Damn. Wow. It was SO good. We got a late reservation and food came out FAST. They did forget our drinks but whatever. Everything tasted AMAZING. We were stuffed but definitely wanted to try a little bit of everything. The udon was the star of the show for us, the broth was above and beyond. The bulgogi had so much flavor. The seafood cakes were super unique. Best Korean I've had in Seattle.

I'm eating my way through East Madison street in Seattle from around the arboretum to Madison Park and Hanok was my first stop. I went two days in a row with friends to try a few different items. This place is great, all of us (4 of us) agree that we'd definitely come back again and again. It's a fairly small restaurant, but they are very accommodating for small parties and try to keep a couple tables open for smaller groups. Groups of 4+ need a reservation. The atmosphere is very quaint and intimate. The people dining next to me leaned over when they saw my food and asked what I got, and that felt very natural (I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time, but it was nice). The service was good. They are kind and welcoming and helpful. Now for the food... first night, my friends and I got the spicy pork bulgogi and (not pictured) the regular bulgogi as an entree, as well as the jeon sampler as an appetizer (which came with a fish and kimchi, as well as a scallion pancake like dish. It was VERY good. I am not super familiar with korean food other than kbbq, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it was excellent. I loved the spicy pork (it will be my go to). The rice, salad, and miso soup were excellent with it as well. Afterward, I felt satisfied but not absolutely stuffed. Night 2, my friend and I got the Japchae with chicken, the pork mandoo, and I got the salt & pepper pork belly. The pork mandoo was really good, one of the better pan fried dumplings I've ever had. I'm a pork belly fiend, and it was good, I enjoyed it, but the spicy pork was much better. I saw other people get the kimchi fried rice and that looked amazing, as well as the bibimbap in the stone (or clay? i can't remember) pot. I'll definitely be back to try those. With both appetizers, I wish there was a little more, but they're starters, they aren't supposed to be huge, so I was ok with it. Overall, it's on the edge of madison park proper, what's not to like about the location? The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is very nice. Highly recommend.

For a Korean restaurant, I was a bit disappointed they did not include side dishes with the meal. Perhaps this is something I am used to getting from other classic Korean restaurants, but as I heard this place was authentically Korean maybe my expectations were too high. The soondubu was watery and did not come with an egg, and only had tofu and pork. I was a bit underwhelmed with the taste. My friends got their other soups (tang) and it looked better but I'm not sure if they were super amazed by it. I got a pork bulgolgi to-go for the next day and I liked how the portions were pretty generous for their meat plates as they came with a side salad, miso soup, and rice. The space is very intimate and quiet, suitable for smaller parties of people. I think it's a good place to visit if you're hungry for Korean food in the neighborhood but overall it was not somewhere that will make me go out of my way to that area of Seattle.

Really liked the ghimmari and tteokbokki! They were even able to do the tteokbokki vegetarian for me! Lots of veggie options on the menu too. The bibimbap was good and my partner liked his bulgogi, but felt the sauce could have been a little more flavorful and mixed. The service was a bit slow but I think it was just one person for all the tables so we didn't mind at all. It's a small and cute little spot in the Madison Park area with indoor and outdoor seating. We would definitely recommend it!

Hanok is an okay Korean spot. The dishes are more individual rather than shareable however the food is good. There's no banchan that accompanies food however staff are really nice. In the summer it can be a little hot as there's no fans or air circulation. Overall, an okay spot but not sure if I'd be back.

Tried this place for the first time to attend a friend's birthday dinner, and it was fantastic! The place is cozy. Definitely make a reservation if you're eating in. Han (one of the owners) served the entire restaurant, including our group of 9, with ease. His wife, Jade, is in the kitchen slinging out amazing dishes! We tried nearly every appetizer as a group and my favorites were the spicy rice cakes (perfect amount of spice and sweet), the cheese corn, and Korean pancakes. Also tried the beef bulgogi (comes with rice, salad, and soup at a very reasonable price). Excellent japchae!! I ordered several glasses of wine and Han was kind enough to make sure I wasn't driving (I wasn't). I returned home safe and pleasantly stuffed! I would highly recommended checking this place out when you're in the mood for Korean food. Great service and food, very reasonable prices, and we felt right at home.

Such a cozy, charming Korean spot in Seattle! We came here as a party of 4 on a Friday night and were seated pretty quickly. I ordered the galbitang which was super good. The broth was rich and the beef really tender and cooked perfectly. Portion sizes were generous and we were stuffed after our meal. We also ordered a few appetizers which were also delicious (especially loved the Fried Ghimmari!). Everything from the food to the plating was impeccable and the staff was incredibly kind. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Really cozy spot near Madison Beach Park! Service was amazing, really appreciated our server's recommendations. Size of portions was also great, although was slightly hoping they might serve some banchan. But if anything, it just allowed us to order more apps!

Great service, great food! Will be coming back for sure! I also echo others, and recommend booking a reservation in advance.

Hanok is very busy and they're trying their best on busy weekends! I wouldn't mind going back, but it's not high on my list: - no banchan - pork belly is thin and doesn't haven't enough flavor on its own - pork katsu is good though!

Absolutely amazing Korean spot. Simple no frills. Tiny shop so make a reservation if you want to dine in. Seems like a lot of folks in the neighborhood do take out here (but then you lose out on the stone bowl as part of your meal!!) The food is absolutely amazing - very classic no frills Korean food. Great prices. If we were closer we'd be getting takeout from here all the time! On a weekend night, they seem to run out of certain things towards closing - so you know you're getting fresh food!

