I have no idea why Boiling Point is rated 3.5 stars. This restaurant and chain is incredible. Me and my roommate have gone to this location at least two times a month. Every time we go there is a wait time of ~30 mins to an hour. If the line is always long then the food is always good! My personal favorite is the Lamb hot pot! read more

We put ourselves on the waitlist and it only took about 15 minutes before we got seated. You scan a QR code for the menu. There was a milk tea deal for 50% off from 3 pm-closing. I got the seafood and hot tofu soup, mild. It was fine, but I recall when I've had this at other boiling points previously, it came with a small baby octopus and fish balls filled with roe or something, which they didn't have either of these this time. I got the Cha jelly milk tea as part of the 50% off milk tea deal. I liked this drink as it didn't have a strong tea flavor and the jelly added some texture to the drink. It's Friday and it's lunchtime me and a good friend decided let's find a good place to eat. That's a little different than our Friday and usual Korean barbecue so we found this place the one and only boiling point in Gardena getting there was not too bad coming from the 91 freeway just right off of Western Avenue getting into the parking area and where the food is really off the street so you gotta go through the side driveway to get to the parking lot in the back. After you find parking, you'll find the entrance to boiling point double doors and you'll be greeted with the waiter or waitress and you can see the number of tables in front of you. It's just a long narrow hallway with both seating on on both side of the wall and the cash register and food area is to your left. I count roughly about 1415 tables that can seat up two pairs of two with front to back enough room to put two hot pot stove with a little bit of room in between for a bowl of rice or noodle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment is not fancy, but it is lively and average noise.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is perfect for a couple or a pair but anything bigger than that you might as well find a different boiling point or a restaurant altogether definitely recommending for smaller groups of twos separated by tables[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I highly recommend getting there if you want for lunchtime right after 11 AM we got there roughly around 11:38 AM and there was only two tables of seating up to two left. I have not been to this particular one, but I am going to recommend it because it is just fantastic. Boiling point does not disappoint. I guess another way of saying that is highly recommending boiling point. It is the best if not the best. Well, I tried the Taiwanese spicy soup that has combination of all the inner my buddy got the typical beef soup with medium spice. All I can really say is the food and soup is phenomenal. I'm talking about it can literally make you be full and a good feeling of being full with good food combination of noodles, vegetables, proteins, and a little kick of spice or you can add a little bit more since they have side sauces for you to use. Boiling Point prices have definitely gone up in recent years. It's still delicious and satisfies your hot point cravings. We always come before 6 since it's easy to park and we never have to wait more than 15 mins to get a table. Come later, parking can be a pain to find in the plaza and the waits become much longer. You'll get a good mix of carbs, veggies, proteins. Safe options would be the beef since the house has stinky tofu that can take over the dish If you're not a fan of stinky tofu. Boiling point is always satisfying when you are craving soup. Not too many places in the Southbay you can get Taiwanese/hot pot style soups so this is def a gem. There's no denying that I absolutely love the food here but customer service and the food's quality control varies. It's a hit or miss on both subjects. It's either really good or bad. There are times where the customer service is superb but there are also times where they avoid eye contact with you or avoid you complete...when you're trying to get their attention! It's honestly disheartening at times because it's literally part of their job! I get that some customers can be rude as but I'm just asking for assistance. Nothing more, nothing less. Now-- when it comes to quality control there are times where their soups lacks in flavor.. either really spicy or not so spicy. Sometimes lacking in meat, broth and veggies. This shouldn't be an issue but it is! As much as I love their food, I had to knock it down another star because it's become more an issue as of lately. This was the most disappointing meal I've had. This place has really gone down hill. In the past few years, there has been so many changes to the ingredients that the it doesn't even taste the same anymore. The beef is grey, dry, and tough now. They switched the vermicelli to a cheaper, lower quality version found in instant hot pot kits. They got rid of the iconic BP mochi fish cake. The sauce options were reduced to only 3 varieties. Now, the tofu skin is replaced with some nasty preservative tofu substitute. I've been coming here for more than 10 years, but it's unrecognizable now. All these changes from corporate have ruined Boiling Point. So many cuts and cost saving measures, and for what? So there's extra money for their employees to wear bright red digital name tags? The employees don't even look happy working there, no one greets the customers and everyone has this blank stare and speaks with the same monotone voice. The only critique I have of the pot was the amount of oil that's added in, I think it's because I ordered medium spice and they use maybe the same chili oil that's on the table. For the price point, Boiling Point isn't bad, but wouldn't be my pick if I were in the mood for hot pot. It's lively inside and a good place for dinner with friends, but it would be a good idea to go early for a table since the restaurant gets packed since the wait is usually more than 45 minutes. I ordered the #1 House Special - there's a lot of different components to hotpot, so it's hard to review with a blanket statement, but I'll start with the soup base. I ordered my soup mild, and mild at Boiling Point is "Chinese mild" - it has a kick, so I wouldn't order it unless you can at least handle Hot Cheetoes. The soup is really intense with flavor, but for me, it wasn't really in a good way. It was extremely salty and the flavoring was almost reminiscent of eating flavor seasoning from bagged chips. This intense flavor means that it clings well onto the ingredients within the hotpot, but the soup itself is way too salty - and without rice to balance out the salt, it was way too much for me. As for the components: the beef was alright - thinly sliced and on the leaner side. I noticed large chunks of my beef clumped together like they weren't fully thawed out before they were thrown into the pot. The pork intestine was quite good, tender and rich. The tofu was a huge miss for me - incredibly dry and crumbly when bit into and a smell that reminded me of stinky tofu (but it isn't). The pork blood was also alright, very mild in taste and largely overpowered by the soup. There was also only one clam in my dish, but the clam had a LOT of sand in it that made me spit it out and left residual sand in my mouth - as if it wasn't cleaned beforehand. My favorites were probably the fish tofu that they put their logo on and the napa cabbage. While overall it wasn't a bad experience, I think the food is just alright and I don't see myself waiting to eat here again unless a friend wants to. read more

I have been to the boiling point in Arcadia. We ate at the Gardena on New year night. Needless to say, it was crowded and the wait was about 40 minutes for a table of 3. The Gardena one is pretty small, probably about 10+ tables. Once we sat down, we ordered two Beef spicy hot pot, and one Korean bean paste. The food came very quickly. The beef was a little over cooked, veggies and vermicelli are fine. Not sure it's it's the spice or what, I felt a very thirsty and my lips were very dry after the meal.
