The atmosphere was good, the food was okay, but the reason for the one star review is the waitstaff and management. Three friends and I decided to visit Hangar last week, and our experience was okay until the end of our meal. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes after we finished eating before our waitress stopped by to ask if we were finished and bring us our checks. After waiting another 20 minutes once we provided our cards, we began looking around and noticed her over by the bar running our cards while another (clearly) over-served patron stood closely by watching and talking with her. Before our waitress even brought our checks, the drunk patron came to our table to accost and harass us inside for 5-10 minutes while the waitstaff and management did nothing. This patron was so persistent in her harassment of us, she even followed us outside after we left to get away from her. No one from the wait staff or management intervened during this time. This was near closing time, and there were approximately 10-15 other guests at that time. When one of my friends spoke with the GM that night, he seemed unconcerned by this patron harassing other customers. I decided to call the GM the next day to share my concerns, and ask them to consider having management step in and deal with belligerent customers in the future. At that time, he provided several explanations as to how this other patron became so belligerent and said he would call me once he got "to the bottom of what happened" despite telling me he already reviewed footage from that night before calling me. The call felt half-hearted and full of excuses, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have not heard from him since. Long story short, avoid this place until they switch management and/or wait staff. The atmosphere and food wasn't worth the slow service and lackluster efforts we saw from the management team to make all of their customers feel safe and comfortable. read more

Came back her couple times already and they still got it. Food is good (small portions for the price -so you gotta order a bunch and share) and drinks are on def point. Service is always great never had a bad one. They were playing live music outside on a Friday, not sure if this is new or something they do on occasions but it was perfect. This was an ok experience. The decor is interesting and they have plenty of outdoor seating. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was ok. Da goat was nothing to write home about. We saw rave reviews about it but it was underwhelming and the spicy tomato sauce part of the dish was anything but. My husband ordered their salmon roll which he thought was pretty good. I ordered the chicken amandine and it was such a small portion for the price. I think this place has an identity crisis. They state they're a tapas style place. But they have tacos, sushi and the more traditional American fare such as sliders. Made reservations here for our 5th wedding anniversary. When we made the reservation we told them 2 adults and a toddler. when we got there we asked for a high chair or a booster. the manager came out and told us that they didn't have either because they are just more of a date night place. We have been to the Hanger several times since we first met one year ago. We returned because the food & service was superior. We were there this evening and will say that we're not likely to return again. On the menu-they offer Braised Short Ribs went from being "Ribs" to one solo rib? When you pay more than. $30 for this entree-and they serve one small short rib-it does leave a bad taste in one's mouth. :( In addition to this-we noticed an additional fee for our using a credit card? Since when is this a customers responsibility? There are many other great restaurants in St. Louis-you may want to think twice about patronizing the Hanger. read more

We went here for the first time last night. The atmosphere was great. We sat on the patio. They had good background music. The food and drinks were fantastic. We shared the crab rangoon, veggie roll, and cauliflower bites. I had a negroni cocktail. My wife had a glass of Imagery chardonnay. My only criticism is their systems were off a little. It took a long time for our server to come the table and bring waters. We ordered crab rangoon for a starter and it came out before we got our drinks. Our server was very good. Arrival - great! The hostess was available right away and sat us outside per our request. She made sure that we were set on sitting outside as they weren't busy so there were options. Only downside was she only gave us two sets of silverware and menus even though she was told 4 people. Staff during meal - eh...we didn't see our waitress too much. Our order was repeatedly messed up. Maybe it's because she didn't write it down? We kept running out of beverages (mostly water). Overall a subpar experience at best. Food - most of the food was pretty good honestly. My one qualm is that they bring food out whenever it's ready. So...if one person in your group gets a salad it's going to come 20 min before the last persons meal comes. The wait staff kept walking around trying to figure out where each dish went. We were asking multiple times if we got something but it was