Nice little place to grab a quick bite if you are hankering for some Korean foods in the Madison Park neighborhood. Soon doo boo: I usually get mine spicy with Kim chi. It's a solid SDB. Sort of wish it was a bit more molten hot lava hot and bubbling but it'll do the job and is tasty. I usually get the purple rice as my carb to go with it. Assorted pajeon. I am a sucker for tiny appetizer sized savory pancakes since they come out with nice and crisp on the edges and are perfect snack sized! Fries ghimmari: fried glass noodles wrapped in seaweed. One of my favorite appetizers that is not commonly found on restaurant menus. Sort of like jap chae in as a fried finger food!

We started with a dozen of the shucked oysters, which were perfectly prepared and not overly briny. From there we tried the Bò Lá Lốt and is instantly my new go-to dish whenever I come back. I'd never had it before and now I'm already craving it again. For mains, we ordered the Lemongrass Clay Pot Chicken and the Drunken Chicken. The Lemongrass Chicken had incredible flavor, especially the broth, which was so good it's worth taking home if you don't finish it. The only downside was navigating all the bones. The Drunken Chicken ended up being my favorite main dish. It reminded me of sweet-and-sour chicken, but without the overwhelming sweetness that usually takes over the dish. A quick heads up: definitely make a reservation if you can because this place gets BUSY. We lucked out and snagged the last four seats at the bar. Even with the crowd, the service was friendly, attentive, and the food came out surprisingly fast. Monsoon is one of those places where you immediately start planning what you'll order next time before you've even left the restaurant.

This time, I checked out Chan Seattle, and baby, they left NOTHING on the table. I enjoyed my entire experience from start to finish. When I arrived, there was a sign asking guests to wait for the hostess to be seated. I stood there for about 2-3 minutes, but no one ever came to the hostess stand, so eventually I just seated myself at the bar. ‍ Not a huge deal, but definitely worth noting. Chan is located inside a hotel, and the restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The actual bar only seats about three people, but there's also open-kitchen counter seating with maybe 8-10 seats. I grabbed a seat at the bar with my book, although I mainly ended up listening to a podcast while I ate. Perfect little solo dinner vibe. One thing that made me laugh: the restroom is part of the hotel, so Chan staff actually have to give you a key to access it. Top-flight security over there! Now, THE FOOD. I started with a glass of cava from the happy hour menu and the tuna tartare, topped with avocado, radish, and sunchoke. Both were $10 each. For my meal, I ordered the roasted cauliflower from the happy hour menu for $10 and the small portion of Alaskan black cod from the protein menu. Everything was absolutely delicious, but that tuna tartare?! That was the star of the evening. Fresh, flavorful, and easily the dish I'd order again without even looking at the menu. The service was wonderful too. The bartender seemed a little stiff and rigid when I first sat down, but he eventually warmed up and I got to see his kind and friendly side. He was attentive and offered recommendations, which I always appreciate when I'm trying somewhere for the first time. The regular menu prices are definitely on the higher side, but Chan has $$$ on Yelp, so you know what you're signing up for. That said, the happy hour specials are GREAT and make it easy to try several dishes without running the bill all the way up. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and happy hour, Chan Seattle is absolutely a must-try. I'll definitely be back on a future Seattle visit, and the tuna tartare already has a spot on my repeat-order list!

Service was super friendly and quick. My friend and I shared the pork sliders, brussel sprouts, beef cheek ragu rice cakes, wagyu ssam, and the ginger crème brulee. Everything was so surprisingly yummy. Pork sliders were juicy, flavorful, nice fluffy bun. Good proportion of bun to filling. Brussel sprouts at first were your average well made sprouts, but when we reached the bottom of the dish where the sweet potato puree was, it changed the entire flavor profile of the dish! So good. Maybe better served in a wider bowl so we could appreciate the puree sooner haha Beef cheek ragu was super good too. Flavorful rich sauce and I loved that the rice cakes were extra thick and charred on the outside. Made for the perfect texture: lightly crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Wagyu ssam was great too. Not as standout as the other dishes, but solid steak pieces that were perfectly tender. I think my favorite has to be the ginger crème brûlée. The ginger flavor is light, and the hardened sugar on top tastes like crystallized ginger candy when chewed. The doenjang caramel drizzle balances it out as well. Overall, a fantastic meal. It's definitely on the pricier side, and all the dishes could use a bit less salt, but I will definitely be thinking about that crème brûlée for a long time

Fried oysters, eggplant w garlic sauce, green beans, and mapo tofu were good, but felt a bit overpriced given the quality and quantity. Have had better versions of these dishes elsewhere, but not bad choices here if you need non-meat options. Peking duck was good, and the addition of candied lemon is similar to that of Peony Kitchen. Came with steamed buns, but a bit pricier than PK. Dong po rou also came with steamed buns for sandwiching the meat in. Meat was very tender. I haven't had authentic bo kho (oops), but we thought this tasted quite good! Tender meat and veggies, good flavor, and came with banh for dipping. Squid ink fried rice was pretty good, and came with a thick layer of cheese on top. Couldn't really find the chunks of squid, but was quite tasty. On the pricier side, but worth a visit.
