I was there recently and had an amazing time. The atmosphere is great, the food was superb, and the employees were welcoming. One of the employees really stood out, I think his name was Paris ? Faris? He was a delightful addition to my time here. He has gone far and beyond with helping me pick out food and drinks. He was very patient and explained what was in the food. Happy Hour experience: it was okay, I'll do it again one day and hope to re-review. We sat at the lovely bar - I recommend only the pork belly buns from the HH food menu. I had issues with the QR website menu: images not matching what came out, unclear what's HH or not. We ordered off the real menu then- wontons in chili oil = delicious. The staff was very kind and usually very prompt! Mini annoyance: At one point, my friend ordered another Tsingtao, she didn't get it, we asked again, again didn't receive it, so we gave up. They eventually noticed she didn't have a full drink and asked if she wanted another, and then they charged us $11 instead of the HH $8. Oh well. read more

We came in on a rainy day just to walk around the city point mall. Just being there a few times many places were not open as of yet. I knew Trader Joe was down stair along with the food court. At the time my only criticism way that it was hard to find a seat to eat the food down there. This time we were pleased to find some sit down restaurants. Walking into Han Dynasty we where greeted and shown to a table. Staff was friendly and nice. And we were happy that we can have spicy for me and no spice what so ever for my wife. The food was very tasty and we loved the cocktails with and without alcohol. We did not eat a variety of dishes to make a truly accurate assessment. Good service, good food. Good drinks. Came here to kill time on a Friday during Happy Hour. Sat at the bar and thank GOD they had my favorite go to gin, Hendricks. (It's been a hell of a week I tell ya). Female bartender made it perfect on the rocks with tonic and a cucumber. Even offered to muddle it. Not necessary but appreciated the ask. I'm still trying to lose 15 lbs so I opted for appetizers. Got the chicken dumplings fried and the vegetable pancake thingy. Both were fine. Nothing special and hit the spot. The food was mediocre, and for the price tag it shouldn't be that (regardless of their "lunch special". ) There was zero quality in their dry pepper chicken combo. The chicken was all breading and loaded with hot peppers that weren't even edible. Had a lunch here with coworkers and I'm oberving the lenten season fast. I got the dry pepper fish with a rating of 8. The first couple spoonful of white rice and fish didnt give me that punch of hotness. Came the third and I felt the intense spicyness of the capsicum.... tears started coming out, sinus opened up, and the ratio of white rice to fish increased by two folds. Han Dynasty never failed me. Dining with a big group (13!) unlocked the unlimited rice and hot tea level. Courteous and knowledgeable staffs is a must and Han Dynasty succeeded. Cool ambiance and table arrangement. Came for some takeout dinner with friends on a Saturday night. I got the Dan Dan Noodles and thought it tasted great, I really liked the spice level for it. Portion size was also quite large. I'd want food from them again. I'd probably give this place a 5....but the wait was way too long and also very unorganized. The number of delivery service workers waiting to pick up food kept increasing, orders continually being called out, but nothing being picked up and number of people waiting probably grew from a handful to 20+. Love the Food here! Have been to the original- Philadelphia location and recently came across the one in Jersey. The food is just delicious, definitely one my fav Sichuan restaurants. The spices, the flavors, the options to pick the desired protein and spice level along with the authenticity is what makes this restaurant special for me. Note: this review update is for their takeout. Since COVID, their takeout situation is a mess. They're super busy with takeout/delivery orders and last time I went to pick up, I didn't get my order til almost 30 min after it was supposedly ready according to Caviar. The whole time I was trying to socially distance from the bunch of other people also waiting. The employee at the takeout counter did not make any attempt to establish a line, no stickers on the ground. It was just a free for all and you had to basically elbow your way in to check on your order. I hadn't been indoors around so many people in close quarters in a long time and it felt very unsafe. I tried to approach in a socially distanced manner but other customers just kept cutting me. I had to go up to the counter to check on my order 3 times, (waiting around about 10 min between each time) before finally getting my order. They really need to be more organized with how they handle takeout/delivery. Also the Dan dan noodles I got came in this long cylinder container where all the sauce sank to the bottom and most of the noodles were bone dry and tasteless. You have to really shake it to distribute. I don't know why the container isn't a shallow circular bowl like all their other noodles. Their fries are also way too oily as is most of their stuff. I usually get the cold noodles or the mung bean noodles but these have been blander (spicy but under salted) last few times I've ordered. Best dishes are dry pot style and cumin style. These are still really good (if you don't mind oiliness). Maybe the other entrees have more flavor when you get them with meat but I've found them thoroughly disappointing with tofu (vegetarian option). read more

