyone wanted to meet us there, I had no takers. After I went, I shared my experience and then they told me why...it is gross. Service was excellent, gave great tip. Hamlin's, I think the sun is setting on your establishment unless you fix your beef. I had given you all 5's when I first got there and tasted you long awaited white sauce, but afterwards, when considering, I balked that with a "1". read more

I have been dining at Hamlins since I was 8 years old. So it's been 50 years of great food. When I visit Muskogee to see my family, Hamlins brings back all those fond memories dining with my family. Mom and Dad are no longer with us, but it's a family tradition now. So happy this place is still here and better than ever. Great service and I love the food. read more

Locally owned. Clean dining room and kitchen. Dirty restrooms. Service isn't consistently great, but the staff is always friendly. Their white dip used to be award-worthy, but something changed? Now it's warm when brought to your table? Weirdly though, they have the best cheeseburgers I've ever had in my life! Don't recommend the enchiladas, tamales, or their chili in general, but my goodness their guacamole is outstanding!! Pretty good fajitas and an amazing chicken taco salad and chicken tacos, but this place is no longer worth the prices they keep raising. They've tried new menu options... so there's that lol, and they have daily lunch and dinner specials which draw in crowds, but hopefully they change a few recipes and go back to keeping the dip cold before serving it. Not my first choice for Tex Mex, but not my last either. read more

This is probably the first time in my life that I've been disappointed by Mexican food! My chicken enchiladas were tough and just pretty lousy - they don't even offer sour cream sauce! Chips are served with salsa and some unknown mystery white sauce, and no it wasn't white cheese sauce - it was just weird. I'd recommend trying someplace else. read more

They brag about Okie-Mexican and it's just that! Yum as I left the place and it left me very anxious to get back there. The family members (live in the area) chose the place to eat on this evening and I was thoroughly impressed! The appetizer of chips and salsa came out with a white dip. Something Mayo based and people love it... The chips were hot and fresh and the service was top notch. I ordered some hotter salsa and it arrived... after trying it I was very satisfied with the flames coming out of my mouth. I wasn't too awful hungry when we sat down...so I ordered a chicken enchilada that was covered in the cheese sauce. It was awesome! No leftovers on this visit. They need to take the words Mexican restaurant off the sign. Stopped here on our way threw town...waited forever for service but that was nothing compared to the terrible excuse for salsa that was literally only tomato sauce and the cold "famous white dip" We ate our chips with salt on them... ordered the "special" (el toro- cheesy chicken & rice with flour tortillas) asked for hot sauce...or some salsa or some pico, and was told the "red sauce" was all they had, it literally tasted like ketchup. She said she "may be able to find some Tabasco in the back maybe". It was all we could do to mess up our plate so it looked like we ate and leave. Had an early dinner with a friend here & it was great! The chips were perfectly warm, the salsa was not too spicy & that white dip....so good. I'm still not sure what the white dip was, but it was definitely worth the trip there. I wasn't too hungry when we ordered, so I got two enchiladas, one chicken with queso sauce and one cheese with chili sauce. It was all so great. If the fam decides to drive through that area again, we will definitely stop. Oh and did I mention the service? No? Well, they all were pretty great. The 1st time I ate at Hamlin's Pig Stand it was in the early 1960's. I remember Mrs. Hamlin and the restaurant was in a railroad car across the street and East of the present location. It was great then and high standards or Mama Hamlin would fix it. We now live in Colorado, the last 30 years. However, we enjoy Hamlin's El Toro every time we visit or when someone comes to visit us. As one of the oldest restaurants in town we're glad it is still there. You really don't realize what you have until you can't get it any longer. Food is ok. This place is a staple in Muskogee. I might re review after COVID but for now, if you want to feel safe I wouldn't come here. Servers don't wear mask properly, no social distancing with the table, and no mask requirement for patrons. They are doing take out. read more

My mother's side of the family is from Muskogee and Hamlin's has been a beloved tradition for us ever since I was a little girl going to their old location. The food definitely leaves something to be desired, I won't lie. The best thing I have found is to order a taco salad and use the white sauce as a dressing. So good. Speaking of white sauce, this stuff is seriously addictive. It is NOT queso or cheese sauce, nor was it meant to be people! It is a unique dip all it's own and I crave it on the regular. You won't find anything like it anywhere else. Since I'm not the biggest fan of their food, we tend to get chips and dips in large portions to go and most of my family now does the same. Overall, the food here is just totally mediocre at best. It cost me $23.35 for a beef fajita and an ice tea during lunch hour. The beef fajita meat was hard to chew and had gristle in it. Very bland food no spices whatsoever. Staff was friendly. It's not no Los Cabos but has Los Cabo's prices . read more

The only good thing about this place is the service. If a Mexican restaurant cannot get salsa and white case so right, they have no business being open. The salsa here is like tomato purée gone bad and the white sauce is not cheese dip... It's ranch dressing with some chunks of God knows what in it. It tastes almost like tartar sauce. The food tastes like something you buy from the dollar tree and heat up in the microwave. After eating here, everyone in my party said their stomachs hurt for hours. I came here today passing through. I didn't read the reviews first but so glad I didn't!! This was the BEST Mexican food I've ever had the side of the boarder. It was so so good. I am vegetarian/vegan and the grilled veggies, enchiladas were so good. I will definitely come back. Only thing. Be prepared to wait. I've gave this a bad review before. I figure I'd give it another go a few years down the road. I decided to go there today. Still bad! Advice...Do not come here. It's a cash grab. The food is HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs! The waitress had ear phones in! She never checked on us! They still put salad on hot plates! They still have plastic containers for their salsa and white sauce! The enchiladas are Taquitas! How is this place still open? I can go to any Mexican restaurant in Muskogee and pay $35 dollars. I paid twenty dollars more to eat here for the same amount. These folks charge seven dollars for a tiny bowel of cheese! Good lord! Get your life together! They use to be good when they were on York back in the 90'/80's. Is this one of those situations. When a couple that worked hard their whole lives to build a decent business gives it to their kid only to have their spoiled butts run it into the ground? The only folks that are giving this place a good review are the ones the owner probably petitioned them to do so. First of all, if you're not from muskogee and weren't raised on hamlins, chances are you not going to like it. It's not the "Mexican" food your used too. Secondly, the white sauce isn't ranch people! Most anyone from around here has the recipe or at least knows someone that has the recipe and we laugh at the people who call it ranch just because it's white. Hamlins is usually packed. It's packed for a reason. We locals love it. I've lived in tulsa for 25 years now. I have two reasons to ever return to muskogee. Hamlins and Chets. Love em. read more
