Spicy Chinese Kitchen is a new hidden gem in Torrance! This spot just opened up in a small plaza at the border of Torrance and Harbor City. It still has the name of the previous restaurant that was there but they have a large red banner that says "Spicy Chinese Kitchen. Grand Opening." Though relatively new I could definitely tell when I visited that this spot is gaining popularity quickly! By the time I left, this small spot had every table filled. I was impressed right from the start. They have a great lunch special that starts at $10.99. Each meal is kicked off here with complimentary peanuts and pickled vegetables and lunch special includes soup and white rice. They've got a great selection of entrees. My friend and I ended up getting Cashew Nut Chicken and Chicken with Green Onion. Both dishes were flavorful and tasty. Portion sizes were huge too and I had plenty of leftovers. Went for lunch specials on a weekend and this is a full level leap up in regional Chinese food for the area! Reasonably priced and very spicy (be careful if you aren't used to southern Chinese food!). My mouth was still stinging well after the meal for the delicious hunan chicken with decent wok hei. The mustard shrimp was tasty, crispy and creamy. The San di xian (eggplant / green pepper / potato) was wonderful. The tea drinks were also good with fresh fruit in the fruit tea, and an extra good deal as a combo with the lunch specials.