First time here. I am gluten-free and our waiter's mom has celiac disease, so he had awesome recommendations on what to pick on the menu. He suggested the House Rice Noodles and they were delicious. I'm not sure if I just had a bad dinner but as a Chinese American this is not good Chinese food. I ordered the braised beef noodle and Mapo Tofu plus a side of spicy wonton in chili oil sauce and man was I disappointed. The noodles where soggy meaning they've been soaked in the soup too long. The rice was perfect for frying since it was hard and dry but not to eat as a plain side with the tofu. The wontons were good but they were the size of a dime and looked like fake Chinese fast food takeout wontons. The tofu barely had any minced pork which was sad. I went to Han Dynasty to order takeout, honestly not expecting much since I usually get food there. However, I HAD to ask for my cashier's name. Jose was amazing. He took good care of us, and thanks to him I got out of my comfort zone and tried the Hans Chicken which I believe is a new dish. A new favorite of mine. I was pretty skeptical at first because it didn't seem very authentic (and will note that the prices are NOT authentic...), but man - this place always makes my stomach happy. I also love that all of the locations are pretty consistent! If you like Szechuan food, this is easily the place for you. We ordered the wings, cumin fries, and I personally got the dry pepper chicken. Everything has so much flavor (Szechuan, duh) and leaves you wanting more. I tried Han Dynasty for the first time today, and was really looking forward to enjoying the Westlake Beef Soup and Eggplant with Garlic on a cold winter night. I hate being disappointed by bad Chinese food (there is so much of it), and I'm so sad to say I was incredibly disappointed by a place that has such good ratings and is pretty pricey to boot. The Westlake Beef soup surprisingly had zero taste. It essentially was a bowl of water, and I cannot figure out how that's possible because there were bits of beef, mushroom, and egg in it. I would have dumped a tablespoon of Five Spice powder into it if I had some (sadly, I didn't!) so I added Umami seasoning and pepper to try to add some taste. The Eggplant with Garlic sauce had no garlic in it (and didn't taste like garlic) and had that dreaded tasteless "brown" sauce so many "Chinese" restaurants use. We went here during the first of like many polar vortexes, it was effin freezing outside and honestly, when it's cold there are really only two things you can eat. Ramen is #1, but we were with a group and ramen doesn't necessarily lend itself to group eating. Case in point, you go to a place like Ichiran and you end up sitting in these little booths and get your food through a little curtain thingy from a waiter, it's almost like the place was designed for solo eating. I'm getting sidetracked - the point is I love Ramen but i don't get when groups of people go out together to get ramen. Number 2 is Chinese, it's warm and saucy enough to just perfectly hit the spot. All the meals are also family style, perfect for large groups who wanna share. And literally every shareable option at Han Dynasty is perfect. I was sceptical about coming to this place. I thought it was chinese food for American people. I was glad to find out the food was pretty authentic. The dan dan noodles were the best, no spicy at all, although they say is medium spicy. Fried dumplings were ok. The pea leaves were a bit overcooked and salty. The garlic sauce shirmp was ok too but not the best. The shrimps were goos size and very fresh but the sauce was a bit too thick. Rice was too saggy and poor quality. I remember when I first ate at the East Village location almost a decade ago, I fell in love with Han Dynasty. We would wait hours to be seated-and it was absolutely worth it back then. And when I heard they were moving to Brooklyn, I got excited. But then reality hit. Especially after COVID, this place is now wildly inconsistent. I usually find that when I order delivery, some of the dishes are terrible, as in absolutely inedible. When I dine-in, the food is a lot better. Makes me wonder if they have different chefs for delivery and dine-in. Be warned. When they miss, they miss hard. Tonight was the final straw...the rice was cold and old, the noodles were bland, and the mapo tofu was just weird. And this place is not cheap. Whatever. Our family took a few bites and ended up throwing the meal in the trash. Had to cook