Nice supermarket but 2 consecutive bad experiences with employers make me write this review. Last week I asked for help at the Deli to the employee who was sitting there, I asked him for 3 Lbs of Grilled Herb Turkey Breast, sliced. They guy proceed to try to get me to buy the prepacked boar's head instead. I told him I didn't ask for that and he insisted again! Then I asked him to slice to slice the breast and package it in a plastic bag ( been doing this for 7 years ) and the guy told me he was not allow to do it ! That was the end of my planned dinner. Today I went to the pharmacy to pick up an medication that comes in a 10 ml vial. This was my third trip to try to get the medication, second was Sunday, 4 days ago and the first about 2 week ago. Prescription was sent to them electronically, I received an phone call letting me know my medication was ready for pick up, I show up....no medication. I was told they will order it, no explanation, no apology. Went a second time, I was told medication was ready, I did self pay and used a coupon, step to one side, opened the paper bag to find six 1 ML vials of the medication, not the 10 ml vial ordered. To composite, they charged me as I had received the 10 ML vial, I asked to talk to the pharmacist, his tag name said Daniel, he told me he will order the medication for next day and gave all kind of assurances the medication will be there next day ( Monday ). I got another call on Tuesday, letting me know that the medication was ready for pick up, I went today and the pharmacy tech was giving me the same 6 vials they tried to give me last Sunday, she called the pharmacist, Daniel, who proceed to tell me that they ordered the medication and the vial they received it was expired. So they call me to pick up a medication when they don't have it ready and try , again, to sell me some thing different than ordered. The guy proceed to repeat word by word all the assurances he gave me 4 days ago. Not a simple word of apology for making me go to the store 3 times to waste my time. As result, now I have to try to get a hold a the prescribing physician to write the prescription and send it to another pharmacy. I am not a fan of having my time wasted by inefficient employees who obviously don't care. Where is their costumer service pride? For seven years I had been a costumer of this location, you would expect that having now competition near by with the new Whole Food Supermarket would make administration put emphasis on the little details, including costumer service. That is a sure way to lost a costumer, like they did today with me. read more

Huge store, inadequately staffed. I go there for one product...their bread. Almost half the time the bread inventory is low or empty.

I call this Wegman's East. For nearby corporate folk, this is must-stop lunch place. Need milk for home? Granola bars for the cubicle. Slide into the easy HT parking lot, grab a Redbox movie and go. But for lunch, they have plenty of NoVa-priced choices: $7.99/lb hot lunch bar -- Asian and salad; good sandwich bar, w/ a long lines; and great $5 entrees (w/ 2 sides!). Use the self-checkout to get out fast. But I'm telling you, the lines are so fast, you're out the door plenty fast either way. 'cause, you know, you've got to get back to work. I'm already a huge fan of Harris Teeter as most anyone who's ever talked to me for more than 10 minutes likely knows, so a 5 star for them isn't exactly hard to attain, but believe me this one definitely deserves it more than any HT I've ever been to. Yes, it's a more expensive grocery store than Giant or Safeway or any of the other bargain shops, but as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for, and what you pay for here is a far superior selection to anything in the area. There are so many amazing things about this grocery store I doubt I can capture them all in this review, but I will do my best to give you a run down of the highlights, starting from the point you walk in to the exit. *Indoor parking garage with elevators, so no more lugging 5 bags out to your car in the rain. *Deals, deals, and even better deals. Did I mention awesome deals? If you aren't a VIC card customer, you NEED to be, because you're missing out on 4 packs of blueberries for $5 and $6.99 USDA Black Angus filet mignon, just to name a few. *Freshest produce I've seen outside of a Whole Foods, and loads to choose from. It's divided into regular and organic sections, with the organic being placed right at the front. Don't be fooled into thinking this is all there is, as it's a bit more expensive. *A bountiful pepper selection, my heart just skipped a beat. *Melon bar. Yep, they have a melon bar. *To make you quickly forget the melon bar they also added a very large olive bar, with all the extra great Greek accoutrement. *An "Asian" bar, with all the various types of typical Chinese food, along with some curries and freshly rolled sushi. *A regular "hot bar" section, full of all our American favorites, including 4 soups every day, with sample bowls so you can try them all! *Hot brick oven baked pizzas, made to order. These things look delicious. *Large full service deli right next to the 4 sided cheese monument with a bakery stuck right in the middle. Please note, there are samples galore for you to try in this area, much like the produce section. *The butcher area, oh let me tell you about the butcher area. For starters, I already think HT steaks are by far the best of any chain out there, but this store has their own aging rack where anyone can pick out a cut of beef and have them age it as long as you want, you just have to come and pick it up when you're ready for dinner. They also have lamb and veal constantly on sale, you cannot beat these prices or quality anywhere! The pre-marinated meats always look delicious too, if I was a lazy person I would be all over these. *The rest of the store is pretty much typical Harris Teeter: enormous selection in every aisle, with slighter higher than average prices, but you gotta pay to have this kind of selection. *I've been probably 8 times since this opened a month ago, and there are always plenty of lanes open at check-out every time. The last time I went the cashier even gave me a $10 off coupon because I didn't realize they were in the weekly flier. She literally just gave me $10 free, wow. read more

