    Fish Taco

The perfect stop for some fresh seafood. Our table had the fish taco (it was HUGE) and the butter and garlic shrimp over jasmine rice. It was amazing! Honestly the best rice I have ever had. I wish I had ordered more.

The only place to eat while on the Road to Hana! Brandon is a true chef that knows how to prepare true Hawaiian food. He's specials are yum yum yum good. My picky eater said it was the BEST burger she ever had. My husband loved the shrimp that was recommended, such a flavorful sauce.

    Menu

The fish and chips was delightful, the fish was ono, and the batter was light and tasty. Took less than 10 minutes made to order and the chef/cashier/server was a delight. 10/10 recommend. Outside setting at a roadside food truck on the road to Hana.

Either on the way or on the way back, this place has amazing fish tacos and coconut shrimp. Don't be fooled by the word Tacos.... It's one huge deep fried flour tortilla with an over abundance of fresh fish topped with a fresh mix of veggies and fries. The coconut shrimp will knock your socks off. Thank Sir for your hospitality.

Food was great! Had the pork tacos & wife had the fish tacos! The two owners were very nice and great / quick service! Fresh food and great location / atmosphere with outdoor seating Good price for the food and plenty of it! Would recommend

The fish n chips here were SO freaking good. We stopped at the market along the Road to Hana looking for some bbq, but that spot was closed, so we decided to try Island Chef instead. Eric was really nice. The fish was super fresh- perfectly crispy and not too greasy. The lemons came from his garden. Picnic style seating. Highly recommend this place.

What looks like a small restaurant in the side of the road is actually an island paradise! The fish and chips and coconut shrimp were excellent! The person was very nice and offered us more sauce and napkins. I would definitely recommend this place to people driving the road to Hāna. Definitely worth the stop! Another recommendation: take a picture next to the big cardboard shrimp (it's cute). All in all, the place itself and the service was amazing! We loved coming here and we hope to come again sometime!

We loved it ! The menu is limited to Fish and Chips and Coconut Shrimp but, both are fantastic! Really great place to stop on The Road to Hana. Eric the owner was super nice and had our order up and ready fast. Lots of picnic table seating under roof next to the food truck. Limited parking in the lot but most people come and go ... we will be back next time we head to Hana.

This was a great find on our road to Hana. It's in Nahiku marketplace which is just before the Hana. Shrimp Chowmein was so good. Huge portions and very fresh shrimps. We loved the taste. It had great wok flavors. Ordered coconut shrimp too after tasting fresh shrimps in chowmein, however it was over battered and didn't taste so good. It's was more of a coconut bread taste than any prawns in it. But still overall food is very good here. Lady at the counter who apparently was chef too was very sweet.

If you are ever traveling on the road to Hana in Maui, this is simply the best place to stop for a quick authentic fresh catch of the day island dish. Chef Eric will cook an amazing tasty dish each time. In our case we order the classic fish and chips and also coconut shrimp both with fries. The batter on both the shrimp and fish had a nice perfect crunch on the outside and fluffy inside which was the perfect combination with the fresh well seasoned fish and shrimp, nothing overcooked/fried or greasy...just perfect. The service was amazing and part of the experience, chef Eric will confirm catch of the day and cook it just the way you want it. Nice clean place with shade on hot days and if you are lucky you might see the ocasional house cat roaming for snacks and a friendly tourist cuttle. Would definitely go back and definitely recommend...cash only

Coconut shrimp.. really good, but overpriced $20 for 5
    Lucille L.

Overpriced, but really good coconut shrimp... you can taste the fresh coconut! $20 for 5 shrimps and some fries.. you can decide if it's worth it. Probably the best coconut shrimp though, so maybe it is..

