I have not finished a meal so satisfied and excited in a long time. I would order exactly what I got today for tomorrow's dinner and life would be excellent. Kimchi fried rice with pork: this was the best kimchi fried rice I've had. So flavorful and not overwhelmingly like kimchi flavor. It almost was like the rice had a flavor of its character and the kimchi was a side / ancillary flavor. You can see the rice is not very red like the stereotypical jar kimchi. The kimchi was cooked in a way that really complemented the rice. Salad with calamari: awesome that they separated the calamari and rice in the takeout bag so nothing got soggy. The squid was perfectly fried and not greasy. The salad was simple... mixed greens, carrots, avocado but came with the most amazing dressing and sauce. Bibimbap with spicy chicken: People from Ohio or the Midwest might know Bibibop the fast casual chain where you can make your own bibimbap bowl Chipotle-style. It was an HONOR and a privilege to experience what the Bibibop chain was replicating (and Bibibop does a damn good job I'd say... they have every one of these toppings plus egg, cheese and potato lol to make it more American diet friendly). The Hanok bibimbap just took the Midwest chain to another level...fresh and great mixture of flavor with a perfectly cooked over-medium egg on top. Sooo good. Oh and the dishes come with miso soup which was a nice bonus. Didn't quite taste like miso soup from a Japanese restaurant but couldn't put my finger on the slight variation. Great new Korean spot in Madison Park! I'm so glad there are more and more Korean restaurants moving towards Seattle. We showed up without reservations, and we were quickly greeted. In hindsight, it's a small restaurant, and unless you show up early, I would recommend making reservations. Service was quick and efficient! As for the menu, it has great Korean offerings I'm used to seeing, galbi (kalbi), bibimbop, bulgogi, etc... But while perusing the appetizer menu, I was intrigued by Fried Ghimmari, fried seaweed wrapped glass noodles. We ordered it and it came with a dipping sauce, we really enjoyed it! It was different from anything I've ever had, I would definitely order this again. We also ordered the kimchi trio (Napa cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and daikon kimchi). Although it was good, I am accustomed to having complimentary ban chan rather than as a $5 side, this is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Cute little Korean restaurant in the beautiful Madison Park area. We came in at around 6 p.m. on a Friday night, just the two of us, and were able to sit quickly. The service was extremely attentive and I don't think there was ever a time that we needed to call someone over. We ordered the samgyeopsal and the chicken katsu to share. The presentation was cute, with rice, soup, and salad that comes with every entrée. I was a little bummed that there was no banchan, but it didn't take away from my dining experience. The prices were also fairly reasonable. I see some people saying that the portions were not big enough - I couldn't finish my meal because I ended up being so stuffed! Wow a great new addition to the Madison park scene. At the former location of a pho place, this family run restaurant is awesome. The atmosphere is casual and family friendly with the husband cheerfully running the front of the house while his wife prepares amazing home cooked Korean food. The space is compact but there plenty of seats by the window and its tastefully decorated as well. They do make deliveries so that's a good option if you are local. We've been here a few times and have loved the grilled pork belly (Sam gyro sal). It's sliced and sizzling hot when you get it. The seasoning is perfectly done and not too salty. The rice is delicious as well. And the miso soup and house soup is good too. The shrimp tempura udon was also excellent with a nice flavor and the shrimp were crunchy and delicious. The Soon Doo Boo with kimchi and pork was really large and really nice and spicy. Perfect on a rainy day like today. The bulgogi was terrific nice spice and the beef was. Perfectly cooked. The bibimbap was also a great dish. We loved the egg and the purple rice. A nice flavor balance. During lunch and dinners it can get busy so just be prepared for a short wait. My husband got the spicy pork bibimbop and it was very filling with a good variety of ingredients all seemed good quality. Run, don't walk to Hanok! This place has outstanding food: we got their fried rice cakes, japchae and bulgogi. All were so well balanced... the rice cakes spicy sweet sauce was a flavor I wanted to come back to. Their japchae was steaming hot and all vegetables were cooked to perfection while the chicken held its juicyness - that, coupled with the soft noodles tossed in sesame oil, made this one of my favorites. The bulgogi bowl was great too, from the purple rice and sauce to the meat and fresh veggies. My absolute favorite part about this establishment is the owner. This place has a cozy, family-run vibe. This may mean there isn't always seating available, but we went on a Saturday night at dinner time and a table cleared up in about 15 minutes. There was one server running everything