Hanna's is great! We had falafal with tahini sauce for an appetizer. It was recommended by Lena our waitress. It was very good. I had vegetarian mousakka which was also very good. Best restaurant in Danbury by far, clearly that's opinion but welcome to Yelp. Food is amazing, fresh, freshly prepared. Stuffed squash is my favorite, Kibbie is a close second. Baba is fresh and the flavor just explodes on your taste buds. The salad dressing is fresh and is exceptional. The food overall is very true to the Med basin, I've not found a meal that I will not try again just like some better than others. Some rank a bit on the pitas, they are from Danbury's own Arabic Bakery, they are fresh by the day, if they are a bit chewy to your liking its because there is no preservatives in them, have the server pop them back in the oven for a few minutes. Problem solved, no worries. Despite the food the best is the family that runs the shop and restaurant, they are among the warmest most attentive you will ever find. My wife and I were both blown away by the amazing food at Hanna's. We had recently relocated from the Chicago area and were lamenting the lack of high-quality Middle Eastern food when someone recommended we try out Hanna's, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The food is both delicious and moderately priced! The Baba Ghanous was the best I have ever had, and the pita bread is light and very tasty. Passing through Danbury on the way to New Hampshire, we stopped at Hanna's for dinner. Service was good as there were only 3 parties in the restaurant. We both ordered the lamb souvlaki platter. The food was adequate. The tzatziki was great and a good counter to the salty lamb. We hadn't been to Hanna's in about 20 years, and were pleased at the improved ambiance. Unfortunately, we arrived happier than we left. For starters, the pita was pretty dreadful, tasting as though it were dumped directly out of a large plastic bag. It was thin and tasteless. The lamb and rice stuffed grape leaves were quite nice, but moussaka showed no evidence of layering, but was piled in an oily mound on the plate. It was gently but nicely seasoned, but served a little too tepid for my taste. I know excess oil is common for this type of food, but I was still sorry to see it, and would not have ordered the dish if I knew what I'd receive. The moujadara was very good, and we located some recipes online so we could make it at home. I was so looking forward to my favorite Middle Eastern dessert, knafeh, but they were out of it. I was so disappointed! Only three desserts on the menu--you'd think they would all be available. So, we just had coffee. I asked our waitress for a refill, and was stunned to find that we were charged for an additional cup. However, we had really decided to come to Hanna's because they carry Haloumi cheese in the attached store at a reasonable price, and fortunately that was available, so all was not lost. But given that this was a birthday lunch (mentioned in passing to the waitress, just out of curiosity to see what would happen), we would have been better off going elsewhere. I am surprised at all the ecstatic reviews, so maybe we came at a bad time. Our waitress was new and inexperienced, which may account for the charge for the coffee, but that's really no excuse. We didn't challenge it, and it was only an extra $2, but it sealed our decision not to come back and try some of the other dishes. read more

I went to Hanna's for the first time today. I had the baked kibbe. Full of flavor, I loved the spices in it. For dessert I had mamool with pistachio and one with dates also baklava and a Turkish coffee. All of the desserts were very good, but the baklava was great, it has a rose water flavor that you don't get at most restaurants. Our server was Michael and he was very friendly. The ghost of my dear Sittoo (grandmother) must have settled in at Hanna's restaurant. :) The flavor, texture, and superb quality of Hanna's dishes are nearly indistinguishable from those created at the hands of my Syrian-born grandmother. The food is *that* good! The stuffed grape leaves are tender and delicate. They are available with or without meat. The fatayer dough in which the meat pies and spinach pies are wrapped is light as a feather. The tabbouli is fresh and perfectly prepared with the proper balance of ingredients. Every dish is delectably seasoned. There are plenty of options for Vegans/Vegetarians. Only the highest quality ingredients are used, many imported from the Middle East. The tahini at Hanna's - available for purchase in the deli - is smooth and subtle, without the "bite" which is present in most other tahinis. The fine quality tahini contributes to Hanna's outstanding hommous and baba ghannouj. I can easily prepare my grandmother's hommous and baba gannouj recipes at home, but Hanna's versions are nearly identical - often better! - So I don't bother and just buy them there. You can purchase ingredients and prepared dishes in the deli next to the restaurant. Be sure to try some homemade baklewa! read more

Hanna's is worth a visit if your in the area and a fan of mideastern food. I was surprised it had limited reviews as it is Zagat rated. I was in the area and the rating caught my eye. Not much else about Hanna's would. Its unobtrusively located in a small strip mall and inside, nothing is exotic or fancy. The important things, food and service,are great. Our waitress was covering eight tables and had no problem keeping all of the balls in the air, as well as being pleasant and helpful. The food was not fancy but was good down home mideastern cuisine. My wife, no fan of fava beans was mopping up the ful with her pita, The lamb stuffed grapeleaves were good and the baba ganoush had an excellent smokey flavor from the roasted eggplant. My only gripe about the menu is that raw kibbeh has to be ordered in advance for larger groups... guess that there aren't a lot of raw lamb fans in Danbury. The wine list is small but reasonable and includes several good Lebaneese wines of good value. Worth a visit. read more

Watch out for the credit card surcharge on the bill. When I complained about it, I was referred to a small sign on the door, mixed in with 5 other decal type notices.
