Pretty disappointed in Bills work. We ordered 2 white oak shelves and I said multiple times i do not want nails in front of shelve faces. Bill told me he had to use a few. Unfortunately a few meant 23 nail holes in my $700 shelves. Shelves we built very strong but the finish on the front of shelves turned out like garbage. If you want your project painted Bill is your guy. But if you are planning on using stain or oil finish I would look elsewhere. Bill's response was to hire a finished painter to color match but no painter wants to touch it. Will need to tear these down and hire someone who understands want the customers wants. $700 down the tube. read more

Hey DIY'ers! You know those projects that you'll say you do, but never get around to? What about those seemingly "weekend warrior" undertakings that always end up making you wish you never started? Bill the Handy Craftsman is THE MAN for the job. Shutting off my marketing-man sales pitch mode, I called Bill for a project I knew I'd be in deep if screwed up...cabinet hardware installation. This is one of those that seems like a "yeah I got this, hand me my beer" jobs, but really there's no room for error, and precision is key drilling the holes and lining everything up (I'd have been a 1/16 of an inch - measure twice, drill once...yeah ok!). He absolutely nailed it! Hardware looks great and lines up perfectly (34 total pulls installed). To boot, he was incredibly responsive via text and phone (huge in the contractor industry!) He kept me in the loop on every detail, and was extremely upfront about the costs associated (which were priced perfectly). Day of the job, he was personable and gave some great advice, but also took mine as requested (I'd recommend taking his advice). I forgot to do this review and this is the kind of review I love to make! Bill is very busy and this is expected because he can do anything. Once I agreed with him on the work, the rates, and all, he came over with his truck and one day later we had accomplished 90% of the work. He told me he could come back 2 days later just to complete, and sure enough he was there for that last hour of work. He had all his tools, he is very organized, and always clean up his site and keep it safe at all times. On top of it, he was very entertaining and very fun to work with. You may wonder what he did... I have rafters in my garage so we reinforced the rafters with some larger beams, sistered (I think this is the term used) the existing 2x4s, added a ladder, and made a custom size plywood floor. It had been more than 6 months now, and the storage is full and holding :) and the ladder works like a charm.
