This is not Mexican food...I'm not even sure it is food. The "salsa" was like a spicy ketchup, the "white sauce" was veggie dip with mayo, and the enchilada was a burnt cheese-bomb. I'd like to start by saying that even if you were raised on hamlin's and you think it's still sub par you're not wrong. I'd rather walk to the nearest grocery store, buy a Mexican TV dinner, let a cat defecate on it prior to heating it in a microwave, and I would give it a better review than Hamlins will ever deserve. My husband and I lived in Muskogee for 3 years and moved to Owasso a year and a half ago. I have really missed Hamlin's since moving. I have a friend who brings me chips and dip every time he comes to visit. I finally got to go back to Hamlin's last night thanks to my sweet husband. We were in town for the Garden of Lights and stopped here first. Unfortunately we did not receive great service. We waited at least 5 minutes before our waitress took our drink order and then a few more minutes after receiving our drinks for the chips and dip. Our food took quite awhile also. They used to be really fast. The food is exactly the same which is decent but not the best and a little over priced. I'm convinced they only stay in business because of the chips and dip. The dip is just amazing. I'm so addicted to it and you can't get it anywhere else. read more

Really bad. First warning, half the menu was burgers and other American style food. Asked about the beer menu and they had to go get someone to tell us what beers they had. Ok no biggie . Then the chips are brought out with a watered down ranch sauce and a salsa that tastes like ketchup . No exaggeration here it was ranch and ketchup . If George Washington had Hamlin's white Cheese Sauce; we would have defeated not only the British, but also the French and at least two other small European countries. While I love the sauce I don't really feel the rest of their menu is authentic Mexican. That is not saying it isn't good. I truly like it. If your in Muskogee and want some truly great Authentic Mexican food, this might not be the place. But if you love really good food, this place is worth checking out. Why is this place so popular? It tastes like they use TV dinners for their entrees. It's overpriced, even for their lunch menu. The pop doesn't taste very well carbonated, and the "famous white sauce" tastes like ranch and some sort of sauce mixed together. There are plenty authentic Mexican places in Muskogee. Why anyone would spend their money here is beyond me. This was my first and last time. Only good thing was the service. I realize they try to be "tex-mex" but this wasn't even that. Wow! This place has the worst food I've ever had in my entire life! It was so bad it was hilarious! We laughed all the way home! The people who have left positive reviews have no taste buds or are extremely sheltered! Greasy, burnt to a crisp microwave food! My husband was in the army for 12 years and said MRE's were better. The "salsa" is weird spicy catsup with a bad aftertaste and the "white sauce" is ranch dressing with relish. Our waitress was sweet, but even she couldn't save an overpriced terrible meal. I'm from Texas and accustomed to good Mexican Food, so perhaps my expectations were too high from the start, but this place was TERRIBLE! This "tex-mex" can be bought in the frozen food section at your local Walmart or grocery store, it pretty much taste the same. The white dip is the only thing they have going for them! I recommend asking for their green Chile salsa bc its actually salsa unlike their original oniony ketchup salsa they serve right away. I travel back and forth between Tulsa and Muskogee everyday for work and I'm always looking for a good lunch place. Once a week, I try to find a new place to eat lunch at in Muskogee or Tahlequah. I went to Hamlin's seeing as I pass by it several times a week and thought I'd give it a try. I don't know if I came in on an off day or what, but this was a rough meal. I ordered the lunch cheese enchiladas with papas con chili. Enchiladas were so greasy, I didn't even chew and the standing greasy in the Wolf brand chili was really off putting. The papas con chili (mashed potatoes with over baked cheese on top) were ok. I could've gone down the road to Charlie's chicken and gotten better quality potatoes. The only saving graces were the white sauce that came with the chips and the wait staff that were always vigilant to the needs of the customer. Kelsey did an amazing job! Also, be prepared to pay a little bit. Although my lunch was about the right price even after a drink, the dinners and the like were all $10 and above. It also seemed like there were just as many, if not more, American dishes being offered in an advertised TexMex restaurant. Even the burgers that were on the menu were more than $10! Overall, I probably would not revisit Hamlin's but I know people that would probably like it. If you're looking for a quick lunch that's decently priced, go ahead! Being from Texas, an area where there is Mexican food on every corner, I think I had reasonably low expecations from some place in Oklahoma. However, I have to say that I would call Taco Bell good "Mexican food" before this place. How do you screw up a freaking quesadillla...I mean seriously. You take a tortilla and slop some cheese and chicken in it and stick it in a pan. No microwave needed. This thing tasted like government cheese, convenience store tortillas stuck in a microwave on high for 5 minutes until it is so hot you can't even stand to touch it. Absolutely the worst Mexican food I have every had. The salsa taste like ketchup with some chili spice. Their famous "white sauce" taste like ranch dressing that has been tampered with. The food is bland. My friend that I was dining with told me the food tasted like a patio frozen dinner. The sign on the front states that this is Muscogee's favorite Mexican food restaurant. BEWARE! You will get better Mexican food at Taco Bell. The restaurant needs to be updated as well. The booth we sat in had torn seats. Terrible greasy food! Salsa is terrible. Veggies in my fajita were not clocked. Enchiladas were in a pool of grease.