some quick pasta on the side so we wouldn't go to bed hungry. Never had to do that before. He let me know I would be the last order of the evening and gave pretty good advice on things to try. Since I was getting something quick before the movies, I went for fried rice. I bought food from this restaurant recently and unfortunately got food poisoning. I had a fever, diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, and a headache. I've never felt such painful stomach cramps in my life. I was told by my doctor that I got food poisoning, most likely due to bacterial cross contamination. I'm surprised this spot doesn't have better reviews! I often frequented the EV location during my time at NYU so imagine how excited I was to learn that they'd be opening one near me in Brooklyn! I will say, my opinion may be a bit biased because I am OBSESSED with Dekalb Market in general. Han Dynasty is small and they don't take reservations for parties smaller than 3 people so I've always had to wait to be seated. Luckily, they have one of those pads where they take your name and number and text you when your table is ready. Though I've had to wait the 3 times I've been there, it's always taken less time than what they initially estimate it will be. Service is great - pretty attentive even when it's busy. But like I said, it's a small spot! This might sound bad but some of the dishes with Szechuan peppers taste almost the same? Don't get me wrong, still delicious but I would not be able to tell which dish was cooked which style in a blind taste test. Regardless - whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll be good! She was awesome, very descriptive about the menu, heat levels, meal accompaniments etc. We decided to have the chicken lo mein, scallion pancake & kung pao chicken. I also ordered the Thai iced tea. Our server informed us that the meals come out as ready which was fine since they are meant to be shared. The food was brought to us rapidly one after, the other. The lo mein was the best I have had in a very long time. The scallion pancake was lite and airy. The Kung pao chicken was very good too. Everything was very good. Price point is decent especially, since the meals are shareable. The chicken lo mein was under $11, the Kung Pao under $16, scallion pancake about $5, Thai iced tea $4. Don't get the vegetarian / vegan dan dan noodles. It's just noodles with a bit of hot oil -- they don't replace the meat with any meat substitute. The Dry Pot style was supposed to come with Sichuan peppercorns, but we didn't detect any numbing sensations when eating the dish. Since I enjoy spicy food, I visit here pretty frequently with co workers for their lunch specials. I usually order their dry peppered chicken, which is great for their spice but chicken can be on the dry side. Their spiciest item on the lunch menu is their dry pot pork - which is fatty and definitely packs a kick in my mouth like it promises (hence, spice queen rate level 10). I also recommend their dry pepper chicken wings - which is tender and juicy and finger licking good! For the one time I went there during the weekend when I was not working, we ordered drinks from their full bar menu and the drinks were definitely on the strong side. So why the three stars? Should note that in menu or don't sell Mapo Tofu. I also just picked up lunch today. Very disappointed at the lunch menu, got the Dry Pepper Chicken, and it was just all dry pepper batter, hardly any chicken meat. I think management need to seriously review what's been served in pricing and what is actually being sold as listed, skimping out on ingredients on what you're selling is not a good idea. Don't bother doing takeout during lunch rush or any time close to lunch rush. Typically I'll order and go do TJ shopping. But somehow they always end up making you wait even after you've done the shopping. If it wasn't the only decent sichuan place around here, I wouldn't bother with the wait and the overpriced food. The dry pot fish is decent but too oily and spicy if you don't adjust the levels ($23 is pricy for the small portion though). You'll get a layer of red chili oil on top. The dan dan noodles are good but not consistent. Once I had a tub of noodles and sesame sauce and not much other flavor. The only somewhat consistently good item is the chili oil dumplings, which has a smaller filling and well mixed chili sauce (also on the oily side). As someone who lived in Philly for 8 years before moving to NYC I couldn't be happier to have a Han Dynasty in Brooklyn. This place delivers the super spicy Sichuan umami that you know and want and I really can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One piece of advice: If you're ordering delivery during these times during peak hours be prepared to wait... it can be an hour + wait and if you're using a delivery service the drivers can take a while to get in and out of the location due to the fact it's on a basement level of the building. Highly recommend their dry pot and hot sauce styles, Dan Dan noodles, and their string beans.
