I liked how my meal came displayed on a rectangle tray compared to a round plate. The ribs were good but not falling off the bone, the sauce was savory and tangy, my honey chicken, it was crispy and nicely seasoned. Just made It for happy hour Rum Punch. First time here. Came in for a nice lunch/dinner with family that's in town. Found it by googling restaurants near me and after reading up on it I had to try it out. The place is a nice medium sized restaurant with a chill vibe. The staff was friendly and informative in describing items on the menu. I started off with a Pina Colada and and order of the Jerk Mango Wings. I'm not very spice tolerant but I was eating the bone clean along with my fingers lol. My sister did the Buffalo Mac & Cheese (didn't try). For our entrées were, the Seaside Combo, The Honey Grilled Salmon, The Chicken & Rib Combo and I had the Brisket & Pulled Pork Combo with Mac & cheese and collard greens. The pulled pork was tender and season really well, even though I only has 2 small pieces of the brisket I can say it was damn good. It was falling off my fork good. To celebrate my graduation from law school and my birthday in tandem, my awesome brother-in-law and his lovely wife took me to this seemingly-inconspicuous eatery nestled in Harlem. This location used to be the spot! Everything used to be top notch. From the management to the ambience to the food. Now, when I visit this establishment everything's horrible. I patroned this establishment April 25th, 2025-my birthday. I stood in a semi crowded restaurant for about 15 minutes without being noticed by a "bartender" and I was dressed up...before going to the Bouncer/Host and asking him if I could be seated. The waiter or whatever you want to call him was rushing me from the establishment as I was by myself. The catfish bites I ordered were horrible. The only good thing about my experience was my drink a Henny Colada. The only reason I still spend here infrequently is because of the drinks. So on my visit today, 11/16/25 at 4:00 PM today I only sat in the restaurant for about 10 to 15 minutes when a manager came and asked me for my order. I told him that I wanted to barbecue ribs and shrimp combo with the Hennessy colada after he took my order I sat down for about another 7-10 minutes and my food was ready. I didn't think nothing of it. I took a few more minutes add seasoning and butter on my food. Once I was ready to eat I took a bite of the ribs and it was warm or cold like they just didn't come out from the grill or the oven. I asked for the manager I complained to him telling him I only sat down for about 10 to 15 minutes, and my food was brought to me instead of listening to what I was complaining about. He asked me do I want him to give me more food that wasn't the point I wanted to ask him why did my food come out so ready to eat and my food was still cold the only thing that was hot on the plate was the sweet potato fries the cornbread wasn't even hot. The corn was still hot. A little bit. The ribs wasn't edible. I told the manager that he came back, took my ribs and put them in the microwave. I also shared with the manager that I'm a New York State food handler and he didn't care because he said you told me to get out your face right. I said no I need your name so please give me your name please as the manager. He refused again to give me his name and kept shoving the bill in my face. Like can you just pay for your drink and leave that's not good customer service and the management needs to be looked into respectfully. I'm from Harlem New York City, born and raised, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna go somewhere we're having been born for all my life and the service of where I gonna spend my money at is not being respectful. After refusing to want any of the service, the management kept shoving the bill in my face, forcing me to pore my drink into A to go cup. Ate at Harlem bbq on a Friday evening. I had the Hennessy colada and the chicken and ribs plate. The Hennessy colada was huge and it was strong. You definitely can taste the Hennessy and they give you a shot on the side. The food was good too. The chicken was fried to perfection. You can choose between bbq, a jerk sauce or honey fried. I got the honey fried and it was so good, nice and crispy with a hint of sweetness. I am not a huge lover of ribs but they were good either way. I love that they had some crispy pieces. Right around the corner. Why not? Walking in I had a good feeling. The place was quiet, maybe 5-6 people. There were two staff, not moving very quickly. Nobody came to seat me or talk for 5 minutes. Eventually I motioned to the bartender if I could sit and order at the bar. She was barely communicating but I got it, and went over to the bar. She really