The famous mobile truck! You might even see a loving cat nearby

After checking the other food trucks, about 4 or 5, that share the lot with Da Fish Shack, I walked back to this one because I love fish and wanted to try the seared fish (ahi) plate on the menu, and also because of the friendly and warm aloha welcome I received when I approached this food truck the first time and asked questions about their menu which was answered unhurriedly and politely. The grilled ahi was very good - well seasoned, tender and a good portion, without the $$$$ price tag of restaurants in the town of Hana. I also enjoyed the homemade chili and pineapple sauce, and vegetable that came with my ahi. The owner also gave me a nice size sample of poke which was really fresh and delicious too! We ate at a covered picnic table which is clean and provided shade from the sun. I should mention it is an outdoor seating so keep your food covered to keep flies off your plate. A minor nuisance. Also, if you need a bathroom break, there are public restrooms in the beach located 15 minutes from this food trucks stop. Make this your stop after the Hana heavy drive and help support small local businesses! It is a good thing!

The Absolute Best Meal on the Island--A Masterclass in Food & Service!…read moreIf I could give Seafood Bar & Grill 10 stars, I would. This wasn't just a dinner; it was our absolute favorite meal of the entire trip. We didn't even have a special occasion to celebrate--we just had a phenomenal experience here in the past and couldn't wait to return. They somehow managed to exceed every expectation. From the second we walked in, we were blown away. We loved the Tiki Bar, everyone is family when you walk in, history covering the walls ambiafamily-friendly; ev Seafood We were greeted by Dave Yurtin, the owner, who set up a fabulous table for us inside. But here is the kicker: Dave actually remembered us from our first visit two years ago! Talk about a total legend. We couldn't believe his memory--that is next-level hospitality. Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Do not skip this! - Garlic Bread: Spectacular and perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor. - Fish Linguine: A rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce packed with different types of fresh fish. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and tried FOUR different ones: the Key Lime Pie was unbelievable, the Lilikoi Pie and Kona Coffee Pie were spectacular, and the NY Cheesecake with Lilikoi Sauce was the perfect grand finale. Between Dave's legendary memory, Ryan's flawless service, and a kitchen that doesn't miss, Seafood Bar & Grill is an absolute must-visit. We will be talking about this meal until our next visit! Thank you for an unforgettable night!

All of the reservation times during sunset were taken, so we ate a little earlier but still managed to see the sunset as we were leaving. The views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. We even got to experience a light rain shower followed by a beautiful rainbow while we were there. Our server was Tim, who was beyond kind, attentive, and engaging. He displayed some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced at a restaurant. He made wonderful recommendations and truly made us feel so special celebrating our soon-to-be baby. To start, we ordered the tako (octopus); it was served in the manner in which escargot is - tons of butter and garlic, and paired well with wonderful fresh-baked bread. For our entrées, both my husband and I did a duo where we could pick two smaller portions of the entrée dishes. I did a duo with the fresh lobster and lamb special, while my husband did a duo with the fish pasta special and the curry scallops. All four entrées were absolutely divine, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to sample a little bit of everything from the menu. To wrap things up, we had to try the infamous pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding with salted caramel, and they even gave us a complementary dessert for our babymoon, which was their take on a s'more. Both desserts were phenomenal, but I could have easily eaten two helpings of the pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding. If you find yourself in Maui and have the opportunity to make a reservation at Merriman's in Kapalua, I cannot recommend it enough as this was one of those meals that my husband and I will be talking about for a very long time.

For starters, the tako (octopus) escargot (instead of snails) was so good! Ceviche was also great. I had the highly recommended shrimp and pork chow fun for entree. It's slightly different from the Chinese style chow fun in the sauce. The shrimp were cut up in small pieces. The pork was actually spicy sausage, so it should've been more specific on the menu. The sausage made the dish greasier and saltier than it has to be. I didn't like it. My husband had the pork quesadilla that had great flavors but a bit soggy. Daughter had the ahi tuna. She's had a lot of tuna dishes on this trip, but didn't like this dish as much especially the wasabi soy sauce. Son had the crispy pork shank, and that was very good! Falling off the bone tender, nice tropical salsa to balance the rich flavors. The bread pudding with ice cream was a lovely finish. Service was excellent.
