I was here on 4/4/23 at 7:30pm the server which was very rude and annoyed with my party of 10. We came in he showed us to a table then appeared to be very confused kept leaving and then coming back like he was filling in as a server. He yelled at us because he couldn't get the drink order right. Brought the wrong food to the table never asked us about our next meal selection (all you can eat). Never smiled or listened to us at all. I come here at least 4 times a year @ $35.00 a head can be a lot. We had a clump of blonde of Blonde Caucasian hair in our shrimp then he gets mad at Us and ask what you want a free meal? We are black with Negro hair with braids and I have a curly Afro. This is not a race issue this is a poor service situation and a person who is not suitable to serve as a server. While taking our order he kept going to check out other tables? I spent $326.00 the service was awful until a real server was placed at our table. We stopped in here during a pub crawl. The place in nice and the service is friendly. (even when stopping in with 30 other folks) They had a nice selection of beers and wine. We didn't eat much but my husband and I did get soup. I had the chowder and he got a gumbo. My chowder was creamy and delicious. Lots of dinner possibilities, all-you-can-eats, dinner combos. As their name suggests, they have various surf-n-turf offerings, fish and chips, shrimp, scallops, etc. I happened upon their coupons in the Entertainment Book and thought I would give them a try. There were 5 family members in our dining party. The restaurant had just a couple other tables occupied when we arrived, but it was also when they 1st opened for the day. As you enter, there is an aquarium off to the right of the entrance and apparently you can select the lobster(s) for your meal. They kind of all look alike to me, and honestly, I'm glad they don't have an aquarium with their fish offerings, or a bunch of cows standing out back, waiting for me to select a steak or two for my meal (grin!) Inside, there is plenty of room and the walls are decorated with ocean side themes. Very nice. During my visit, I happened upon the men's rest room and found it to be impeccable. They have some pretty good combos and specials on their regular menu. Lots of choices, I opted for a single order Ribeye steak dinner, with baked potato. Others enjoyed London Broil single order and another London Broil all-you-can-eat, and a single order New York Strip steak. The little guy had fish, with a side of mac-n-cheese. The service was adequate, nothing stellar (I still left a healthy tip). A complimentary bread basket was delivered, and a surprise order of breaded mushrooms also made it's way to our table, complimentary of course. Both were very good. I can't say the Ribeye I received was the best cut I have ever had. It did the job. My baked potato was delivered with real butter, as requested. I went to the soup and salad bar to pick out a salad or a soup. The jambalaya stole my heart and I must say, it was most excellent!!! I might go back there just for the jambalaya alone, it was that good! All in all, a solid 4 stars out of 5, leaning higher. The Entertainment coupon I used was $10 off an order of $40 or more, and I was able to use it directly from their android phone app. Even without the coupons available, I found their prices to be very affordable. Don't waste your time! I ordered a carry out crab leg dinner and was extremely disappointed with what I received. The dinner comes with two clusters and I added a third for an additional charge. Just not worth the money. I spent almost $50 and this is what I received (see pic below). It's partly my fault for not checking my food before I left. My friend and I always had this restaurant as our go to place to eat. Yesterday, on the front door there was a sign saying masks were required, as we expected, and we are very compliant. We chose a table where we were not only socially distant from others but ourselves as well. Our server was masked. To our surprise, the manager approached the table within 6 feet, maskless, to ask if we needed anything. I immediately asked him why he wasn't wearing a mask? He walked away. Then another man came up, also maskless, to ask the same thing. Again, we asked where is your mask? This was not good. My friend and I went on our quarterly pilgrimage to "eat until we hate ourselves" and I wanted to try something new. On the recommendation of a family member who recently went and said how great it was, and seeing as how it's been 10+ years since I had been to Harbor House we gave it a go. Service was extremely slow, despite only 3 tables in the place. We started out with our first selection-friend got London Broil and I got shrimp scampi. The scampi was decent, friend was okay with the broil, and the baked potato that was served was your run of the mill potato. The soup/salad bar left a lot to be desired. The seafood chowder was the only thing that was appetizing, the Mac and cheese had seen better days and the rice pudding would have been better had it not been so gelatinous. It was pretty solid. I remember the mushrooms being delicious-but the tempura batter would have been better had it not been so greasy. The fried shrimp was okay, ranch makes everything better. All in all, if you are looking to stuff yourself with delicious food that quickly tastes like regret, spend the same amount of money and take yourself to Fuji Buffet. This place has gone to hell... You can only use Covid for an excuse for so long. I decided to have a dad and kids day ( 18 year ago old, 15 year old, and 4 year old).. I told her no Mac on the buffet she said ok let me check... 