Wonton soup and miso soup
Monica S.

First of all, the restaurant itself is decorated very well. It doesn't feel like you're in a strip mall store. My only con is that the heater wasn't making itself known very well and every time someone opened the front or back door, this horribly cold draft inundated the place. The staff is running around in their short sleeves, probably because they're busy and get hot, but the rest of us ate with our coats and jackets on. The big party sitting at the back of the restaurant seemed to be largely forgotten because they kept getting up and coming to the front to get their needs met and some of their frustrations were wrong orders. Then the waitress came and took our orders without writing them down and repeated them back to us incorrectly, so that got me a bit nervous, but our orders ended up being correct in the end. She seemed to know a lot of people coming in, which tells me they have many regulars. Food wise, the plates that we saw come and go were huge, so we expected the same...however we got smaller plates. Despite the size of the plate, you get a lot of food, so I can't really complain. I got a lot of tempura (one, single, sad shrimp though lol) for my combo. I feel like the ratio of rice to meat for my plate was really off. My husband's ration made more sense, so I guess that's why there was so much tempura? Either way, the flavors and quality were good, and I even enjoyed the steamed cabbage, which I never care for. My wonton soup was okay - it seemed to be a mix between wonton and egg drop, and my husband liked it better than his miso, so we swapped. There weren't many pieces of tofu in the latter, which was a bit of a downer, but it had good flavor. We got some English hot tea as well, which was good. Overall, we were able to have all of this food for under $70, which, in this economy, is amazing, so I'm stuck between 3.5 and 4 stats. I'd still recommend, though.

koi inside restaurant

Ambience is great. Love the koi pond. I waited a bit long for the order. Asked for a modification which they mistakenly didn't accommodate. Portions are good.

Wonton soup. It was different than other Wonton soups I've had but good. Kinds of like an egg flour soup and had bean thread noodles.

The restaurant was really clean and there was a cool koi pond in the middle of the restaurant. The server was really nice and the food came out quickly. Went there for dinner and they stayed pretty busy with diners and takeout orders. The food was good and I'd definitely go back.

One of our favorite local spots for teriyaki. The portions are good enough for 2 people to share. The staff and owner are very nice. The spicy chicken teriyaki is our favorite dish.

Spicy Tonkatsu (chicken)

I've been eating here for 10+ years now and the food has stayed good. I would say this is my favorite teriyaki place just because I usually don't eat at teriyaki places. I also just get one thing from here. I usually get the spicy tonkatsu. They do only use chicken and not pork even though it's labeled TONkatsu, just a fair warning. The sauce they use is super flavorful and just very mildly spicy. It's nothing like the Chinese mala spicy or Indian spicy. It's just enough for a slight kick and tons of flavor. They also marinate chicken for it really well and it ends up moist and tender. I seriously only eat here for that specific dish. The portions are also very big. You can turn it into 2 decent sized meals or 3 normal portions. The price for it is also very affordable. I also do enjoy their fried rice when I'm feeling non Chinese fried rice. Their shrimp fried rice is my go to when I do crave it. Overall I think this is a solid choice for food and the service has always been nice. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The ambience is nice and quiet with a koi pond. I prefer my restaurants to be quiet and peaceful.

This teriyaki spot has always been on my bookmarks, but I never really got a chance to go as my boyfriend, and I usually eat out late at night. However, since we live really close by and we're craving some good teriyaki, we decided to finally visit! I saw that the reviews were really high and loved that they had a koi pond inside that you can sit next to. The inside looked cozy and clean, the lighting was the perfect brightness for nice foodie pictures, and just overall a pleasant ambiance for a teriyaki joint. Speaking of, they had a good amount of dine in, to-go, and delivery orders throughout our visit. The kitchen staff were hard at work as you could hear the rhythm of kitchen utensils being used to cook up orders in a timely manner. Our waiter seemed like the only one running the front of the house with a waitress who was a cashier while also occasionally going around to drop off food or refilling water. You can seat yourself while you wait for someone to drop off a menu. We ended up ordering the shrimp basket and donburi. Our food arrived freshly cooked and tasted good! The portions were very generous and easily gave us leftovers. I also inquired if they still do the free frozen yogurt offer on Yelp and they do! That was also a pretty big serving despite being a small. But it was super refreshing after lunch. The service was great from both our servers! This is definitely going to be our teriyaki spot as we loved our visit here and can see why they have a great business (their story is on their website and menu)!

