    6/13/2025: HanBul Hanguk Menus.

6/13/2025: Can you say, "MAYWORE?!" BTW: MAYWORE means VERY SPICY in Korean=매우 매운~lol! Seriously, I wasn't expecting the dish I ordered would be 매우 매운 since, my first-born daughter and I were inhaling at a "Korean Restaurant" located in Santa Rosa CA: I truly thought the food was going to be "watered down, American-style, Korean Cuisine!" Waaaah~was I egregiously assuming wrongly or WOT????!!!! My mouth was "FYWUH" as Elmer Fudd exclaimed while I was bitterly exclaiming, "OOOOOooof~ MAYWORE----MAYWORE!!!!!" Mianhae~Anni mogo (Sorry~I can't eat it)!!!! Seriously, I came to a grinding halt--I immediately stopped eating my dish I ordered, decided taking the dish home, and quickly doctoring it in order, making the dish less spicy and more palatable~ooooof! Anyway, I spoke to the owner who was very surprised I taught ESL/TOEFL in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, South Korea and began speaking to her the Sokcho dialect~lol while my first-born daughter was smirking copying what I said in Korean! Aside, I asked the owner not to make my dish 매우 매운 next visit--CHEBAL= 제발--제발!! Nummu kamsamnida, Samonim!!!!!

Spicy pork and Kimchi stew tasted

Not gonna lie -- based on these photos -- I legitimately thought this was a super authentic Korean restaurant. Their presentation is amazing and so perfectly alluring. But to the eyes and taste buds of a true Korean, everything is off from the flavor to the colors of the food. The best way to describe this place is that they serve Korean style food that's designed and flavor tested for people who are not Korean. What type of people you ask? I have no clue. I ordered a spicy bulgogi (돼지불고기) + kimchi stew (김치찌개) dinner combo set and both dishes along with every banchan side dish tasted weird. Kimchi stew tasted like something I've never tasted in my life and the spicy pork bulgogi was forgettable. The food doesn't taste awful; it just doesn't taste like Korean food. This place probably tastes really good for people who've never tried real Korean food but as a Korean and LA Ktown native at that - this place gets 2 stars from me and I also wish I had chosen a different restaurant to eat at tonight.

Cute spot, the food looked good until I bit into the teriyaki beef, it was raw, grey pink and had cold teriyaki sauce on it, the meat was actually still cold as well, that's what made me take a closer look and noticed upon unfolding the thin flaps that the meat was raw and glazed. I did get a different item after showing the manager what was served on my plate. Long story short, check your meat before chowing down. I ended up vomiting an hour later, my stomach wasn't having any of this.....

Excellent Korean restaurant option in downtown Santa Rosa to satisfy your bbq or banchan cravings. Shared space with Haku Sushi if you're indecisive because you can choose from both menus! What we ordered: -2 item dinner combo set (bulgogi and soondobu) -Bulgogi: a little too sweet for my preference but nice char from the sizzling plate -Soondobu (Korean tofu soup): delicious soup base! Made me order extra rice which I never do. -Banchan: comes with the set (fish cake and Japchae were the best) -Steamed egg: must get! Fluffy and savory served piping hot. Don't worry if the bottom is slightly burnt (it's the proper style that gives the egg a toasted flavor) -Kimchi pajeon (pancake): dipping sauce was the bomb.com -Ice cream: seasonal house made flavors like mint chocolate chip. Refreshing and served with frozen rasberry kernels and pocky. A hidden gem. ~$95 for two was decent value as we ordered appetizers and had leftovers. Come for the steamed egg and tofu soup. Stay for the seasonal ice cream and cute indoor seating that gives your party a private feel.

    Beef and pork combo

We ordered the beef and pork combo, which is meant for two people but we were surprised by how much food actually came out. It didn't even fit on our table! In addition to the combo, we also tried a roll and the spicy edamame. The edamame wasn't spicy at all instead, it had more of a hoisin sauce flavor, which was a letdown. Service wise, there wasn't a specific server assigned to our table, but all the staff were friendly and attentive. That said, our food took a while to arrive, and we noticed other tables that came in after us were served much sooner. On a positive note, the lemonade was really refreshing and definitely a highlight of the meal. Overall, while the portions were generous, the combo plates felt overpriced, and the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. I probably wouldn't order the combo again next time, we'd just stick to the rolls.

    Banchan with mold

I've been coming here for about six years and have always had good experiences, which makes this visit especially disappointing. Tonight, I was served moldy banchan. It had visible white fuzzy mold and tasted like mold after I ate some of it. The server was apologetic and took it back right away, but when the manager came out, she insisted it was not mold and argued with me for several minutes. She even spoke to me in a condescending way, questioning whether I knew what the dish was called in Korean. I may not be Korean, but I am very familiar with this dish and even have it at home--this was absolutely not normal. Instead of taking accountability, they brought out unsolicited items (a squid dish and later ice cream), even after I said I didn't want anything else. At that point, I just wanted to leave. What was most frustrating is that the bill initially came with no adjustment at all. Only after I pushed back did they take $30 off a $170 bill for two people. That's not acceptable given that I was served and ATE moldy food. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and the way this situation was handled was extremely poor. A sincere apology, accountability, and a reasonable adjustment to the bill would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be returning.