15 minutes later she brings the older kids crab legs and my plate out and says they are putting a pan of Mac in right now... Here we all are eating in front of the 4 year old who is starving so she is filling up on bread, ginger ale, and shredded cheese... 20 more minutes go by and the server brings more crab to the table and says " I'm sorry we don't have any Mac and Cheese.. (wtf?) an hour later and the Stoney high server just figured it out! So I have a very very hungry 4 year old who is now going to try fish sticks ( or what I thought was going to be fish sticks).. when it came out I was told it's cod.. I inspect because I notice it doesn't look ANYTHING like cod! It ends up being chopped up fried perch with a couple bones! For a 4 year old who wanted Mac and cheese! It's now been over an hour and a half, everyone else is done eating and the manager "Pete" comes over to say sorry and he will take the fish parts off the bill! Are you f$cking kidding me! Came here on Christmas night, made a reservation through Opentable for 4 at 6:45. Got to the host stand, nobody there for five minutes. Host got there, took us to table which she had to ask the busboy for a rag to wipe down. We were not give menus nor was a server to our table for fifteen minutes. We called nearby waitresses three times until a server nearby said she would just take us for waiting so long. She was a wonderful server but you could tell none of the staff was communicating. The host sat us down but obviously didn't tell anybody we were sat as we waited so long to be tended to and had to wave down multiple servers. Soup and salad bar is good. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo which was delicious, my sister the chicken tenders and my parents the Cajun salmon. The tenders were great, however the gravy for the mashed potatoes is very, very salty. Looked inside of my moms salmon and it was raw. Very pink and fleshy which our server took off the bill and took off another $6 for our long wait. I felt so bad for the staff. I know it was Christmas night and I understand that it'll be busy but I didn't think my family and I would be ignored. This was the first and last time here. Sat down and asked for a extra dirty martini. The waitress came back with a martini and said they were out of olives. The bartender was also the manager and still sent it out with no olives without saying anything. On top of no green olives it tasted like crap and like black olive juice instead of green. Then my boyfriend and I proceeded to give our order and both asked for baked potatoes. The waitress came back and said there would not be any baked potatoes ready for a half hour. If I could do a zero star rating I would. !st thing 1st, our trip started off poorly when I arrived to the restaurant as a party of 12 (reservations made prior) and we were not even able to be seated together. We were told that they had other parties too and that's why we were seated at two different tables. Now personally, my thought is if you were not able to accommodate us you should've never accepted the reservation. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know if someone is booking a reservation they, most likely, would like to sit together. 2nd- We sat down and ordered the "all you can eat" and the waitress was up front with us and said another large party just put their order in and it may take a little while longer than normal. This is not our 1st time here. In fact we frequently come to this location. No biggie about the wait except for the fact that even though there was a large party the restaurant was still not more than 50% filled. An hour and a half later our order came out! When it came we asked for refills on our drinks (which we never got and had to go to the bar ourselves and ask for), some food was hot some was cold, the shrimp was literally mealy from either sitting too long or being re-heated several times, and our waitress (Diane) was no where to be found. At this point I asked if we could talk to a manager (which I rarely do). Add another 25min wait. When the "manager" finally came over I explained that I was unhappy with service; that I could understand the wait for the food, but there was no reason for us to need to get our own refills (especially if no food was coming out) and that this was not our first time there, but most likely would be our last. I also explained that we live literally minutes from the Detroit location and that we choose to go there because the food/service is usually better. Her response was "We are" and I said "Well not today; Detroit is winning". She walked away and said she'd see if she