couldn't be bothered much to put attention on the guests, and felt a bit depressed. I eventually ordered a combo plate and Caesar salad. Food came after a long while and I was ready to dive into the Caesar when I saw that the dressing was in a plastic container on the side. The salad was piled high, but I had no way to dress it and I was eating in house. I motioned for the bartender to come over and with as little pretense as I could muster I explained that I'd love if they would dress the salad. She didn't get it. She said I was supposed to do it. How? She did not know. She took the salad and returned with a dressed salad. Not so hard. The ribs were great. Tender and flavorful. Corn bread also great. No butter though which was odd. I eventually got some but it was in these tiny frozen packs. So weird for the food to be so decent coming out of the kitchen but the rest of the place to be so unsupportive when that's the easiest part. Sweet potato fries were also top notch. This is probably one of my favorite spots in Harlem. It's not as iconic as many of the famous Harlem restaurants that dominate the food blog space, but the music is good, food/drinks are great, and somehow, the price is even better. You can really get your money's worth at this restaurant without having to sacrifice quality. I've been here quite a few times and I look forward to going back. I love this place and so do my friends and family. The food is what you would expect from a barbecue spot- down home Southern comfort food. The portions are large and the prices are affordable. I ordered the 10 piece bonless wings in honey and mango jerk and my brother got the rib and chicken combo. We also got the Harlem Size Mango Piña Colados. The menu has its similarities to Dallas BBQ however trust and believe the food here is fresher and 100 times more flavorful. The drinks here are also much better in regards to being able to customize flavors a Harlem Size will run you around $10 and they're quite strong. A quintessential "urban" place near the ABCD 125th train stop. I say "urban" because I'm not sure if it's black owned, but black people attend the place regularly. The music reflects the patrons, the Large TVs have spots while the music blasts loud enough to jam to while you can still have conversation. A rustic setup with prices to match. ANYWAYS we both had a side of Mac and cheese which was the most disappointing part of our entire meal. The Mac and cheese only had cheese on the top. There was no cheese sauce. Hidden under a construction scaffolding, is where you find this really good BBQ joint. When you go inside the bar and dining room area don't look like much but the food definitely makes up for it. I ordered the Wings and Baby Back Ribs Combo with Collard Greens and Mac n Cheese. The Collard Greens tasted super fresh and in most places there watery or too dry but here there just fine. Ordered take out last weekend and wasn't pleased. I used to come here BC ( before corona) and everything was delicious especially their cornbread and mac and cheese. I ordered a catfish sandwich with a side of mac and cheese and cornbread and unfortunately only ate a couple of bites and had to discard the rest. The catfish sandwich was greasy and was fried really hard. The mac and cheese just wasn't it. Their service is great, they have a friendly staff but their food has lost something since the pandemic. I came here to get a bite to eat before seeing a movie. It took awhile for the waiter to come to is and we were in a rush so that was kind of annoying. You are supposed to get 10% off with a yelp check in and the waiter acted like no such thing existed. We got the whole "let me check with my manager but I don't think so" talk. And good thing I wasn't. I think they gave 3 small shrimp per taco. The service is very poor where they have a about one or two servers and it gets very busy on Fridays and Saturdays they do not care about the people that come in or out their establishment because I guess they keep the money going. I was there on Friday, March 18 with a friend and it was jam packed people were so loud and we could barely hear ourselves there were no mask and people were getting into arguments fights and disagreements people also we're bringing their kids in strollers and just like smaller kids in general to this place to drink at the bar. The food takes forever to be brought out to you even if you just order chicken wings. They allow people to take cups to go and they are basically a rip off version of Dallas BBQ but charging the same amount for the food and drinks so i'd really like appreciate it and want to let you guys know so you really don't waste your time and money so with that being said they don't have any updated new furniture everything is old and ripped and dirty.
