We found this little place a few years ago and loved it. And then last year we went twice and both times my chicken sandwich was overcooked and inedible. But everything else there is nice the service the bartender. So we went back yesterday tried the grilled cheese and the soup. The soup was okay very Bland and quite flavorless. My husband's French dipped meat looked like it's sat dry just terrible. But he's not a complainer . The nachos I just don't understand. The guacamole you could tell sat because it was almost gray I said nothing. Melted mozzarella on nachos strange? No lettuce no tomato No olives nothing a traditional nachos have so please don't call it that. It was chips with melted cheese on top. And as far as my grilled cheese sandwich went. Well the underside of it was soaking wet like a sponge the cheese wasn't gooey and melty like a traditional grilled cheese was. And I did say something about the wetness of the bread. I was told it's probably the butter or the grill or the broiler or the toaster I don't know. $9 is no big deal but the point is she made us pay for a sandwich that I ate half of it barely. Kind of pissed me off to be quite honest. The drinks are pretty good. But I always find when we go in here the bartender is the only one that's serving and waiting on everyone which is ridiculous I don't know who owns this place but pay for some staff pal.. read more

We have gotten fish and chips literally down the entire east coast and coast to coast BUT this was by far the best! The perfect balance of immaculately seasoned batter and juicy cooked to perfection fish on the inside. The appetizers were to die for!!! I came here on a Saturday night with some friends to grab a few drinks and eat some appetizers. We were definitely expecting a larger crowd, as mentioned by their other customers. Unfortunately we didn't get to experience the "hangtime" that is word of mouth in this area, but their service was phenomenal regardless. They have a large bar, centered around a few tables. Their menu is exactly what you'd expect from a pub, with sandwiches, burgers, salads, flatbreads, pizza, etc. They have a more upscale twist to their food selection, and my favorite item was the meat and cheese board. Definitely not something I would've guessed came served to our table (outside of wine tasting lol). The waitress, I believe her name was Nicole, was sweet, quick, and made lovely suggestions. This place is great! I only took a star off because I wish they had more weekly specials, but it's still a wonderful place to visit. read more

I would give Hangtime 2 stars because the atmosphere was very boring and there wasn't much ambiance for a Saturday night. It was actually pretty dead. We had a group of six and we did ask in the beginning to split the checks and were given a attitude by our server. I ordered the nachos as a appetizer and the other five people ordered wings. The server told us that the wings take 2.5 minutes to cook in the back. However, my nachos and their wings took about 25 minutes to come out to our table, even though they were dead. My nachos were absolutely disgusting and came out cold! They had brown guacamole on them and the "melted" cheese was still cold and frozen it seemed like. We were looking for a place to watch the Washington Redskins play being though we were not at home. Upon pulling in the parking lot we thought the place was closed, but it wasn't. The service was awesome at the bar with just one bartender and a fully packed bar. Marcy was the bartender and she made us feel at home and help with wonderful menu items to choose from. Not worth the trip...Shame, it's clean and nice inside and the help are all very nice... The 1st time we went, my medium-rare burger was well done, that was ok, since the Mussel Marina my husband got, he loved, it had sausage in it, which made it even better... we went back a few weeks later again, my burger was again, well done, but my husbands Mussles had no sausage, said something to the bartender and he said nothing, the other bartender, at least went to the kitchen and came back and said nothing, we figured he was told, they didn't care... I wrote a letter and they didn't get back to me, acknowledging they received it... not asking our money back, just want them to acknowledge that they addressed the problem... Sad, they lost our business and I heard similar problems from a couple of other people... Sadly, we won't be back... read more

Amazing meal and service at Hangtime. Can't wait to return. I had the Porchetta and it was just heaven, I substituted fries for a side salad and it was recommended to have the avocado ranch dressing and I'm so glad I did, just do delicious. Unfortunately, I was working so did not have a beer but had an unsweetened ice tea and I can tell that it was fresh. Everything I had here I can tell was fresh and made to order. The pork was salty and like nothing I ever had before and I'm not a broccoli rabe fan but the bitterness from the broccoli rabe complimented the saltiness of the pork perfectly! My husband had the steak panini and it was true ribeye steak not shaved!! He enjoyed it. We are looking forward to our next visit when we can enjoy one of the nice cold beers that are known for!! read more

