I used to frequent the Fremont Happy Lemon location with my sister so often, it felt like we might as well move to that area. So when we found out that this Happy Lemon location was opening up we almost lost our minds. We were so happy! This location is clean, open, and has lots of parking (since it's located within the Greenhouse Marketplace right next to the 99 Cent Store). As you may already be aware from other Yelpers or word-of-mouth, Happy Lemon is best known for their salted cheese drinks! Now here me out if you're new to the salted cheese craze, I know it sounds a little weird - but it's delicious (not for everyone, but totes ma goats delicious to me)! Try it at least once and share it with a friend if you're a wee bit nervous! My go to drinks are the salted cheese black milk tea or if I want a little less caffeien I opt for the green tea vesion. Now if I don't want caffeine at all I've started to order the slushy drinks! The lemon one is super tart and refreshing, but if you don't want something that'll make your lips pucker - maybe stray away from this beverage. ALSO, if you're ordering a salted cheese drink to-go and you want to save it for that special someone (AKA YOURSELF IN THE MORNING OR LATER THAT DAY, lol jk) you can also ask them to separate the salted cheese from the drink for you so that it won't collide with your tea. My wife, sister-in-law and I were excited to find that a happy lemon had opened closer to our house. We saw a coming soon for this shop several months back and finally decided to come check it out as we frequent this plaza. The shop is pretty big and very clean as well. We ordered the passion fruit green tea with crystal boba and the drink was very refreshing as expected. We took advantage of the gift card that they were selling around Black Friday and with their drinks usually being very affordable, we'll definitely be coming back. The staff really do help you adjust the sugar levels compared to other boba shops and they're in general pretty friendly. The shop itself has screens so you can monitor when your drink is available for pickup as well as the staff do announce numbers pretty loudly. Just be aware that parking may suck at times during peak hours as they are close by to a dim sum restaurant as well as right next to a 99 cent store that gets tons of traffic. read more

Paid and was told to wait by the pick up counter. 20 minutes passed by and everyone who came in and ordered after me was gone. I finally asked what happened to my order. After our dinner, we walked around and found this boba place across the shopping mall, so we decided to give it a try. Not too many people on Saturday at 7:30pm, so no line, and we got our order pretty quick. We ordered green tea with salty cheese (A1) and boba milk tea (D1). Our drinks were made just right. This happy lemon is good. Pretty standard I think. What strikes me when entering though is the smell of the egg waffles being made. SO SWEET. I usually get the same thing here. Either boba milk tea w/ puff cream or a jasmine green tea salted cheese. What I love about happy lemon though is that their boba is always cooked well. It's never nasty, soft, hours old boba. I enjoy Happy Lemon but the last couple of visits, I have not left "Happy". My experiences here have been sour and more on the "Lemon" side of things. A few weeks back, I called to ask a general question and before even I could even say hello I was greeted with a confusing female voice aggressively saying "we cannot take phone orders only walk-ins right now". I understand that you don't take phone orders after 8:30pm but that's not what I called for, let me get one word in! I simply wanted to know if they were indeed still open. Strike 1 Today I came in and decided I wanted to try something different than my usual A8. I asked for their D10 but with regular boba. I was told "we don't make substitutions!". I asked for more details, only to get the same cold answer. Then as I am waiting for my drink, someone orders a D10 and they are able to add regular boba. Upon asking for an explanation, I was told I can add not substitute. Why wasn't that option given? No where on their menu does it say "no substitutions". Strike 2 Then, while I am in the store, the phone rang and the same female employee answered the call in the same manner as I was talked to a few weeks back. YAY BOBA PLACES IN SL! glad to see more boba places in east bay. I got the A2 which is black tea with salt cheese and the Oreo milk tea. The Oreo milk tea was whatever in my opinion, I wish I had more Oreo chunks. But the black tea with salt cheese was great. Never had salt cheese before but it surprisingly worked well! The salt cheese makes a simple tea nice and creamy. The location looks clean and very vibrant. I can definitely see it as a hangout place after covid settles down and indoor dining is allowed again. Yay!!! Finally happy lemon is in San Leandro! So my friends and I came here for the grand opening event (BOGO!!!) of course we were expecting a wait I would say approximately 45mins to a hour. Which in my opinion isn't too bad. I ordered two green tea salted cheese, mango match smoothie, and a milk tea salted cheese. My friends got a green tea salted cheese and a yakult smoothie(I believe) I'm not sure if happy lemon all has the same menu, but i never knew that they can't make the mango matcha smoothing large. I wonder why...?? This location