It is on a busy stretch of road, but not impossible to traverse. The staff are mostly friendly, but I have encountered some who were less than friendly. They have a new policy for cancellations that results in a fee, so be warned about that. I have had bad experiences with them -- like simply canceling my appointments and being short with me when I was upset, with responses that were less than helpful in trying to fix the situation. Of course, no compensation for my missed appointment (go figure). The optometrists are generally friendly and knowledgeable, which makes you feel comfortable to be there. They have a good selection of glasses and kind people selling them. All in all, I can't say I am their biggest fan due to the unkind people I have dealt with; however, the rest of the staff are decent. If you need a place to go, you could do worse, but you could also do better.

They would not let me see any choices, only wanted me out of the store  so they could be quick to rush another customer and collect the insurance payment.  They refused to adjust the walker for my height , gave no instructions on how to use it. Besides all this were rude.  Another time, they sent me a months worth of the wrong supplies, and then refused to take them back, even though they were unopened.  So I went a month with no supplies. Because they had billed my insurance, I could not order elsewhere.  Very poor communicators, they just assume they know what you want or need,  and treat people like trash.

I heard my name called off. The front desk receptionist informed me that the eye technician canceled my appointment right on the spot. Didn't give me any reason for it at all. Just canceled it while I was waiting. When I called their website phone number, I got a general switchboard type of operator. I told her from the very beginning I had undergone a successful cataract lens implant procedure on both eyes by a well-respected eye surgeon in Florida. I told her that my existing eye doctor in Portland, ME would not schedule me for a much-needed new eye exam. So, I could get new glasses to pass my eye test and return to work. She told me it would be absolutely no problem at all. We were on the phone for a long-time exchanging insurance card information. I asked her if I could be seen at the Windham location near my home. She explained to me there was an opening next week in Standish ME. I was so happy I was getting what I needed to return to work. I filled out their online intake paperwork. I answered each question accordingly. I also again put a lot of detail into what had been going on with my eyes. These people had two chances to turn me away. The scheduling phone call, and the intake paperwork. So why did they wait until I arrived at my appointment today to cancel it. I would only assume it was because they have appointments being made by someone who doesn't know what they are doing, and they are only reading online paperwork at appointment arrival times. This seems like a pretty sucky way to do business. I spent two hours of my own time and lost a week trying to get a basic eye exam for glasses. I am only trying to return to work, so I can pay money making machines like them. They are so involved with automatic endless text reminders, and operators calling from another country to remind you of your appointment tomorrow. They don't even have a clue of who the new patent is they are seeing. I understand they probably turned me away for some existing liability reasons. What cracks me up about this is that they charge you for a no show appointment fee. Then I show up on time for my first appointment, and they cancel it while I am in the waiting room. Then the so-called technician doesn't have the balls to tell me in person why I even got this far. I didn't get any apology whatsoever. I swear to everyone that reads this, everything I wrote is 100% accurate. I would never recommend Maine optometry to anyone. You simply do not treat anybody like this at all.

The wait time has been minimal (if at all because the providers seem to run on time) and Dr. Liem is super nice, knowledgeable and a good listener making sure my questions are answered. Front desk staff and other support overall are professional and friendly. Our only complaint would be we wish they had even more glasses frames, particularly sunglasses to chose from in-house. I ended up getting mine at the slightly larger Portland location in the old port- something to keep in mind that each location may have a few different options to check out if you don't see what you want at this one. When ordering glasses it took about what they estimated time wise. The glasses are good quality glass lenses and are a bit more expensive than other spots we have been to over the years. All in all I definitely recommend.

They were able to accommodate my appointment change and were super sweet the whole time. This was my first time at this location, I had previously been to the Brighton Ave. spot about 5 years ago, and had a great experience. Then, insurance, life, money, employment, and Zenni optical online gave me a break from scheduling eye appointments... Fast forward to now and I decided a check up might be nice along with some new high quality frames that my insurance would partially pay for. I was worried about finding parking, but I got a spot right in front of the office. BRING CHANGE FOR THE METER. A few things really stood out for me here. First, it was run by all women. My eye doctor, the receptionist, the person who helps you pick out glasses. I love any business where females make up the majority. Second, the layout was simple, there were two rooms off the main entrance, but overall the space was small and well designed. The doctor was thorough and actually found something in one of my retinas that I need to be aware of, so I'm glad I went in. So, tell them Amanda B. I've had glasses for 20 years and lenses have never gotten cloudy. Took them back only to hear the glasses were out of the "2 year warranty with the manufacturer." Not my problem! My relationship was with the Eyes of Rosemont, which sold me the glasses and should have stood behind. Buy no: Glasses were useless and looked weird,. Went to Costco and had a great experience for 1/3 the price.
