Hubby & I came here for their lunch special. The Sweet & Sour Chicken is highly recommended! We enjoyed it so much! This restaurant is in the shopping area across from El Pollo Loco. There's plenty of parking especially if you don't come during meal times The interior is small and is simply decorated. I liked the kitty figurines. Service is efficient but I can't say the staff is very friendly. Although the menu doesn't state that soup is included, we were each given a cup of Hot & Sour Soup at lunch. Hubby chose the Mongolian Beef. The beef was flavorful and very tender. The only thing about it was that it was only beef & onions. So many onions. If you like lots of onions with some beef, this would be the dish for you! I had the Sweet & Sour Chicken. After Hubby had a taste, he loved it! Spicy Chinese Kitchen is a new hidden gem in Torrance! This spot just opened up in a small plaza at the border of Torrance and Harbor City. It still has the name of the previous restaurant that was there but they have a large red banner that says "Spicy Chinese Kitchen. Grand Opening." Though relatively new I could definitely tell when I visited that this spot is gaining popularity quickly! By the time I left, this small spot had every table filled. I was impressed right from the start. They have a great lunch special that starts at $10.99. Each meal is kicked off here with complimentary peanuts and pickled vegetables and lunch special includes soup and white rice. They've got a great selection of entrees. My friend and I ended up getting Cashew Nut Chicken and Chicken with Green Onion. Both dishes were flavorful and tasty. Portion sizes were huge too and I had plenty of leftovers. Hands down the best Chinese food I've ever eaten! We only had one night in the area and chose this spot based on a recommendation--and it completely blew us away. My husband and I have brought up this meal multiple times over the last two weeks; it was honestly that good. Went for lunch specials on a weekend and this is a full level leap up in regional Chinese food for the area! Reasonably priced and very spicy (be careful if you aren't used to southern Chinese food!). My mouth was still stinging well after the meal for the delicious hunan chicken with decent wok hei. The mustard shrimp was tasty, crispy and creamy. The San di xian (eggplant / green pepper / potato) was wonderful. The tea drinks were also good with fresh fruit in the fruit tea, and an extra good deal as a combo with the lunch specials. I had called the day before asking if I could come in to place a large order for the next day. I gave them the time, for dinner. They said yes. So I come in on Friday, @ 2:45 pm to place the order. I walk in, the door is wide open, and the whole staff, about 5 people are sitting in the dining room eating. A girl looks at me and says, " Sorry, we are closed".
