One of my places I wanted to go too again because of the ambiance and service is so great here. We ended up getting the hamachi lover roll, hamachi and jalapeño, spicy chicken, Tempura, sweet and sour chicken, calamari katsu, and edamame. The calamari Katsu was TOP tier. The tempura was great as always. The roll was my FAV, would get it again. We did order the salmon lover roll but they gave us hamachi instead but we do love hamachi so we kept it. The edamame was perfectly salted & fresh. The hamachi and jalapeño was great. I do recommend getting the bento box, it's so worth it. Prices here are reasonable for the amount you get including the sides. The parking was great, there was many. They play some music and brings the whole vibe together.

Service - excellent and friendly staff Good - fresh and flavor is well balanced. Not too salty or greasy. Everything tasted delicious. Sashimi - loved the variety and it tasted fresh Chicken teriyaki - was not burn and meat was super soft and yummy Ambience - relax and nice. Lots of interesting Japanese art. Super thoughtful and the bathroom was cleaner than most restaurants of this type in the area. Seats were comfortable and the menu was easy to follow. Lots of options and variety for picky eaters. Would definitely come back

We had the tempura lunch bento box. It was crispy and delicious. Did not try sushi. I'm not a fan. Tempura bento & teriyaki salmon bento.

It was always hard to find a good sushi spot until we found this gem. Great little shop in a corner spot in Fife. It's small inside but they have their returners and for a reason. They even have a wall of the "regulars" chopsticks!! They don't do that anymore but it's so cool. FYI they use real crab for their California rolls and all rolls that use a Cali roll as the base with different toppings. Their seafood selection for their sushi is very fresh. Their sunshine roll which is salmon and thin sliced lemon, is my all time fave!! The service is good. Really sweet older lady who's always helpful. We make a point to stop in when we are in the area.

This place is a gem! I only wish we were local. We just happened across it because we were hungry and got of the freeway. Legit Japanese food! Everyone was very pleasant and it wasn't too crowded. Highly recommend!

Staff is very warm and welcoming, small in size, but big enough to seat 40 people in total give or take. Ordered a veggie roll , tempura basket ( loved the mushrooms) , and a veggie/tofu udon dish very yummy! From the pics, you can see they give healthy larger portions which I like ! Overall extremely satisfied and full. I definitely will recommend to my colleagues that are coming up for training in Tacoma next week. Only knock would be Styrofoam to go boxes but that's the California kid in me!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't tried this place sooner. It's right off of the highway in Fife and it's in a large parking lot so fairly easy to get to. The staff were super kind and I was surprised by the pricing of everything! I only got sushi, but next time would love to try the Bento box! The sushi menu is extensive and there's lots of other entrees too. Loved that our food came with salad and miso soup- that was a nice touch for sure. Definitely give it a try!

Great food wonderful staff. According to the staff there's new ownership and had a few updates. We love this place for a casual go to sushi cravings. We always order the sushi small dinner comes with 9pc of sashimi. We normally get a bento box but didn't. Overall we been coming here for a little over 4 years and we always enjoy either to dine in or just take out.

Had takeout from here for lunch. The beef in the teriyaki felt old, overcooked, and reheated. The inner part of the salmon mania sushi felt like it had been prepped the night before and was sitting all day. Also had the Hamachi sashimi which would have been fine on its own but given that I had bites of two other stale dishes, the sashimi didn't exactly give me hopes that it was all that fresh. Also, this is every business now but wow at the prices. Could maybe justify this if the quality met the cost?

(FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

It was Father's Day, so of course it was busy. But the food was subpar, it came out in indefinable intervals, and we weren't really checked on at all. The sushi - when it finally showed up - was good, but the grilled beef was fatty and greasy. The Chicken 'Katsu' was soggy. Some items - despite taking what seemed like forever to arrive - felt and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Horrible experience for $100. We won't be back.

Nothing wrong with cheap and good, unless the ingredients make your tummy hurt. Lol. Luckily it was not cheap quality like corner store ramen or anything. My broth was pretty quality also, but could habe used a slight bit more flavor in my opinion. It was a creamy broth and most places keep it clean so its normal that I want more flavor from creamy broth. Lucky for me their spice is actually spicy.

After finishing, my biggest takeaway was: how has this place managed to stay open for so long? Environment: The place is clean, and both the sushi counter and the freshness of the ingredients are evident to the eye. The chefs' uniforms are also very neat. Taste: Sorry, it's hard to put into words! I ordered the lunch combo. The server asked how I wanted my beef done, and I said medium rare would be fine. But the beef was really tough! The tempura was okay. My friend had the pork cutlet rice bowl--the cutlet wasn't crispy, and the sauce was poured directly on top instead of being served on the side as we requested. So neither of us finished our food and we left. Fun fact: Tempura, though it's deep-fried, actually has the second-lowest calorie count among all Japanese dishes. So what's the lowest? Sorry, I forgot. A long time ago, Japan was considered the end of the continent, so many things that made their way there were seen as reaching the ultimate destination. As a result, the Japanese would thoroughly study everything that came--whether it was swords, food, tea ceremony, etc.--which eventually gave rise to what we now call craftsmanship or the spirit of mastery.

The cabbage rolls are delicious, the meatballs are fantastic, and their fresh-baked breads and pastries are some of my favorites in the area. That being said... I made the mistake of coming here on a Saturday afternoon. First, the parking lot. Wow. It took me probably 10-15 minutes just to find a parking spot. There simply isn't enough parking for the number of people that come here on weekends, so everyone is circling the lot waiting for someone to leave. Then, once you finally find a space, people don't leave enough room to get in or out because traffic is coming from every direction. If driving stresses you out, I'd honestly recommend visiting during the week instead. Monday through Friday around lunchtime has always been a much easier experience for me. Inside was just as busy. The deli counter had a huge line, and the store was packed with people. It was difficult to move around because shoppers were constantly walking in front of each other without much awareness of those around them. None of that is really the store's fault--it just speaks to how popular they are--but it definitely made for a stressful visit. The reason I stopped in this time was to finally try some of the desserts, and I'm so glad I did. The honey cake was absolutely incredible and easily my favorite. I'll definitely be buying that again. I also tried the Spartak cake, which was good, but the honey cake stole the show for me. I couldn't decide on one of the mousse cakes because they all looked amazing, so I asked the employee behind the counter to pick her favorite. She recommended the mango mousse cake, and she was right--it was delicious. The white chocolate shell gives way to a light, tangy mango mousse with actual pieces of mango inside. It was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. The only downside is the price. The mousse cakes are roughly palm-sized and around $10 each. While they were very good, I finished mine in one sitting, whereas the honey cake and Spartak lasted me much longer and cost less. Overall, I absolutely recommend this market. The food, bakery, and hot deli are excellent, and I'll definitely keep coming back. My only advice is simple: avoid Saturday afternoons if you can. You'll probably enjoy the experience a whole lot more.