could do something on our bill, but NEVER came back to check on us. Again, food came out cold, shrimp came out mealy, and orders never showed up. It was a mess. We again had to ask the waitress several times for refills and ask again when those never came. Finally we gave up and were ready to leave. One of our guests asked for a carry out box for their meal (not all you can eat) and we waited another 20min for it. Service was horrendous. When the waitress finally came with our bills nothing was adjusted....no percentage off, not even free drinks. Nothing. I just wanted to get out of there. You already ruined our family's first meal together (adoption was just completed) and I was ready to go. Again, after about 20 min with our cards she returned and gave us the copy to sign with no pen. I said "If you want this signed I'm gonna need a pen". The waitress came back crappy and said "I don't know what I did to make you so mad" and I said "the service here today was horrible- the food came out cold and took forever and the other large party had nothing to do with our drinks not being refilled". She started to argue with me and I finally said "You should probably just go; you already got a tip and was a crappy waitress". I'm telling anyone--do not waste your time or money. There are other places with far better food and sincere, friendly wait staff. Never in my life have I had such a poor service. I will NEVER go back to this place. The all-you-can-eat menu is really unnecessary, because 1 serving and a trip to the salad bar is going to be too much food for the vast majority of people. The food is prepared for each serving, not on a buffet line, so each plate is fresh. There is a wide variety of seafood available, but the real secret is the lunch menu. At current prices (3/27/16), lunch is $6.99, plus drink and you can add the salad bar for $2.99, or the salad bar alone for $7.99. This includes bread and a sizable appetizer of fried mushrooms. The salad bar includes several hot items, usually homemade mac & cheese, wings, and a very authentic spicy sausage gumbo. Seriously, the gumbo alone should be an available entree item. I know in recent years, this place struggled with quality control, but they seem to have found a good manager and some people in the kitchen that know what they're doing, so if it has disappointed you in the past, give them another chance. read more

We have been to the downtown location a couple times and I must say that this location is just tons better. The comments to reviewers by the manager at the other location is what drove us to trying this one. Couple issues to discuss, to begin with we are uncertain the lobster addition was actually Maine Lobster.. It was sadly overcooked and this is what may have ruined the flavor. My husband Ed works all the time, we really don't get to hang out. However, my mom watched our kids so we could go to crabby Monday at Harbor House. By accident, Ed got the wrong time. He thought they closed at midnight but they actually closed at 11. We arrived at 10:58 and I was sure that we wouldn't get in. To my surprise, the owner allowed us to come in. The owner and cook were so nice. Everybody was gone but they welcomed us in. The crab legs were awesome and we got to choose a side. Until we were stuffed, they allowed us to eat as much as we wanted. The owner could have easily said no but his kindness garnered him a handsome tip along with a customer for life. My rating should be in two parts. The regular "all you can eat" menu was fantastic! 5 stars! Their fried shrimp is crispy, juicy, tasty. The london broil is to die for! The mushrooms at the table and the salad bar is good for a place you don't want to get full on something other than your main course. Now for the bad part - If I could give 0 stars I would. I went there wanting crab legs. It was a Monday so they were on sale for additional $11. Regularly they are $18 more. They were AWFUL!! I mean really awful. They were totally water logged. Went to Harbor House for my cousins birthday. I would give a lot of background but I'll get straight to the point because I'm still here and a bit ticked. The waitress was rude, not personable, and short. ... We ordered our food and she talked to a few of us as if we were slow. I canceled my order and made it simpler after finding out the All You Can Eat salad option only was out iceberg lettuce. I ordered a Caesar and ribs. She came back and told us that I couldn't have the Caesar either because all the Romaine they had was mixed with iceberg for the salad bar. ... that doesn't seem realistic but if it's true that's silly since Caesar salad is on the menu. I canceled my order altogether. Salad apparently is hard to come by, as is decent service. EDIT: Out of the other 8 people at the table 5 of them had complaints about the food. It wasn't very good. Ok so not to bad, my friend gave a 7 out of 10, me I was thinking closer to a 6 point for Harbor House rating. We went on a Saturday evening and was able to get in quickly, we gave our order to the server. Crab legs were on our mind to start with, snow crab is what was brought out to us. They tasted good but