We celebrated my Father's birthday here last night and couldn't have been happier! The service was wonderful, we were well tended to and everyone was so nice and celebratory - - even after I brought a balloon bouquet to complicate the situation! The food was incredible! We started with the crab dip - DELICIOUS - and everyone was happy with their mains (my filet mignon sliders with brie were worth not ordering seafood for). For dessert they were incredibly accommodating of us bringing a specialty cake... we had a great time and are looking forward to returning again! read more

My husband and I were excited to try Harpers. We made a last minute reservation that we didn't need at the 6 o'clock hour. It was a nice day so we sat at a table outside on the bar side. Harpers needs a lot of work. Nice kids running the place but untrained. No trained bartender. We must have had 6 different people come to our table. I had to snag kids to ask for everything. They brought food with no setups, no salt and pepper, no napkins, no ketchup etc... etc... We ordered mussels, the chicken sandwich, and rockfish tacos. Mussels were good. Chicken and rockfish were very dry and just not good. No one asked how the food was or checked on us at all. We asked about the steak prices ... filet was cheapest at $48. New York was $88 and went up from there to the Tomahawk for 2 at $160. I certainly would never spend that kind of money there with the untrained staff that we saw. It is a nice setting. Maybe, if they get their act together, we will go back for appetisers and wine. read more

I was part of a party of six that had dinner here recently. All-in-all, the experience was a positive one, but not without some bumps that need to be put out there. We tried several appetizers: The Buffalo Wings, the Philly Rolls & the Baked Brie. All the appetizers were tasty and well proportioned. This alone left us excited for the entrees to come. There were an assortment of entrees ordered: The Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Coconut Shrimp, Filet Mignon & The Apple Spinach Salad. The Lump Crab Cakes were outstanding! Very good flavor, no filler. The Coconut Shrimp were very large and tasty, another home run. The Fillet came out properly cooked and was what you expect from a fillet. Here's where the rub comes in: Those who ordered the Apple Spinach Salad's were asked if they wished to add protein to their salads. My wife said "Yes, I'd like to add shrimp to my salad". Ok, fine... When the salad came out, my wife was perplexed to find the salad include One, yes One Shrimp! When my wife contacted the server about this, she said "Oh, yes, It's $5 per shrimp, so I assumed you just wanted one shrimp." Um.... Really? You're in what is supposed to a high end dining experience and you get one shrimp in your salad? Gives a new meaning to "Shrimp Salad". I'm sorry, but this is just silly. At a minimum, when someone adds a protein to their salad, it should be what the industry believes is a serving size. I would expect at least 4 shrimp, not 1 lonely shrimp. In the end, my wife added 4 more shrimp to her salad to the tune of $20 additional. Thus, making the Apple Spinach Salad just about as expensive as the Jumbo Lump Crap Cake Platter. I will add that the server felt bad for the mixup/lack of communication and brought out a dessert on the house. We were very appreciative of her efforts and not oblivious to the fact that she's just serving what management has decided is appropriate. I really think this "Per Shrimp" policy should be readdressed because it made the whole dinning experience feel cheap and micro managed. I did order coffee at the end of the meal and it came out cold. I didn't even send it back, I just called it a night and moved on. The service was very good, our server was attentive, patient and friendly. The ambiance is ok, it's a very noisy restaurant and I found it hard to talk to everyone at our table. I would prefer a little quieter environment because I have hearing issues, but it wasn't terrible. In the end, a party of six that was drinking mixed drinks and wine ended up spending $90 a head. I don't consider this to be outrageous considering what other restaurants charge, but I expect an excellent experience when spending this type of money. I won't say our experience was terrible, but I also won't say it was excellent. I realize this restaurant is just getting off the ground, so hopefully they can work out the wrinkles and realize areas that need adjustment. With that said, we'll be back again and see if things have improved or are deteriorating. read more

Our recent dining experience at Harper's Waterfront was exceptional. Atmosphere, service, and food were great. Wait staff were polite and attentive. Even the chef checked in on us. Service was timely. Restaurant is off the beaten path and in a beautiful, waterfront setting. We had the surf and turf special (lobster with crab imperial, filet) with peach cobbler for dessert. The food is probably good - but I wouldn't call this place and ask them anything that they aren't prepared for such as "can I place a to go order?". Harper's menu offers wide variety of options, including five or six gluten-free (although they are not marked on the menu, so ask.) We had salmon with cubes of yams prepared with brown sugar in a cool presentation -- it was absolutely delicious. They offer a number of non-alcoholic, mocktails and beers, including Heineken 0. We skipped dessert but we're entertained by other guests enjoying Harpers take on s'more's. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but the way it is presented is enchanting and aromatic! The servers are pleasant and attentive and wear nautical themed uniforms. The decor is fresh and modern with both indoor and outdoor deck seating. Windows fold open to the bar area in warm weather. They have space heaters and tenting that have panels that zip in if it's cool or windy. What a gift happy to find my new favorite spot in Edgewater! read more

