Had a few spots were all the grease kind of settled... might be nicer if they wait a minute to let the fats drip off on a rack or something. But hey, its fried fish--- not sure what else one might expect! Went on a tuesday, got their evening special. One with fries and one with slaw. Both sides were great. Customer service was top notch and friendly. The person who served us tried hard to answer our questions accurately. Always appreciate that kind of extra effort. If you walk through the restaurant there is a long hallway outside of the back door. It's got a huge mural painted on it and we enjoyed sitting their to dine on our meal. If I were to remove one star (which I'm not) it would be due to their weird hours. Their website and yelp says one thing, but experience has demonstrated that in real life the hours are different. They seem to close at 7pm in the "off season" or during the week. I came here with my family before watching the Parade of Lights. The location is on the smaller side, and is located in the Oceanside Harbor. We tried a few of their items including the clam chowder, fish and chips, coleslaw and fried clam strips. The fish and chips were good, but a little greasy and not super crunchy. The fish was tasty though and the fries were good too. Crunchy enough. The clam chowder was quite tasty. Creamy, with plenty of potatoes and clam meat. It was served piping hot. I added a little hot sauce to give it a kick. The fried clams were the star of the meal. A generous portion that was enough for me to share. I would definitely order this again. We went here before to take friends and had the fish tacos, which were okay. This time we had fish & chips and they were very nice to give us extra for being Military. It was pretty greasy but that's what you expect for deep fried foods. It was just allot of batter and less fish. It tasted pretty okay with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Always clean, service is as fast as it can be depending on the season (summer, be prepared to wait) food is consistent...Today I ordered the Thursday special, two fish tacos...holy cow...what a HUGE plate of food. I think it was $10 and change for two regular size pieces of fish on two corn tortillas, loaded with cabbage and a really yummy sauce. I got cole slaw to go with it, not realizing how much cabbage would already be on the plate. My only complaint (usually every time) is that there's too much breading and too much grease...yes, I know they are deep fried but I've had deep fried fish before that wasn't as greasy....the fish is always fresh! My son ordered the Shrimp basket...I think that's my new go to item. 5 large shrimp and fries...a little pricey at $14.99 but the shrimp was delish! There's something about coming to the harbor here in Oceanside, overlooking the boats, seeing a sea lion making his/her way through the harbor and enjoying some delicious fish and chips. This place can get busy on the weekends but they keep up pretty good in getting the orders out. The fish is always fresh and the portions are HUGE. I think they get about $16 for a 3 piece fish and chips but seriously, it's enough for two people. You can get 1, 2 or 3 pieces and options for cole slaw or beans instead of fries. Friday nights, especially in Summer, can be nutso, so plan accordingly, and expect your meal to be between $13 - $17 per person. Not snooty rich, but not dirt cheap either. There are also nightly specials; for example, the Friday Sampler Plate gets you fries, slaw, a huge piece of battered cod and a tempura shrimp at a decent price. I seriously underestimated this place because I absolutely loved it. I live near it and never tried it until Thursday. It's literally right on the harbor so the view is phenomenal. It's around all the other little shops so you can definitely walk around after your meal. It wasn't crowded when my husband and I got there so it wasn't hard to find a seat. I got the Thursday night special which was the fish tacos and fries and my husband got the Captain's special. The food came out really fast which I absolutely loved, because let's be honest, I hate waiting for food. So the food comes out, right? And I am absolutely MIND BLOWN at the portions. At first I was like, "uh. Only 2 fish tacos? Guess I'll settle for it." Next thing you know, I'm like, "Bruh! This is like 5 tacos fixed into 2!" The portion was huge. This used to be a great place. Big pieces of fish, great chowder, great tarter sauce. But this is sadly no longer. Prices are still high but you get uniform pieces of fish that is All greasy batter and thin fish, if u have any at all. So sad. Tarter sauce taste like bottled Mayo. Fries are soggy, no taste, and chowder is milky with hardly any clams and no taste. Place has patio and indoor seating including rear hallway seating( it's in a unique mall strip with back to back stores with rear door shopping access). This place is a true disappointment. I live locally and brought family from out of town. The battered fish was soaking in oil, the clam strips didn't seem to have any clams in them, the napkin holder was caked with grime, tables sticky... Food is ordered at the register and then picked up when your number is called; however, if u pay w a credit card, a gratuity screen promps u to add a minimum of 15% . Not sure what for when I do all the work... Certainly a very touristy spot because if it's location, but the food is not worth a dime. read more

Had the fish and chips and they were ok. I felt the breaking was rather bland and it was really greasy. The service was good, but the prices are very high for the quality of food served. Be careful if you sit outside as a seagull swooped in and stole our tarter sauce which then spilled all over the table:(. We decided to move inside where the atmosphere is dated. I enjoyed the historical info, but the restaurant needs updating badly. Not sure I would recommend this place to anyone. I think there are better places along the boardwalk. read more
