I was very excited to find a location for this restaurant in North Phoenix, much closer than the one I go to down in Mesa at the Mekong Plaza. Ordered some house fried rice, which is my favorite. I love their dumplings, but I was not in the mood for them today. Will definitely be back to this establishment at this location on Union Hills. One thing that was a little odd is I sat down and waited longer than I would've expected to place an order. There's a QR code on the table to place your order and I'm not sure if that's the only way they expect you to do it or if they were just being a little slow today.

I love the soup dumplings here, they're always flavorful and satisfying. The beef noodle soup is also excellent, warm, comforting, and perfect for any day. This location is very clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating, making it a great place to dine in. Service is fast, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that keeps me coming back.

They have a bright menu with a lot of pictures. Chill vibes. Pokémon was on, they have a big tv with it on. No idea if that's what they always play bc I wasn't fully watching. Food was pretty decent. We bought a spread so we could taste different things. The seafood xiao long bao was decent. Mild flavor, thin wrapper. They have a vinegary xiao long bao sauce on the table to accompany it. It tastes even better with it. It's not overly salty, which is always good. Kiddo ordered Lu Ro Fan and hated it. I tried it, it was fine. She just wasn't a fan of the textures but said flavor wise it was fine. You get a good size portion of food, there's a lot of flavors. I actually liked it and would eat it again. The only thing I thought could improve was having a softer boiled egg. It was fully hard boiled, just shy of getting the gray color on the yolk. Service was okay. Nothing to complain about, nothing special. You order from a QR code at the table. The dumplings were very mid. The wrappers were so thick. I think I'm extra particular because when I make mine I like thinner wrappers. Filling was okay, not that flavorful. On the table they have a dumpling sauce as well. We also ordered the Sheng Jian Bao combo. They were okay. Mild in flavor. Not bad but needed something flavor wise to step it up. Would I come back? Yes, there's still other things I want to try.

So happy they have one now closer to my house. Everything on the menu looked fantastic, it was hard to choose. We went with the classic Xiao Long Bao and wow I will be craving these. The Signature Dumplings were cooked perfect with great flavor. The Pork Wonton Noodle was so refreshing and such a simple dish that wasn't heavy. Dan Dan Noodle was little spicy for me but my husband loved it, but it was still a great flavor. We definitely had a great lunch and plenty leftovers. Our server was very helpful and explained the options. Such an unassuming place and small but the food is great!

I read all the reviews on Yelp and decided to stop in. I love pho and thought this would be similar but I think it's more Chinese focused. I could be wrong as I am still learning the difference between the cuisines. The service was fast and attentive when we arrived. I ordered the spicy beef soup and some spring rolls. The spring rolls were good and the soup was spicy. I think there were different parts of the beef in the soup which through me off. I became squeamish seeing the tripe and tendons. It's listed as spicy beef soup and it doesn't mention the different types of meat in it. I tried to eat around it but it was most of the meat. I ate the spring rolls and took the rest home to not be rude and waste the food there. The flavor was there but the meat was a no for me. Overall, if you like this type of food I think you would enjoy it.

My family and I are visiting Arizona and we were looking for a good Chinese food restaurant to try. Happy Bao came up on my Uber Eats and I saw that it had an amazing rating on Yelp. The food was sure enough delicious! I loved everything we ordered. Next time we come out, we will definitely try more on the menu.

Went here yesterday for a quick workweek lunch. It was tasty and fast service. The inside was clean and presentable. My boyfriend has the beef chow fun and it's not pictured but he approved and was a very generous proportion. I had the shrimp chow fun which was very good. Seasoning was perfect. You have to order it vegetarian style and then add shrimp. It is $6.00 extra for 4 shrimp but I was okay with because of my temporary pescatarian diet. We also had the vegetarian bao buns with the toasted sesame seeds and wow! It surprising good especially for being the vegetarian option. Flavor was spot on and texture was good. Taro bao buns of course were winners! You gotta try them. We would definitely come back.