I have been here many times, early on the service was good. It seems the staff has changed out since winter. The bar service is terrible, bartenders do not pay attention. I had one bartender who had no idea what she was doing and knew nothing about the drinks or wine, nor would she make any recommendations. It is sad because it is a nice spot, a bit over priced for mostly mediocre food. Some items are pretty good such as the filet, wings and the baked Brie. This is a return visit. Happy to report the evening with our guests was well worth it. Host greeters were eager to welcome and most delightful. The bar staff were polite and eager to inform of the specials. After waiting for our guests to arrive we found the spirits and appetizer of crab soup tasty. After their arrival we were eager to dine and we had the best evening. The decor is well kept and the openness of the inside/outside bar didn't present the flies of my previous experiences. The fall of the year really made a difference. Yeah!! Unfortunately, the surf and turf ran out and we were disappointed. However, our stuffed trout made an enormous impression. It was a hit. My fiancée devoured the crab cakes which were filling and free of breading - very good! The chef visited our table and his approach and conversation made us feel as if he was an old friend. First timers, my wife and I are definitely coming back! Service: Alicia at the bar we thought was a manager because she was so good at handling customers and teaching her staff simultaneously. Great attitude and friendly vibe from all the staff up front. Food: We sat at the bar, drinks were delicious not watered down, shrimp cocktail was surprisingly plump - not frozen revived. I could taste the sea in them! Rockfish tacos were 8 out of 10 with great flavors but wet to dry balance could be mastered by reducing liquid and adding a white sauce. My wife's burger was tasty nothing to complain about, well crafted, and the meat was cooked properly and juicy as they use rib meat, prime chuck, and brisket patties! The side of mushrooms was much too chewy and rubbery for our taste. My wife si a Mac & Cheese connoisseur and reported it was AMAZING! Bread pudding dessert was a nice sweet finish with a sugary glaze and not too dry like other bread puddings. Ambaince: The entire place is very slick, inviting with cool blue trim lighting, and the balcony and view from the bar is priceless. I could imagine when very busy might be difficult to hear with all the glass parallel surfaces. Overall: We go to a LOT of restaurants. Probably too many. This is a great spot to get away from the downtown Annapolis snotty pricks that demand attention and ruin the restaurants in Annapolis with their saving 5 seats with lipstick at ChopTank, and being cunts to good servers because they don't have a fork. We were excited to try Harpers, we need great places to go in the area. They have the style/decor down and I hope they can get the operations smoothed out-uniforms, decor, food presentation are on point. A beautiful Sunday afternoon, we sat outside-so nice-views, breeze, shade! The salmon on my salad was moist, cooked perfectly. My hubs liked his burger. The shrimp cocktail had good flavor, tho the shrimp had a mushy soft texture. Orange crush was pretty good. Surprised, no Signature Cocktail menu? The bumps in the road were: The chix sandwich was supposed to come w/peaches and fried pickles on a biscuit. There was only 1 small slice of peach (needed 3), zero pickles and bottom bun was soggy. We asked for pickles and were told "the kitchen is in the weeds" by the manager, so no pickles. My salad came out w/o dressings on side, burger w/o condiments and it took awhile to get them. My family loves mussels but they were not a hit for us, overly seasoned/spicy w too much turmeric. Server was nice, but the experience was chaotic instead of relaxing. We had planned to stay for dessert but decided to go somewhere else. I hope I can talk my family into trying one more time on a pretty patio day. Let's go Harpers! The decor and the atmosphere is very nice, I love the location of this restaurant. Sadly that was the only pleasant thing about dining at Harpers Waterfront. The service was awful and awkward. We only got a waitress after sitting for 20 mins then asking for the manager for a waiter/waitress. You could tell the waitress was newer and uncomfortable with being a waitress. We got our apps before our drink orders. As for the apps, we had the wings and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was good, but it is also very difficult to mess that dish up. The wings were not good, no crisp to them at all and the sauce had no taste. For the drinks, my brothers and I had an old fashioned. Honestly a very bad old fashioned, not surprised though. Next came the entrees; we had the tomahawk steak, burgers, salmon, corn chowder and some salad. The salad was good, it was just a regular house salad with a house vinaigrette dressing I believe. The burger was awful, McDonald's is better and I'm not even kidding. The salmon dish looked awful but I didn't try it (literally a piece of salmon on a full plate of mashed sweet potatoes). So many things wrong with that, not only taste wise but also aesthetically. Next we have the corn chowder soup, no taste at all. Finally the 180$ tomahawk steak, it was ordered medium and came out VERY RARE! ( I love a good rare steak but not raw). For the taste of the tomahawk, it was the worst steak I've ever had at a restaurant. For 6 people the bill was about 700-800$ and we will never be back. I could have typed so many more things that were very undesirable about this restaurant but I'm done giving this place any more money or time. If you don't believe me go head and check for yourselves, I'm sure it won't be around for very long. read more

