I had a very bad experience with the staff who named: Katherine today. Very rude, mean and unprofessional customer service. I used to order at this store very often and everyone here are so nice and sweet. I always make a big order for my whole department. Today I am just getting a pearl milk tea for myself. Came for the BOGO grand opening, waited maybe 25 minutes in line and another 15 minutes for our drinks. Pleasantly surprised the salted cheese and tea goes very well. I tried my family's drinks, the lemon mango yakault was very lemony but it's smooth. The lemon honey green tea tastes so good, like straight up lemonade. The lemon mango slushy was also very tasty. Quarantine and COVID19 times :) It is very spacious so you don't have to stand outside and wait for your order but they also have specific areas to stand to wait for your orders to be ready. I come here pretty often whenever I'm close to the area. I always go for their signature milk teas with salted cheese sometimes I go for other options with no salted cheese and I tried their boba cake, I'm not a cake lover and the cake itself is good. I was actually surprised it fits in nice and snug on the cup trays. That's convenient. If you happen to get those plastic cups with the lid on top (not the flimsy plastic you stab on with the straw), make sure you close the little opening before you go out and set it down on your cup holders in your car just so the beverage doesn't spill and make a mess. read more

This location is OK, the Newark one is better. Their drinks and especially boba are a hit or miss from here. I've had overly mushy boba and also hard boba here. Their drinks are... OK, nothing really special I guess. I usually get a matcha mango smoothie which sometimes has no matcha flavor. Or, I get the strawberry green tea which is just too sweet even though I ask for less sweet. The reason for taking off 3 stars, as someone also mentioned they have unsanitary practices. I've definitely watched the cashier take cash from customers and not change the gloves and continue to make drinks. Especially during this time, it's a little... concerning, to say the least. In addition, they charged 10¢ for a bag. Which is fine I understand the new laws you have to charge 10¢ for *recyclable* bags, OK. But, they charged me 10¢ for one of those thin t-shirt bags which are not supposed to be charged for. Handz down my favorite place for boba drinks. I go here for the mango lemon slushy and this drink is so delish. Sweet but not overwhelming and it's got some chunks of mango in it. When I entered there was no one at the register. I waited for a few minutes and noticed they had mobile way to order so I paid at the tablet. I sat down and hoped whoever was inside the kitchen would receive my order and start working on it. 3 people stepped out of the kitchen and started working like 20 orders had just dropped and totally ignored I was there. I hoped they would know my order based on the fact I was the only customer present but no. I patiently waited for my order to be called out or placed on the counter. Once I got impatient I stood by the counter and finally someone approached me and asked for my receipt. She handed me a drink that was sitting just below the counter. I had ordered a slushy and it was all liquid at that point. I almost asked for a replacement but these kids looked like they had bad attitudes and I just wanted to get out of there. She noticed I ordered the popcorn chicken as well and went to the kitchen to prepare my order. The other two just kept themselves busy restocking and cleaning. Which is good but that should be done when there is no one to attend. Honestly horrible customer service. If they had just offered assistance as soon as they saw me it would've been a much better experience. Will definitely not return. read more

Me and my boyfriend ordered milk teas last night with crystal boba for delivery through doordash as a dessert after having dinner. This was around 8pm. I only added 25% ice. The bobas came delivered and intact. When I got it, mine had no ice and when I drank it I thought the boba pearls had an ODD texture, but I didn't think too much of it and finished it all since it's been a while since I jad boba. My boyfriend selected the option for soy substitute, but on the sticker it said they couldn't substitute it, so I'm like ok no worries only minor issues since we ordered through doordash anyways, so it's whatever. My boyfriend only had a few sips of his and stopped drinking it because he said he had a funny feeling in his stomach. I was just thinking probably him not accustomed to milk and was lactose. The next morning I end up having FOOD POISONING and end up upchucking boba pearls(not to be too gross or anything), and having a very upset stomach and was sent home from work. I was trying to figure out what caused me to be ill. Me and my boyfriend both had quesadillas last night and Hawaiian bbq for lunch yesterday, the only difference was that I drank all of my boba and he hardly touched his, like only 2-3 sips, due to the funny feeling he said he was getting in his stomach. Idk if the boba pearls were old or maybe the drink was old and had been sitting out for a while but I definitely got sick from it. Milk products shouldn't even be out for too long otherwise it goes bad(I think the rule is 2 hrs but not quite sure). This has been our favorite location..... up until today. My bf was ordering drinks while I was seated at the table cus I was being lazy. Now, my bf comes back after ordering and I looked up on the screen as he was coming towards me and I saw that the wrong thing was on there. I dont remember the exact order, but instead of two g5s, d5's was punched in( lets pretend thats what we ordered. I just remember the 5s not the exact letters). My bf is the nicest person when it comes to ordering and letting staff know, he even apologized when it was not his fault. I heard him order the correct thing.the guy just heard it wrong but you know, things happen people make mistakes! Anyway, this girl that were making the drinks heard that and gave an attitude. I guess she had made the d5s already and my guess is she's mad that she gotta remake 2 fucking drinks out of our order. I heard the cups banging the table, the threw the cups in the sink, banged the fridge under their table, saw her eyes roll over and over from where I was. Mind you, we WERE going to pay for whatever the difference was. Its not like we're trying to get a much more expensive drink. Or get a free drink! Even if it was 20 dollars for each cup extra, we would pay for it! Also as if those two drinks would come out of her own pocket! My least favorite Happy Lemon location because they don't have the popular drinks like the dragon dragonfruit lychee which is one of my favorites and the extremely slow service. I also don't like how if you call to place and order you still need to wait in line to pay. If there's a long line then you'll be waiting for quite some time. This defeats the purpose of calling ahead. Why not have a separate line for phone orders only or have the option to order online and pay. My go to boba spot close to home! The workers at this locationare friendly and accommodating. The two people making the drinks checked in with me and made my drinks right away. They seemed to have a good system in place for making drinks ordered online, in person etc. When I feel like being healthy-ish, I get their sea salt cheese black tea with 0 sweetness. It tastes refreshing with added flavor from the sea salt cheese. My kids love the mango Yakult smoothie (unique mango flavor compared to other boba spots) and my husband always gets their Okinawa fresh milk which tastes like caramel. read more

