Staff super friendly. First time having Huli Huli Chicken, came with a plate of veggies and rice. Smokey and flavorful reminded me of a rotisserie chicken. Really expensive place but definitely a spot for tourists to stop at.

My husband has been ranting and raving about this chicken since we came back. His feedback: "It's flavorful! It's tender! It's got everything you'd need so skip the sauce!" So I'd say it's definitely worth the stop on the way up. I tried a bit of the chicken and definitely agree. It reminded me of my mom's chicken growing up. The owner was there BBQing next to us and he seemed really friendly and that he loves what he does. The plate is huge so keep that in mind and you can definitely share it with another person maybe 2 depending on the appetite.

Service was super friendly. Portions were generous. Food was good enough to hold you over. This spot is nearing the end of the Road to Hana and right next to two other food spots (shrimp and pizza) and a cute gift shop and coffee shop. If you're hungry, you can stop but not essential if you're just doing a day trip.

I would say that this place is only worth stopping at if you're really hungry on your way to the road to Hana. There is only two options for what to order and if you order the chicken, there's not much meat on it. The service was great. The ambience was not that great And overall the food was just average. Definitely not worth trying if you're not starving...

One of the many side stops on the road to Hana to get food, but this is the only one that I think is really worth its weight. We got both options and we're very happy with both. I wish I could go back and get more chicken, cause it was so so good

Stopped here for lunch on the road to Hana. A lot of places were closed on Monday when we went but we're glad we stopped! It was cool to watch them grill the chicken and ribs right there. The meat was absolutely delicious, though the rice and veggies felt kind of slapped onto the plate and lacked seasoning or sauce. Staff was friendly.

If you're looking for a quick stop to eat on the road to Hana, definitely try the the ribs at Hana Huli Huli BBQ. They refreshingly hit the spot after a long day on the road and the portions are generous. They are long roasted and just need a bit of some barbecue sauce to enjoy.

Recommended by our friend and the tour guide, Huli Huli is a well-known BBQ stop along the Road to Hana. They serve roadside smoked chicken and ribs, so we decided to share the Huli Huli chicken plate. The chicken had a great smoky flavor, and the meat was juicy and tender. It was a hearty, satisfying meal, perfect comfort food for the trip!

This is the chicken plate divided up among three people and still plenty of food!

Delicious food from a local stop on the Road to Hāna! It is the perfect stop after working up an appetite completing the Road to Hāna. The service was wonderful and quick! There was plenty of outdoor seating. You can see where they are grilling the meat that is full of flavor. The vegetables and rice were delicious with soy sauce and other sauces available. We were able to divide one plate up among three of us and it was a decent portion size for each. This place is worth the stop and worth the wait as it it toward the end of the Road to Hāna.

Great place to check out on the way to the black sand beach in Hāna! Family run business with delicious chicken and ribs. There's also fresh coconuts from the stand next door and a small store.

Best tasting food had during my 5 days in Maui! Had the BBQ chicken with rice and veggies. Friendly atmosphere, nice people and great service!

On our way to Hana, this was our first food stop. And it was the smell of the yummy BBQ got us. We ordered pork ribs with rice and a side of vegetables. Really smokey, juicy, flavorful ribs. We loved each bite! There's a coconut stall on the side and other food options. Ran by a local family and I love how friendly they are. Definitely a must stop!! Grab yourself a plate full of yummy goodness!!

Pork ribs were a bit salty but the rice and veggies balanced it out. I like that they used Japanese rice. The veggies are boiled. It is cash only. $25/plate either pork or chicken. Extra $ if you want combo or more portions. Basic drinks were $2. There are more parkings in the back. We went on a Monday so the port a potties were closed. There are clean restrooms down the road called Hana farm. The folks working there are friendly. Understand that food options are limited and they are in the mountains serving you food so $25 is fair since other restaurants are closed on Mondays. Bring wet wipes bc there aren't sinks to wash your hands.

Located at what feels like the end of the world, Huli Huli Chicken was probably one of the best meals we enjoyed while in Maui. This makeshift tent on the beach serves up absolutely delicious chicken plates with a stunning view of the ocean. My husband and I each ordered a Huli Huli chicken deluxe plate which came with tons of tender, moist chicken, white rice, Mac salad and greens. We also decided to try one of their Kahlúa pork sliders, which was more the size of a regular sandwich than a slider. All in all we had way too much food, and we could have easily shared one of the deluxe plates, but it just meant we had plenty of leftovers to take back to our hotel with us. The service was fast and extremely friendly - they definitely make you feel like family and treat you with the aloha spirit.

We were debating whether to try another place but I'm very pleased we decided to go with Up in Smoke instead. The portion was reasonable for the price (It's a touristy destination, so don't complain about pricey food. I mean come on, what do you expect?) especially with how much meat was piled on top of the rice. I covered my bowl in the hottest hot sauce they had and I swear it was some of the most delicious hawaiian food I had my entire time on the island. I also got a side of homemade mac and cheese that reminded me of how my mother used to make it. The entire meal only cost me $14 which was a lot better than some of the other trucks on the Hana Highway. Great staff too, they recommend my meal. But luckily they didn't take the day off that we went. The one lady operating the stand was from Long Island, a few towns over from my hometown, which was surprising that she somehow settle in the middle of nowhere along the Road to Hana. She was very friendly and nice to chat to, all while she was working fast to get the orders churned out. I got the Kalua Pig Taco ($7.00), slow cooked shredded pork on a large tortilla with cheese, beans, homemade salsa, and shredded cabbage. Part of my concern was that everything was sitting in buffet like-trays. Luckily the food was still fresh. The kalua pig was tender and flavorful. The salsa was not very spicy but they did have bottles of BBQ Sauce, Sweet Chili Pepper, and Hot Chili Garlic by the front counter to squeeze on my taco. I love spicy, so I tried the Hot Chili Garlic that did add some good heat to the taco. But overall, I didn't really feel like all the ingredients really meshed well together. Everything was good on its own, but altogether, it didn't really have that wow factor. I also tried the Shrimp Taco ($8.50). The shrimp was firm and not dried out from sitting in the tray. The rest of the ingredients were the same as the Kalua Pork Taco. Again, it just didn't impress. Average shrimp taco that was easily forgotten. Between the two tacos, I would get the Kalua Pig Taco for its Hawaiian authenticity, but if you're lucky enough, go to Island Chef for some delicious Coconut Shrimp. They are unbelievably good.
