The new remodel did not take in consideration their clients, as 95% are seniors, hard chairs not cushions, guess they want u to quickly eat and get out as by that time your rear is killing you. These people are not customer service focused. First issue - They leave customers standing in the doorway while waiting for a table with nobody letting you know how long the wait will be. Second issue - When we asked for a particular table we got attitude about it. Third issue - The food is nothing to brag about and the coffee is the worst! A surprisingly cool building & found that the offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. My grandson did brunch. He had the lox, bagel, capers, tomato slices, onion slices, cream cheese, scramble eggs and hash browns. What a plate full & he ate every bit. The food was solid, no complaints there. The service, though, was a mess. Because they run everything in a POD system, you get a different server every time someone walks by, so you never know who's actually taking care of you--or how you're supposed to get the check. Even walking in, there's zero clarity on whether you seat yourself or wait to be seated. Additionally, the space is stunning, but the acoustics are subpar. With all the wood and no sound absorption, it feels like you're eating food in the middle of a rock concert by AC/DC. A few sound panels would go a long way. About 3 yrs ago before Hanks flooded I went for breakfast, the Belgian waffles I ordered were just awful, not edible, pale, undercooked, absolutely no flavor served with the most cheap artificial tasting syrup, I did not eat them, did not make a fuss as I was out with friends. Later I emailed the restaurant to let them know and got no more then a 'sorry you did not like your meal', no offer of refund or gift card to come and try again. This past week I went again with a friend to see the newly reopened restaurant, we had the same experience. We both ordered the pumpkin pancakes and they were dreadfull, artificial flavor, dense and dry, not eatable, the syrup they offer is the cheapest possible. The coffee is the worst I've had in a long time, and the fruit cup was pale, no taste and obviously out of a can. We could not eat more than a few bites. Our server asked once how everything was, neither of us wanted to complain, this was our first outing together. Before we did leave when she can by again, and our plates were almost full, I did tell her that the pancakes were not very good, she just said 'why did you say everything was ok when I asked before', we should have said something, just did not due to the awkwardness of doing so. She never said she was sorry. When my friend went to pay she said the same to the woman at the register and the woman just said 'oh, no one else has complained'. Neither woman said they were sorry, neither offered a discount or gift card to come again. I'm not sure why Hanks have seemingly been so popular over many yrs and different owners, I have found it to be one of the biggest disappointments for a restaurant. In addition the new building is horrible noisy when busy, they never added any sound buffering in the new building, voices echo terribly, you can barely hear the person across from you. I was so excited to finally visit Hanks, had never been and the new building looks very nice. I had extra time this morning, so thought perfect time to try it out as I was driving past. Stopped in and sat at a 2 tip as I was alone. Someone from the wait staff asked if I wanted coffee and then brought it over with a menu. The restaurant was maybe half full when I arrived at about 830 so not exceeding busy. After scanning the menu spotted what I wanted to order. then I waited and I waited and I waited and I waited. I truly felt like I was invisible not a single wait staff member came over to take my order as I was sitting there for at least 20 to 25 minutes. I didn't feel it was my job to flag somebody down to take my order. I only had a five dollar bill in my wallet so I left it on the table underneath the cup of coffee which was way more than they deserved, and left. This place is so very unorganized, after there was little wait we stood in their front room for 20-30 minutes before getting seated. We were a table of three and go sat at the smallest table they had, mind you we are three grown men. Our waitress came by our table three times in very long increments. The french toast is the size of two hot dog buns and the butter is so incredibly salty which makes it not enjoy able. This place does not deserve the recognition it gets. Also they put their fingers in the glasses which is so incredibly disgusting. There was one man doing everything and the kitchen seems to be so unorganized. Hank's places operating out of a food truck in front of their restaurant. It has limited hours but a great variety of menu items and the staff is sweet as always! The avocado toast came with two giant pieces of toast, avocado, the best pico de gallo I've had, a perfectly fried egg and a spicy sauce on top! It was absolutely delicious. The chicken salad sandwich was packed and hearty with great flavor. The corn muffin was just an added bonus! They even toasted it for me! After speaking with the staff in the food truck they hope their restaurant opens soon but until then the food truck is a great option! Give them a try! read more

I went for breakfast today and was totally unimpressed. The restaurant was about 80% percent filled. Crowded but plenty of open seats. I ordered cream chip beef and a side of scrapple. The wait was about 15 minutes for the food and I had to ask if it was coming up and told is was kind of busy today. I look around and said really? The food came a few minutes later and the cream chip beef had no taste and the scrapple was thin, burnt and didn't even taste like scrapple. I was shocked how bad it was. If anyone from Hank's is reading please try the scrapple yourself and ask would you pay for that. I couldn't even finish it was so bad. I go out to breakfast all the time and made a special trip to try the new Hank's and I will not be back. If you can't get breakfast right I won't even try dinner. read more

