Cool atmosphere- seemed like an old converted house ... Cozy. The burger wrap was very very good with a somewhat Smokey flavor A+ The coleslaw was also much better than average. I liked that it was light on mayo and healthier! Nice zing. Went to Harper's Tavern for Thanksgiving. They had a traditional thanksgiving feast and fish and ham for those that don't eat turkey. It is a buffet. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Water glass was never empty and as soon as you finished your plate it was taken away. This place is now my familys go to place for our Thanksgiving meal. Thankyou Harper's Tavern for a great experience and delicious food. We will definitely be back soon. read more

We found ourselves driving in PA unexpectedly (thanks to a cancelled flight) and this was a fantastic stop for lunch. The building is charming, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious. First time back since my wife and I were accosted in the bar area by a drunken midget pipeline worker several years ago. I had the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich which came out on a small bun with a small slice of greenish tomato a little lettuce and was the same size as a McDonald's filet of fish. The crab cake looked like it was scooped up with an ice cream scooper and plopped down on the bun. I didn't see lumps of anything in it especially crab meat and it had a really fishy taste to go with my semi burnt fries. On 11/10 I made my second visit to Harper's Tavern and as I tend to do I ordered the same meal as the first visit. I had the Reuben sandwich, onion rings, and a lemonade. The lemonade tasted like Country Time powder mix and not strong in flavor but not too weak. The onion rings were crisp hot and tasty, same as the first visit. The Reuben was better than my first visit, the quality was just as good but this time it contained more corned beef. I love a good sandwich that spills out extra for me to enjoy later. The service is good. The staff is friendly and for a tavern that's what I expect. It is nice to get stellar service at small locally owned places but it isn't the norm. The Ambiance of the Tavern is very appealing to those who enjoy the late 18th/early 19th century architecture, wood furniture and bar, and dim lighting. read more

We had a wonderful prime rib dinner last night. It started with a crab soup, with large whole pcs of crab. Our prime rib was substantial pieces cooked to perfection! Fresh string beans again cooked perfectly. My second side was the rice, I don't think I need to order it again. My husband loved it so it's a matter of taste.We had wonderful leftovers for our lunch today. The prices may seem a bit much for you, however the quality of the food is superior. The waitresses are very good,knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. Tables are constantly being cleaned up so you never need to worry about where your dirty dish is going to go. Miranda was the bartender and made us a great Bloody Mary! Our meal here hit the spot after a full day at Hershey Park! The grilled chicken was well seasoned & cooked perfectly, and the generous helping of homemade mashed potatoes was delish! We drove into town from Boston to visit friends and arrived at 8:40pm, not knowing they closed the kitchen at 9. They were so nice and accommodated our group of 7 under the premise we were able to order within 10 min. The waitress was very kind and understanding which we personally were very thankful and grateful for given we had just driven 6.5 hours to get there. The drinks and food came out swiftly. My Caesar salad was great, not too much dressing and the crotons were admittedly very tasty. The chicken parm hit the spot, the chicken was definitely sliced thin but remained crispy. It was a big overdone but the sauce countered it. The portion was huge and filling, I was unable to eat it all. The garlic bread was very flavorful as well. The onion rings were nice and crispy. The place itself is quaint and definitely gives the tavern vibe, especially on the bar side. We sat in the dining room with thoughtful antique decor. The food is always quite good. The staff is generally very friendly and kind. I have witnessed a couple of times where they went out of their way to bring a smile to the face of a regular. My husband and I always stop here for a meal when we pass through on our way to our former home - Connecticut. My one and only issue is that the owner completely ignores the folk she doesn't know. We are not acknowledged at all and it feels weird and rude! I hope she reads this and makes it a point to improve relations with strangers who are dropping a good amount of green in her establishment. read more