Stopped by for solo dinner as I really wanted Korean food. I originally wanted to get their banchan omakase but the server said that it's not quite a meal. So I got a combo instead, the kalbi was super tasty. I was a little surprised because I forgot to ask for no spicy for the soodubu, but it was not as spicy as I thought. They both paired really well. The banchan was also tasty but you have to pay for a refill. If I come back again, I'd definitely come with someone else so we can order the banchan omakase. Staff was friendly, there was inexpensive parking lot next door.

Love love love this place! I'm absolutely obsessed with the taste of every single item of the menu. When I say this is my favorite Korean Bbq location in Santa Rosa, I am not kidding! The flavors, spices, textures of every single item was spectacular! Staff is very friendly and so knowledgeable of the menu which is importantly if it's your first time visiting! They explain how everything on the menu works and how to go bout not ordering to much, although left over safe always welcome! Ambiance is super casual and it's a really nice place to go to take your tastebuds for a delusions ride!

LA Kalbi Short Ribs Dinner Set Spicy BBQ Chicken Dinner Set

One of the best Korean restaurants in town. Their food, customer service, and atmosphere are top-notch. Every time I visit with family or friends, I always order the love boat. Especially when I'm sick, I love their soondubu soup the most and my husband loves their bibimbap.

    Babchan

Good food and good service. We tried the bibimbap and it was delicious. You have to order banchan separately for added Korean side dishes which in my experience, too expensive. Most other Korean places include banchan with most orders.

Ambiance: 2/5 The sushi restaurant they were sharing the space with had a nice dining area. Very cute wooden Japanese furnishing. Unfortunately we had a regular table that was near the front, which made it a bit chilly so we had to stay bundled up during our whole meal. Food: 1/5 The side dishes were not good. Kimchi did not have enough umami/spice. (In my opinion, Kimchi is the #1 tell if a Korean restaurant would be good or not) Steamed egg was bland and very watered down. The soup was a let down as well. Entrees came out hot but cooled down very quickly, which made it unappetizing. The meats looked better than they actually tasted. We were in the area and were craving kbbq, and were very disappointed. The only thing that saved the night was dessert! We had the sesame ice cream. Not too sweet and yummy. In my opinion the dessert would do better without the frozen raspberries bits. (too sour/doesn't pair well with the black seseme) Service: 2/5 We were greeted when we entered. They asked us if we were here for Sushi or the Korean restaurant and then seated us shortly after. Our server was nice and everything we ordered came out in a timely manner. During check out our waitress told us we would be able to get 10% off if we paid in cash. So we tried to see if we had enough and unfortunately we didn't. So we wanted to pay card instead. The manager was near by and began giving us a lot of attitude telling us that the atm isn't far. Basically trying to push us to pay cash when we already decided not to. I found it very off putting and quite unprofessional. Overall, wouldn't come back. The food and service was not worth the value.

Kimchi Stew, Bibimbab, Buglogi, and Banchan! It always feels like a feast at Han Bul!

The beef wasn't chewy or anything, but the sauce just didn't have that "wow" factor. I wanted a flavor punch and got a light tap instead. * Pork Fried Rice: Pretty decent! Good sized portion for the price, and it hit the spot, but it's nothing I'd write home about. * Egg Rolls: Solid crunch, stayed hot on the drive home, which is a win in my book. Filling was boring. It's good for a quick Tuesday night fix, but I'm still looking for my "holy grail" Chinese spot.

The sushi place I went to the previous night left me unsatisfied and yearning for more and better sushi. As an introvert, I prefer to come to restaurants on their off hours. To my surprise, even at 1:30 PM the place was busy. There were plenty of tables, but there were also plenty of patrons. Most of them were Korean, which is always a good sign when you go to a Korean/Japanese restaurant. The server and she was the only one was extremely nice. In her younger days, I'm sure she would've passed for a K-pop star. I knew what I wanted from the menu because I searched their website the night before. I ordered the 25 piece sashimi dish. It comes with a salad and miso soup. The salad was tasty with a nice light dressing that didn't overpower the other foods. The miso soup was perfect. It was not too salty as the other place that I had visited. The star of the afternoon was the sashimi plate. It came out on the bed of ice that was huge! My eyes bulged when I saw how much food was on there. In today's shrink-flation I was expecting smaller portions but I was wrong. There were so many varieties of fish that all tasted amazing. I'm not a big fan of octopus, but this one was perfect. It wasn't chewy and the sizes were small enough to fit in my mouth without feeling like I ate a large rubber band. I'm not sure of all the fish that were on there, but most of them would qualify as my favorites. I'm so glad they did not add the omelette thingy that I absolutely hate. Between the sashimi, the miso soup, and the salad I was completely satisfied and happy. I know there are other places in Santa Rosa that are probably better, but this will be my go to place when I'm craving sushi sashimi. They also have Korean dishes, but I've not tried any of them yet. Perhaps the next visit, I will try them out. Maybe what I will do is order the smaller 15 pieces and add a Korean dish. Many thanks to the chefs and the server for a magnificent experience.g