but he was very nice and considerate, and the food came out without too much delay. The food was also great--the yukgaejang was perfect for warming up on a chilly night, and there isn't too much green onion like in some other recipes. I wish there was banchan (side dishes) to go with it, but it looks like the grilled meat dishes like samgyeopsal (pork belly, also really good btw) come with salad and miso soup. I've had spicy rice cakes from several places, but Hanok's flavor is probably my favorite so far. It has a good balance between sweet and spicy, and if you're worried that it might be too spicy for you, the mozzarella cheese helps! Fried food is a must to go with the dukbokki, so I decided to get the fried ghimmari, which is a fried seaweed roll with glass noodles wrapped within. We are fans pretty much if everything and Han can advise you if it's your first foray into Korean cuisine. 5/5 for me because I can say that coming here since some time not long after they opened, we have always experienced excellent service and consistently delicious Korean food. *some challenges of meeting everyone's needs when everyone comes all at once but he handles it with grace and speeds around to take good care of all. They can do takeout but I'd suggest eating in or outside weather permitting if you feel safer. The crispiness or perfect doneness of certain dishes just doesn't do as well under takeout conditions. Some favorites: Pork katsu, bibimbap (regular or dol sot), salt and pepper salmon, kalbi, Jeon sampler (fun crispy pancakes - appetizer), yukgaejang (slightly spicy glass noodle beef soup- superb for clearing out your sinuses. We enjoyed having a birthday celebration for 6 at Hanok on a Friday night. It's a casual, cozy spot so we felt lucky to have a larger table (reservations encouraged). The food was excellent and nicely presented, and service was attentive even though the dining room was full. The proprietor spent quite a bit of time with us explaining and recommending dishes for our group which included two nine-year-olds doing a Korean culture research project. Every dish we had was exceptional from the Pork Bibimbap and Korean pancakes to the veggie Japchae glass noodles (my personal favorite), Pork Mandoo dumplings (another favorite) and the Kimchi trio (the cucumber kimchi was a winner). This is a go to place for me. The service from Han is always excellent and attentive, and the tiny restaurant makes things feel cozy and personal. My boyfriend and I particularly enjoy the ttoekboki here, which is a wonderful combo of sweet and spicy. As for dinner, I would highly recommend the dolsot bibimbap, which I've had several times and always comes hot enough to get some good crispy rice bits at the bottom. Because this restaurant is small, I'd recommend you come here in groups of four or less, but definitely check it out. It's worth your time for some solid Korean comfort food. read more

I've tried a few things on the menu: Yookgaejang - Not my favorite. It was on the saltier side, especially towards the end where the seasoning kind of settled to the bottom. I had to dilute the broth a bit in order to finish it. Jjampong Udon - This was my favorite dish! I love the texture of the udon and the seasoning of the broth was perfect; not too salty or too bland. A few of the dishes were ok but some were terrible. I have had quite a bit of Korean food in both LA and Korea. Unfortunately this place does not hit the bar. The japchae was pretty good although weird that it was served piping hot. I have only ever had it warm or cold. The kimchi jeon were good but could have been crispier. The pork was ok but nothing special. The spicy rice cake was just a really poor rendition. I will always order this dish when I see it because I love it so much. Done well it will make you cry from the heat but you won't stop eating because the flavor is so good. This version lacked all the nuance and heat that makes it such a favorite. The kimchi fried rice was pretty bad. Again another classic that I love. Similar problem here. It lacked heat and didn't have any depth of flavor. It mostly tasted like someone dumped a bunch of soy sauce on rice and mixed in some kimchi. The service was slow because they only had one person covering all the tables. I wish they offered banchan. No banchan offered with the dish we ordered (stone bibimbap). Strange considering others posted photos with kimchi style radish. Maybe it's entree specific. If your looking for a traditional hot stone bibimbap this isn't the place. Probably won't come back as it wasn't what I was looking for. Maybe someone else's cup of tea. Just my two cents. Over the last year, I've hit up Hanok quite a few times. It's in my hood, so it's convenient. It's also tasty when I don't feel like cooking, and affordable when I don't feel like shelling out a bunch of cash for a third party delivery. I often get either the bimbimbap or the beef bulgogi on its own. Both are very tasty. The meat is sliced thin and has a sweet and tangy flavor. The only thing I miss about pre-COVID was the hotpot bowl for the bibimbap. The rice on the bottom was always a bit crunchy from that slight char that cannot be replicated in a to-go box. This is definitely more of a fusion