Was in town and stopped for beer and food yesterday. I ate the hanger salad and the pork sliders. OMG! They were so so good. The salad was a lot better than I thought. The sliders were perfect. Wonderful, friendly staff and great beer. It was so good that I'm back tonight and had the garlic park wings. So tender. So big and very delicious. This place rocks!! We've driven past this place more times than we probably realize and have had absolutely no reason not to stop in. Today we were more undecided than usual on what we wanted to eat and literally scrolled through 200 restaurants before it finally hit me to give this place a shot. It's a really cute sports bar with TONS of tvs and a pretty fun menu. They have daily specials listed as well as happy hour bar specials too. The whiskey shrimp we had for an app was sooooooooo comforting and so unexpected! My steak panini was OK, however the fries were some of the BEST I've ever had! They were the perfect thickness and crispness! The man loved his sausage sandwich and from the bite I had it blew my panini out of the water! The drinks were truly what made this place what we would come back to though. Healthy pours for great prices. Hell, the entire menu was so reasonably priced too! My favorite home town bar! It's a nice, clean and warm environment. My girlfriends and I love to go to hangtime to catch up when we're home from college! On my way back home from AC, this was the only nearby restaurant still open at this time of night with outdoor seating so I gave it a try instead of settling for fast food. I was confused if we should just sit down or order inside, but this wine wasted guest yelled out how it works (LOL). I originally came with the intention on ordering the salmon sliders, however I seen a post on here with the blackened salmon and I had to try it. My bf got the BLT salmon sliders (good choice) and the hot-n-honey tails, which didn't taste as well as I expected. My plate (blackened salmon) looked so good until I noticed there was a strand of hair on the salmon . I let my waitress know and she took the plate (didn't apologize either). I was nervous it would take long like it originally did, but it didn't and she said this was because she switched it out with someone else's plate who ordered the same thing. Ate here last night. The food and the atmosphere was great. Our waiter was very observant and polite. For the appetizer we had the crab avocado tostadas, which was different, but very tasteful and light. Then my son had the Salmon BLT Sliders and I had the Sausage Rabe Melt. The only thing I would change is that they need bigger glasses for the sodas. We went through two glasses of root beer almost before the food actually came. I am in town to take a couple days off out of my usual jersey zone, I knew that I would make it down to Absecon at best by 9pm (from leaving work in Hackensack @ 6), so I researched before I drove looking for any place near the hotel that would be open a little later than a normal restaurant, the reviews were sparkling so I went to hangtime. Pretty small space for a sports bar, seems like a conversion from some other space if I had to guess. No greeting at the door, maybe my look screamed "I'm going to the bar", to the right was a small dining room, to the left, the bar. I looked around and figured since this was Friday night I should just grab an open chair, I saw one, one chair free in between .. sweet ! but there was a phone on the counter, so I went elsewhere, split between a couple of couples in a singular chair, fair enough. The place is bland, barely anything of note, and that is fine, everything looked clean, the bar was maybe 30 seats around, it took longer than it should have to notice a new visitor, and then not get a drink right away, just the menu, it seemed like the bartenders did not want to be there, they were not bad, or terrible but definitely going through the motions... the place was not what I would call busy, a few empty seats, some regulars I suppose, it felt .... blah... so I ordered a burger, medium, with fries and american cheese, just a baseline order to see where the place is at on that, and frankly it was already 9:30pm so... I would have loved to sample some apps... but at this point, after 3 hours in the car? nah.. a burger is fine. Got a Goose IPA... damn, clean your tap lines, something was off with it for sure, this was not a crisp tasting IPA (which goose island certainly is), and back to the service for a moment, the bartendress who originally approached me (not that they were serving anyone else) got me a menu, and then after a wait got me a draft.. and then after a wait got my order, and left the menu there, which led to the other bartender (10 minutes later) asking me if I wanted to order something... shoddy man... shoddy... easy to fix and not the worst thing ever but... the effort and enthusiasm was lacking, so, I got my burger, I asked for no onion and got none (cool), basic burger and fries with a steak knife holding the burger top down (but no fork huh?), just fries and a burger... I am down with that, let me address the fries first, excellent, mushy inside, crunch on the out, twice fried I bet and hand cut no doubt, not over seasoned, damn good fries... the burger, a bit more done than I requested but juicy, real juicy, lacked a touch of seasoning but good flavor overall, on a brioche bun that held up as the juices became sluices... so halfway down on my meal I finished the goose IPA and let the glass sit... and sit... look, if the bar was bangin' I can understand delays, but looking at your phone sipping a red bull ? cmon... I waited way too long for a refresh, like I said earlier the bartenders are dialing it in, they aint bad or not pleasant but just going through the motions. So my second beer was Dogfish 60 min... and it was fine, that keg and tap line were clean and that beer hit the mark. Verdict? Seems like a decent place, food was good, service was blah, prices were very fair, the space is ... eh, ok, I guess if you snag a good seat it would be OK for a game.. just OK. I would check it out again and frankly they could fix many things simply imo. read more

Best place to watch the games. Great clean atmosphere and really attentive servers and staff. Not your typical "bar" food but rather a diverse menu with surprisingly good food for being a bar. The hangtime nachos are the best and the grandmas "meatball" is to die for. Its more of a meatloaf than a meatballs but it is stuffed with all kinds of goodies and gooey cheese. I love this place. I have been here a few times. They have the best food. I have had a few different types of wings and burgers and they are awesome. The atmosphere is nice as are the servers.
