I think I found my new HVAC company in the South Bay. Bill responded to my phone call one day as the heater in my home was not working after the old Thermostat failed. We replaced it with a Google Nest thermostat but the problem persisted. Bill came by, inspected it, and let us know the motherboard had failed. There was no upselling and he quoted a fair price but also mentioned that due to the age of the unit, it might be a little tough to come by the parts. Sure enough, he was able to locate the part, and I gave approval to proceed. One week later he texted me to let me know the part was in his possession and if I was free that same day. He and his team came by, ran tests, even noticed that the Google thermostat was wired incorrectly, set it back properly, and then left after the system was indeed running correctly and heat was being generated. His company does accept Zelle payments and he and his team were friendly and I appreciated that they wore booties around their shoes and kept the work area clean while working and as they were leaving. If I have any further concerns in the future, Hammer HVAC is my go-to. read more

Bill Hammer is a superb business owner. His company installed the HVAC units in the new construction townhomes within our neighborhood a couple years ago. We had an issue with our furnace where the burner box became faulty and prevented the heater from functioning properly. Bill was proactive about diagnosing the issue when I first contacted him. He took the initiative to contact the manufacturer and shortly obtained a new burner box (which was fortunately covered under warranty). Within a week, Bill returned and installed the new part and our furnace was back up and running. Really appreciate his customer service and how courteous and considerate he is. We installed a new heating furnace in our attic to replace an old one that stopped working. We had three contractors come out to give us quotes and Bill by far was the best option. He established a time to come to the installation and arrived promptly with a team of people ready to work. The installation for that heating took approximately six hours and when the team is finished they cleaned up everything and left the house cleaner than it was when they arrived. They set up protective paper and mats on the floor and made sure to not damage anything during the installation. There was a problem with my nest thermostat (not his fault) and Bill came back a few days later to make a slight adjustment and all is working properly. We are looking forward to having him come out later this year to do an estimate for air-conditioning installation. The bottom line: Bill Hammer gives you options, answers questions, says what he will do, and then does it. No surprises, no arguments, straight up excellent service and delivery with excellent communication. A completely refreshing experience. We arrived home after a winter vacation to find an ice cold house and that our 35+ year old furnace was DOA. After some minor attempts to resuscitate, we called Hammer Heating and Air Conditioning, leaving a message with our predicament. Bill Hammer, the owner, called back that afternoon and again at what was clearly the end of his work day and agreed to swing by the next day to see what could be done. The next morning he gave us a call and asked if he could drop by in about an hour...which he did. He quickly assessed the situation and gave us two options: repair or replace. He was up front about the risks of either approach as well as the costs. He made recommendations regarding limited improvements possible with the existing ducting and thermostat location. Later that night he emailed a proposal. The next day (a weekend) we reviewed the proposal and did our own research. Bill answered our email questions thoroughly and promptly over the weekend and left us feeling well informed and prepared to make the final decision. We chose to replace the old furnace and qualified our purchase model based on our own research and Bill's competent advice. The following Monday, Bill and his crew arrived at the agreed time and removed the old furnace and thoroughly cleaned the area of old insulation and debris in preparation for installation of the new furnace the next day. The next day, Bill and his crew again arrived on time and installed the new furnace. Part of our agreed plan was to relocate the thermostat to address prior inefficiencies in heat distribution as well as support future installation of AC. Bill and his crew were professional, clean, polite, and did an excellent job in the installation of new insulation and exhaust ducting. They left the installation location cleaner than it was prior to the installation. We are now enjoying our new furnace during these chill days of winter. We had an older furnace, and some of our rooms weren't getting sufficient heating. In addition, we wanted to get AC installed into the house. So we engaged 4 contractors and Bill came out on top. When it came time to replace my aging AC system installed by a larger, non-local firm 19 years ago, I decided I wanted to go local. I gave 3 different vendors a shot, and Bill was far away the most knowledgable and professional of the bunch. His estimate covered every aspect of the install, and wasn't vague or misleading like some others. Not only that but he temporarily fixed my old AC AT NO COST so it could work during the heat wave until he had time to install my new system. The heater of my rental property stopped working. Based on the good reviews I saw on Yelp, I asked Hammer Plumbing to repair the heater and did not negotiate the price with Hammer Plumbing. After the job is done, I checked on the price of the part that was replaced. It turned out that Hammer Plumbing overcharged me 3X+ times. I'll repeat what others have said about Bill: Bill is honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable and reliable. I found Bill here on Yelp. My forced air furnace went into a mode where it was continuously pumping out unheated air. The blower would not shut off no mater what I did, and no hot air would come out of the registers. Bill responded to my telephone call quickly. Luckily, he had an opening in his schedule on the next day. Bill arrived the next day as planned and completed the service call for a very reasonable price. By the time he left, the heater was working the way it normally worked. As an aside... I explained to Bill that my forced air furnace has never worked extremely well. Bill walked throughout my place checking duct work, register location, heat output - he gave me a number of suggestions including: - better registers (I could install or he could do it - my choice), - managing the thermostat in a slightly different way that would make it easier for the furnace to bring room temp up. He said - your furnace is not what I'd have recommended for a new installation (it's slightly under powered), but it's in now and it seems to be operating correctly. Why don't you see if you can optimize it's performance using my suggestions. If you're not happy afterwards, call me back and we'll talk about installing a unit with a little more heating capacity. Bill Hammer (the owner) came out very quickly for an initial central heating estimate, and gave us a very reasonable quote for central heat + removal of an original floor furnace. He was able to squeeze us in within a week, and his crew took 3 days for a single story home. Each day they laid down plastic to minimize the dust/dirt, and cleaned up at the end of each day. What impressed me was that Bill worked closely with the crew each day at our home, and discussed their daily progress with us. At the end of the job, he did a walk through, and made sure the heat was being distributed properly and that the water heater was turned back on.