restaurant than a pure Korean restaurant. The employees are Korean though as I discovered with my Korean friend. I tried the pork belly and the spicy seafood. It is convenient that everything is served to be individual meals, but I really enjoy eating things family style. Each meal comes with purple rice (I believe there's an option for white), soup, and salad. The food came out sizzling hot in the pan and was well seasoned. The salad was dressed with a light sesame dressing that was also very tasty. Overall, the meal didn't seem very heavy. Probably should have read more reviews before going, fusion is about right. I thought with a name like 'Han-ok' which is a traditional Korean style house that this would be traditional (or a little more so) Korean food. So if you are looking for Korean food this isn't it. There are no side dishes and they served my dish with a salad and Miso soup. My grilled chicken was ok, but strikingly pretty much Teriyaki. My wife had the Spicy chicken which was essentially gochu-jang with something else mixed in we couldn't quite figure out. Maybe curry? That combined with us driving around the block several time trying to find it, which I admit was more my fault. It is very stealthy and hard to see with almost no parking. This is my boyfriend and I's new favorite Korean spot (and honestly a favorite restaurant in general) in Seattle! It's located in a really quiet and nice area of Madison Park. It's close enough to the water that you can walk a few blocks to digest after dinner, then hit a bar. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, we've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be sat at a table, even on a weekend night. The service is so sweet, attentive, and friendly. My boyfriend and I always order the tteokbokki (and add cheese) as an appetizer. The sauce isn't as thick as most tteokbokki dishes, but I actually prefer it the way Hanok does it . . . and the sauce is soooo good I wanna lick the plate. We also split an order of corn cheese which comes in this little sizzling cast iron skillet so the edges of the cheese get a little crispy, it's so good. I always get the spicy pork belly and dip it in the corn cheese. The meat entrees come with a little bowl of purple rice, miso soup, and a salad. At first I was bummed that there is no banchan, but honestly everything's so filling that I don't think I'd be able to stomach more side dishes anyway. My boyfriend always gets the sundubu which comes in a huge bowl and he always struggles to finish it. If you want to add a drink to your dinner, try the plum sake. We just discovered this place like last week and have already been here 3 times, it's so good. We're struggling to control our Hanok urges lol so it's a good thing it's a bit of a drive from our house or I'd go bankrupt. Me and my gf wanted some good korean food but it was rush hour and we was STARVING.. so I had to find a place quick. We looked on yelp to see if there was any good korean food within the vicinity of our location and stumbled upon Hanok. I've never heard of this place and I've never been in the area but it was moving away from the commotion at 5pm weekday in downtown Seattle so, why not. As soon as we walked in, we were seated right away. The waiter was super smiley and giving off good vibes and very attentive too. We ordered the bibimbap. It was definitely on the more expensive side but it was delicious. It was more savory and flavorful than a lot of the other bibimbap's I've had. The service was relatively quick too! Everything about this place was spectacular except for one thing.. the BANCHAN was not complimentary. I was a little disappointed about this because one of the most exciting things about korean restaurants for me is the banchan. Ended up paying 5$ for a kimchi trio which honestly was just.. generic. Three adults happily shared and finished almost all of delicious and some of the best-ever pork dumplings and seaweed salad, for starters. For lunch, bibimbap with beef and mild, homemade sauce, which came in a hot stoneware bowl that crisped the rice, and miso soup, all fabulous, served one and some to share. We other two shared unspicy (our choice), flavorful sliced pork galbi with grilled onions that came with a small side salad and miso soup, and had some to share. Priced very fairly. Please go! Good - a little cozy Korean restaurant out of no where. - the service is decent Bad - the food was ok at best and not exactly authentic Korean dishes to my standard. - the dishes didn't have clear identity and very blend Ugly - they do not provide any ghimchi. You have to pay around $5 dollars to get a dish called "ghimchi trio". However it was bad. Really bad. This is a place I would not recommend if you want some good Korean dishes. It has all the makeups of good korean restaurant but lacks in flavors. I'll give another try down the road however. read more

Very nice small family run restaurant in Seattle. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere with insane food! Their bimbimbap is really flavorful especially with fresh kimchi ontop. The bimbinbap has an array of vegetables, rice and protein. The best bite is when the the hot pot the dish comes in crisps up the rice on the bottom of the pot.