for a completely different table. With this kind of serving style I would suggest making it a tapas restaurant so if things come at different times the table is sharing in the dishes when they come. * Ahi Tuna Roll - was decent. I felt the portions were small for the price. I didn't like that we were required to order all our small plates at one time, especially since we didn't know how small the portion sizes were. My experience with tapas has always been that more could be ordered if the group was still hungry...and we we're still hungry at the end of our meal. Also, the food just ok. I expected better quality for the price as well. I felt we would have caused frustration for our server had we ordered more so this was not a welcoming experience. We had the deviled egg appetizer, it was good although could have been better, I would try one of the other appetizer first. We decided this time to sit out on the patio because it was such a nice day. The vibe was great. Since the concept is tapas style it allows you to try many different dishes. Love love love this place!! Went for my first time and brought back my family within a week! Amazing atmosphere both inside and on the patio. It is tapa styled so the portions are small, would recommend getting a few dishes and splitting it among the table rather than personal orders. This restaurant is an interesting concept in a location that has churned though so many places. The menu is very simple and I was unclear if this was Covid related or not. I say this because it's really hard to get a reservation here so we were surprised by how simple the menu was. We had tacos and loaded fries and they were quite tasty. This was my second Friday in a row at Hangar Kitchen + Bar. I loved it so much with my girlfriends last weekend I made it a date night this weekend. This newer STL restaurant is a soon-to-be a staple. Some of my favorites are the Korean Cauliflower Bites, Harvest Salad, Heat Is On Sliders, Flamin' Salmon Roll, and the Crab Rangoon Roll. I was apprehensive about the a sushi roll of crab Rangoon at first. I pictured something heavy and dense, but wow was I surprised. It's made with large pieces of crab, the perfect smear of cream cheese, and wrapped in a light doughy fried breading. This roll is so unique and I'm glad my friend suggested [insisted] getting it! Everything is made to order, so it comes out hot and fresh - no heat lamps. The outdoor area is just as trendy as the indoor dining. Their menu is tapas style, so we shared several things. Food comes out as it get's done in the kitchen, so plates arrive at all different times, which actually makes is nice for sharing! We shared Da Goat (goat cheese marinara dish), 3 sushi rolls, sirloin steak, pork belly tacos, and short rib! Nothing disappointed! They even had my favorite cocktail of all time.....Frose (frozen rose)! Only downfall....their menu is quite pricey! Everything was comfortable, and very clean. Bartenders was great, though wine choices were tremendously expensive. A glass of Ste. Michelle, which I don't like, was $12 and the next price for a glass of Chardonnay was $15. It was good, but $15! There were no small salads either, which we always like to get. Hangar has very nice vibe, it's warm, i may say it has the winter vibe, the wood and leather furniture added to it. We were 10 and we all enjoyed the food and the drinks. The braised rib taste way better than picture with pureed potatoes. My other suggestions are the flamed salmon and ahi tuna roll, my friends enjoyed the lobster roll, the mac and cheese. Cute place but very pricy for what it is. The meal in the photo was $95.00 before tip. It's literally tacos and spaghetti. The portions are small for the price. I asked if the pasta came with anything and the waiter said no but it was a good size. It's in a shallow bowl that's just a saucer type plate with about 1.5 cups of pasta and 3 shrimp--$30! My wife and I came in the night before Valentine's Day after making reservations the week prior. The good: the food was fantastic and the service was just fine. We really enjoyed our four plates. The bad: it was cold. Real cold. Granted it was 10 degrees outside, but the restaurant has two large wooden doors in their foyer, one of which is open all the time. My wife and I (with other parties near us) were sat about 10-15 feet away from the foyer. People were eating dinner with coats on. I requested to be moved given it was going to be hard to enjoy dinner like that, but the hostess said the only other table that was available was closer to the foyer. About a quarter of the restaurant was empty at this time as we ate early, but I am assuming the whole floor plan with reservations were already laid out and she didn't want to change them. She said "sorry" and that was the end of the conversation. I can understand keeping the restaurant warm right inside the front door is difficult when it's so cold outside, but just accepting your guests are going to have to be cold during their dinner isn't good enough. Close the door, bring in a floor heater, don't seat people in the 3-4 two top tables closest to the door, heck hand out blankets, but just saying "sorry" when people are getting a gust of 10 degree cold air coming in didn't make us satisfied. read more
