In the mood for some Chinese food. The restaurant wasn't busy, so we were seated right away and attended to by the staff. Pretty typical Chinese type decor. Tables and booths. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce, brown rice, added on soup and an egg roll for a slight upcharge. My husband ordered shrimp with snow peas in a brown sauce. If I had known it would be so heavy on the green peppers, I would've ordered something different, but it did have good flavor. My husband's dish seemed to have much more shrimp than mine. I stopped by here while in the area. Ordered orange chicken with added side of spring roll and egg drop soup. Everything tasted fresh, soup and spring roll were a tad crunchier than I prefer. This dish deserves 5 stars The beef dish and the seafood dish I got was kind of disappointing. Stopped by for dinner with wife. She got hot Jasmine Tea and I had ice water. We ordered the Appetizer Sampler with 2 Egg Rolls, two Chicken Satay, Fried Shrimp and Crab Rangoon. For main dishes we got the Cashew Chicken and order of Mongolian Beef. Everything was nice and hot and very tasty. I really enjoyed the HOT Chinese Mustard which was very hot (lol). This is by far the best Asian restaurant that we have experienced in the Fountain Hills/Scottsdale area. The quality and quantity of their dishes is above and beyond anyone else in the area. Their entire staff is very attentive and courteous. My wife loves their Kung pow chicken, and I order the Happy Family almost every time we visit. You know their food is outstanding just by witnessing the amount of takeout that goes through the door. It's unbelievable however we definitely enjoy our sitdown meals each and every time. Another visit- we brought my daughter with us this time. The service was friendly and prompt. We had Honey walnut shrimp, fried rice, kung pao chicken and Mongolian style beef. We enjoyed the shrimp and chicken dishes. The beef dish was not very good, the beef quality was lacking/it had a hint of a fishy taste. We always love the fried rice. The soups are still a bit bland- we could tell they added my goodies & flavor to hot & sour...but, still needs a bit more sour. Lynch specials ($5.99-9.99) include routing roll, soup, rice & drink, the more expensive choices add appetizer. Plenty of seating, clean & comfortable. Service is good but ya know, not a lot of pleasantries or conversation, just business. Very quick food service, hot & fresh! The hot & spicy soup is good, spring roll very good & the pepper beef with fried rice is ok. Pepper beef was loaded with onions(more than anything else), but they were just crunchy enough, the peppers were good n crunchy & hot (temp), the beef was moist a little mushy but ok & sparse, the spicy sauce was very good (4/10 on a hot scale). The waitress was quick & attentive to everyone's needs, keeping tea filled & promptly returning after I asked for crunchy noodles for the soup. For $6.99 lunch special I am very happy & will keep this place in mind when I work out here. read more

Pleasant lunch stop. The prices were reasonable, good service, and they have their lunch specials on the weekend. The orange chicken was good and the kung pao chicken was odd, no peanuts. If you didn't know what you ordered it was fine and tasted good. I went here for lunch one day. The only thing I tried were the chicken skewers but they were too rubbery for my liking. The flavor on them was decent though. The location is right on the main street in fountain hills down from the fountain so it is easy to find. read more

Honestly, these guys deserve less than 1 star. I placed a $75 order and the only passable items were the edamame and pork fried rice, and those were marginal at best - a person who hates cooking could could make these two items to a similar quality. I started with the Crab Rangoon (cream puffs), golden pastry with a tangy cream cheese inside and some, what I assume are raw onion chunks. I ate them, I regret that choice. The lo mein was garbage - mediocre shrimp, uninspiring chicken, and something I assume is beef, in a dull pale brown shade I've never seen. That plus veggies were piled on a bed of unincorporated noodles. Mongolian beef - one bite and I stopped eating. Same weirdly tan "beef" mixed with over cooked green onions and regular onions. Instead of the delectable brown sauce basically EVERY other restaurant has, this was dry, sitting in a pool of a yellow tinged...oil? No clue, wasn't going to find out. Wife ordered beef and snow peas - you guessed it, same weird beef. She took one bite, spit it out. She also got pot stickers - took one bite and said "super doughy" and didn't touch them again. I don't dare try them. So, for $75 I got $10 of marginal food. I'm not one to leave shitty reviews like this, but honestly these guys have no business staying open. It's sad to say that I went to this restaurant last night and ordered the Hong Kong Noodles with Chicken. It came with a side of steamed white rice. I paid almost 16.00 for this meal.In the main container the container was not even filled up with food not even halfway. The food was NOT hot. The white rice was steaming hot though. We feel so ripped off. This was my third time going to this establishment. The very first time I ordered Chicken Fried Rice. The rice was hard and old and I brought that up the second time to one of the women who works there and she denied it got offended and shut the conversation down. We are BIG on supporting local businesses and are loyal customers. I do feel like there should be a refund because it was barely food in the container especially for 16.00. You can tell the food was spread out as they didn't put a lot of food in the container at all. I knew if we went back last night it would have been them getting defensive and upset so I didn't. But moving forward, we won't be returning to this establishment again, especially with it being so many great places that serve great quality food. A lot of these post about the not so good quality (rubbery chicken) are exactly right and on point. We literally live 1 minute away , from now on we will stop being lazy and go the extra miles to Scottsdale. They are super skimpy with their food. Scale 1-10 we give it a 2 1/2 Sorry guys! read more

