Awesome place, cozy and comfy. We were here on a cold rainy day but still loved it. Our drinks were great, the service is wonderful and mostly talked about how great it would be in the summer as we looked at all the great outdoor seating. We had eaten lunch before finding it so we just had snacks but they were very good as we watched all the amazing food come directly out of the kitchen. Horrible experience dining here. Started out ok with crab cakes which came quickly and were good. Then we waited a really long time for our entrees with drinks that weren't refilled and they didn't bring our salads until we asked a second time after entrees were delivered. They messed up my friend's sandwich, leave the ham off and add lettuce, tomatoes, raw onion and banana peppers. Back to the kitchen where they pulled off the ham and threw a slice of cheese on top. She didn't want the salad which arrived late and asked for a to go soup and wanted mayo and a go box. Surcharges for all the extras including things they ran out of. We surprisingly had a really bad experience with our waitress. I realize that everyone has a bad day, but she made us really uncomfortable. We were there for brunch and all got coffee when we asked for cream, she said they thought they were all out. We were really surprised since it was breakfast time and when we asked if we could change our order to soda, she said she would look in the back for cream or we could have milk. I asked if they had ice coffee and she said they had nitro coffee and when I asked her what the was she said she didn't know. A few minutes later another waitress brought a bowl of half and half. She continued to be rude and I'm not sure why. The eggs Benedict were ok, one egg was hard poached and the other was under poached. The potatoes were delicious. read more

Traveling from New Orleans to Florida along the Gulf Coast, and being from Long Beach, CA, I couldn't resist stopping off in Long Beach, Mississippi for lunch. This is a lovely little town situated on the Golf of Mexico. It has a quaint downtown, where the main street dead-ends at the water. The Harbor View Cafe sits there with a great view. This cafe appears to be very popular, as it was quite full and had plenty of employees to ensure prompt and courteous ("Southern Hospitality") service. The menu provides lots of good options...I decided to try the homemade chicken salad sandwich on a croissant . The chicken salad is made with mayonnaise, pecans and apples . It was ample and delicious. It was served with French fries, that were nice and crispy. I ordered coffee to drink, and have to say that it was excellent! My waitress told me it is called "Coast Roast"....I don't what that means exactly, but it was delicious. Prices in this Long Beach were quite a bit more reasonable than in my Long Beach. I'm very glad that I decided to venture off the I-10 to visit this "sister city"! read more

We are looking to open a business in Long Beach and are trying restaurants out, the server was really nice, Poboy and Burger we got was good, my fries were extremely over seasoned though. I also wouldn't recommend the fried green tomatoes. Desserts, I wish they would cover the cakes, we got a slice and it was extremely dry. Seafood Soup was very good as well as the Eggplant Fries but that was about it. Our server made many errors. We ordered water without lemon and received lemon. My sandwich was ordered with green peppers added and plain without dressing. Sandwich arrived with heavy mayo, lettuce and tomato, and no green peppers. When I informed server of error she admitted it was her fault and offered to take sandwich back. I hate wasting food and did not want to wait for a reorder so I declined. We were not offered a discount, were still charged for the extra green peppers, nor were we offered a dessert or any other compensation. Sandwich was soso at best. Two meals in a row that were great! The service with a smile comes easy to Brooke. We enjoyed our prime rib night on Wednesday so much that we came back for burger and milkshake night! Two for two! That never happens!!! This is a must if you're in the area. The desserts are homemade and totally worth saving room for... get that doggie bag and feed your sweet tooth. This place is definitely middle of the pack, nothing special but good consistent food and coffee. It's got a very typical menu, nothing special. I have o been for brunch and each time it's been good but I've not been wowed or blown away. If you're looking for a solid breakfast or brunch and don't want to break the bank I recommend! I returned again but for lunch this time. I got the Malibu sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband got the Biloxi Cheesesteak with Eggplant fries and coleslaw. Once again, the food was just okay. Service was pretty slow (understandable since we came at 1 for lunch) but we never got silverware and had to ask for napkins. The cafe is tastefully decorated and pleasing. The service was amazing , greeted immediately and seated at a clean table. The menu is large but not not to overwhelming. Just wanted a lite bite so I was drawn to their salad selection not realizing it's A BIG SALAD.the key lime salad was the unusual creation that drew my attention and it's was delicious. A combination of grapes, pineapple, raisins, tortilla chips and super fresh lettuce with my choice of the key lime dressing was memorable. The dressing very light but had the citrus flavor to compliment grilled shrimp, and a lot of shrimp. I wanted to order a dessert but was so full not in the realm of possibility. Regret didn't get a piece of pie to go , if they put half the effort in dessert they do in their salads I might have missed an amazing dessert. While in the area for a few days, stopped here for lunch. Hubs had a roast beef po-boy that was covered in gravy. By the end, he cut it up and ate with fork! I ordered their Philly cheesesteak. Both were served on soft hoagie rolls vs. French bread and served with their homemade chips. Other than a few pieces of meat for our dog, we ate every bite!! Service was excellent, prices were average. Loved the choice of sitting outside under porch with view of the bay... those tables were full so opted for inside dining rather than wait. Harbor View is a good place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Located a couple of blocks from the beach, The Harbor View Cafe is a popular place. Expect it to be crowded whenever you visit. Like the crowds, the restaurant itself is large so they can physically accommodate a lot of people, but service does suffer when they are crowded. I'd suggest visiting at off peak times to receive better service with little delay. The main dining area is a large, open room filled with tables. Because it's so large, noise can be a problem if the restaurant is full. The best place to sit would be along the outside wrap around porch if the weather is nice. The food has ranged from good to very good. My favorite meal here has been breakfast. The puled pork benedict is very good as are their omelets. The prices are slightly higher than other breakfast spots along the coast, but I'm sure this large, modern building wasn't cheap. If you're looking for a fancier breakfast along the coast, Harbor View should be on your list. Note: While there is a slight view from the porch, most seating areas do not have a view. If you're looking for a beach view, you'll need to either sit on the porch or head elsewhere. read more

Being frequent visitors to the Mississippi Gulf Coast (seriously can't get enough of that area) we are always on the lookout for new spots to dine. Thanks to Jen B's review we wandered in here the morning of our last day here recently. Score! Harbor View is a pretty restaurant with great views of the beach and gulf and a wrap around porch with awesome patio seating. I want to set up camp and just move in onto that patio. Seriously. It's that lovely. The food here was great, too. I had the Everything Omelette* and a Bloody Mary with a side of bacon. Everything was great but the bacon. Oh my. It was thick and crispy just how I like it and not a soggy (eww) piece was to be found. Nothing worse than a fatty, soggy piece of bacon. The bloody Mary was not the best or strongest I've ever had but hey. I've never really met a Bloody Mary I didn't like. Service was slow but they were slammed this Sunday morning. Our food came quickly but locating our waitress was not easy when we needed her. Overall, I'd go here again in a heartbeat and think you should too! *Everything Omlette-ham, sausage, cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, heaven dust. Ok, I made that last ingredient up. Just get it.
