This place is kind of hidden in a shopping center where you wouldn't expect a restaurant to be located. I was passing by while going to petsmart one day and noticed it. I decided to give them a try one day when I was in the mood for some spicy Cajun food. I tried the fried shrimp with some fried rice. I thought it was a little overpriced but pretty tasty. The next time I went I ordered a couple of lbs of crawfish and some beer. They were not the best, but not bad at all. I love the food here! I eat here about once a week, but tonight I had the crawfish for the first time. The crawfish were really small and overcooked. I ordered them medium hot, but I've learned there's no such thing here...there's just variations between too hot, and hot as hell. But other that, they were well seasoned. About the service, I don't know why every time I come here the wait staff always seems so unorganized...the food takes a long time to prepare, but I guess it's worth the wait. We were looking at a menu on the wall, when a sweet young man came over to hand us menus. He asked if we were dining in or was it for take out? We said dine in, and he showed us to a table. It was about 1:30p and they were still pretty busy. I asked if they served Diet Dr. Pepper? No, but did have unsweetened tea. I asked if he could water it down if it was too strong? He brought me a sample taste. Good tea. Not too strong and a huge red plastic glass with a little, short straw. I ordered a lunch plate with two pieces of catfish and refried rice. The rice is a huge mounded pile of yellow rice with carrots and peas and little tiny shrimp. I do not care for that kind of shrimp, unfortunately. The catfish was delicious, however. Two large pieces of tender, cornmeal, lightly-battered not over seasoned catfish. I could only eat one piece. I gave my son the other because he ordered a huge catfish poboy and he deconstructed it to eat.....don't ask. I knew he would need the other piece for the half of bread he would bring home with him. AND, I was correct. I am sending my husband the left over rice for his lunch tomorrow so nothing went to waste. Tried this location since I was up that way for work, and I have to say the quality was the same as their other location. Flavor (seasoning) was good, and spice level too, but they just didn't seem like fresh, live, crawfish. To me it seems like they are mixing in some fresh ones with the old ones and throwing in a few big bugs to offset all the other small ones. In either case they were not worth the $11.99/lb they are charging, especially when all the other items (turkey neck, sausage, corn, egg, etc.) are charged separately. read more

This restraunt is too over rated. It's really small restrooms are dirty the wait is terrible about 1 hr & 30 minute wait. Once my husband and I were seated we placed our order right away he got hot wing and I got crawfish my crawfish came in at a reasonable time and my husband was still waiting for his wings 20 minutes later the waiter came to tell him the wings will be out in about 10 minutes really 30 minute wait for wings we just told them we didn't want that order of wings anymore it was pretty frustrating as I was eating the crawfish I came across this giant bug It was very disgusting we spoke with the manager and all she said was (well the crawfish do come from bayous) like really lady wow do not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to be eating garbage. So this was my first time trying hanks crawfish . I read the reviews before hand and thought that this was going to be THE spot for Cajun food.... but unfortunately that is incorrect. Now . This is a great place for a person who does not like anything Cajun or spicy . If you don't like spicy food by all means go spend your money here. The crawfish ettoufee tastes like water. They do however give you a reasonable amount of crawfish in the ettoufee. They do give you saltine crackers to eat with the ettoufee but there no need being that once you try it you won't even finish it . The spicy butter sauce ..... taste like warmed up I believe it's not butter. The crawfish fried rice is also very bland. I have attached the food not eaten because it was unbearable . This has to be the worst experience with Hanks EVER. When I entered I see one of the staff members sitting having drinks with the customers. I had to be asked what my order was twice. Like they WERE NOT LIVE CRAWFISH... either dead mixed in with living and/or frozen. They were soft and squishy... and i some just looked ROTTEN. I ate one not really looking and it tasted like it had been dead long before the "boil". Sour... it tasted sour. I WAS SO DONE AFTER THAT. I threw more crawfish away then what i actually ate... there were 5pds uneaten due to the disgust. My husband order spicy wings as well they were really cheap wings because they were littered with gristle and bone where it should have been meat. Extremely small tables youd think more attentive staff to clear the mess as it comes. Nope. and when i asked the waitress if the crawfish was live or frozen she said it was LIVE... I let her know my concerns and she said yeah customers have BEEN MAKING THE SAME COMPLAINTS. So casually... and they are still serving food that is NOT up to par. How despicable?! It literally made my stomach turn.. I've been feeling ill now; stomach is absolutely turned and nauseous. Upon arrival, I experienced about a 20 minute wait .. no worries, I can just sit outside and review the menu. Of course, I wanted everything. I ended up ordering 3lb of crawfish, the Rice, catfish, and shrimp platter, cajun fries, and a limearita (the closest to beer that I can get). Great food! Creole fried rice was very salty the first time I tried it. But they brought me some extra white rice, and it was doable. Crawfish was DELICIOUS and very flavorful. Okra is very good as well as the fried catfish filets. Wasn't too impressed with the customer service as the servers were rude and rushing us, and there were only two other customers in the place (as it was July 4th). It just seems like they want you to hurry up and order and hurry up and get out. Plus just tacky and rude demeanor from the young waitresses. I wouldn't mind going daily to get some crawfish. The roux tasted like watery soup. The flavor tasted nothing like gumbo. The small size shrimp was very disappointing. The same with the etoufee. Baby shrimp was in it and counted about 8 shrimps. The food was too salty! I had the crawfish and chicken wings...about $8/lbs for the crawfish, which is not worth it. The crawfish here is analogous to this: Imagine you had a perfectly seasoned steak that was cooked how you like it, and when you are served your steak, you drown it in salty ketchup or salty hot sauce...you really dont get to enjoy flavor...the salt is overwhelming. Btw, the chicken wings were also too salty, which added to the miserable meal I just had. To each their own, is what I like to say, so if overly salty food is what you like then come here. There is better service and more organization at a snow cone stand than here! A friend recommended this place because it was nearby our home. Upon arrival, the "hostess" and her girlfriend were having an in-depth conversation so my presence was completely ignored. Since I saw the folks I was looking for, I excused myself and walked between the two since neither of them would move. We waited almost 15 mins for someone to acknowledge us. By happenstance, a young lady was cleaning the table behind us so we asked her to help us. She took our order for drinks and since we'd waited so long, we also ordered for dinner. Shortly thereafter, she came back and said there was no ice so did we want a can soda or water in the bottle. What choices did we have? Eat and go thirsty??? When the food arrived the other orders were right, but mine came to me wrong. When I spotted out the issue, it was taken back to kitchen. Not 5 mins later, the former "hostess" came back and asked if I wanted my food served at once or did I want the correct part and wait for the wrong part to be corrected. I asked for it to be served at one time, but little did I know that meant the correct portion would be returned to me after being microwaved.
