Haven't been here in a long time. Since we lost El Chico in town, we had a white dipping sauce fix, which was met. Hamlin's is well known for the chips and white dipping sauce. What it's called... I'm not sure what the ingredients are, but at this point .. it's a tasting food mystery. The table service was friendly and greeted us promptly. We had to beat the church rush before noon on a Sunday.. I guess this is where families meet ;-)

I'm not quite sure where to start so perhaps at the beginning. The menu touted famous dip with their chips. When the chips came, the red looked more like cocktail sauce and tasted oddly like ketchup and siracha. The white seriously tasted like Ranch dressing. The only reason I kept trying it was to figure out the ingredients. I asked what was in the chile rellano and got an odd look. She replied nothing. It's a breaded jalapeño fried with cheese. I was going to say poblano? But didn't. So I ordered the plate and sure enough, it was a huge jalapeño that I couldn't even cut through with my fork. Granted the menu does say they pride themselves on being unique. I believe this qualifies. Chips were adequate as was the tea. The rest was no bueno.

Had an early dinner with a friend here & it was great! The chips were perfectly warm, the salsa was not too spicy & that white dip....so good. I'm still not sure what the white dip was, but it was definitely worth the trip there. I wasn't too hungry when we ordered, so I got two enchiladas, one chicken with queso sauce and one cheese with chili sauce. It was all so great. If the fam decides to drive through that area again, we will definitely stop. Oh and did I mention the service? No? Well, they all were pretty great. Our server kept our drinks refilled, chip bowl full, and always had a smile on her face.

Not a fan of Tex Mex, but the white dip is worth the trip! A little off the beaten path.

Terrible greasy food! Salsa is terrible. Veggies in my fajita were not clocked. Enchiladas were in a pool of grease.

But they've really stepped up their game with the restaurant side of the operation. The food is truly outstanding. The burgers rival any burger in Muskogee. The fried mushrooms are hand breaded and not just fried from frozen, and they are worth getting every single visit. The ranch is top notch. They offer a really delicious Saturday brunch menu, but I wish they would do Sunday brunch. They decorate big for Christmas every year, which is really fun. And they have a seasonal photo area that always has a cute backdrop. The only real struggle with Max's is consistent service. It seems like they are always short-handed and very slow. They take reservations for big groups, but don't actually use them, so you still have to wait, which defeats the purpose of reservations. But I'll continue to go for those fried mushrooms!

Potato skins are tolerable, and the ranch is made in house. Otherwise, this place is terrible and consistently the worst dining experience I have ever had in Muskogee. It takes at least 60-90 minutes to get your meal, which is usually wrong, and good luck getting drinks or appetizers. They are always woefully understaffed, and typically the staff seems like they hate being here as much as we do (tonight was an exception, staff was friendly). Included a photo of the updated fries in case you think they're the nice looking ones from years ago: nope, they're great value "McD's" knockoff fries. Thankfully this last experience convinced our group of friends to never return. Don't make the same mistake as us. If it was a single night of this, I'd give it a pass or wait and see. Well, I waited, and I saw, after 5-6 visits in here is just no salvaging the eating experience here.

Onion rings had not been invented back then. You don't need carbon dating to judge the age of the building. The design, the weathered wood trim and the faded discolored paint date the building somewhere between pre-Sonic era, possibly even pre-Dairy Queen. It had to be the hang out in Wagoner, in its day. It appears to be a family owned and operated business. My wife and I have grabbed burgers here several times over the past ten years. Nothings has changed. The flame still flares up on the grill when the cook flips the burger, confirming the char flavor will be present as advertised. It is a one-man kitchen, so your order may take a few minutes if they are busy. Good charburgers and onion rings. Today my wife had a half order of 3-way. The chili is very mild, lots of cheese and fresh chopped onions decorated the big bowl of food. Skip Sonic and McDonald's. Have a home town Son's Charburger instead.