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Tonkatsu was juicy and tender. Not too heavy of a fry, which I appreciate, but still has the crispy/crunchy exterior. Simple dish but absolutely delicious and such a generous serving!! Yakisoba with beef reminded us of Chinese chow mien as the noodles were more soft in texture. The sauce they provided on the side added a lot of flavor with some soy sauce and sweet/tangy flavor Frozen yogurt is surprisingly good! It's a bit tart but very refreshing. Very generous with the serving size Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go. Simple but classy feel with fish tank at the entrance and a little fish pond in the middle Service: 5/5 - super friendly lady who greeted some customers by name. She was running the place by herself for a while but was still friendly and paid attention to each customer as much as she could. At one point while she was talking on the phone, the phone rang again while she was ringing out a customer and another asking for containers to go. But she was still friendly and just asked for a moment while she attended to each Value for price: 5/5 - highly recommend! Service was amazing, food was wonderful, and the price reasonable. The atmosphere was great and you can tell it's a favorite as the restaurant was busy constantly even at 4 PM

Spicy teriyaki chicken main entree, comes w/ steamed cabbage and rice $15.50 tasty.

There is a large shared parking lot that also had easy access back to I-5. I considered the overhead menu for a few minutes and then decided on the Big Boi Bento. One can place an order with a staff member or order directly from the touchscreen kiosk to the left. I sat at a four top by one of the windows, where I was brought a fork, chopsticks, napkins, and a giant glass of ice water shortly thereafter. This gave me time to look around. The interior has vintage Japanese decor on the walls, overhead music, there's a variety of onsite seating, and appeared relatively clean. Three other parties dined onsite and there were also takeout pickups observed. The kitchen crew and front counter staff were pretty efficient. I was even checked on once. Since the restaurant crew were having their shared staff meal break, I got my own takeout box and tried to bus my table. Another employee intervened, guess one can just depart at the end. Back to the bento box: This had 4 pieces of CA roll, pickled ginger and wasabi. In addition, there was one scoop each of macaroni salad and steamed rice. I had selected teriyaki beef as my protein of choice. This also was served with gyoza and tempura with its own dipping sauce. So why did I score this a three star? I only ate two of four of the CA roll pieces, because it kept falling apart and there was no low sodium soy sauce available. The macaroni salad was a bit heavy on the mayo. Steamed rice was toothsome. Thankfully, I was provided two small ramekins of dipping sauce for the gyoza and tempura. I poured one to soften up the rice a bit. The teriyaki beef was a bit overcooked and topped with sweet thick teriyaki sauce. However, the gyoza and tempura were on point. I did wish that there was complimentary miso soup and/or hot tea provided. It was just okay, hence the three stars. It did the job as my first meal of the day mid afternoon. The Big Boi bento was indeed generous and easily shareable. However, with tax and tip, this was over $33. A bit pricey for a weekday lunch.

I was told (among other dissatisfied responses) that they spoke with the server. Not once did they ask where we were seated, so how could you know where we were seated, to know whom exactly of your staff to have that talk with? Very poor encounter from management, and I see why their employees are no different!!

I had gotten their bento lunch special last year and was very happy with the amount of food but did not receive miso soup. They raised this price by $5 and I couldn't really justify that so I decided to get something else. My boyfriend got their sushi roll lunch special last time and in our recent visit and was happy with his choices. I got the sushi rolls lunch specials this time and I wished the rolls had more rice on them as there spots that had no rice at all or it would just come apart. For our rolls, we have tried their Philly roll, shrimp tempura roll, Lion King Roll, and spicy Bay roll. The sushi here is just your average sushi spot. It doesn't really differentiate itself from other places. For example, the spicy bay roll that I got just had a line of sriracha sauce and I was hoping for their own spicy sauce to top it off. The teriyaki was good from what I remembered but again, nothing to really differentiate it from other nearby locations. The service is friendly but they never come back to check on you or refill waters. Even when we were finished, the waitress was watching TV and must have got engrossed in it that she forgot we were there as no take out orders or other customers came in while we were there. They do have a large TV playing sports but no music and the TV was rather quiet. The space is nice but it just felt very dark but we sat next to a window so I could take nice pictures. I think this will be our last visit as there are other locations offer a better dining experience with better service and ambiance.

Pretty solid, imo. I got the Red Dragon (shrimp tempura, imitation crab, topped with spicy tuna) and the Sex on the Beach (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with spicy crab and salmon). I will say all of the fish tasted nice and fresh and I enjoyed both rolls. I favored the Sex on the Beach more, the whole roll was just better overall. The Red Dragon had good flavor, but the shrimp tempura tasted more chewy/soggy than it did crispy. Almost kind of stale, so that was a downside to that roll. Overall it's pretty good and I would definitely come back to try more of their menu - the AYCE seems like a solid deal!