This is decent food at a good price. They have one thing the other Chinese restaurant in town doesn't have, and that's a steamed BBQ Pork bun as an appetizer. This is also the only Chinese restaurant in the whole area allowing patrons to dine in. The others in Scottsdale and the other one in Fountain Hills are pick up or delivery only. read more

First time I've been to this restaurant. Looks inviting. My 'ToGo' order, Wor Won Ton Noodle soup was ready for pickup at the time specified. The person behind the counter was friendly and attentive. When I got home, the soup was still piping hot. The wontons where good, but I've had better. They still tasted good. The broth was flavorful which came with little amount of greens, some carrot slices, 4 shrimp that were fresh and not sure how Many wontons. The noodles were cooked just right, it reminded me of the noodles in Campbell's chicken/beef noodle soups. Plan on trying their sit down menu in the near future . read more

I've passed by it a hundred time since I've moved to Fountain Hills and from the outside it always looks empty and frankly not so inviting. After being burned by so many over priced and uninspired Fountain Hills restaurants we were very wary to eat here especially since the reviews weren't so glowing but we were feeling very adventurous so we decided to give it a try. Right when we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly Chinese lady and seated right away. My hubby and I were pleasantly shocked because the restaurant was decorated nicely inside, very clean and the booths were in good condition. We just wanted decent Chinese food and didn't want to have to drive to 25-30 minutes into Scottsdale to Phoenix to get it so we figured we'd try one of their lunch specials. We both got the bargain lunch price for the Kung Pao Chicken that was $8.99. This special came with 2 cream cheese puffs, a nice egg roll, hot and sour soup, a drink and the main entree which consisted of the Kung Pao and fried rice. Everything from the soup to the entree came out hot and quickly and our waitress was very orderly in keeping our food rolling out. As far as the taste of the food, it was good enough for us to come back and try other things on the menu. It wasn't anything extraordinary as much as it satisfied our taste buds. My only thing that I believe that could be improved was the amount of chicken and peanuts actually in the entree. I'm not a big fan of an entree drowning in water chestnuts and bell peppers and having to hunt for the chicken. If you're looking for reasonably priced Chinese lunch special, good service and a clean establishment this so far fits the bill. read more

I have ate in a lot of Chinese Cuisines and was often disappointed. The Kung Pao Chicken and the Pork fried rice I got was amazing, it smelled good, tasted great, and the service was awesome as well. After so many years of loving Hao (originally Haha China), I received a takeout order that was AWFUL. The beef and pea pods appeared to be 'near beef'. It was mushy, not recognizable as meat. My favorite has always been beef and pea pods in Asian restaurants. You get beef and pea pods in a brown sauce, with a side of rice. Tonight I got very little mushy brown stuff (beef?) some pea pods and a few small carrot spears many bean sprouts. All vegetables were very soft, nothing like stir fry. I ordered 2egg rolls which were good and I had them for dinner as I threw the entree away. If these owners read the review, I'd appreciate a call (I leave a phone number at the time of ordering). So this restaurant is where Ha Ha China used to be. In walking in, the decor is very nice and everyone was fairly friendly. I was a little disappointed with the menu, however. Pretty much all of the Chinese/Asian Fusion restaurants I have been to have a vegetarian section of their menu. Not so at Hao. They have a section for beef, chicken, seafood, noodles, and rice. I was able to order an item off of the beef menu and substitute tofu for the beef, which was nice. I ordered spicy tofu with peppers. The sauce had a really nice flavor to it and it came out hot and not over cooked. The service was ok. We ordered an appetizer that we never received but other than that, it was pretty good.
