I went back and forth about leaving this review because part of me wanted to be a gatekeeper. But since mama didn't raise a gatekeeper, here it is! This spot has no frills, there's zero ambiance. You walk in, you order, and you walk out. The service? Polite and fast, no complaints. But the most important part? The food SLAPSSS! Now, I won't spill my favorite thing to order (I can't give everything away ), but what I will say is everything I've tried is delicioso and reasonably priced. Food is good but the tomato sauce in the moro needs to stop. It's not good at all, it ruins the entire dish. I ordered pollo guisado (tan bueno, rico, 'to) But the taste of bland tomato sauce ruined the delicious flavor of the pollo guisado. That was horrible, sorry to say. That moro has no flavor other than tomato sauce that seems to be just dumped in the pot without measuring or adding any seasonings. This is my second time ordering moro from Polanco's and it came out like that. Just walking by this place makes my mouth water because of how good it smells. Their roasted chicken is delicious and cheap, $4 for a half and $8 for a whole. It comes with a little container of garlic sauce that's I'm not really a fan of; it's super watery. The chicken is good enough by itself though! It's best as a takeout place. There are about 2 small tables inside, but it's a super small place and always crowded and hot. read more

I used to really like Polanco but I hated going in there because they never could seem to notice that a customer (namely me!) was waiting to order. Every.single.time I went in there were rude so I just quit spending my money them. Plus, I would try to call them to request delivery and they never -ever - ever picked up their phone. The food was just alright. Not great. I now go around the corner to Grini's when I want some good Spanish food or a great salad. Some of the best Latino food around. The red beans are slammin'. The roast chicken is expertly seasoned, and stewed chicken or beef off the charts good. When you order a green salad, it's actually green and not a container full of pale iceberg lettuce. There is often a line because the folks in the nabe know that it is worth the wait. The servings are hearty and once your order is placed, they get you out fairly quickly. You can smell the good food when you pass this tiny take out place, and it lures you in. read more

I used to always purchase chicken soup from this restaurant but I will never eat here again! On 3/24/16 my boyfriend ordered (via phone) rice, beans with chicken and me, him, our daughter, and his mother all got food poisoning! I went to the ER and had to get antibiotics because they said feces was in our food! Most likely someone did not wash their hands before delivering our food!