this is the best harris teeter ever. i can walk here from work during lunch. since i typically eat extremely late lunches - more like linners, there's hardly anyone in here when i go. the set up is fantastic, great layout to the store and there's a starbucks and free wi-fi? i could live here. seriously considering bringing a free standing hammock and popping up shop some days during long work days. now all this place needs is to hire a few starbucks cocktail waitresses to fetch me drinks and fan me with oversized palm leafs as needed. did i mention the grocery cart escalator? so cool. read more

Two weeks ago I bought a watermelon that spoiled after one day and yesterday I bought a cantelope I had to throw out this morning. They are always out of the brands I buy like Fage yogurt so yesterday when I saw two I bought them, only to get home and see that they expired on the same day. This used to be a very nice location but it is now poorly managed. Parking lot is filthy. Yesterday I stepped on old dried up sandwich. Elevators hot as ovens. Smells. You will wait at the deli counter forever. One kind man always working hard but with no support. Lots of people standing around barely working. Talking employees in conversation with each other often standing in the way. I have helped other customers find things because store employees are clueless. Sale items usually depleted. Popular items wiped out. Store stock constantly being thinned out. Can't even get my brand of dog food any longer. I live less than 50 feet from this store and have to drive to another grocery because they are out of basic items like mayo. Complained but got no results. Glorified 7-11. read more

I've been going to this grocery store for almost two years. About once a week I use the online pick-up and usually pop in about once or twice a week. The store is clean and employees are friendly enough. This store gets 5 stars for having an amazing management team. We have had some problems in the past and everytime they have made things right! Once we were missing items in our online pick up. We came back to the store and the manager we and got the items and comped them. Since he knew we were normal customers that used online shopping every sunday he said next week put my name in the comments and I will do something special for you. We were expecting $5 or $10 off, but he comped the entire order. I have so many other examples where management has gone above and beyond. I had one of the best customer experiences here and it will make me come back more often because of it. I was trying to find a particular product but it looked like they ran out so we asked someone who worked there for help. I just so happened that someone who worked there was in the same aisle as us so we asked her to help us. Little did we know, she was on break! She suggested a few options to us and she followed through and even rang us up. Now that is great service! read more

We live about a half mile from this Harris Teeter, and go there on a weekly basis. Their selection is pretty good across the board. The butchers are always very helpful and glad to answer any questions. I keep coming back to this Harris Teeter because the customer service is always excellent. Went to the store to buy some sodas for a work event. I saw a great deal at the store, buy two get three free. Since I'm the sign the price was 5.49 to me this was an amazing sale so I decided to get 10 boxes in total. When I go to the cashier she told me with an attitude that the sale was not correct. She decided to call a manager. The manager told me that they cannot guarantee the price in the lager or tag since it was incorrect. I told her they should it look into that before. With an attitude she called another manager from customer service to basically void my transaction and do it al over. This took more than 30 minutes. The manager in customer service did not have other option but to help me. I just felt like I was being inconsiderate towards them. They wanted to charge me the regular price per box 7.59 I believe when the promotional price in their shelves was a different one. My first job was in a supermarket marking prices and it was my responsibility to make sure his type of issues did not happen. If we made a human mistake I was hold accountable for it. I accept the mistake, apologize and move on. Here is where they failed, no apology, no empathy. The management is just rude and genuinely do not care for people when they point out their mistakes our flaws. If you follow the rules and make sure items are labeled correctly people won't have to complaint in first place. read more

I stop by at least once a week as it's across the street from my office. They have a great selection of lunch items, I always get the salad bar as it's fairly priced and everything is always fresh. The cashiers are fast, so don't worry about the lines! Parking is an issue, be careful of the indoor parking space - it's a tight space and some cars are flying in and out. read more

The breakfast bar closes at 9:00 AM weekdays even though advertised to be open until 10:00 AM. After 9 AM, you find cold leftovers, dried out remnants, whatever is left over from earlier, and the price isn't reduced for the hassle of going out of your way to get there well before posted closing time. As is typical of large, faceless corporations, polite emails to management receive no responses or acknowledgements. I suspect there is no management on duty in the mornings, thus the lack of advertised products, sloppy shelves, slovenly service. read more

I work so close to this Harris Teeter we like to call it "Building 5" of our work complex. I get my prescriptions filled here and they are pretty timely about filling it on the spot. It usually takes only 15 minutes. The various food bars are great as they have a American food hot bar, pizzas, Chinese, sushi, salad bar, etc. The food at these bars are pretty fresh and tasty! And they have a seating area too where you can actually eat your food. And a Starbucks bar to boot! I'm only docking one star because the main floor of the garage can get a little chaotic and the prices on the groceries are little higher than Safeway/Giant. However, its mere convenience to my work make it worth while! read more

