The sign for Big Boi, before it opened, had been up for like... A year? I don't even think I'm exaggerating either. So imagine my excitement when they FINALLY opened! Got the chance to stop in and pickup an order to eat lunch at home, and so glad I tried them. It's nice and cozy inside. I could definitely see myself coming for a quick lunch in the future. Service was quick and my order was ready for pickup when I got there. I got the Tuna Poké Bowl and Crab Rangoon (I just couldn't resist). Had I known how BIG the portions are, I would've skipped on the rangoon. They take the name Big Boi here very literally! The portions are insanely generous. When I say the shock that came over me when I saw this bowl when I got home... It had to have been 3 pounds, not even lying. They LOAD these bowls up. No skimping here! Layered with rice, lettuce, krab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, cucumber, and succulent cubes of tuna, this was just what I was looking for. Spicy mayo for drizzling comes on the side, but you're going to have to dump this thing into a separate bowl because you CAN'T mix in the bowl they give you. The $20 price tag makes total sense when you see the size and when you experience the quality. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. You can EASILY split this amongst 2 people. Oh yeah, and the rangoon... Delicious! 10/10 no notes. This was such a great local find and I can't wait to explore more of the menu - will definitely be trying their sushi soon! read more

I had passed on two other spots to grab a late lunch, so this was Plan C since Big Boi Teriyaki & Sushi looked promising based on the overall cumulative Yelp score (4/27/26). There is a large shared parking lot that also had easy access back to I-5. I considered the overhead menu for a few minutes and then decided on the Big Boi Bento. One can place an order with a staff member or order directly from the touchscreen kiosk to the left. I sat at a four top by one of the windows, where I was brought a fork, chopsticks, napkins, and a giant glass of ice water shortly thereafter. This gave me time to look around. The interior has vintage Japanese decor on the walls, overhead music, there's a variety of onsite seating, and appeared relatively clean. Three other parties dined onsite and there were also takeout pickups observed. The kitchen crew and front counter staff were pretty efficient. I was even checked on once. Since the restaurant crew were having their shared staff meal break, I got my own takeout box and tried to bus my table. Another employee intervened, guess one can just depart at the end. Back to the bento box: This had 4 pieces of CA roll, pickled ginger and wasabi. In addition, there was one scoop each of macaroni salad and steamed rice. I had selected teriyaki beef as my protein of choice. This also was served with gyoza and tempura with its own dipping sauce. So why did I score this a three star? I only ate two of four of the CA roll pieces, because it kept falling apart and there was no low sodium soy sauce available. The macaroni salad was a bit heavy on the mayo. Steamed rice was toothsome. Thankfully, I was provided two small ramekins of dipping sauce for the gyoza and tempura. I poured one to soften up the rice a bit. The teriyaki beef was a bit overcooked and topped with sweet thick teriyaki sauce. However, the gyoza and tempura were on point. I did wish that there was complimentary miso soup and/or hot tea provided. It was just okay, hence the three stars. It did the job as my first meal of the day mid afternoon. The Big Boi bento was indeed generous and easily shareable. However, with tax and tip, this was over $33. A bit pricey for a weekday lunch. read more

Highly recommend this place. Got the chicken teri, nigiri sampler, tempura, and a few rolls. First of all they mean it when they say big boi. The food is an amazing value for money. The quality is also overall fantastic. The nigiri sampler especially was delicious and so was the salmon roll. Great quality on the tempura as well which you don't often find. They were very polite and helpful over the phone. The aesthetics were really nice with vintage Japanese ads around the place. They seem new so I hope they can keep it up and get rewarded for their efforts with lots of customers. read more

This place has been open just a short time. But they are already a favorite go to place for lunch and dinner. They have a great selection of excellent dishes. Their poke is rock solid and all the food dishes are winners The service is excellent and so helpful. First timers are welcome as the staff will walk them through the menu. The welcoming atmosphere and hospitality are top notch. It might not be in a fancy shopping center but who cares it's great food and service. read more

Very stingy on portions and xtra charges for everything.....even on fortune cookies? Macaroni salad is not for everybody.......why can't just regular salad? Nope, that's a $2 "upgrade"..... Big Boi is a gem!!! We found it because we were craving teriyaki one day. Although there are a number of teriyaki spots in Federal Way, we come out to Big Boi because it's my boyfriend's favorite spot. The staff are very friendly. The restaurant is clean and spacious with cute decor. The portions are HUGE and their teriyaki chicken is textbook perfection. I've also tried their spicy tuna roll combo and was surprised at how delicious their salmon and tuna nigiri is. They provide generous cuts of fish. The salmon has excellent flavor. I'm picky about tuna because I can detect the fishiness at a lot of places. I was very impressed with how fresh the nigiri is at Big Boi. I've also recently tried the salmon poke bowl. Even though I ordered take out, the presentation was beautiful and it's been my favorite entree so far. Highly recommend checking out this new spot and we will definitely be back! read more

Ordered takeout and was really disappointed. The "spicy" chicken teriyaki was actually sweet with no spice at all and had way too much liquid. The chicken katsu was probably the only decent item we had. We also ordered crab wontons, which were made with imitation crab and had a very artificial taste. The Kiss of Fire sushi roll was honestly not good at all. I honestly don't understand how this place has a four-star rating. The quality felt very basic and poorly done. Sujin was super friendly over the phone and when I picked up my order. Greeted me with a huge smile on her face right when I walked in the door. It was ready within 10 min. Good portions. The orange chicken was our favorite. It had the traditional orange chicken taste with a tang of natural orange that wasn't overbearing. The spicy chicken teriyaki was a bit too sweet and not enough spice. But overall was a great experience and we will be back to try other dishes. read more

The restaurant is very open and bright. Very welcoming. Love the old style metal signs. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the serving size was great. I got the teriyaki chicken and Orange chicken combo with a California roll. The teriyaki was very well cooked as well as the orange chicken which had a perfect crisp and well caramelized sauce. Ordered a Chicken Teriyaki to go, not the best in my opinion the chicken wasn't well done (after asking) seemed as the just topped it with the sauce but it wasn't enough. The deal breaker was not having a salad although the cold salad was ok. They could of put extra sauce and cooked the chicken a little bit more (for my liking) I'll have to try their sushi next time MAYBE read more
