Got a free hat for ice cream day. The banana cream pie is my favorite flavor so far, it has bits of vanilla cookie and marshmallow fluff with a light banana flavor. So I randomly felt like Ice Cream around 8pm on a Sunday, and I saw that Handel's did not close until Midnight! I pulled up and there is a lime wrapped around the building, which ALMOST turned me off, until I realized they had about 5 workers at the window while another 3 were running around in the back. Which made the line move along fast. There was plenty of patio seating outside, the entire area was clean, and as always, Handel's tasted great. This weekend we were closer to this location so we stopped by it was a very hot day. I was soooo excited to see that the pink lemonade was still available. So far my favorite flavor. But I did notice that the scoops were a lil smaller. Also this location does have the umbrellas at the table but it didn't do justice. As hot as it gets out here maybe some misters or extra shade that covers the whole table area. Our ice cream melted super fast and it was uncomfortable in the heat. Love the assortment of flavors they offer! I love desserts but can't do really sweet so it was hard to choose a flavor for my liking. If you're like me I'd recommend the vanilla with Oreos or cheesecake with Oreo. I tried ooh dough was good but tasted more like plain vanilla. If I could give this location zero stars, I would and it has nothing to do with the employees. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. My issue is with the company itself. We used to come here all the time because the portions were generous and the quality was great. Lately, though, it feels like the scoops have gotten noticeably smaller. It honestly looks like they're using the lid of the container instead of the actual scoop just to serve less ice cream. For the price they're charging, the portions no longer feel worth it. It seems like the company started out offering great value to build a loyal customer base, but now it feels more focused on cutting portions while continuing to raise prices. Came to this location for the first time today after Cava which is next store, love that! Other locations have an inside of the store you walk into but this one is just a walk up window so you can't see what the flavors look like, which also impacts how I decide which flavors I want to sample. Wish the layout was different but I've noticed a few of their stores are designed this way. There is quite a bit of covered seating outside which is also nice. The girl working was also very kind. My favorite flavors are the mud pie and cheesecake with Oreo and was saddened to learn this location does not have the mud pie flavor. Not sure if that's a permanent change but hopefully not and hopefully not the case at the other locations. Overall I would definitely go to this location again when I am in the area. read more

There is definitely something for everyone. You do have to eat it quickly because it is served really soft and it doesn't take long to melt. I went on Saturday, the day of their grand opening. The lines were crazy long, so I decided to come back later. I ended up returning right before they closed and there was no longer anyone waiting in line. I walked right up to the window and placed my order. I've tried a few different flavors, but I keep coming back for the Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie. The small consists of 2 1/2 scoops which is more than enough for me. They have waffle cones (plain or dipped), waffle bowls, sugar cones, and cake cones, or you can request a plastic cup. If you haven't tried them already, come on down. If you can't quite decide on one flavor, ask for a 4-scoop sampler, and get 4 scoops of your favorite flavors in one container. read more

It's nice that there is a Handels near my house now instead of having to drive to the Upland location. We have enjoyed this ice cream for a while and still do! When I arrived there was thankfully no line even though they just opened, I think I waited long enough that the new location rush died down some. It appears that the owner is trying to save money by having employees give the bare minimum ice cream amount. I ordered 2 scoops and this is what I got. I would have not accepted it and asked for a refund, but this was an online order and I had a family member pick it up. The one in Rancho Cucamonga gives bigger scoop samples, so I was really shocked at how little ice cream I got. The ice cream is good, but in this economy, if I want to splurge a little, I want to get my money's worth. I will not be going to this location, and urge others to support the Rancho Cucamonga location, which is under different ownership. They also don't answer their phone. read more