Super cute place located right in town. We went on a Sunday morning and we're prepared for a little bit of a wait, and decided to sit at the community table since it was just my husband and I. I really liked how inviting and cozy this little place was! The service was pretty good and very nice. The food menu had lots of yummy choices, I like how they had a lot of salmon choices (lox, omelette, scrambled eggs, etc.) the only thing I wasn't particularly impressed with was the orange juice... it seemed watered down to me, so that was disappointing. This is a solid and fine place to grab breakfast. It has some decent options, the decor gives a no frills feel, there is counter service, outdoor seating, and plenty of parking. If it's crowded, they don't take names but you wait in a line outside. I tried Hank's egg Benedict to see how it compares. Looking over the description now, you can get it on English muffin or biscuit and with Canadian bacon or sausage. The waitress asked none of these questions and it was so covered in sauce I'm not sure what bread it was on. I guess Hank's flair is the chipped beef which was okay but I could take it or leave it. We had coffee, and the waitress gave us the minimum possible amount of cream and sugar needed. That was okay in the sense that when the food was dropped off and I asked for a refill, I never got one, so I guess not having any more creams didn't matter. Would have been nice to have coffee with my meal though. She dropped off the check at the same time and just never came back, so we paid in front. It's a fine option if you are in the area, but nothing really special. It's probably better at a less crowded time, so come early if possible. read more

Visited for breakfast with a party of 4, at the recommendation of a local, on the way out of town to catch a flight home. There was a wait, which was fine as we had good chats with some of the other patrons, and the line of people waiting to get in was a hint that the experience was going to be worth the wait. The gentlemen who was seating folks was quick on his feet getting folks seated and checked on people waiting in line regularly. The vibe inside was super chill, despite being busy there was a hussle about the staff but it did not feel stressful. Love the interior with high ceilings, wood and large spaces. Inside and outside of the restaurant reflected pride... clean, tidy, organized. Once we were seated we were greeted by the server, provided a menu, received water and received coffee in a very timely manner. The restaurant was super busy but we had amazing AMAZING SERVICE! Food was timely, hot and delicious! Our server checked in on us just enough to take care of us but not often enough to be intrusive. Staff regularly came by checking for water and coffee refills and we were well taken care of by other members of staff as well!! I highly recommend this place! We waited right next to her , the owner / hostess check - in. we asked if we would be seated soon. It was clear she knew what our name was because she didn't ask of what's your name , She actually said .... I called your name 2x, obviously knowing our name. we stated she never called our name/ or maybe we didn't hear her but we are standing right next to her station. In fact she walked by us multiple times , including a male host and neither of them said , have you been taken care of or did you not hear I called your name. We are there to eat not watch how they operate. what happened to professional behavior and / or humanity, being kind to your patrons ?? I really sad about this and taken back by her actions and response. Whether she called our name or not, we were made to feel insignificant, therefore, I will encourage everyone I come in contact with to avoid this restuarant. If the owner speaks to customers like this , just asking if we were overlooked, then being treated with such disrespect, what can you expect from this place of business ? She never said oh let me seat you , sorry you were overlooked, I called your name but you must not of heard me. Nothing but eyes rolling and rudeness. This is usually the place that my mom and I go for breakfast. Their menu has decreased in size since the pandemic but they still have good options. I always get a side of home fries and this time I got a garden wrap, which wasn't bad. The only thing I have to say is that it was dripping in grease on the bottom and would make the tortilla very damp by the time I got to the second half. It can sometimes also get overwhelmingly crowded and hard to find parking but that is not their fault. Good restaurant with good food. read more

Hank's serves diner-style food, but a bit little less greasy, they have a good selection on their menu, I order the 10 oz. charbroiled chopped sirloin steak, made with choice lean hamburger and charbroiled to your liking, server with French fries or home fries, the meat patty charbroiled It's a simple burger that just tastes incredible! And their fries have a good taste. The servers, they were very efficient, they were on top of the table with water and coffee. Great breakfast! Friendly, inviting atmosphere with great service on a busy Saturday morning. Get there early or share the community table in the center of the dining room. We each an had omelette with home fries: mine, a Spring special with asparagus, leeks, red pepper. My husband enjoyed the Meat lovers: ham,bacon and sausage. This place set off on Rt 1 halfway between 202 and 52 is one quaint little place with excellent breakfast food. I had the mushroom frittata that was absolutely loaded with local Kennett mushrooms. The side potatoes were cooked and seasoned well. I sat at the counter and everything that passed by me on the way out the kitchen looked absolutely delicious.
