Crab & artichoke dip
Elaine F.

Harper's had a hiatus last summer and has now reopened. I hosted a happy hour there today with fourteen women. The food was fantastic! People ordered the crab dip, the tuna tower, lamb lollipops, clams, burgers, crab cake, and other items. The happy hour deals are very good. The views are fantastic. Definitely put this place in your list of places to try if you have not been there. The service was friendly and very efficient, even with a bunch of separate checks.

Shrimp 'n' Grits

First trip here, because we were in town for an event. As pescatarians, seafood is our preference. Sunday Brunch menu offered shrimp 'n' grits which included sausage, but they excluded it per our request. It was delicious! Very flavorful! We've had this dish in Charleston and it's difficult to find restaurants north of SC to do it justice. Josh, our waiter, highly recommended it and with one taste, we agreed! Kudos to Chef B Thornton! Beautiful views, friendly service and a delicious meal makes for happy customers!

Food was good. Nice views. But service was surprisingly bad despite not being busy. We waited a while before our server came over. Server never checked on us. Never refilled our waters (I had to go inside and find someone). And the beer I ordered when my entree arrived didn't come out until I was almost finished the meal. Very disappointing.

Crab Cake Benedict

Discovered this gem and so glad we did. The hubby and I like to try new places at least once or twice a month. You never know what to expect with new places but let me tell you.....Harper's Waterfront is legit. Went for brunch today. Beware......the portions are PLENTIFUL and you won't be disappointed. We started with the Fresh Fruit Ice Bowl & Baked Brie. For 2 people.....just order 1 app. We pretty much brought the whole fruit bowl home due to the baked Brie being so amazingly big we couldn't eat all the fruit. I ordered the Steak & Eggs. The quality of that 12 oz NY Strip....that was cooked to a perfect medium...w/ Eggs & Homefries OMG!!! Hubby ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and I knew it was a winner when his eyes rolled to the back of his head after the 1st bite. AGAIN....portions are phenomenal! We each brought half our entrees home. Definitely add Harper's Waterfront to your list of places to visit. You won't regret it. Can't wait to go for dinner.

Just wanted to join everyone else in celebrating Harper's for an awesome dining experience. We got to treat my mother-in-law to an absolutely delicious dinner with incredible service thanks to Diana and a range of delicious entree's courtesy of everyone on the team. Whether the salmon, filet mignon, or the epic crab cakes, everything was on point. And they were also super accommodating in general. Also, did I mention the view and the vibe? Long story short, this was a dinner we won't forget. In all the best ways.

Crab and artichoke dip. Yum!!!!!

Omg my new favorite place. Writing this note as I sit at their bar, solo, enjoying apps and a dark & stormy (or two). The staff is SO FRIENDLY and fun, I already feel (and want to become) a regular. The crab and artichoke dip is the best version I've had. The shrimp are crisp, huge, sweet and fresh. Hats off to Amanda - cool as a cucumber behind a busy bar. You know how sometimes staff unintentionally makes you feel a bit weird as a solo diner? Not here. GM Melissa stopped by to introduce herself and celebrate that I was enjoying some me time.

Peanut butter pie...chef's kiss!!!

This place is AMAZING!!! I rarely ever give 5 but they absolutely earned it. It's situated at a marina and has beautiful views of Lake Ramsey. The outdoor seating is very casual whereas the inside dining room definitely looks a lot more formal. We sat indoors and were quite comfortable. Josh was our server. He was awesome, very attentive, but still gave us space to enjoy the experience. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions which were all spot on. The new GM Doc also walked around greeted the guest, as well as Brian the head Chef. Both very friendly and personable. They took the time to ask your name and made a real effort to get to know you. You definitely felt like you were dining with family. As far as food, we got the pecan smoked wings as our starter. Absolutely delicious. The wood smoked flavor really came through. For my main I got the lobster and shrimp stuffed flounder. It came with green beans and whipped potatoes. The sides were beyond good. Both well seasoned and flavorful. My fish was just ok. A tad dry, but still good. Everything came out of the kitchen fast and hot. We completed our meal with the peanut butter pie. Decadent and rich! Probably the best dessert I've had all season. I believe it's a seasonal dessert, but it definitely deserves a permanent place on the menu. There is absolutely something special about this place. From the staff down to the food everything was amazing. If you're ever in the area, stop on by. You won't be disappointed.

We settled into our table and were welcomed by Shannon, our server. (There was a little confusion about this, but it straightened out.) The restaurant is bright and separated from the well-stocked bar. I had a Sagamore rye neat, and B ordered a glass of the Rioja. If there are oysters on the menu, you know I'll order them. There was a pretty good selection, and I opted for a half dozen Rappahanock oysters. They were excellent, sweet and briny. We each ordered a Caesar salad, but Shannon advised us that it was large enough to be shareable. More than enough. B ordered the pasta with clams, and I choose the Seafood chowder. The chowder was delicious, but B found the pasta to be too peppery for her tastes. Worse, three of the clams were unopened. We brought this to Shannon's attention, and she offered to put in a new order, but B demured, as she was full. At this point, Owner John Hogan came over to the table to chat. He told us the clams would be taken off the bill, and gave us a gift card, hoping we'd return. He stayed at our table for nearly 30 minutes, and we had a wonderfully engaging conversation with him. We will definitely be going back.

The service was good, the ambiance is nice they have indoor and outdoor seating. The dessert trio was mediocre at best. The cheesecake was where we mostly lived the others...should have been saved to never been served again. Nothing more, nothing less. Would I go back, yes I would to try the main dishes. Today we just made a mistake by chosen this for dessert stop.

I had a couple of friends in from Colorado and wanted to expose them to some authentic Maryland seafood on the water without going over to the Eastern Shore. Pirates Cove was the perfect call. Literally dockside in the tucked away town of Galesville, we sat and enjoyed drooling over all the boats. In the winter, there is a great enclosed patio that can be completely opened up in the summer. The dockside bar was closed for the season, but is hopping in the summer months. We ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and main courses to share amongst our group. Everything from the oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and mussels were perfectly prepared and delicious. Hands down the Cream of Crab soup is IMO the best in the Mid-Atlantic. They also have the half Maryland/half Cream of Crab soup option, which is one of my favorite meals. Everyone is still raving about the food and we have some CO converts from Rocky Mountain Oysters to real Maryland oysters! While the food was outstanding, the service was just as good. Our wait staff did a fantastic job walking through the menu to recommend the best options for a true Maryland seafood feast. It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back.

(Tip: Go early or during the weekday to secure outdoor seating) Service: the service is above average to good. Our waitress was sweet, but seemed very much overwhelmed. I can understand, as they seemed genuinely understaffed for the quantity of patrons that they were serving. Great crab ratio & also the bread was freshly baked! I ordered the seafood platter which came with coleslaw, fried fish, a crabcake, french fries & a fried lobster . Very flavorful and also everything was cooked to perfection! It was a nice medley! I enjoyed my meal and my time here. I do want to re-visit to try more items from the menu in the future. Cheers!