I love this grocery store. I come here almost every other day, mainly because I live right next to it. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful and the food quality is pretty good. Honestly, I never really cared about grocery shopping until I moved next to this place and I absolutely love it. So far, I think this is the best Harris Teeter in the area. It has the most variety and merchandise out of all the ones I've lived by (Tysons, DC, Arlington and Reston) and is super convenient if you happen to live in the Loft Apartments (it's right beneath it). It's also the only Harris Teeter I've lived by that does paninis (not exceedingly well, but at least they had them). It's never too crowded, even on weekends. 24/7 quality food?! Does it get better than that? I have made runs to this Harris Teeter all times of day/night for anything you could possibly think of! I love their prepared foods in the morning or for lunch or for dinner. They have a great bakery, fresh seafood, and a wine department that carries a good amount of VA wines. Granted, Harris Teeter tends to be more expensive then other grocery stores, it is also cleaner then most and carries great brands. Also, if you are looking for a cheap dinner, their $5 dinner entrees can't be beat! The Starbucks is a great bonus! read more

This is our grocery store. We love it! The management is nice, and is always willing to answer my questions about ingredients for recipes. I don't think any of the food that they prepare at the deli or other hot bars is the best, but it will do in a pinch. I like that they do have a lot of food options. The food selection is good, but some of their prepared foods aren't great (too much sodium and in some items they use MSG). I had the rudest cashier who shamed me in front of my kids and the others in line because I didn't have my club card with me and entering my phone number wasn't working. She could have handled it so much better than she did, but instead chose to be rude to me and embarrass me in front of everyone. We just moved about a mile from this store, and were really excited. The check-out staff is always friendly, parking is convenient, but selection isn't the best. I've been there twice in the last 10 days, and both times they were out of the same 2 items I was shopping for. This is the most convenient grocery store and I wish it sold fresh produce. If you buy produce here, you need to be extremely thorough when you look at it, and even if it looks good expect it to go bad within a day or two of coming home. Once we wanted grapes and every bag they had was moldy, one of the employees brought out bags of grapes from the back and lets us find a good bag... he seemed ununcerned that most of these new bags still were moldy. Overall grocery shopping at Harris Teeter had been generally OK. When the Tysons Corner location opened, I went out of my way for about a year to shop at the nice, new clean store. Then one day I had a terrible customer service experience with one of the employees. It was not the end of the world, but I felt like management didn't really put much effort in correcting the problem. I still use Harris Teeters when I'm around one, I just don't go out of my way anymore to shop at the Tysons Corner location. read more

Upon reading some of the bad reviews mixed in with the surprisingly positive ones, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has noticed THIS STORE SUCKS AT MAINTAINING FRESH GOODS! I have bought expired medicine, expired taco shells and most recently expired raisins. The expired medicine was expired by months and when I reported it, they gave me a replacement one and I got home and realized that one was expired too! So then I went back and complained big time. The manager actually personally called me to discuss my concerns. He seemed surprised when I also mentioned that I often find moldy produce in store and that any produce I buy from that HT seems to go bad in just days. He claimed that their produce is checked every single day. I'm not sure how that is possible because there are often containers of fruit that are about 70% filled with mold that you can spot from across the store! I doubt the mold grows that quickly in just one day. Another time I bought taco shells which were on a special buy 1, get 1 free deal. Now I know grocery stores often do this to get goods that are soon to expire off the shelf quickly but these ended up being completely expired, stale, and inedible! I didn't bother complaining that time. Most recently I bought a pack of raisins and I went to pack my kids' lunches and noticed the raisins were really dry and hard. And of course those are expired too! I plan to go to the store this week to get my money back but seriously what a waste of my time! This is seriously the most convenient store for me location wise but I have stopped buying produce from here for almost a year now. I still drop in for the random items now and then but after this incident, I'm refusing to come here ever again. I have never had so many issues with a grocery store in my life! It's a relatively small store too so you would think it would be easier to maintain fresh goods and keep up with expired stock! I will continue to go out of my way to Giant and even Whole Foods, where I have never gone home with expired goods and their produce actually lasts me at least a full week! read more

If there was a zero star option I would 100% rate this place. The employees are disrespectful and have no manners. The people that work in the kitchen should all be fired. All I hear is gossiping and laughter. Once I came to buy ham and the lady was ringing me up, mind you she lady was the sweetest and a lady from the back just starts yelling at the lady taking my order. I've never witnessed a amount of disrespect in a work place. This is the nicest HT I've been to. The only better grocery stores in NoVA are the Wegman's and Whole Foods in Fairfax. Their prepared food isn't as good as the two listed above, but is very nice for a lunch in Tysons. The salad bar and pizzas are awesome, along with Sushi, HUGE panninis, hot bar, cold bar, chinese etc. Check it out if you're looking for a new lunch spot while at work. read more