The apps were awesome - the Brie was amazing and the salads are fresh and prepared well. Having access to some nice wines is a nice and much needed touch for our area! Visited Harper's Waterfront for the first time last week. It definitely will not be the last. The attention to detail was spot on and evident everywhere you looked. Food was delivered fast and was absolutely delicious. I had a filet that was cooked absolutely perfectly. My dinner mate had a crab cake and said it was amazing. Service was wonderful; attentive but not obtrusive. The views are absolutely spectacular. My family and I celebrated my 70th birthday 4/1 (actual bd is 3/31). Not only was it beautiful, weather was great, our server, Liamz -- sorry if I mispelled -- he was fantastic! Our food was great -- everything was 5-stars! Drinks, appetizers, the meal -- great crabcakes -- all of the meals were great. The bar is beautiful with that blue chandelier -- and the view of the water and the boats. Will definitely be back -- cheers and kudos to the staff and the chef! Our drinks took 15-20 minutes to arrive at our table. The server did not bother bringing an extra plate when requesting to split a salad. The filet tenderloins were chewy and overcooked. The grouper sandwich was underwhelming with a small portion of fish and too much breading. The mashed potatoes were bland. With quite an empty restaurant it took a significant amount of time for us to receive our meal. Lastly we were charged a 3% surcharge for the use of a cc that was not disclosed. We recently had a small birthday party on a Wednesday Locals Night. The local specials were fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful, and they opened up the enclosed deck and had the heat turned up. Local music was a special touch. Wednesday at Harper's Waterfront is awesome! We followed it up with Brunch on Sunday and it was Amazing! I got the crab cake Benedict side of sausage and their Baconator Bloody Mary. I got a crab cake that was extremely dry so I didn't need it but I got charged for it. Ordered a ice cream, but it was so salt to that. Could need it but got charged for it. So my meal was 3 French fries and a Diet Coke and got. I charge for it all will not return ever. read more

The place has only been open 2 months so the service is bound to be a little disorganized. In my option the service was fine, our server was very nice and offered great recommendations. We dined at Harpers last night. It was great. A very pretty restaurant inside - empty when we arrived for a 6 pm outdoor reservation. There were four in our party. The waitress was extremely accommodating and the food delicious. The crabcake had great taste, the salmon done very well, the chicken wings juicy and the mussels, some of the best ever. The chef actually came to say hello and was proud of his endeavor. When we left, back through the indoor area around 7:30 pm, the restaurant was bustling and just about every seat was taken. We had dinner at Harpers Saturday night. Diana was our server. She gave us excellent service and was a joy to have at the table. Melissa checked in with us to make sure we're had all we needed. Chef stopped at table in time to assist with our meal choices. Additional servers assisted in delivering meal items so that everyone's meals arrived at the same time. Seared tuna, broiled trout, crab cakes and short ribs. Generous portions too. Maryland crab soup was very tasty. They were delicious, beautiful and hot, amazing. Wine service was also well delivered. We went there on the spur of the moment so no reservation. Advise they open at 3:00 PM so no lunch menu. They have an elevator for handicapped and it works for wheelchair. They have an outside area you can have a meal and the bar area is both inside and outside. I would recommend if you planned to have dinner make reservations. Nice wine list and a bottle of Bread & Butter Chardonnay which was really nice. Decided since it was early to have appetizers. The crab and artichokes dip was excellent and the naan that it was served with was perfect. My husband had the baked brie with fresh blue and black berries was great. However, if you order that as for the naan vs the bread that was way to hard as you could break a tooth on it. We had the Buffalo wings and some of the best we have had. Our waitress Emma was excellent and made sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely will make this a place to visit again and again. read more

I never leave negative reviews, but I have to say something. Restaurants occasionally have their problems, I understand that, especially new ones. BUT, in this case the food did NOT live up to the price. I had Wagyu 16 oz Strip for $88. First, it was definitely NOT Wagyu. I had problems cutting it and chewing it. No flavor. I've had better steak at Outback. Service staff was friendly and learning, but not there yet. Drinks were very good. NOT coming back! No way, no how! read more