the food took 35 minuets to start coming to our table. While waiting patiently they started with some fried mushrooms. I think they want you to get full on the salad bar first before the good stuff comes out. The salad bar was just okay, no thrills there. Once the food started coming out they stayed on the ball and kept the food flowing. I also stayed mostly with the seafood had the cod, catfish and perch. Honestly, I don't believe that the perch was from a lake as advertised. Real lake perch has a very small filet, but mine was very large but tasted good anyway. So the roast beef was cooked medium and was good. So prior to last night it was about 7-8 years since I was there and seems like nothing has changed. They really need to tighten up on the restaurant, just seems like it is run down, old and crusty around the edges. So I probably won't come back anytime soon but I would like to try the downtown Detroit restaurant, I'm told that is the better out of the two. read more

I ate here a few weeks ago. The food was just decent. However, my biggest gripe with this restaurant is the 'all you can eat' moniker. The way their 'all you can eat' system works is: Waitress takes your order of food. When you finish your plate, waitress comes back to take your next order. When you finish that plate, then waitress comes back to take another order, and another, and so on. The only problem is, you have to wait 15 - 20 minutes between each plate. Which means you are left sitting at the table just waiting... a lot. It's almost as if they go slow on purpose in order to limit the amount of food you consume. The other problem is that I came in with a party of 10 people. So if you can imagine, our poor waitress had to take 10 orders on 5 separate occasions. When that same waitress has two other tables (with about 10 people each), this means she has to take 30 orders at a time, 4 - 5 times. This is extremely confusing not just for the customer, but also for the waitress because we must have received 4 - 5 wrong orders. This is not the waitress' fault (she was very gracious and was trying her best), it is just a bad business model. I understand the need to save on food waste, but this comes at the expense of the customer's dining experience. Overall, our party of 10 were at the restaurant for a total of 3 hours, when it really should have only taken about an hour and a half, or less. The entire experience was a very slow, and disorganized mess. If the owners were smart, they would just turn the place into a buffet, or figure out a more efficient (and effective way) to take orders. (Perhaps have order slips at the table that the customer fills out themselves). There would be a lot less customers waiting for their food. Customers would eat quicker and be in and out of the restaurant at a quicker rate; which in turn would allow more business to flow through the door. I wanted to like this place, but overall, I just can't recommend it. Our waitress was great (for the mess that she was dealt); I can't say the same for our hostess (who gave my party the most unfriendly, nasty stare upon us entering the restaurant). And the food just doesn't taste good enough to endure the long, slow wait times. read more

We didn't even get seated. Yes it's Fathers Day and it's crowded. We did have a 4:00 reservation though. It's now 4:30 and we are leaving the premises. It is 95 degrees outside AND inside. People are everywhere, it's chaotic and the hostess is at least 90 years old (no offense super seniors). My advice would be not to accept reservations beyond what you can accommodate. Have been coming here for years and years. Had a craving for crab. Took the family in for a treat and was pretty shocked to find the crab prices were $75 for all you can eat and $70 for the Monday special. The crab tonight was just ok, NOT justifiable for $70. The service was awesome from the hostess to our server and the busser so no complaints there. The prices were astronomical, yes it is due to Covid, however, if those prices don't go down in the near future I don't know how they will be able to stay in business. It took me to physically get up to approach the hostess to have a waitress appointed to us which took another 10 minutes. The waitress finally came to our table asking if we were ready of course we said yes. On the menu it says all you can eat $23 so we were like well we will take the all you can eat crab legs she then stated that does NOT include the crab legs which is what we came for. So now we asked for a little more time to look over then menu. She then takes more 10 minutes to come back to table after looking at us constantly and not seeing we were okay! I mean I understand if the establishment was busy but it was nowhere near busy or full. But we decided to do all you can eat Alaskan Snow crab and we share it. SHE THEN STATES WE COULD NOT SHARE THE FREAKIN CRAB LEGS! As the table behind us and the next table are sharing. I will not be returning unless the service is trained in better customer service and the menu states things that the customers don't know and won't waste our time. - Sincerely severally hungry customers. read more