Salsa was so awful it was inedible while the white sauce is something with ranch dressing in it. Nachos with meat and beans were tortillas with just that, dabs of meat and beans with cheese melted on it. No lettuce or tomatoes or anything. Waitress was very nice. It was busy and full of people so we assumed the food was good. The food: Shrapnel and ketchup: or as they falsely advertise chips and salsa. Hamlin's is not authentic Mexican food. If that's what your looking for, keep driving, as there are a couple decent choices on down Hwy 69. Hamlin's is pretty darn good for what it is though, and that is Americanized TexMex with their own twist. The blue cheese based white sauce is unique, and quite tasty. They have a good selection of steaks, shrimp, and burgers if you those in our party that are looking for more standard American fare. The Mexican selections are pretty good, if somewhat generic. You won't see any menu surprises here. Service can be hit and miss, but was top notch on my last trip, so kudos for that. read more

The food is good but not authentic Mexican. The prices are high for the quality of food but the restaurant is a Muskogee staple. However the last time I placed a carry out order it was for bean and meat nachos. Once I arrived home I found out that they did not put cheese on them. I called and the manager said the person who took the order claimed I stated I did not want cheese. I am not sure who would order nachos and not want cheese. I may have rated this place higher if we'd actually gotten to try the food, but sadly we were denied. My friend and I are both over the age of 25 and are in Muskogee from Canada as part of our clinical placements for the summer. We tried to go to El Toro for margaritas and chips after a long week at the hospital but our ID was declined, despite having two piece of photo ID with our birthdates on them. The server disappeared with two pieces of each of our IDs for a few minutes before coming back to tell us her manager would not process the order, at which point we decided to leave as what's the point of eating chips with no drink. I ordered on-line and then travelled to restaurant to pick it up. $40 order was missing about $7 worth of items - including the white sauce that is the real reason I buy their subpar Mexican meals. I called restaurant immediately to report the missing items and asked if the employee could just credit my card for the items I didn't get. She said she could not because order was placed on-line. She suggested I drive back and she could give me cash or I could talk to someone else --but not tonight - tomorrow about the credit. We got two dinner orders of chimichangas, 4 inches each that came with beans, rice, a banana pepper and what they called a salad, (lettuce and a half teaspoon of diced tomatoes, no dressing) and two waters for $22. I can get a lunch chimichanga, twice the size with beans, rice, guac, sour cream, picodegala and lettuce for less than HALF the price at other restaurants that are far better in taste, and the white cheese sauce isn't water either. My first time here. I ordered the CHILE relleno lunch special and one of us ordered the enchilada lunch. The "relleno" came out looking like a burnt roller grill item from a crappy gas station- thick breading and about as big around as a peeled banana or a little smaller, covered in old chili. Served with a side of instant mashed potatoes that had started to turn. Turns out it wasn't just my food. Nobody(party of 4) had good food. I sent the facsimile of a "relleno" back, and they charge me for CHIPS AND SALSA! At a MEXICAN Restaurant! I spoke to the manager and explained I didn't eat a meal because their food was unsatisfactory and shouldn't be charged for a complimentary item. She told me they are only complimentary if you order an entree. I asked her if that was written anywhere..you know... Like the menu-----she said it's an "unwritten" rule the owners have and said "well you ate chips, didn't you?" on top of it all, they had no health rating posted ANYWHERE, and the salsa tasted immensely strange.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I had heard all the rave about this place and seen how huge it is from the outside! An event center, nice building and good parking! The service was decent, I had to eat the ice in my cup for our waitress to realize I needed a refill. Now, the food. Where to start? Well, the "salsa" is just ketchup and nothing more, how gross. Some white sauce i wouldn't even touch. I ordered the queen chicken fried steak and what a let down. It was a processed deep fried joke that tastes like old spoiled oil. The fries were distrusting, i wouldn't even touch then while they sat in their glimmering pools of oil. I asked for hot sauce to try and eat the dog food they called food. Sickening place. The service was good, the food was terrible. The chili relleno was tough and had way too much breading. The enchilada tasted like a t v dinner. The whole thing was swimming in grease. As for the white sauce, I am not impressed. It tasted like mayo and ranch mixed. Paying $30 to be up all night throwing up is not my idea of a good night out. Will never eat here again.
