I've visited quite a few other crawfish spots and if you're looking for flavorful, perfectly cooked crawfish, this is the place. Their fried seafood is good as well. On my last visit recently they seemed a lil unorganized in the kitchen, but all in all we still had a nice experience. The staff was really pleasant and the food was delish!! I will return soon. Due to the storm I could not go to my favorite LA Crawfish off Gessner so I opted for something closer to home. I was disappointed in crawfish today. The sausage that I order was old because it was brownish on the ends and tasted soggy as if it was freezer burnt. For a 3" link it's 2.99! We ordered medium and it was so hot we could not enjoy it. My husband loves hot but even he said it could not eat it. I'm not sure what they use to add the sweet taste but it almost taste like nutmeg. Not a good aftertaste. So me and the wife decided on trying Hanks since we hear that it's the best for crawfish. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! So we orderd 2 pounds of the Cajun spice since they are the hottest. I will give them thumbs up on the spicy level made me sweat. The bad 9.24 lb!!!!!!!!!!! Very small and soggy and no corn or potatoes those are extra. The bag the crawfish came in was half full of crawfish juice. That probably counted towards are 2 lbs. we also ordered a small bowl of gumbo. The gumbo was ok. The wait staff was friendly and nice but very disorganized. I will not come here for crawfish again. Maybe come back and try some of the other items on the menu one day. A coworker of mine wanted to try some authentic cajun food so we decided to try out this new place which recently opened up. We were seated and served a menu that was laminated. We decided to try the lunch special which ranged from 6-7 bucks a plate. My coworker had the red beans and rice and had the hanks fries rice and fried fish. The food did however take a bit long to come out but it was worth the wait. I tried my coworkers red bean and rice and it was spicy but pretty good. The fried fish were really good and the fried rice was amazing! I will defiantly be back again for lunch. Oh and they also offer free sample of crawfish to new customers and they are out of this world. Never had crawfish like that in my life. This place USED to be good. I ordered 25 boiled shrimp and wings. The wings were fried WAY to hard and the shrimp and corn were bland and tasted rubbery as if they had been boiled for too long. We waited almost half an hour for our food and were greatly disappointed. I told the server that the food wasn't good and she didn't seem to care so I asked for the manager and she just took the shrimp off our ticket but didn't apologize or seem to care that the food was horrible. I would recommend anyone to go to Swamp City or even lotus if you want some good boiled shrimp. I wouldn't come back to this place even if it were free. read more

WARNING: Don't do it! Don't go! This is not a place to look for a great, good or mediocre meal. OMG the place smells upon walking in. I tried a large variety of foods. These are the items I ordered: Large snow crabs; turkey necks, special rice with crawfish, crabmeat and shrimp, hush puppies, chicken wings and rice, catfish-shrimp and rice, a fountain drink and a bottle of beer. Pros: the bottle of beer was great; the staff was friendly. The chicken wings were off the chain, fried to perfection...small portion for the money they charge. The taste of the fish and shrimp was off the chain...good batter on all. The hush puppies were SOOOO GOOD! CONS: the smell got worse despite the attempts of high revolving ceiling fans to shift it around. When you order rice with your meals be prepared to eat a nice domed shaped rice that taste a little old. It was after 5 pm, that may have been the problem. The Turkey Necks tasted like literal poop and was not seasoned. The special rice with the shrimp, crab meat and crawfish will leave you trying to find said crab meat and crawfish. Tables were dirty and dusty. Check your glass with the fountain drinks. Snow crab legs were supposed to be boiled in seasoning and seasoned afterward.....not the case at all. They tasted like they were microwaved with no meat on the main part and seasoned tossed on them afterward and were rubbery. Upon quietly bringing this up to the manager...her response was...."There's nothing I can do....We've already charged you"...there was an attempt to prepare something else...but I didn't risk that. She didn't offer money back and when I asked could she provide a credit so that I could return, she said...we don't do that. Seriously they could have kept my name in a book or something and offered a meal or discount upon return. If I could give this place a zero I would. We came from Katy to 45 and 1960 to wait for 40 mins to not eat. For 2 lbs of crawfish and fried mushrooms I would not think it would take 30 mins. CREDIT/DEBIT CARD USERS BEWARE! Stopped on Friday night for a takeout order and their receptionist indicated their credit card machine took a very large amount of money from my card. Keep in mind I never put in my PIN number or anything. The order was suppose to be $14.02. She the notified the manager (Cassandra) and because this has happened before with their "new" machine Cassandra was very nonchalant regarding the issue saying "oh the money will be there on Monday." I asked for the owner, Steven, to be called and she mentioned he's on the other side of town and too busy. To make a long story short, we called the police and eventually my money was restored by calling my financial institution. I WILL NEVER patronize this place again. Had a twenty minute wait just to get a drink. Later informed restaurant was short staffed. The food came out rapidly quicker and it was dynamite! Flavorful, juicy and HOT and FRESH! First had the mardi gras oysters. Great combination. Oysters, crabmeat and melted cheese over a half shell like a stuffed mushroom cap. Then had the seafood platter with fried catfish, shrimp & oysters. Catfish cooked perfectly. Lightly breaded and fish flaked to perfection. Oysters and shrimp flavorful and juicy. There should be an optional cocktail sauce for the shrimp & oysters. I saw front staff trying to work with a tough situation but organization was something to be desired with the short staff issue. That falls on management. Overall, the owner and the management need to better organize the front of the house to prevent falling in 'the weeds.' If this northside location can solve this, this place will skyrocket because there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the food plus great location! This is my second visit to Hanks. The first time my shrimp basket for 13.99 was very good . Today I got 2 of the same thing. I am very disappointed the rice is not done and has no flavor.