It definitely has that charm inside, bar is redone. But the menu gives fancy upscale vibes, the service is truly the issue at hole. We contemplated going to sit at the bar and we should of. We stopped here on the way home from NY. It was barely a mile off I-81 but not advertised on any sign. I found it on google maps. I ordered their filet, rare, with mixed vegetables and mixed salad. My husband ordered their NY Strip with the scallops with fries and a side salad. The salad was ok. It wasn't the freshest. There were bits of lettuce that were bad. My husband said his steak was ok but his scallops were fantastic. My steak was very tender but cooked strangely. In the middle of the steak it was cooked through but one side was rare. The other side was medium-rare. I'm not quite sure how they did that. I could only eat about 1/3 of because it was such a large serving. So I ate the rare part, and my husband quite enjoyed the rest. The vegetables were cooked English style. (Boiled until they are mush). The service was very slow. The server was polite. The food came out quickly after we ordered. It was just getting the server's attention to order, having him bring us what we needed (butter, salt/pepper, napkins) and the check that took a long time. read more

Honestly. I'm giving this place a 5 star. It was my first time here and I came in the wrong door. Someone quickly told me to follow them and showed to the front. But anyways On to the food lol. I was told the specials when I sat down and decided to go with one of them. I had the swordfish with the wild rice and baked potato. First off the fish wasn't dry and bland like I have had before at other places. The juiciness and flavor was amazing. The portion was also perfect. The wild rice and baked potato was also very good. Didn't have anything bad to say about the food! The staff and atmosphere was great too. I wish I could remember the name of my waitress because she was great!! We arranged for a funeral luncheon after my mother's interment at Indiantown Gap Cemetery. I was worried about the head count because I had no idea who would be coming up for the interment. I was assured that the tavern dealt with this a lot and to just call when we had a final head count. We came in a little under but could take the extra food home with us, which we did. When we arrived, the tables were set, the food was hot and the very kind servers started taking drink orders. We had a buffet of baked ziti, roast beef, salad and potatoes. Everything was excellent, hot and well prepared. This is a great restaurant for a small luncheon or party. Thank you so much for making a very hard day a little easier for us. read more

This historical tavern is really cool and the food and service are fantastic. It was built in the early 1800s and from what I was told, it used to be a stopping point for cowboys who were passing through where they could eat, stay overnight, and have a nice place for their horses to rest. I really enjoyed my entrée of the blackened tuna steak salad with vinaigrette. It was cooked perfectly just as requested, medium well, seasoned just right, and the salad ingredients were super fresh. Our server was fantastic. We were in PA visiting family, so I won't be able to visit again for a while, but my family who lives nearby has made this place their regular spot for dinner, and I can understand why. read more

The food, ambience, and servers are amazing. It was our haunt for decades. The current owner, however, is toxic. We tolerated her berating of her employees in front of us for years. The portobello burger was excellent, the local Troeg's beer was a perfect compliment, the service was friendly, and the space was inviting. I sat at the bar, and the bartender (Miranda, according to my receipt) was very professional--did several little things that make a good/experienced server--and also very friendly and sweet. Perfect rest stop--only a couple minutes off I-81, and there's a gas station/convenience store close by (Funck's). I'll definitely go back next time I'm driving that way. Thanks! I enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops very much. They were perfectly done. The shrimp cocktail was bland and must have been waiting in the fridge for more than a day. My husband's pork chop, my salmon, and the veggies were wonderful. The veggies were perfectly steamed and came in a sauce that was creamy and hot. The service was great. Several attentive servers worked together to ensure that everything was as good as can be. This restaurant is in a very old house that is beautiful with lots of intimate rooms. Visited 04/02/2019 Stopped here after taking a little shopping detour on our way home from Florida. Very old establishment dating back to the 1800s and before. Very cool place with lots of VERY old pictures all over the place. We both had cheeseburgers... really, really good cheeseburgers. They make em out of chuck, brisket and short ribs. Awesome! I had mine "California style'... lettuce, tomato and raw onion. My wife likes her 'bleu' cheesburger... so that's what she had. Both done perfectly (med/rare) and just delicious. We shared some onion rings and sweet potato fries which were also very good. Oh! I started with their Cuban black bean soup which also was excellent.
