If you're looking for good pseudo-Chinese food fast, this is the place. I'd recommend getting it to go - Haoway doesn't have much going for it in the way of ambience, and it's pretty crowded even when it isn't full. At lunch (when there's often a line out the door), your best (and cheapest) bet is the lunch special where you choose from the steam table. Ordering something that isn't on the steam table will take a very, very long time when they're busy. The sesame chicken and firecracker chicken are generally good bets. For dinner, I'd recommend the beef and broccoli - the normal size is usually enough for me to have two meals, and it reheats well. read more

I kind of want to give this more than 3 stars because it is decent, fast, inexpensive (lunch for 2, $11) and the people are sweet but overall Haoway doesn't quite warrant a 4 star.. I got vegetable lo mein and it hit the spot. Lots of fresh veggies and not too salty. However, the wonton soup and vegetarian egg roll were just ok. I would have appreciated actual egg rolls, not fried spring rolls. My husband got kung pao chicken (against my warning - never order meat at Chinese place that is in a strip mall) and was disappointed. He didn't like that there were virtually no green peppers and the chicken texture was a bit suspect. He did like the amount of spiciness, however and he enjoyed the sweet and sour soup. read more

Great fast-food Chinese. Very friendly, attentive service - each time I've been there it has been the same gal taking orders and working the register. The cheapest option is to go with the steam table choices for the day, but I always go for one of the lunch entrees. It takes a bit longer, but I usually hang out and have the soup while I'm waiting and then take the rest to-go. Also, you can get a little bit of a healthier lunch by opting for steamed rice or getting the sauce on the side. I agree that the interior has zero ambiance, but if I'm just ducking in for a quick lunch break, it does the trick. They stack copies of the Boulder Weekly or the Westword to read. read more

I'm sort of a vagabond, traveling from one place to the next, spending a couple months, then moving on. One thing I look for in each spot is an old fashioned Chinese cafe. Serving the classics, made fresh, at I-don't-feel-gouged prices. In Boulder, this is the place. Beef and broccoli was perfect: crispy-sweet broccoli and tender beef, not a piece of which was non-chewable. Tasty gravy-type sauce was not watery. Menu pricing provided online are 15-20% less than those charged. Various webpages contain their menu however none I could find are anywhere near up to date with the prices charged. When asked they claim I must have been looking at the lunch prices and that the menu prices I was looking at online were 10 years old. Thus, they are aware of this issue yet are not fixing it. The food simply put was horrible. My fiancée got the chicken and broccoli and it smelled and tasted like literal sewage. My sweet and sour chicken was bad as well. The chicken was good but the sauce was awful. The rice was super salty as well. All in all I'm only out $20 but if you want to be happy with your food don't eat here. read more

Easily my favorite american-style chinese in Boulder. The food is always delicious, and usually cooked around the time you order. I've only ever done take-out or dine in, so I'm not sure how their delivery service is... But I've only ever had the best of experiences here. The only reason is gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because it takes a little longer than other chinese restaurants in the area (though it is much higher quality). Haoway is the realest, friends. Walked in here and immediately felt the authenticity of little Chinese restaurants in China -- common, family-owned, small "hole in the wall" (that are actually everywhere), just enough seating, with delicious food. Not fancy, not trying to be anything it's not -- humble. My favorite kind of restaurant. To be clear, the menu here is definitely Americanized Chinese food and not what would usually be on offer in China, but it's all tasty and very reasonably priced. Portion sizes are generous. They don't give out fortune cookies either, so you know this place is legit. Not that I usually mention this, but their rice is always perfectly fluffy and cooked well. Again, it's a lot like being back in China. For these reasons, I wish I could eat here everyday -- Haoway has all the makings of becoming your neighborhood go-to takeout joint. The only thing I have not really liked so far is the lo mein -- the noodles are more than adequate, it just didn't strike the same chord as all of their other dishes. We're huge fans of every tofu or chicken dish, but anything sesame, Hunan, or Szechuan is our favorite. read more

