Hidden gem! Complimentary hot tea, very kind and attentive staff, and sushi is absolutely delicious. Cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

The food, service, everything was so wonderful. My husband, daughter and I went here for lunch and this place is such a hidden gem. We got a hearbreaker appetizer which was delicious, then we had sushi as well. The waitress was so kind and patient with us. Especially with having our 1 1/2 year old daughter. We for sure plan to return!

Food was really good & big portion. The service and ambiance is very good. The owner and the staff are very friendly.

Solid sushi for the price. Fish was fresh and could tell it was of good quality and handled well. The only thing making it 4 stars is that the service is a bit lack luster and the place is incredibly warm in the summer. It felt cooler outside at 84 with a breeze than inside. I can imagine that it is the best sushi in this area however I haven't had any. They do a really nice job with the sushi presentation.

To start, hot tea and ice water. Such a selection. We really only came this time to try the sushi, which was simply Delicious! Each fish stood out in its own glory. Hachi and Salmon were slightly fatty, but with a firm texture. Tuna and the White Fish melted in your mouth. The Red snapper was firm without being chewy. Everything was so flavorful. The service was friendly and outgoing. Will definitely be back for more soon!

We came for a family birthday. The seating arrangement fit a family of 6 without feeling crowded. The staff were friendly, the food beautifully presented and tasty. The menu has enough of a variety that everyone had options. We will definitely come again!

This Japanese restaurant is the absolute BEST! I love their salmon teriyaki. The ingredients are so fresh and full of flavor! This is a family owned business and was originally located in Seattle for 20 years. Thankfully they moved to Parkland a couple of years ago and we get to enjoy their food weekly! Crystal, the server, is so personable and such an amazing server. She brightens our evening every time! If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place for you 5 stars all the way around!

I decided to try a Japanese restaurant new to me this afternoon. The restaurant is well decorated and has a welcoming vibe. I presume that the woman who waited on me is one of the owner's of this establishment. She was polite and was perfect in attending to me during my visit. The meal was excellent! Normally, my biggest gripe with Yakisoba is that it's too oily and too salty. The way the chef prepared the meal I had to day was fantastic! It had the perfect amount of oil, and the spices were perfectly balanced! There was no need to add soy sauce, and the spiciness was perfect. I was informed that spice hounds can ask for hot oil if they want to crank up the heat. I highly recommend this place to everyone in the area who appreciates great Japanese cuisine.

I think I've found my new favorite sushi spot in town. The owners are so kind and it's a family-run restaurant. The quality of fish was great, we had the Salmon Lovers and Hot Boy roll. The salmon was so buttery!

Thankful to have this amazing Japanese restaurant in the Parkland borough of Tacoma. If you like Japanese cuisine, then you'll love this hidden gem. Their quality and menu selection is off the charts. Kamei and her family are welcoming, kind and practical hosts. They have reinvented an obscure strip-mall spot into a welcoming space with amazing food. Go there for lunch and dinner, you won't regret it! There's plenty of parking in the back.

I tell you what this place is pretty awesome I have been meaning to get in here and try the sushi for a while and now I wish I didn't wait so long. They are very friendly here and the restaurant is very nice. I was surprised at first by the Miso soup it's really good not the bland we have to have it so here it is, it had depth to it I must say. Now I wasn't sure what I wanted so I ordered the sushi deluxe which was beautiful and I was impressed. This is a chefs choice sushi platter that did not disappoint I must say that every piece of sushi was awesome the cuts of fish were on point. To include salmon belly and white tuna, I hadn't had salmon belly before and it was excellent. I loved the buttery aftertaste. The sushi chef knows his stuff I will be coming here a lot. Totally recommend you try the place out.

5 out of 5 AYCE for sure! First time visiting Sumo Sushi & Grill last weekend with my family and we…read morehad such a great experience! (FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Below average. In…read morefact, if I had visited the Sumo AYCE in Tacoma before I tried the one in Burlington, I doubt I would have ever walked into Burlington's Sumo. It was Father's Day, so of course it was busy. But the food was subpar, it came out in indefinable intervals, and we weren't really checked on at all. The sushi - when it finally showed up - was good, but the grilled beef was fatty and greasy. The Chicken 'Katsu' was soggy. Some items - despite taking what seemed like forever to arrive - felt and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Horrible experience for $100. We won't be back.

We go nearby to do our annual tax returns (yay.) and then kind of make a tradition to come here and get a meal. My favorite combo here is the chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu. Full of flavor and loaded with vegetables. 10/10 easy. You get a generous serving for just over ten bucks and usually order a couple to go every time. As for the food, solid as well. Chicken is decent quality and has a good amount of char on it. The eggrolls are the usual basic and consistent brand along with the salad dressing too. The beverage cooler is a NO GO! All of the soda is expired and the can of soda I got was close to date but still good. The place itself could use some work. It appears that they clean but a deep clean has been ignored for a while. The tables have a look and feel to it that leaves us going ugh. The chairs got a sway and seem it's one ass away from buckling. Overall, you're not gonna stop me from the egg drop soup. Solid four stars and gonna get it everytime. Regardless.
