Sad Coconut shrimp- was good but I think each deep fried piece contains only half a shrimp. Too pricey for the value. Fried tofu - nothing special. Stir fried Pork w/ Basils - not bad. I was surprised to see the place so empty. We were the only ones there in the middle of the afternoon. The food was good, but drinks were overpriced. I was surprised they didn't offer any sort of happy hour either which might explain why they were completely empty in the middle of what it would normally be happy hour time. I visited this Thai sushi restaurant once before and gave it five stars because the food was delicious and offered a unique variety. I did not mention that I found a small hair in my food, thinking it was a one-off. Today, I went back, and unfortunately, I found another hair in my sushi roll. My friend and I brought it to our server's attention quietly and respectfully. She was sweet and apologetic. I asked that she please let the chef know this was the second time this had happened when I was there. I was surprised that the manager did not come to speak with us directly. Instead, the server returned a few minutes later and said she was asked to ask me to show her the hair. I told her I had already moved it off my plate and didn't know where it was as it was another small black hair. She was sweet, but I don't think she felt prepared as to how to handle that. She left and moments later returned with the bill. Not only were we charged for everything including the roll with the hair, but we were also charged an upcharge for a modification that was less expensive than the original option, which was not disclosed beforehand. Perhaps a coincidence but less than 30 minutes of returning home, I felt nauseous and got sick. I really wanted to love this place and hate to put in a negative review, but I'm disappointed with the repeat experience and that nothing was done to address our concerns. I searched high and low all day for a good Thai food place because it seems hard to come by in Arizona...this was for sure a hole in the wall place because it's kind of hidden in a plaza that doesn't have much activity but then again it's a Sunday so who knows how it is during the week. Service was great, it's a family owned business and they're attentive. I ordered take out; pad Thai with shrimp, crab Rangoon, and eel nigri. Everything was great, flavors on point. I do have to say the pad Thai was a little dry but the flavor was good so I'm not complaining. Crab Rangoon was mainly cream cheese and little crab meat...the sauce that it came with was rather garlicky than sweet. Eel nigri was good too. Very quiet on a Sunday evening. We were one of four tables dining. We shared crab rangoon,2 pieces of unagi nigiri, tom kha khai soup with chicken and finally basil chicken fried rice. The crab rangoon could have been hotter however the purses were nicely formed and the wonton wrapper was nicely fried and crisp at the edges. The sweet chili sauce was as usual for most places a tad too sweet for us. The tom kha kai soup was excellent with just the right amount of creamy coconut milk (not overly rich) with mild galangal flavor and pieces of tender chicken. A small soup was plenty for two of us. The unagi was moist and tender although the nigiri rice was way too soft and fell apart as eating each piece. The basil chicken fried rice needed a lot more chicken however the tenderness and moistness of the rice and the overall flavor of the dish was fantastic- just enough garlic and sweet onion pieces. They have signature drinks and several wines by the glass - more than one would expect at an Asian restaurant. Service was very good with several people leaving plates, filling water etc. We will definitely return perhaps for their lunch special after hiking to get pad sie ewe which looks great on other reviews! read more

Love this spot. It's honestly great to be able to choose between sushi or Thai food. And it's REALLY good. One of the few spots we can find massamen curry dish (sorry if I didn't spell that right) it's soooooooo good. I also got the lunch special $10 for a small portion of the chicken basil dish which includes Miso soup and a small salad. It was all amazing. Even the featured Chardonnay. I mean the food and service is really good here. I only knocked one star because it's expensive. Everything is really expensive lately though. So glad we found this spot! One of the top spots around Scottsdale. Nothing fancy but their food is delicious. Fresh ingredients that will leave a tasty flavor in your mouth. Highly recommend their Power roll that has spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber topped with eel salmon, spicy mayo, green onion, masago. The Drunken noodles are good too - sauteed wide rice noodle, bell pepper, onion, thai basil leaves in chili and garlic sauce. We love their Pineapple shrimp curry - jumbo shrimp, red curry past, bell pepper, pineapple and onion in coconut milk...pork gyoza is a good starter or their Tom ka soup. Lot's pf parking all around. Location not inspiring. Behind a tire shop in a strip mall. That's the only detraction from this place! Nice, simple decor, clean and inviting. Seated immediately by friendly young lady, and ordered. Wife had her usual teriyaki chicken, and liked it. Crab Rangoon, puffs or whatever, were delicious. Fried dumplings were excellent, as well. I had a bowl of tom kha soup with shrimp. I would have liked a gallon of it! I then had a sushi combo, Starlite, I think. Everything was fresh and delicious, nicely presented. This is a very friendly local type of place. This location is only a short drive from the Mayo Clinic which was super convenient since I was at the hotel nearby. They have plenty of parking and it's super easy to get to. The service was good, the place filled up fast and the servers were friendly and helpful despite being super busy. It was clean, well decorated and had good spaces between the tables. Food was quick to arrive and everything tasted as expected - the fish was fresh and I loved how hot the wasabi was :) This appears to be a hidden gem, I'll for sure be back next time I'm in town! read more

Update: we've come here now consistently and the food just gets better and better. Tonight we had the massaman curry and teriyaki beef along with A Khao Tai Roll. Usually we don't eat sushi away from the coast but this place is magnificent. The quality is superb. Presentation is perfect and the flavor is out of this world. The curry - Sublime. The teriyaki beef was the best we've ever had. At other places you may experience salty or chewy beef. This teriyaki- prepared in house, was light yet savory. The beef was soft and very flavorful on its own. It was a truly different experience and now a new favorite for my wife. Don't wait - this is where you need to eat tonight! read more

I've been here a few times, and unfortunately it's been overall underwhelming. I can only speak for the curry dishes, of which I've tried the mussaman and green curry. The mussaman was solid - not amazing, but solid. I'd give it an 8/10. Price for the mussaman for dinner was on the higher side though at over $20 after tax. I also had the green curry lunch special at $13. The value was good, but the curry itself lacked any complexity or flavor, such as Thai basil. It also only had two pieces of eggplant with tough, chewy skin, and no other vegetables except bamboo shoots. The spring roll and gyoza were good though. I'd give the green curry 6/10. In my experience, the curry just doesn't stand out compared to other restaurants around. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

We ordered and picked it up. The cucumber salad was weird as it was sliced cucumbers with black sesame seeds and nothing else...no dressing. That was definitely a thumbs down. I had the fried rice and that was good. Also had the Pad Seen Ew and it was just okay and had the Khao Fried Rice and thought it was excellent! Great curry sauce, but if you want veggies in it you have to add for $2 each or you just get meat soup. I ordered online and thought the $2 each was for 'more'...nope its for any. So the price is $40 for the veggie add. That is for a one person take out, plus tip of course. $23 is already high price, can't you add a few veggies and some basil?? read more

Stopped by here for dinner on Sunday night. Ordered 3 different rolls to share: 911, khao, and the yellow fin roll. Each roll was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the Khao roll the most, and I liked that the 911 roll was not too spicy with the jalapeño. However the price of the speciality roll at $17-18/roll is a bit overpriced. Lastly, we ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert. I was very disappointed as this was the first time I was presented with the mango still in tact on the plate. Everywhere else I've been before had the mango deconstructed on top of the rice, and the rice had coconut milk messed in. Ordered $75 of takeout. No wasabi, no soy sauce, no chop sticks. Called them to express my frustration. Worker at the restaurant agreed this was not correct, owner said that wasabi, soy sauce, and chop sticks should be extra charges.