has the best cheese crema. I'm not sure why but we all compared and had happy lemon from other locations and it didn't taste nearly as good as the one that just opened up here in San Leandro. This specific location opened recently so be aware that there might be a long line. I've been to a couple of other locations and I always end up getting the Black Tea with Salted Cheese and Mango Lemon Slushy. They are both bomb! Definitely worth a try. Like the other locations, this one is also decorated very well. They have a monitor that shows where in the process your order is, which is pretty cool. I've carefully watched the cashier take cash from customers, touch their point-of-sale tablet (that earlier customers have to touch to sign and select a tip option), and make your drinks with the SAME gloves! I'm a healthcare worker and you wouldn't like me to use the same old glove on all of my patients right?? Nope! New glove for new patient - always! It was a hot day last Saturday and we just needed some cold drinks, so we decided to visit this Happy Lemon store no. 1507! The store was pretty spacious. Thanks to that, I felt pretty comfortable since it allowed us to social distance pretty well. I got my regular boba milk tea with 25% sugar, and the drink was good and consistent with what I'd typically get from other Happy Lemon stores. I like and really appreciate consistency from a franchise :) The boba was fresh and chewy, and the drink was creamy and delicious. I'd say the only bad comment I had was the service was just a tad slow. I saw some drinks that were made and ready, but they were just sitting on their counter. I'd love to see the staff immediately call out the order numbers so those drinks could be picked up by the customers, but maybe they were just busy and a bit overwhelmed cause they were pretty busy when I was there. Oh, and the parking lot here was in my honest opinion a bit messy. I could smell pot from where we parked, I dunno, it was kinda iffy. Prices about $4 - $6 dollar for tea. Not a bad price at all. My go to drink is always passion fruit green tea. But I felt like I had to order something lemon. Love the passion fruit tea, but the lemon is a no way I will order again. The lemon tea taste like lemon rind and the tea taste is way too strong. The initial sip is lemon tea, then the tea hits you very strong, then the after taste of the rind. Very strange taste. I was excited to see a Happy Lemon around here since I'm familiar with one of their locations in San Jose. However, my husband and I's experience with this location wasn't as satisfying. With this place being a new boba shop, I knew the line would be long.. which wasn't an issue. The only issue was that the layout itself was impractical. In most boba shops, you're able to look at the menu, while waiting in line. Unfortunately, the menu for this location is impossible to see while waiting in line (as pictured below). I also noticed this place having a weird stench... I'm sorry, but the place really smelled like an old gym bag, which may push customers away. When you're like the second person in line, you can finally see the menu.. and only really have a few minutes to order what you want. Luckily, my husband and I decided what we wanted through the Happy Lemon website........ but wait, the specialty drinks they have on website don't seem to correlate with the physical location..? Just note that the website and physical location rarely match.. weird. We both ordered large drinks with extra toppings for an additional price, but they cheaped out on what we paid additional for.. what a disappointment. :/ I was worried this place would end up closing the ShareTea located in the same plaza, but I prefer ShareTea over Happy Lemon. read more

Been to a few happy lemons around the bay area. This one popped up just recently so I decided to drop by. This Happy Lemon is by far the slowest to make their drinks. I would even say they are immensely slow when compaired to the other Happy lemons around the bay. I'm guessing it's due to the fact they are still new. Maybe in a few weeks they will be cranking them out. I'll drop by again to find out. Tea wise, they are okay. They taste the same as all the other happy lemons that I have been to. Hence the 3 stars. I wasn't a particularly happy lemon after having Happy Lemon. Lemons are usually drawn as happy, bright objects though given their yellow color. Maybe I am a sad pickled onion. Pickled objects seem like they might be sad, right? (You know that feeling at work when you get work dumped on you at 5pm? Yeah that's me right now.) Here goes the matcha + other flavors story for me again...I always try them and then I always feel like it's not matcha-y enough. Drink had a weirdly sludgy mouthfeel from the sugary mango pulp that I didn't like. Or was the sludginess from the powderiness of the matcha? The mango was very fragrant and in the nose, which I liked. Little mango bits were nice. I didn't get much of the matcha flavor except that maybe it cut down the sweetness of mango. If you concentrated super hard, maybe a little tiny bit of matcha here and there, but it was really difficult to get. Boba was not pre-soaked in sugar (why don't more places do this) and I found the innards of the boba to be too hard. The size of the boba was also slightly too small-- a bit hard to bite onto. They were quite generous with the amount of boba though. read more