Haoway is pretty okay for when we want Chinese but don't feel like driving to Table Mesa from NoBo. We normally get egg rolls, dumplings, garlic chicken pork lo mein - all of which are perfectly fine. Everything we've had has been tasty but standard. As long as you don't have your hopes up, you won't be disappointed. Service and delivery are both fast, which is really convenient. I've even stopped in before doing some shopping at King Soopers and it's been ready for pickup when I'm finished. There's absolutely no ambiance, so it's best to get your food to go. read more

Great local family-run business with great prices for good food. Don't expect the best chinese food you've ever had. I've been coming here for years and the quality is consistent, though. As previous reviewers say, you get what you pay for. It's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall type place that hasn't been updated in decades and could sure use a clean. I personally like these types of establishments because it's what allows them to sell their food for so cheap. If you get their lunch special later in the afternoon, the food will have been sitting for a while and won't be particularly good. But considering they have one of the cheapest lunch specials in town I can't hold that against them. I always wish they answered the phone by saying "Hao Way I help you?", even though that might encourage inappropriate Asian stereotypes. read more

I tried this place out for the first time last night. I ordered a number of different items. I agree with other reviewers, it was not expensive. However, none of it was anything I'd ever order again. That place is in need of a few things, one of which is a thorough cleaning. If I'd seen the inside before I'd ordered...I would not have. The woman at the front counter was nice and the order was made quickly but the food is SO salty and odd tasting I can't eat it. I got the veggie fried rice which looked promising with big pieces of veggies but they taste like they were boiled. The tufo in black bean sauce with so salty with an odd burnt flavor. I think this place is a gem in Boulder. The food is good, and the people who work there are really sweet. They're generally pretty fast, even in lunch crowds. And their lunch specials are pretty sweet. My only complaints are that sometimes they close for lunch without notice, and sometimes they don't feel super prepared with more food after a rush. Firecracker chicken was gelatinous, overly breaded and barely warm. Noodles, cold and flavorless. day 22 the search for rice so i came here cuz i needed to go to the market and this was right next door. this place was like a mom and pop version of panda express. ala carte chinese food. i wanted the one item but cuz i got half and half they didn't allow it. and the food, all rubber and gross. first time on my trip i didn't finish my meal. its actually a pretty busy place too. i know theres better chinese food around here and so thats why i won't give it an extra star for exoticism. its just gross. the inside is tiny and it looks dirty, which in some chinese places makes it taste better. but not at ala carte. this proves my point how good panda express is. don't compare it to nice sit down chinese restaurants you damn yelp foodie fools. compare it to what it is. chinese ala carte fast food. and i've had a lot of these and panda by far is the rolls royce of them all. come on are you gonna compare carl's jr to some texas bbq place or compare it to like mcdonalds and other fast food burger spots. this place pales. panda will always have a place in my heart... read more

While there are undoubtedly better "hole-in-the-wall" Chinese restaurants around, I absolutely LOVE this place. For myself, it's one of those places I try for the first time and I'm finished. Lots of people probably won't agree, but that doesn't really matter to me. This is MY review. Mine. All mine. We order from this small restaurant often. The prices are just fine, generally a bit less expensive than other take-out or dine-in (if you dare) strip-mall eateries. It has the typical older Asian woman running the show (I don't think she ever truly leaves the joint) with her child/children doing homework in a table off to the side. The rest of her adult-aged family busily works in the back to feed the masses. She always readily greets her customers with a smile and immediately gets to work on the order. While I don't regularly order lunch, I frequently order dinner for my partner and a friend or two - our bill is routinely around $60. It's so worth it. The sesame chicken is fantastic, the steamed chicken potstickers work out well, the egg rolls (both veggies and meat) are just fine and the numerous other entrees never disappoint. The only gripe would be the crab cheese wontons. I wish they filled them a bit more; the texture is always perfect - nice and crispy - but there never seems to be quite enough tasty filling. The one main thing I've noted about this place is its consistency. We've been ordering from Haoway for years and everything always tastes the same each and every time - perfect. read more

Hao Way is an interesting little Chinese food restaurant right in the King Soopers shopping centre on the corner of 30th & Arapahoe. I do really enjoy their food and usually order it when I can afford to get some nicely done chicken fried rice (that is one of those foods I have a thing for).