My go to boba spot for whenever I have a craving for lemon tea. I've gave their ever popular salted cheese drinks a few tries but I think they really excel in their lemon based drinks, hence their name. The salted cheese is a bit too salty for my personal preference. I always opt for the whole blended lemon (nice strong lemon taste with probably some lemon rind blended in) and my husband always get the freshly squeezed lemon. We switch between the tea type: black, green, oolong; they're all good. We always get 25% sweetness and the employees never fail to mention that it'll be sour; which is what we like. I appreciate their consistency in the sweetness level as that's really difficult to find at most boba places. read more

I approached one of the cashiers who gave me my drink to ask for extra strawberry and she asked me three times if I was sure and said she had already put three in there.. they have bad attitudes. Eh, easy location but subpar experience. Haven't been to a Happy Lemon in what feels like almost 2 years. By that time, all the smaller boba shops have adopted this whole cheese cream thing, and maybe the quality is dropping down at the source of it all from expanding throughout the Bay Area. Came to this location on a whim. Not a long wait anymore. My favorite thing about Happy Lemon is usually the customizability and expectation that I -don't- have to order straight menu items, which I started out doing. Their regular menu items are pretty good with the usual tea+cheese foam, yakult drinks, and smoothies being my favorite. Salted cheese is usually on top of the drink and you sip simultaneously with the tea, resulting in a cheesecake type flavor. Puff cream is sweet and a little salty but it's loosely mixed in with the drink. I'd say that's probably on par with a liquid version of Creme Savers candy. This time around I wanted a strawberry+puff cream+crystal boba. Straightforward, I'd like to think. But on a slow weekday afternoon, I guess no strawberry? Alright, adjusted to mango. Then, cashier proceeded to tell me I couldnt get puff cream because it didn't come with the drink? That's not how boba shops operate lol. Afterwards, I was asked with reassurance that I will be replacing tapioca with crystal boba. ..yes, that's what I ordered. This reverse psychology almost had me confused when I tried to be as clear as possible. Proceeded to watch some light bickering between the cashier and barista.. awkward. Drink was standard though. Last minute noticed Happy Lemon does mango cheesecake slices with cheese foam now for $4.50. Gave it a try this time with high hopes because I liked their cheesefoam drinks. They're small but I thought maybe there was a reason to justify the price. It was incredibly dry and crumbly for something in-between an asian cheesecake and NY cheese cake. Didn't taste any mango and the cheesefoam was already runny and puddling up in the container. My drink being very similar in concept was a better cheesecake experience than this. Happy Lemon is my everyday boba run shop. I love to go here when all else fails for trying new boba. Every happy lemon chain I have been to, they have had amazing drinks. What I normally get at happy lemon is either a strawberry green tea with salted cheese OR a passion green tea with salted cheese. Both has a very sweet and savory taste to it all while being refreshing. I usually always get it with a less sweet percentage because sometimes it can be TOO sweet. Less sweet is perfect taste. I really love Happy Lemon's aesthetics. Their design is a large open space with really clean/simple fixtures and furnishings. The mural on the main wall is beyond awesome and adorable. This is a nice place to hang out, catch up with friends, and to study. The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful. I think Happy Lemon does a good job making me feel welcomed. I haven't had any issues where I've been asked to leave for staying too long or anything like that. Mostly younger people and families come in here. Their menu is moderate in size, but whenever I get milk tea/boba I go with the basics. I enjoy Green/Black Milk Tea with Boba, so very few places mess that up. Happy lemon does it well and I usually get 25-50% sweetness- especially if I get boba. They're known for their salted cheese drinks and I know for a fact that their Black Salted Cheese Milk Tea is the perfection combination of sweet, savory, with the comforting roasted earthiness of the black tea. I had just had a horrible experience w the creama at sharetea (way too salty!!) so I was apprehensive but it turned out to be waaay better! I got the black tea with salted cheese and I was definitely craving my second fix all the way through the rest of the holiday break since there's surprisingly few in the oc area :( I definitely recommend trying it out and I can't wait to try the matcha mango too! the price is a little steep considering it's literally black tea topped w cream but it's still a good drink and different from the classic milk tea.