Tried this place at their new location for the first time and i was impressed. The pork ribs were so tender and flavorful, the soup dumplings were delicious! I did think the dough was too much for the meat ratio but still yummy. The chicken spicy wontons were not my favorite. The dough was way too thick. Fried rice was mediocre, nothing special. The noodles were so yummy and flavorful. The service was excellent and the place was so nice!

I have been to the Mesa location many times. First time to try this location. Big parking lot. The place was clean but man it is on the smaller side (they may need a big space soon). We got the Hong Kong Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun, Xiao Long Boa, and Pan Fried Boas!! The Beef Chow Fun that is legit (with work-breath (hei)). The pan fried Boas were so good but incredible filling. The dumpling skin on the xiao long boa, I was not a fan (it is not the same as the ones in Mesa). The service was friendly and fast.

Friendly service, good food at a reasonable price. What more do you need? This place is nice, new and clean. Our group had a variety of things. Roujiamo, Pork & Chicken Bao, Lu Rou Fan and the Dumpling Combo. and it was all very good. The baos take a bit of time since they're made from scratch and to order. They are worth the wait. The chicken ones were my favorite. Someone in my group was disappointed because there wasn't a large sauce selection, but I was fine with the ones they had. This place is going to need a larger space! What a delightful find when searching for a place to have dinner. The new, clean space is located in the same parking lot as Asiana Market. Dined here on their Grand Opening! Guess they worked out the bugs during their soft opening as service was friendly and efficient! Of course I had to order the XLB and it did not disappoint!!! This alone gets a Yummos rating! The thin skinned dumpling had a very abundant amount of soup. I like putting my XLB in my soup spoon to avoid losing the soup. I was very impressed as each XLB did not break! The only negative is that I prefer the red XLB sauce, but that is just my personal preference. I was told the beef noodle soup (#21) was very tasty with a lot of noodles, beef tendon and baby bok choy. Would order both items again. I want to try the Roujiamo (#20) if I am ever in the area as it is a dish I have never tried. Visit during Happy Bao's grand opening and maybe you can score some giveaways. Okay, this was our first time here. We decided to try this place to celebrate Lunar New year. We had dumplings and noodles. Food came out hot and fat. Service is prompt and friendly. The place was small and clean. The only thing that was annoying was the bell that constantly rang when an order was ready.

I was so excited to try this place. It was the 2nd night open. There was a wait list that they ignored. Place is small and tables were crowded. Once we got seated it started out good - until I got what was supposed to be my seafood soup dumplings. They brought me chicken..."corrected it" and brought me chicken again. Both times treated me like I was lying about it - even though the picture of the chicken on the menu was the same as what I got both times. Thank goodness it wasnt the other way around - people with seafood allergies beware. The other food we got was good. I might go back to another location to try again.

We decided to place an order online because we live a bit far from the place and then when we get there it adds another 30 minutes on top of what we already wait by driving to the place which was 20 minutes so we went to a store in the plaza to kill some time then we decided to go check up on the food and turns out it was ready the whole time so it had just been sitting on the counter getting cold when we got home and unboxed the food the beef fried was was burn the chill dumpling barely had any sauce and we also had ordered extra chilly oil on the side and didn't get it we have gone to the one in Mesa several time and this hasn't happened I would say if you could go to the one in Mesa if you can read more

I have been to the one in Mesa, really grateful to have one on the west side now too. This one has more seating, and we were able to be serviced quickly. The food quality is the same at both which is great! We'll be back for sure. Also love that it's right by Asiana Market and DQ. I tried a spicy pork dish - no joke on the spice and it was very good, even had cilantro to my surprise. Also tried a dessert bao and I really enjoyed it, not overly sweet and it's hard to describe what it exactly tastes like, but it had a gentle custard taste. TRY THE SOUP DUMPLINGS - so refreshing with a delicious taste. read more

