I again was going for some boba and for some coincidence there was a donut shop next to it. Is this a San Jose requirement? I'm sure it's pure coincidence. But that won't stop me from getting an apple fritter to try and indeed, I did get one. In short, the apple fritter was a tiny more in cost than the last one I tried and it was so sweet that I was bouncing off the walls. There's a bunch of parking that's pretty busy as there's a laundromat and other stores and restaurants that seem to have a lot of patrons. I did find a spot pretty near to the place. I N S I D E It was very bright and very well stocked in terms of donuts. There were a couple of tables inside and a group of men hanging and chilling around which was cute. I T E M S / M E N U They do have other items besides donuts like coffee and sandwiches. But I was there for one thing. An apple fritter. Generally I would see barely anything left by the time I go into any kind of donut shop. But they basically had everything! They also had cronut holes alongside your normal donut holes. Although I was tempted to buy more than an apple fritter, I stuck to just that one item. It was relatively flat and it looked very glazed and crisp. It was definitely crispy and a bit moist too. The apples felt like they were soaked or even secondarily coated with sugar and cinnamon which may contribute to the excessive sweetness of this apple fritter. It basically hits you like a brick. That's the only flavor profile you get is cinnamon and super sweet. They do have plenty of apple chunks. Just way too darn sweet for me. So if you have a sweet tooth, this is the apple fritter for you. S E R V I C E Service was so great! The person who helped me was so happy and definitely made my day. I came here the day after Christmas (a Friday) and it was open. I ordered a Thai tea ($5.95) and it tasted good. It is similar to the Thai teas that you would get at any restaurant. Since I got there around 3pm, I expected there to be almost no more donuts, but was pleasantly surprised to see the case full of donuts. I'll definitely come back for a cronut one day. read more

Happy Donut, you have been redeemed... so much so that I went two days in a row and considered going for a third. Why? Their Vietnamese Coffee has a stronghold on me. It's tastes exactly like the Kopiko brand coffee candy - if you know, you know. The hint of butterscotch flavor with a bold coffee taste. It's not overly sweet either. Also I'm happy to report that they DO have French crullers. On my last review I wrote about my disappointment of not seeing French crullers on my first visit. Not only did they have French Crullers, but Happy Donut has all the floavrs: glazed, vanilla cream, chocolate, etc. I got the good ol' glazed one, and it was exactly how I wanted them to be. We'd been wanting to try Happy Donut for a while, but every time we were in the plaza it was closed--probably because we usually stop by at night. Haven't been here since 2019 no longer Kingsberry Donuts now under a new management and quite a change from the previous ownership. Came by on a Monday morning greeted very warmly by the staff. It was quite cold since I chose French vanilla coffee large size $4.30 extremely reasonable and two twist donuts. The only drawback are their hours though they're open seven days a week so that's a real plus not to mention for those early birds for a quick cup of coffee and bagels. I have been here a couple times now-with coworkers and with family. We have tried their cronuts-amazing both filled and non filled-we now get these every time! Their breakfast sandwiches are soooo good-my favorite is a #4-sausage, egg, cheese and jalepeno's on a cheese/jalapeño bagel-no mayo. Out of all the different bagel-donut shops I have been to, theirs is by far my favorite! Coworkers have tried their other breakfast sandwiches and they agree they are really good! Tried the custard donut holes, cronut holes, and regular glazed donut holes and they were all good. The breakfast sandwiches were excellent. Well seasoned and generous with the meat. Tried the thai tea and it was pretty sweet. My friend asked for her Vietnamese iced coffee less sweet and they obliged. One thing to note is we had to buy water, but you can bring your own too. They don't have a huge selection of donuts, but they have breakfast sandwiches too, along with muffins and croissants. I got their chocolate old fashioned- I liked it! Tasty, not too sweet. This place has the best croissant breakfast sandwiches ever. The #9 croissant sausage and cheese with egg is worth every penny. The cheese is melted to perfection and they give you two sausage patties instead of one so that every bite will be full of scrumptious meat. I always opt the egg out because I feel as if it takes away from the saltiness in the sandwich. The only downfall is that when they run out of croissants, they can't make the sandwich anymore. One time, my sweet hubby brought home a croissant with sausage, egg and cheese. I had a bite and I was so hooked that I made him buy me one the next day for breakfast! Everything in the croissant was satisfying to me, that if I had more cash with me that day, I would've bought another one! Sadly, this place is cash only. I'm not a fan of cash only because I don't carry cash all the time, so it's a huge bothersome for me. The hot dog was about 5-6 inches long, which was warm and just about average; like how a normal hot dog should taste. The donut holes were salivating, not too sugary or oily. I thought it was just fine. Honestly, I would like to come back to this place, and get my hands on the croissant with sausage, egg, and cheese once again, and also sample the rest of their breakfast sandwiches. I preordered 8 dozen donuts the day prior for business meetings. I asked them where they were located and additional information (clearly I haven't been there before). Well I made the wrong assumption thinking that a business in 2017 would have a credit card machine. They didn't have one and they didn't mention to me that they were cash only, over the phone. The tab was just under $80 and to me, good customer service, someone would give advance notice to customer, stating they are a cash only facility. I get there in the AM and I find out they don't take plastic. They pointed me to a bloody ATM machine inside their shop. Well that would be ok in normal circumstances... but when you are using a company credit card it's useless. Luckily for me I had just enough to buy half my order to get my first meeting fed with some sugar.... Never the less they were not accommodating in the situation. To me, not taking credit and having a ATM machine is just a scam (my opinion). I haven't not seen a donut shop that doesn't take plastic these days... damn roach coaches take plastic! Most will charge you $.50 cent or a small fee which I'm ok with and justified for small businesses.
