Takeout-Bottom: beef chow fun top: chicken with mixed vegetables
    Kathy G.

A Rita Ranch staple! Takeout: Food is always flavorful and hot! Hubby got his usual, Chicken with Mixed Vegetables-Family Meal that comes with steamed white rice, small egg drop soup, a crab puff, and a vegetable egg roll. Me, I had the savory, Beef Chow Fun noodles, with lots of thinly sliced tender beef...yum! Service was prompt, got a warm smile and welcome greeting. They just finished serving a large table of patrons, who looked extremely happy with their dining experience. Went to pick up our take-a-way and there were three other orders ready, plus passed a lady who was walking out with her p/u order. They certainly stay busy! Thank you Happy Wok!!

    Shrimp with vegetables

I sought ought Asian food when I was in the area and came across Happy Wok. Small place in a strip mall next to Safeway. The staff was pleasant, but I was a bit put off because you have to order and pay up front before you eat. It's hard to tip when you don't know how the service or food will be. They bring the food out to you. I usually drink water with my meals. I was told it was 50 cents for a bottle. I don't like drinking out of a flimsy plastic bottle and usually drink more than 8 ounces. I should have asked for a glass and ice, again a personal preference. Lunch specials include an egg roll, soup and white rice. I ordered the shrimp with vegetables. It was in a nice brown sauce and the veggies were fresh and not overcooked. The egg drop soup was good. I didn't really care for the egg roll, but that's just a personal preference. They have a great selection on the lunch menu as well as the regular one. I saw some other dishes go by that looked interesting as well. Portion size was okay for lunch. Lunch specials are $10.50-$11.50 which is average compared to other places. The place was clean but nothing fancy. I will probably stop in when I'm in the area and hungry for Chinese food. *I want to make a note that the food in the dining room is now served on regular plates and bowls. I noticed previous reviews said the food was served in styrofoam. If that had been the case, I would not return. I don't do take out very often, partly because I hate styrofoam. I was forced to do take out during the pandemic but was glad when that was over and restaurants returned back to normal.

I was craving some General Tso's chicken and some noodles, so I tried out the restaurant near where I live and ordered to-go. Disappointed was an understatement. I ordered the lunch special of the General Tso's chicken and it just came with chicken and rice. Most Chinese restaurants will at least put in a couple florets of broccoli, but this had no vegetables at all. I also ordered the Beef Chow Fun and it decent. It was pretty oily, and some of the noodles were undercooked.

    Won Ton Soup

I'll say 4.5. It was pretty dang good. OK, things are looking up for the east side. This is only a 13 minute drive from my house, it is in the Safeway plaza on E. Valencia in Rita Ranch. We had the Happy Family: Beef, chicken, char Siu pork, shrimp, scallops, snow peas, water chestnuts, mushrooms, broccoli, bamboo shoots, and zucchini. It said "crab meat" in the description, but there wasn't any. This was really good! The beef and chicken were SO tender, like butter in your mouth. The veggies were cooked right. The char Siu pork tasted old and didn't like it. But you know, just pick it out. This was a great choice. The wonton soup has big won tons. Broth is good, dumplings good. A large is large and can feed four. The pork egg rolls were good. Edible. Yeah, I know, I'm jaded because no one makes as good of egg rolls as Mom. But these were decent. Definitely better than Ba Dars, which were lackluster. It came with a bag of fried wonton strips. Not sure what to do with that. The rice is not the usual small grained rice that doesn't stick. It is maybe a medium grained rice that does stick a little. Definitely prefer it to the usual. Service? Well, I called it in and she said it would be 15 minutes. I get in the car and get there in 13 minutes and it is waiting for me! All hot and ready to go! Yeah, super service. We will eat here again. The beef and chicken makes it so that we want to try their other dishes with those meats in it. And for those times that I don't want to drive 25 minutes to Jun Dynasty. [See my pics of the current menu and pricing.] 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

    5:00 dinner rush?

First impressions. No one in the restaurant. Boy playing on phone in the corner, person behind the counter sleeping other employees were very cold. Service was nonexistent.. I had to ask for napkins and utensils. And no one came to see if I needed anything the whole time. Food is mediator to say the least. Probably get better Chinese food at trader Joe's. Will not come back again.

My mostly consumed egg drop soup
    Ken R.

The egg drop soup test is an important test to pass in order for me to like a Chinese food restaurant. If the soup has a good flavor and a thicker consistency than just plain broth, you're usually also going to get a good main dish. Happy to say both are true at Happy Wok - a no frills spot where the food is served in styrofoam regardless if you eat in or take out. I ate in and the food came out so fast I wondered if it was not freshly prepared. Glad to say it definitively was and it was as good as the soup! It did come out of the kitchen at just slightly cooler than the surface of the sun, but once it cooled down, I was able to enjoy the nice heat of my kung pao chicken, well appointed with meat and fresh vegetables. Definitely a place to come back to - or for you to try out for the first time.

    Orange chicken lunch special
    Valerie S.

Just stopped in before catching a flight out for a late lunch. Their lunch specials were still active I ordered their orange chicken that is served with choice of soup, egg roll, and steamed rice. I opted for their hot sour soup & upgraded to fried rice. Their soups are the thick, creamy-type, and I'm not a fan; I prefer the old-fashion broth type (if you know, you know!) Egg roll, perfect! Fried rice? Perfect! Orange chicken? Tasty! My hubby had the chicken lo mein & that was very good, too! All of our food came out fresh, and piping hot. The server didn't speak very good English, but he definitely was friendly and attentive. While there, we had the misfortune of spilling two drinks ‍ but our server was so gracious and even chuckled with us and quickly cleaned up our mess. We would definitely return.

I ordered the dinner combo Mongolian beef and Chow main beef, both delicious. The food came quickly, didn't have to wait long. The food was very hot, the restaurant was clean and the staff friendly...

    Chicken fried rice
    Kerry G.

Ordered takeout from here a few weeks ago. We had heard some good things so we decided to order. We ordered chicken and broccoli, chicken fried rice, sweet-and-sour chicken and a couple of egg rolls. Let me tell you, the chicken, fried rice was one of the best I've ever had! The flavor was fantastic! As far as the other stuff, while it tasted good, it didn't have a ton of flavor. Their sweet-and-sour sauce is a little on the thin side with not a lot sweet flavor. The order was ready and packed up when we got there. Everyone was very friendly. The inside looked nice, but I always seem to be turned off when one of the tables is used as an office. I think that should be done in the back. I think we would go back there in a pinch, but we may try somewhere else before hand.

Crab puffs but minus the crab
    Dannielle T.

I feel bad leaving a negative but -- I called and placed an order for takeout and the woman behind the phone was friendly so there is that! Our food only took 15min to be ready so again, there's that. The food... I ordered the crab puffs and there was no crab in any of my puffs. Just straight cream cheese. I think the chef just whispered *crab* into each dumpling before pinching it closed and frying said dumpling. Seriously there was no crab lol. The orange chicken should have just been called "orange colored sugar chicken". Because it didn't have a hint of orange and was overly sweet. The veggie fried rice was bland. The egg rolls were soggy and my kids wouldn't eat them and they haven't met a single egg roll they didn't like... until tonight. The beef lo mein was eh. The slices of beef weren't bad but the noodles weren't it. Anyway I'm sorry happy wok! My one star is for the clean and inviting ambiance your restaurant gives and another star for friendly staff. That's all, won't be back.

"Pan" fried noodles lol. Boxed more like.

For example, in the middle of taking our order - the server asked the gentlemen at the table right next to us who just sat down, "What would you like to drink?" while standing talking to me.
