First of all, the restaurant itself is decorated very well. It doesn't feel like you're in a strip mall store. My only con is that the heater wasn't making itself known very well and every time someone opened the front or back door, this horribly cold draft inundated the place. The staff is running around in their short sleeves, probably because they're busy and get hot, but the rest of us ate with our coats and jackets on. The big party sitting at the back of the restaurant seemed to be largely forgotten because they kept getting up and coming to the front to get their needs met and some of their frustrations were wrong orders. Then the waitress came and took our orders without writing them down and repeated them back to us incorrectly, so that got me a bit nervous, but our orders ended up being correct in the end. She seemed to know a lot of people coming in, which tells me they have many regulars. Food wise, the plates that we saw come and go were huge, so we expected the same...however we got smaller plates. Despite the size of the plate, you get a lot of food, so I can't really complain. I got a lot of tempura (one, single, sad shrimp though lol) for my combo. I feel like the ratio of rice to meat for my plate was really off. My husband's ration made more sense, so I guess that's why there was so much tempura? Either way, the flavors and quality were good, and I even enjoyed the steamed cabbage, which I never care for. My wonton soup was okay - it seemed to be a mix between wonton and egg drop, and my husband liked it better than his miso, so we swapped. There weren't many pieces of tofu in the latter, which was a bit of a downer, but it had good flavor. We got some English hot tea as well, which was good. Overall, we were able to have all of this food for under $70, which, in this economy, is amazing, so I'm stuck between 3.5 and 4 stats. I'd still recommend, though. read more

4.5 stars. LOVE their food, the staff and the owners. Might have the best tofu teriyaki in the greater Seattle area! Orders take a while (understaffed? fresh, great foods just take longer?). I'll bump to 5 stars when they allow me to order (and, gladly, prepay) so I can cut my wait and have enough time to actually eat in on my lunch break. Too many Puyallup businesses have a terribly frustrating, terrible anti-customer-service policy of not allowing one to preorder and dine-in to avoid long waits. This is stupid. It's also costly. Feeding customers on site means no to-go packaging, less labor packing food up and less food container and utensil waste. SMH. Great food and pleasant service here, though! read more

I've been eating here for 10+ years now and the food has stayed good. I would say this is my favorite teriyaki place just because I usually don't eat at teriyaki places. I also just get one thing from here. I usually get the spicy tonkatsu. They do only use chicken and not pork even though it's labeled TONkatsu, just a fair warning. The sauce they use is super flavorful and just very mildly spicy. It's nothing like the Chinese mala spicy or Indian spicy. It's just enough for a slight kick and tons of flavor. They also marinate chicken for it really well and it ends up moist and tender. I seriously only eat here for that specific dish. The portions are also very big. You can turn it into 2 decent sized meals or 3 normal portions. The price for it is also very affordable. I also do enjoy their fried rice when I'm feeling non Chinese fried rice. Their shrimp fried rice is my go to when I do crave it. Overall I think this is a solid choice for food and the service has always been nice. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The ambience is nice and quiet with a koi pond. I prefer my restaurants to be quiet and peaceful. read more

This teriyaki spot has always been on my bookmarks, but I never really got a chance to go as my boyfriend, and I usually eat out late at night. I saw that the reviews were really high and loved that they had a koi pond inside that you can sit next to. The inside looked cozy and clean, the lighting was the perfect brightness for nice foodie pictures, and just overall a pleasant ambiance for a teriyaki joint. Speaking of, they had a good amount of dine in, to-go, and delivery orders throughout our visit. The kitchen staff were hard at work as you could hear the rhythm of kitchen utensils being used to cook up orders in a timely manner. Our waiter seemed like the only one running the front of the house with a waitress who was a cashier while also occasionally going around to drop off food or refilling water. You can seat yourself while you wait for someone to drop off a menu. We ended up ordering the shrimp basket and donburi. Our food arrived freshly cooked and tasted good! The portions were very generous and easily gave us leftovers. I also inquired if they still do the free frozen yogurt offer on Yelp and they do! That was also a pretty big serving despite being a small. But it was super refreshing after lunch. The service was great from both our servers! My chicken was so dry I could hardly chew it. It was as tough as jerky. The waitress was in such a hurry, even though it wasn't busy, that she didn't even take the time to hear what I ordered. The thick cuts of meat that are the usual for a good teriyaki shop have been replaced by nearly-minced low-quality meat. Beef and chicken teriyaki dishes had a faint taste of soap. The quality has been going down - especially for carry outs. I noticed that when you dine in - they serve the fresh Teriyaki or Katsu dishes that are made that day. But when you do carry out they simply reheat or refry day old chicken dishes. The teriyaki chicken that I had earlier this week for lunch was so tough and charred (probably grilled it twice) that it hurt my jaw from chewing the dried up, tough meat. My family and I have been coming to Happy Teriyaki 11 for years. Some of our family has moved away and anytime they visit, Happy Teriyaki is the first place we go. The food is fantastic. I highly recommend the family platters. We have a family of 5-6 and we always end up taking food home. It is also super convenient to order a family platter for pick up.
