One of the better sushi places in the area. Prices are reasonable. Service is very attentive. Had the Dragon roll and the eel portion was very generous. I was last here 8 months ago and sadly the quality and portions has really gone downhill for the enormous cost. The unagi was rubbery and fishy tasting (just gross). Scallop handball literally had a half a scallop. The rolls were painfully small. The Hamachi jalapeño appetizer? It was definitely a low quality Hamachi, really dark in color and chewy. Great quality Hamachi is supposed to be on the white side and melts in your mouth like butter. All this for $143 We wont be back! Drive the extra 10 minutes and go to Mandolin. read more

One of my places I wanted to go too again because of the ambiance and service is so great here. We ended up getting the hamachi lover roll, hamachi and jalapeño, spicy chicken, Tempura, sweet and sour chicken, calamari katsu, and edamame. The calamari Katsu was TOP tier. The tempura was great as always. The roll was my FAV, would get it again. We did order the salmon lover roll but they gave us hamachi instead but we do love hamachi so we kept it. The edamame was perfectly salted & fresh. The hamachi and jalapeño was great. I do recommend getting the bento box, it's so worth it. We are longtime customers of Sapporo, and they are usually wonderful with great food. I am a cancer patient, and the treatments leave me with no appetite. I knew I could get an appetizer and small salad there. When I ordered my meal, the server began arguing that I needed to order more. My wife and I explained I was sick; I even pointed to the IV in my arm. She would not stop. Finally, my wife told her that was all we wanted and she left. When she brought my food, she started in again that I needed to order more. I told her she was being rude and that I did not want to argue with her. If this is how the staff at Sapporo treat customers, then I suggest everyone find another place to eat. I wish I could leave less than 1 star. read more

It was always hard to find a good sushi spot until we found this gem. Great little shop in a corner spot in Fife. It's small inside but they have their returners and for a reason. They even have a wall of the "regulars" chopsticks!! They don't do that anymore but it's so cool. FYI they use real crab for their California rolls and all rolls that use a Cali roll as the base with different toppings. Their seafood selection for their sushi is very fresh. Their sunshine roll which is salmon and thin sliced lemon, is my all time fave!! The service is good. Really sweet older lady who's always helpful. Ordered a veggie roll , tempura basket ( loved the mushrooms) , and a veggie/tofu udon dish very yummy! From the pics, you can see they give healthy larger portions which I like ! Overall extremely satisfied and full. I definitely will recommend to my colleagues that are coming up for training in Tacoma next week. Wow, I can't believe I haven't tried this place sooner. It's right off of the highway in Fife and it's in a large parking lot so fairly easy to get to. The staff were super kind and I was surprised by the pricing of everything! I only got sushi, but next time would love to try the Bento box! This is an updated review for this place. Our last visit was prior to the pandemic. Heard that it had changed ownership about a year ago. Ambiance didn't change. Still the old restaurant except new staff is obvious. Service was friendly and attentive, miso soup and green salad which was average served before the main dish arrived. Bento with short rib was of good portion and grilled perfectly, tasted just right with adequate marination. However the saba (mackerel) was disappointing, instead of grilled under flame, the kitchen took a short cut and tossed the fish into hot oil and ended up overcooked it and tasted dry and rubbery. The Chirashi I ordered was pretty good with the selection of tuna, salmon, snapper, albercore, octopus (chewy) , shrimp and tamago. Although tasted fresh, but they lacked the natural flavor of fish. I know some chefs could apply the aging process which will enhance the fish and bring the taste to a upper level. In conclusion, this business still has room to advance and do better. read more

Had takeout from here for lunch. The beef in the teriyaki felt old, overcooked, and reheated. The inner part of the salmon mania sushi felt like it had been prepped the night before and was sitting all day. Also had the Hamachi sashimi which would have been fine on its own but given that I had bites of two other stale dishes, the sashimi didn't exactly give me hopes that it was all that fresh. Another great strip mall find. We went for lunch after buying a car across the street. We both had bento lunch boxes. I had sashimi with spicy chicken, my dad had sashimi with katsu calamari. The bento boxes came with salad, rice, miso soup, cucumber salad and another seafood salad. Any way the sashimi was ahi, salmon, and yellowtail, all tasted nice and fresh. The katsu calamari were tender finger like pieces. The spicy chicken was more sweet than spicy, I think teriyaki chicken with sriracha would be more like I wanted. The place became crowded soon after we arrived and they were also doing a brisk takeout business. Their high rating matches the seemingly happy stream of customers. Was helping my guy shop for a car today and when it was all said and done, we were starving so wanted somewhere close and Sapporo sushi came up on Google. Its a cute little restaurant, lots of decor on the walls and the servers are really sweet and prompt with service. I don't really remember the name of the rolls, I remember one was a volcano roll and one had spicey crab on top which was absolutely phenomenal and another had eel. We got a tasty miso and side salad as well Hamaki as a starter which were fried egg rolls that were very crispy and tasty. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and amazing food, ill definitely be returning. Everything pictured was $71 before tip so it's also reasonably priced. read more

Well we usually have to qualms about the food here. It's always good. Today did a day trip to Seattle and Renton and had to pull out of terrible traffic on Friday. So we decided to stop at my fav Udon soup place! Unfortunately on Friday nite it was busy in here and they were slamming out food!! John's soup was hot and mine not so much. Luke warm soup does not cook the raw egg. I tried basting from the bottom of the cauldron... no avail. So this time I give only three star. Sue did apologize up and down. I did hear her yell at the kitchen help! Lol. There is something about the tone u hear from outside that made me cringe a bit... oops someone got in trouble. Tempura soft shell crab was good but pretty tiny. The little salads n cuke salads are tasty too for appitizers! Back off the road for 3 days at home woo hoo!! I upped there stars to 4 tonite. We stopped in on our way home to get some yummy Udon soup. And tonite it was perfectly hot!! Smacked on some fried tofu for app too nummy. In town again and in with my step daughter. Love love love the sushi here. The staff is awesome the seafood is amazing. The sushi is fantastic. The get fish drivers more often than other sushi spots. We unfortunately live a little far to make this in our normal rotation. But it's definitely a special place sushi spot. The table situation isn't the greatest but it would never stop us from coming here. I recommend the roll that has thin slices of lemon on top. Not sure the name but you will find it and definitely order it. Also a great roll is the tiger eye. Get both. They bring squid salad to you and it's amazing. Husband doesn't like so I get his. This review is for take out food only. I ordered the dinner bento box for delivery since I wasn't feeling well having had it once or twice and remembering it to be delicious. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it. The chicken was dry, powdery, very little sauce and the ribs were some of the worst I'd ever had. Everything arrived cold even though it's not that far from my place. No extra teriyaki sauce. I think a lot of places are short changing their to-go customers and this place is no exception. I guess I'll have to go back to eating in person to get good quality, but again, I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to leave my house. What a waste of money. read more
