Our server and helpers were extremely attentive and made sure to check in on us frequently to ensure all of our drinks were refilled quickly and our food came out perfectly. Decided to try Hannah's table this time. Service Lackluster with staff standing around visiting. Ordered fried chicken special. Chicken batter was overcooked and did not adhere to the chicken. Batter was salty. Cornbread dry, Corn texture smuggest it was precooked land had a bad blemish on the cob. No one checked to see how our meal was. Not good all the way around. Surprisingly the freshest and most amazing cobb salad I have had in a very long time. I wondered if it was because I was famished but no, the quality of the ingredients were great. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The service could have been a bit better but in speaking about the food only, it was a pretty darn good salad. I believe this is their "coffee shop," as there is also a buffet and their high end restaurant is called J Paul. There's outdoor seating and the place is neat and clean. I'd like to give more stars, and may give them another try. The restaurant itself had only 3 customers while we were there. Perhaps people are still relating the J Resort to the old Sands were the food was getting pretty iffy. I ordered a Rueben. It came on white bread (should have been rye). The cook or chef apparently did not know how to cut the corned beef, because I ended up with chunks of shredded meat on my sandwich, which was really tough. I had to use a knife and fork to cut in small enough pieces to chew. I probably should have sent it back. However, my daughter ordered chopped brisket over mashed potatoes which was quite tasty. I would give this ZERO stars... The cook refused to soft cook my hashbrowns after I sent them back for being dried out and disgusting and inedible. They sat under the heat lamp too long causing the rubber cement effect because of all the grease he used. When the wonderful waitress came back she said the cook said they'll always be crispy. That is a LIE. I know how to cook in a restaurant. I've managed many. Soft hashbrowns have always been the easiest to make busy or not. What's worse is the cook made soft hashbrowns the day before for the managers request for soft hashbrowns. What's even worse is I got a severe stomach ache... 4 times!!! The Worst part is they didn't even offer me a discount. Nothing. No compensation. That was a $60 breakfast that gave me food poisoning. I don't think I'll be returning there. For any reason. Ever. The food was really good, and the hashbrowns were the best I've had in Reno--crispy, golden, and tasted like fresh potatoes (not frozen). Thursday night, literally no one there. Was still told it was a 10 minute wait. 25 mins later we're still standing around waiting. Hostess wasn't even there. We watched three couples come up to put their names down. They gave up and left after standing around with no one to greet them. Then a group of three who had just finished their meal came up to us on their way out and told us to just leave bc service was the worst. We checked into the J at about 10pm after a very long day of traveling and Hanna's was the only option for a late night meal on site. I was disappointed they didn't have a vegetarian burger option but elected to try the veggie bowl. I didn't have high hopes for a hotel diner but the meal was actually quite good. It was basically a veggie fettuccine situation with faro instead of noodles and was hearty and comforting before bed. The place is a bit pricey but it is convenient. Woke up early and decided to go downstairs at the J resort to grab some food. I didn't expect too much but I thought hey it's close by. I was greeted by a very welcoming staff named Gregory. He made sure if I had any questions and review the menu with me. I went ahead and ordered the veggie scramble. I also ordered fresh orange juice. The veggie scramble was notable because it was so well cooked and included asparagus peppers, and I asked for sour cream on the side so I was able to put that on for a little extra flourish. The orange juice was fresh tasting not too sweet not too bitter just right. It's a very ample breakfast in the bread was exceptional as well nice and thick for wheat bread and they accompany this with a nice French preserve Overall, I have to say this is a place worth going to and people should consider this as it was one of the best diner experiences, I had while I was in Reno. Inconsistent is the best way to describe this place. Service is subpar, and togo is less than mediocre. For example, one day, you order a burger med, and it comes well done. I have learned the best advice here is to use this place for comps. However, never would I suggest this place outside of that with the way it is. Items like salad dressing, condiments, etc. are forgotten all the time. The service and the ambiance were both 5-star as the restaurant was clean, the people working their were pleasant and responsive. The problem was the food. I have never had a more boring Reuben sandwich ever. The meat was flavorless, there was almost no 1,000 island dressing and the bread wasn't very appetizing. Even worse were the fries. While the concept of white and sweet potatoes fries is interesting, the were really soggy and woefully undercooked. While the portions were fine, it really disappointed. I had the shrimp tacos and it's missing flavor pretty bland and when it came, the bottom part of the taco(tortilla) was soggy. Eating at Hanna's Table inside the J Resort was a delight from beginning to end. We parked in the parking garage and took the elevator down to the restaurant floor. The upgraded ventilation system is so efficient that we didn't smell any cigarette smoke at all. The menu had a good variety of options. My Reuben sandwich was perfectly prepared. My friends had the fish tacos and fish and chips. The portions were huge so we all took leftovers home for another lunch. Our server was excellent. She didn't rush us to order.