Amazing experience, 10/10! We absolutely loved the Xiao Long Bao and the Beef Chow Fun. We topped each soup dumpling with XLB sauce, ginger, and chili oil- delicious!!! I went to Happy Bao's in Glendale for first time 1/12/26. The staff, especially Joy, was very welcoming and good with explanations. I got the Beef Chow Fun and Combo Baos. All was delicious! We ordered a variety of dishes from appetizers to main entrees. All were served piping hot and each was flavored deliciously different. The inside of the establishment was very clean and the servers all spoke English, so it was easy to ask questions. We have returned 2x since our first visit in August. read more

My wife's steak was cooked to perfection but did taste extremely salty - we did make a comment both to the server and in the on-site review requested by the table side payment app. I would recommend anyone ordering their steaks to be sure to request that they go lighter on the salt. Other than that everything was perfect. My wife had the carrot cake dessert, of which I also had a taste, and we both highly recommend it. Service was also attentive and courteous as was our greeting by the maitre d'. There are so many tempting menu offerings that we will definitely need to be making multiple return visits despite the distance, as we are Northeast Valley residents. I would love to see an additional Cheddars open closer to our home.

This was our first time here and it was such a nice surprise. Cozy spot, good food, good drinks, and friendly service. We'll definitely come back to try more.

The server seemed baffled and was going to leave my husband with his meal that was drenched in Ketchup even after he asked her what would have caused the bottle to explode like that. I finally asked him if he was comfortable eating the food and she then offered to have it remade. Now the food: Burger (after being remade) was average. Chicken tenders were average. Mac and cheese and baked beans were not good. The positives: Loaded potato peels were delicious. Would definitely recommend those. Server kept my husband's soda refilled. The lady doing the bingo games was awesome. She played good music and had a good vibe with everyone in the room. I think (hope?) they were severely understaffed, hence the extreme wait times for service and food. All in all it took 2 full hours from when we got there to the time we were able to get our bill paid and leave. I cannot imagine wanting to return here unfortunately. The other patrons seemed to be having a good time with the bingo host as well. It seems this place does attract regulars but most seemed to just be drinking beer and eating onion rings. Maybe that's the way to go!

I really wanted to like Happy Bao because I love finding local spots that can compete with bigger names like Din Tai Fung, but this place just didn't do it for me. In my opinion, it's overpriced for the quality and experience. The xiao long bao was just okay -- nothing memorable. The spicy dumplings were super doughy, and the chili oil had almost no flavor besides heat. I kept expecting more depth and richness, but it was basically just spicy without the savory flavor you'd want. The beef noodle soup was actually pretty good and had a generous amount of beef, and honestly the house fried rice was probably the best thing we ordered. The ordering process was also a little awkward. You order through a QR code, then someone comes over to verify the order before it's placed. Paying at the end took way too long too -- we were sitting there waiting forever just to pay the bill. Overall, I'd honestly rather just go to Din Tai Fung. I always root for local spots or good "dupes" of popular places, but this one felt mediocre across the board. I stopped by Happy Baos in Glendale the other day and just went with takeout instead of eating there. It was around 1 pm, a few tables were filled, but not too busy. Right by the door they've got this self-order kiosk for to-go orders, which was super easy and convenient. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the Fu Qi Fei Pian, and my food was ready in under 10 minutes, not bad at all. Honestly, this Glendale spot feels so much nicer than the Mesa one. It's bigger, brighter, and just has a more comfortable vibe overall. Food-wise, the Dan Dan noodles were solid. Flavor was good, portion size was fair, I'd totally get that again. The Fu Qi Fei Pian though, same as Mesa's, way too salty. Like, almost funny how consistent they are with that dish. I was hoping this location would do it differently, but nope, same deal. Overall, I'd come back to Glendale for sure, since the space is so much nicer, but I'll stick to the Dan Dan noodles and maybe try something else instead of the Fu Qi Fei Pian. read more

Happy Baos on Union Hills is seriously one of my favorite spots now. The baos were soft, fresh, and packed with flavor. Everything came out hot and tasted amazing. The vibe inside was chill, clean, and the staff was super friendly the whole time. You can tell they actually care about the food and service.
